        The need for lightweight yet strong materials is being demanded in all industries. Carbon fiber-reinforced plastic is a material with increased strength by attaching carbon fiber to plastic, and is widely used in the aerospace industry, ships, automobiles, and civil engineering based on its low density. Carbon-reinforced fiber plastic is a material widely used in parts and manufactured products, and structural analysis simulation is required during design, and application of actual material properties is necessary for accurate structural analysis simulation. In the case of carbon-reinforced fiber plastics, it is reported that there is a porosity of around 0.5% to 6%, and it is necessary to check the change in material properties according to the porosity and pore shape. It was confirmed by applying the method. It was confirmed that the change in elastic modulus according to the porosity was 10.7% different from the base material when the porosity was 6.0%, and the Poisson's ratio was confirmed to be less than 3.0%. It was confirmed that the elliptical spherical pore derived different material properties from the spherical pore depending on the pore shape, and it was confirmed that the shape of the pore had to be confirmed to derive equivalent material properties.

        The blockage rate for three kinds of nets commonly used in agricultural facilities was assessed by using the image acquisition and its relevant processing. By using both empirical relations presented by Idel’chik and Richards and Robinson, and the blockage rate obtained from the image processing, the pressure drop through the nets was predicted and also compared with wind tunnel experiment results. The results of the study showed that the blockage rate of the net was discriminated according to such factors as the magnitude of nets, the existence of inside threads, the thickness and number of threads. In addition, the blockage rate for the incident angle of 0° when the wind blew at the front had the range of 0.22-0.29 (0.22-0.32 when considering whole incident angles from 0° to 45° by 15°). For the nets with the blockage rate of about 30% or below, the prediction by the empirical relations of by Idel’chik and Richards and Robinson showed a little higher pressure drop overall than that of the wind tunnel test, but the use of the empirical relations and the blockage rate could be thought of as providing effectively meaningful guidelines for the safe design of agricultural facilities including nets because the wind tunnel test has been tedious and expensive. Further research and potential application on the prediction technique of the pressure drop, regarding both a subtle deformation by the wind and manufacturing methods with regard to the level of knots and the existence of inside threads, needs to be done for the nets with higher blockage rate.

        남강댐 하류역에 위치한 사천만, 진주만, 강진만에서 가화천 방류에 따른 담수 배제의 분배 특성을 평가하기 위하여 입자추적 수치실험을 실험하였다. 가화천을 통해 3개의 방류조건(무방류, 강우시 방류, 홍수시 방류)에서 입자 1000개를 투여하여 노량수도, 대방수 도, 창선해협으로 빠져나가는 입자의 수를 비교하였다. 가화천을 통한 방류량이 늘어날수록 노량수도로의 입자 분배율이 증가하고, 대방 수도로의 분배율이 감소하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 즉, 평소에는 가화천 하류에 위치한 물질의 약 95%가 대방수도를 통해 빠져나가다 가, 강우에 의해 남강댐의 방류량이 증가하면서 노량수도로의 분배율이 증가하며, 홍수시에는 노량수도로의 입자 분배율이 45.5% 까지 증가하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

        아메리카동애등에 성충은 음식물 폐자원 등 유기물이 있는 곳에 알을 낳는 습성이 있다. 대부분의 농가는 음식 물폐자원을 가공한 단미사료(습식사료)를 유인배지로 활용하여 그 위에 플로랄폼(오아시스)를 놓고 알을 받는 다. 그러나 플로랄폼은 재사용이 불가하고 생분해되지 않는 환경폐기물로서 처리가 곤란하며 포름알데하이드, 카본 블랙 등의 발암물질을 함유한 것으로도 알려져 있다. 이에 본 연구는 먹이원 자체를 활용하여 폐기물이 발생하지 않는 친환경 산란받이를 개발하였으며 일회용으로 사용되는 플로랄폼을 대체하였다. 먹이원으로 활 용할 수 있는 습식사료와 건식사료를 주재료로 하여 제작하며, 습식사료(수분60~80%)와 건식사료(1~10%)를 1:0.5~1 비율로 혼합한 사료 혼합물과 보조첨가제와 물을 포함하여 제작한다. 친환경 산란받이는 기존 플로랄폼 대비 산란율이 34% 증가하였으며 구매비용 또한 75% 절감하였다.

        Chlorothalonil is continuously introduced into the marine environment and has significant toxic effects on various marine organisms, however, research on its effect on seaweed is limited. Therefore, we analyzed the impact of chlorothalonil on the early life stages of major aquaculture species in Korea, Undaria pinnatifida. U. pinnatifida female gametophytes were exposed to different concentrations of chlorothalonil (0, 0.03, 0.05, 0.10, 0.20, and 0.40 mg L-1), and their survival rate and relative growth rate were analyzed. The no observed effect concentration (NOEC), lowest observed effect concentration (LOEC), and median lethal concentration (LC50) for female gametophyte survival were determined as 0.05, 0.10, and 0.141 (0.121-0.166) mg L-1. NOEC, LOEC, and median effective concentration (EC50) for relative growth rate were 0.10, 0.20, and 0.124 (0.119-0.131) mg L-1. Therefore, female gametophytes of U. pinnatifida are expected to experience toxic effects at concentrations above 0.05-0.10 mg L-1 of chlorothalonil. These research findings are anticipated to serve as crucial reference data for evaluating the effects of chlorothalonil on the health of U. pinnatifida in the early life stages.

        Background: As sedentary life increases, people's thoracic vertebra joint movement decreases, and the resulting associated pain is complaining of a lot of discomfort. This is also affecting the autonomic nervous system. Objectives: The purpose of this study was therefore to find out the effect of thoracic vertebra joint mobilization on heart rate variability in upper back pain patients. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Method: Thirty subjects in this study were randomly assigned to two groups of 15 persons each using a randomization tool. Maitland's grade III joint mobilization, hot pack, and interferential current therapy (ICT) were applied to T1-L2 and hot pack and ICT were applied to the control group. The intervention was performed 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Results: There were statistically significant changes in Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Standard Deviation of all Normal R-R Intervals (SDNN), Low Frequency (LF), High Frequency (HF) and LF/HF ratio in the study group, and statistically significant changes in VAS, SDNN, and LF/HF ratio in the control group. In comparison of differences, there were statistically significant changes in VAS. Conclusion: Positive effects were found on SDNN and LF/HF ratio in both the joint mobilization group and the control group compared to before the study. In particular, even LF and HF were positive in the joint mobilization group showed influence.

        수도권에 위치한 S매립장 내 3개의 매립장을 대상으로 매립가스 배출 및 주요 경로별 표면 발산과 관련된 분석을 하였다. 전체 매립가스 발생비율 10.9%인 LS1이 총 표면발산 비중은 49.4%를 차지하고 있었다. 3개 매립장에서의 메탄의 총 표면발산은 13.6 Nm3/min로서, LS1 8.4 Nm3/min (61.7%), LS2 4.0 Nm3/min(29.4%), LS3 1.2 Nm3/min(8.9%)이고, 발산경로별로는 상부 7.3 Nm3/min (53.2%), 사면 6.4 Nm3/min(46.7%), 다이크 0.02 Nm3/min(0.1%)이었다. 3개 매립장의 주요 배출경로 별 산화율은 다이크가 87.5%로 가장 크고, 상부 72.3%, 사면 71.8% 순이었다. 메탄을 기준으로 표면발 산 기여율은 매립장 별로 LS1이 전체의 61.7%로 가장 컸다. 주요 배출경로별로는 LS1의 사면이 전체의 41.7%, LS2의 상부 24.4%, LS1의 상부 20.0%로서 S매립장의 전체 메탄 표면발산량의 86.1%를 차지함 에 따라 향후 집중적인 관리가 필요할 것으로 판단되었다.

        Gate valves are hydraulic components used to shut-off the water flow in water distribution systems. Gate valves may fail owing to various aspects such as leakage through seats, wearing of packing, and corrosion. Because it is considerably challenging to detect valve malfunctioning until the operator identifies a significant fault, failure of the gate valve may lead to a severe accident event associated with water distribution systems. In this study, we proposed a methodology to diagnose the faults of gate valves. To measure the pressure difference across a gate valve, two pressure transducers were installed before and after the gate valve in a pilot-scaled water distribution system. The obtained time-series pressure difference data were analyzed using a machine learning algorithm to diagnose faults. The validation of whether the flow rate of the pipeline can be predicted based on the pressure difference between the upstream and downstream sides of the valve was also performed.

        In molten salt reactor (MSR), liquid fuel integrated with the molten salt coolant is used to improve the safety, resulting in the prevention of the loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) that can occur in a pressurized water reactor (PWR). Because the structural materials used in MSRs are directly contacted with liquid fuel for a long time, they must have excellent corrosion resistance to the molten salt. Therefore, to examine the corrosion rates for Ni-based alloys in the molten salt, the corrosion experiments for alloy 600, alloy 617, and Hastelloy N were performed under LiCl molten salt at 635°C for 100 h in a glove box under Ar environment. Through a weight loss method for the three Nibased coupons before and after the corrosion tests, we evaluated their corrosion rates. Based on the results of weight loss for each alloy, we confirmed that Hastelloy N has the excellent corrosion resistance compared to the other alloys. Furthermore, the changes in the crystal structure and surface morphology with elemental distribution for the three alloys by corrosion in LiCl molten salt were analyzed, showing the variation in surface topography and the decrease in Cr element after corrosion experiments for all coupons.

        In this research, the dose rate was measured using a backpack-type scan survey device at 4 sites in sites around Nuclear Power Plants (Kori, Wolsong, Hanbit, Hanul), and the radioactivity ratio for each nuclide was evaluated using an high-purity germanium (HPGe) detector. Kori, Wolsong and Hanul power plants were measured within 2 km of the power plant, and Hanbit power plants were measured about 6.7 km from the power plant. As a result of measuring the dose rate with a backpacktype scan survey device, the average dose rate was the lowest in the measurement site 1 at 0.090 μSv/h, and the highest in the measurement site 4 at 0.145 μSv/h. All measurement points showed the domestic environmental dose rate level. The data obtained by the scan survey was visualized using the classed post and gridding functions of the surfer program. As a result of measurement with the HPGe detector, 137Cs was not detected, and only natural nuclides were detected. Among the detected natural nuclides, the radioactivity ratio was the highest for 40K with an average of 94.56%, and the lowest for 214Pb with an average of 0.26%. The results of this research can be used as basic data for radiation environment surveys around nuclear power plants. Further studies are needed to evaluate the radiation impacts by region and environment through periodic measurements.

        It is reported that 48 pressurized heavy water reactors (PHWRs) are in operation, and 10 PHWRs including Wolsong-1 NPP have been permanently shut down in the world. In the case of PHWRs, which have been permanently ceased, they are managed through the delayed decommissioning method, but there are no cases of dismantling. Therefore, technology development is urgent for the effective decommissioning of PHWRs. Unlike PWRs, PHWRs are separated into coolant system and moderator system. Most of pipes and systems of coolant system are mainly composed of carbon steel, expect of the steam generator tubes which are composed of nickel alloy. On the other hand, the moderator system is composed of stainless steel. In the case of stainless steel, the inner layer of the oxide film is composed of chromium oxide, and the outer layer is composed of iron and nickel oxide in enriched. To remove two oxide layers, it is needs to different decontamination method, the coolant system can perform the system decontamination process through a reduction process, but in the case of the moderator system, the oxidation/reduction process is required because it has a material and oxide film similar to PWRs. In this study, this is evaluated the oxide film removal rate according to the type of stainless steel and temperature in order to remove the oxide film deposited in the moderator system. The experiments were carried out at temperatures of 60, 70, 80 and 90°C, with a concentration of 200 ppm of permanganic acid and nitric acid, and 2,000 ppm of oxalic acid, respectively. The results of the oxide film removal rate test for SUS304 showed 29% at 60°C, 38% at 70 and 80°C, and 41% at 90°C. For SUS403, the oxide film removal rate experiment results showed 62% at 60°C, 85% at 70°C, 94% at 80°C, over 99% at 90°C. The results showed that the removal efficiency of the oxide film increased as the temperature increased. Following the results of experimental, the optimum temperature of oxide removal in composed of the stainless steel material is to be 90°C for decontamination of PHWR.

        Since the time to consider when evaluating leakage of spent fuel dry storage systems is very long, assumptions that continue to leak at the initial leakage rate are too conservative. Therefore, this study developed a dynamic methodology to calculate the change in leakage rate using time-varying variables and apply it to calculate the amount of radioactive leakage during the evaluation period. The developed dynamic methodology was then applied to calculate the leakage radiation source term for a hypothetical dry storage system and used to perform a public dose assessment. When applying the developed dynamic leakage rate evaluation methodology for more accurate confinement evaluation in case of containment damage of dry storage system, it was found that the change of leak rate with time is very insignificant if the hole diameter is small enough, and the leak rate decreases rapidly with time when a hole with a certain diameter or larger occurs. In the case of the accident condition, except when the hole is very large, it corresponds to the chocked flow condition, and the leak rate decreases rapidly as soon as the internal pressure is sufficiently lowered to enter the molecular and continuum flow region. In the case of a small hole diameter, the leakage volume is very small, so even if the dynamic methodology is applied, the evaluation results are not different from the case where the initial leakage rate continues, and when the hole diameter exceeds a certain value, the internal pressure drops according to the leakage volume, and the leakage rate decreases significantly. As a result of evaluating the dose to residents by applying the calculated radiation source term, it was confirmed that the dose criteria was exceeded when a hole with a diameter of about 4 μm occurred under off-normal conditions, and the dose standard was exceeded under accident conditions when a chocked flow occurred between the diameter of the hole and 2-3 μm, resulting in a rapid increase in the dose. The results of this study are expected to contribute to a more accurate evaluation of the confinement performance of storage systems, which will contribute to the design of optimal dry storage systems.

        Considering the domestic situation where all nuclear power plants are located on seaside, the interim storage site is also likely to be located on coastal site. Maritime transportation is inevitable and the its risk assessment is very important for safety. Currently, there is no independently developed maritime transportation risk assessment code in Korea, and no research has been conducted to evaluate the release of radioactive waste due to the immersion of transport cask. Previous studies show that the release rate of radionuclides contained in a submerged transport cask is significantly affected by the area of flow path generated at the breached containment boundary. Due to the robustness of a cask, the breach is the most likely generated between the lid and body of cask. CRIEPI investigated the effect of cask containment on the release rate of radioactive contents into the ocean and proposed a procedure to calculate the release rate considering the so-called barrier effect. However, the contribution of O-ring on the release rate was not considered in the work. In this study, test and analysis is performed to determine the equivalent flow path gap considering the influence of O-rings. These results will be implemented in the computational model to assess sea water flow through a breached containment boundary using CFD techniques to assess radionuclide release rates. The evaluation of release rate due to container lid gaps has been performed by CRIEPI and BAM. In CRIEPI, the gap of the flow path was calculated from the roughness of the container surface without a quantitative assessment of the severity of the accident. In this work, to evaluate the release rate as a function of lid displacement, a small containment vessel is engineered and a metal Oring of the Helicoflex HN type is installed, which is the most commonly used one in transport and storage casks. The lid of containment vessel is displaced in vertical and horizontal direction and the release rate of the vessel was quantified using the helium leak test and the pressure drop test. Through this work, the relationship between the vertical opening displacement and horizontal sliding displacement of the cask lid and the actual flow path area created is established. This will be implemented in the CFD model for flow rate calculation from a submerged transport cask in the deep sea.
