        해양기름오염방지를 위한 정량적 기초자료를 얻기 위하여 최근 20년간(1993년-2012년) 국내 및 세계의 해양에서 발생한 기름유출사고에 관한 통계자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 최근 20년간 국내 연안에서 발생한 기름오염사고건수는 총계 6,608건으로 평균 약 330건/년이었고 기름유출량은 총계 57,328 kL로 평균 약 2,866 kL/년이었다. 국내에서 유조선의 대량기름유출사고로 인하여 연간유출량이 1993년에 15,388 kL, 1995년에 15,773 kL, 1997년에 3,428 kL, 2007년에 13,008 kL로 크게 증가하였다. 최근 20년간(1993년-2012년) 세계의 사고건수는, 기름유출량이 8 kL(7톤) 이상인 경우, 총계 420건으로 평균 21건/년이었고, 세계의 기름유출량은 총계 약 800,000 kL(704,000톤)로 평균 약 40,000 kL(35,200톤)/년이었다. 특히 2012년에는 800 kL(700톤)을 초과하는 기름유출사고가 발생하지 않았다. 그러나 기름유출량이 8 kL(7톤) 이상인 사고에서 유조선의 대량기름유출사고로 인하여 세계의 연간기름유출량은 1993년에 약 159,000 kL(140,000톤), 1994년에 약 147,600 kL(130,000톤), 1996년에 약 90,900 kL(80,000톤), 1997년에 약 81,800 kL(72,000톤), 2002년에 약 76,100 kL(67,000톤)로 크게 증가하였다. 국내와 세계를 비교하면, 국내적으로나 세계적으로 공히 20년간 연간사고건수와 연간기름유출량과의 상관관계는 명확하지 않았으며 사고건수와 유출량이 모두 연도별로 변동 폭이 크지만 해가 거듭될수록 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 2008년부터 세계의 사고건수와 유출량은 모두 크게 감소하였고, 특히 2012년에는 800 kL(700톤) 이상의 기름유출사고는 발생하지 않았다.

        Repellency of 20 plant essential oils to malaria main vector in the Republic of Korea (ROK), Anopheles kleini, was evaluated using skin direct contact bioassay. Anopheles kleini showed the highest repellency to Pelargonium graveolens with EC50 value of 0.244 mg/cm2, followed by Pinus sylvestris and Cinnamomum camphora with EC50 values of 0.484 mg/cm2 and 0.862 mg/cm2. The lowest repellency of An. kleini was revealed from Clary sage oil with EC50 value of 4.665 mg/cm2. Anopheles kleini did not demonstrated any repellency to Lemon, Orange, Neem, Coconut and Olive oil over 20 mg/cm2. Major repellent constituents of Geranium, Pine and Camphora oil were analyzed and identified using Mass-data, GC and GC-Mass. Major constituent of Geranium were β-citronellol (37.0%) and Camphora, 1,8-cineole (35.8%) and Pine, α-terpineol (39.5%). Anopheles kleini showed higher repellency to β-citronellol and 1,8-cineole than to DEET and IR3535 and did not showed any repellency to sabinene and γ-eudesmol over 20 mg/cm2. Residual repellent time of 1,8-cineole and β-citronellol were 26 and 41 min, respectively and DEET, 84 min and IR3535, 102 min. In the light of global efforts to reduce the level of highly toxic synthetic repellents, the three essential oils and their major constituents described merit further study as potential biorepellents for the control of An. kleini populations

        Insecticide resistance and activation of the metabolic detoxification enzymes of female Culex pipiens pallens by the blood meal were assessed using a micro-application bioassay and micro-plate enzyme activity assays. Four group of Cx. pipiens pallens were used, a susceptible non-engorging group at seven days after emerging, SNE7 Cp; a resistant non-engorging group at seven days after emerging, RNE7 Cp; a resistant engorged group at one day after blood feeding and a resistant engorged group at seven days after blood feeding, REG7 Cp. Insecticide resistance of Cx. pipiens pallans was increased by the blood feeding. Based on LC50 values, SNE7 Cp demonstrated >50 fold of higher susceptibility to all tested insecticides when compared with RNE7 Cp. RNE7 Cp showed higher susceptibility to all tested insecticides than REG1 Cp and REG7 Cp with a relative susceptibility LC50 (SRLC50) of 25.8 to 50.0 and 25.0 to 48.8. In micro-plate enzyme assays, the metabolic detoxification enzyme activity of Cx. pipiens pallans adult females was increased by the blood feeding. Activation of non-specific esterases (EST), glutathione-S-transferase (GST) and mixed function oxidase (MFO) in RNE7 were higher than in SNE7 and the all tested enzymes in REG1 and REG7 demonstrated significantly higher enzyme activation than RNE7, except for activation of GST in REG1. Activation of MFO in REG1 and REG7 were 209.4- and 74.6- fold higher than in REG7, respectively. Non-specific esterases (EST) and glutathione-S-transferase exhibited < 10 fold of higher Rr values. These results may be significant in terms of the criteria that are used to evaluate resistance, because blood fed female mosquitoes may show enhanced expression of the resistance phenotype, possibly allowing for earlier detection of insecticide resistance.

        Industrial disaster caused the deaths of 2,114, construction workers among them was the highest of 621 deaths. In the construction industry, has established a number of safety alternatives to prevent accidents. But until now, the cause of the accident has stopped being superficial analysis, awareness on the root cause of the acciden did not reflect. In this study, we analyze the characteristics and causes in G contractors' safety accidents. And innovation strategy, organization-wide safety management system and detailed tasks to derive essentially was to prevent the occurrence of large construction companies. A lot of business for accident prevention effect was transient and formal, to reflect a management style and organizational culture, and try to prevent construction accidents. we will strive to prevent the disaster from the construction site through the improvement of these.

        Cheese is regarded as a viscoelastic food material. Textural properties of cheese play an important role in overall quality and consumer preference. Textural properties of cheese can be analyzed by rheological analysis and sensory evaluation analysis. Instrumental mechanical methods can provide the measurement of rheological properties of cheeses affecting physical properties, such as cracks, firmness, fracture, and production of eyes in cheeses. Descriptive sensory analysis with well-defined sensory descriptive words is a powerful tool to identify and quantify the key sensory properties of cheeses. In this article, major analytical methods to determine the rheological and sensory properties of cheeses and their applications to cheeses are presented.

        This research was investigated the relationship, in high-producing Holstein donor cows, between the number of the transferable embryos and the blood serum concentrations of Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), glucose and cholesterol, which affect the nutritional state of cows. CIDRs were inserted into the vaginas of twenty two heads of Holstein cows, regardless of estrous cycle. Superovulation was induced using folliclar stimulating hormone (FSH). For artificial insemination, donor cows were injected with and estrus was checked about 48 hours after the injection. Then they were treated with 4 straws of semen 3 times, with 12-hour intervals. Embryos were collected by a non-surgical method 7 days after the first artificial insemination. The total numbers of ova collected from 3 experimental groups whose blood BUN concentrations were <10 mg/dl, 11~18 mg/dl and mg/dl were 8.9, 12.5 and 19.0, respectively; whereas the numbers of transferable embryos were 5.8 + 1.9, 7.9 + 2.8 and 5.2 + 1.4, respectively. When glucose concentration was <60 mg/dl, the total number of collected ova was 9.9, which was smaller than when the concentration was 60~70 mg/dl or mg/dl. When glucose concentration was 60~70 mg/dl, the number of transferable embryos was 7.1 + 2.4, which was slightly larger than the numbers 6.4 + 2.1 and 6.1 + 1.7 that were obtained when the concentrations were <60 mg/dl and mg/dl, respectively ; however, the differences were not significant (p>0.05). When cholesterol concentrations were <150 mg/dl, 150~200 mg/dl and mg/dl, the total numbers of collected ova were 11.2, 11.3 and 8.6, respectively. Whereas the numbers of transferable embryos were 7.1 + 2.1, 7.3 + 1.9 and 5.6 + 1.3, respectively ; however, the differences were again not significant (p>0.05). The result of this research showed no significant difference in ovum recovery rate and the number of transferable embryos according to major metabolite concentrations in high-producing Holstein donor cows. However, it is considered that the failure of maintaining proper nutritional status would cause the fall in in vivo embryo productivity.

        경북의 자두 주요 생산지인 경산시와 의성군내 8개의 자두과원을 선정하여, 2010년과 2011년에 주요 심식나방류인 복숭아순나방, 복숭아순나방붙이, 복숭아심식나방의 발생상을 성페로몬 트랩을 이용하여 조사하였다. 또한 경산지역에서는 과수원 내부와 외부에서 포획된 개체수 자료를 이용하여 내외부 발생량을 비교하였다. 경산에서 복숭아순나방과 복숭아순나방붙이 발생은 의성보다 약 1주일 정도 빠르게 나타났다. 복숭아순나방은 3월 하순에 발생을 시작하여, 4월 하순 최성기를 이루었으며, 이후 세대는 6월 중순, 7월 중순, 8월 중순에 성충 최성기를 보였다. 반면 복숭아심식나방은 두 지역간의 차이가 없었으며, 6월 상순에 발생을 시작하여 9월 중순까지 2-3회의 발생 최성기를 보였다. 복숭아심식나방의 경우 2010년은 전형적인 2회 최성기를 보였으나 2011년에는 3회 최성기를 보였다. 연간 복숭아순나방, 복숭아순나방붙이, 복숭아심식나방의 발생량비는 경산지역에서 63-47:16-35:20-18%였고, 의성지역은 51-46:18-13:31-36%로 나타났다. 복숭아순나방과 복숭아순나방붙이의 경우 과수원 내부와 외부에서 포획량의 차이는 없었다.

        In the present study, we collected the information of the 18 major food safety incidents and conducted a delphi survey with 10 experts to analyze the effect of difference between terms used in reporting of the major food safety incidents on risk communication. In the result of the analysis of information from the major food safety incidents, discord of terms used from government, local government, media and consumer groups had a tremendous effect on the socioeconomic losses and caused the expansion of the incidents. The survey with 10 experts showed that there was a high correlation between the difference in ripple effect of reporting terms and the difference in reporting terms. A correlation coefficient was 0.865. Therefore, ripple effect of incidents was significantly affected by reporting terms and we concluded that standardization of term is necessary in reporting of the food safety incidents. These results can be used as a basic material for successful risk communication among the government, enterprises and consumers.

        The validity of the results from observational methods such as RULA, REBA, OWAS has been one of major concerns due to their subjective characteristics in determining the posture of interests. There have been many studies regarding validity of the results from each checklist. However, most studies provided only fragmentary rather than comprehensive results in nature. This study specifically tried to analyze consistency of novice user based on intra-observer consistency and sensitivity of industrial types during MSDs(Musculoskekltal Disorders) evaluation with major checklists. In this study, twenty two novice subjects were participated to conduct MSDs evaluation for the forty five jobs from three types of industries(automobile, electronics, hospital). The main results for this study were summarized as follows; 1) The action level based on RULA was always higher than that from REBA and OWAS for all three types of industries., 2) The order of consistency from novice users was OWAS(72.7%(kappa=0.57)) RULA(54.3%(kappa=0.41)), REBA(41.0%(kappa=0.34))., 3) The percentage of agreement between 2nd and 3rd trials was higher than those between 1st and 2nd trials and between 1st and 3rd trials irrespective of industrial types during using RULA and REBA., 4) The average score of automobile industry was higher than those of hospital and electronics industries., 5) The types of jobs associated with five body parts(A1(Front), A2(Interior), A3(Rear), A4(Lower), A5(Door)) in automobile industry showed statistically significant differences in terms of MSDs scores for the body parts considered in each checklists.

        Spider silks hold great potential as biomaterials with extraordinary properties. Here we report cloning and characterization of the major ampullate silk protein gene from the spider Araneus ventricosus. A cDNA coding for the partial major ampullate silk protein (AvMaSp) was cloned from A. ventricosus. Analysis of the cDNA sequence shows that AvMaSp consists of 240 amino acids of a repetitive region and 99 amino acids of a C-terminal non-repetitive domain. The peptide motifs found in spider major ampullate silk proteins, (A)n, (GA)n, and (GGX)n, were conserved in the repetitive region of AvMaSp. Phylogenetic analysis further confirmed that AvMaSp belongs to the spider major ampullate spidroin proteins. The AvMaSp-R cDNA, which contains sequences encoding for 240 amino acids of a repetitive domain, was expressed as a 22 kDa polypeptide of soluble form in baculovirus-infected insect cells. Recombinant AvMaSp-R was degraded abruptly by trypsin. However, AvMaSp-R was stable at 100 °C for at least 30 min. Additionally, the AvMaSp-R was stable at various pH values from 2 to 12 for at least 1 h. Taken together, our findings provide the molecular structure and biochemical property for A. ventricosus major ampullate silk protein as a biomaterial.

        Most insects possess two different acetylcholinesterases (AChE1 and AChE2) but it remains unknown which AChE plays the major role in synaptic transmission. To investigate the evolutionary distribution of AChE1 and AChE2, the AChE with the main catalytic function in several insect species belonging to 18 representative orders was determined by native-PAGE in conjunction with Western blotting using AChE1- and AChE2-specific antibodies. Among the 98 insect species examined, AChE1 was expressed as the main enzyme in 65 species across diverse taxa. In the remaining species, however, AChE2 was expressed as the major enzyme. These findings are contrary to the common expectation that AChE1 is major enzyme in most insects, with the exception of Cyclorrhapha, and further demonstrate that the specialization of AChE2 as the main enzyme or the replacement of AChE1 function with AChE2 function were rather common events, having multiple independent origins during insect evolution. It was hypothesized that the generation of multiple AChE2 isoforms via alternative splicing has allowed the loss of ace1during the functional replacement of AChE1 with AChE2 in Cyclorrhapha. However, the presence of AChE2 as the main AChE in higher social Hymenoptera provides an example of the functional replacement of AChE1 with AChE2 without the loss of ace1. The current findings should provide valuable insights into which AChE has evolved to perform synaptic functions and to become the main insecticide target in different species

        An assessment was made of the toxicity of 12 insecticides, three essential oils and Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis (Bti) alone or in combination with the oil major constituents, (E)-anethole (AN), (E)-cinnamaldehyde (CA) and eugenol (EU), to third instars from bamboo forest collected Aedes albopictus and rice paddy field collected Anopheles sinensis resistant to various groups of insecticides. The toxicity of the test insecticides, essential oils and binary mixtures of Bti and the oil constituents (1:1 ratio) was evaluated using a direct-contact mortality bioassay. Binary mixtures of B.t.i. and CA, AN or EU were significantly more toxic against Ae. albopictus larvae (LC50, 0.0084, 0.0134 and 0.0237 mg/l) and An. sinensis larvae (0.0159, 0.0388 and 0.0541 mg/l) than either B.t.i. (1.7884 and 2.1681 mg/l) or CA (11.46 and 19.43 mg/l), AN (16.66 and 25.11 mg/l) or EU (24.60 and 32.14 mg/l) alone. Based on the co-toxicity coefficient (CC) and synergistic factor (SF), the three binary mixtures operated in a synergy pattern (CC, 140.7–368.3 and SF, 76–213 for Ae. albopictus CC, 75.1–245.3 and SF, 40–136 for An. sinensis).The binary mixtures of Bti and essential oil constituents described, particularly (E)-cinnamaldehyde, merit further study as potential mosquito larvicides for the control of malaria vector mosquito populations in light of global efforts to reduce the level of highly toxic synthetic insecticides in the aquatic environment.

        Three rice planthoppers, the brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens), the white back planthopper (Sogatella furcifera), and the small brown planthopper (Laodelphax striatellus) and the green rice leafhopper (Nephotettix cincticeps) are major homopteran sap-sucking rice pests in Korea. These insect pests commonly have highly modified mouthparts, the stylet bundle, for piercing and sucking. Two pairs of mandibular and maxillary stylets consist of the stylet bundle by interlocking each stylet, which forms the two canals, larger one for food canal and smaller one for salivary canal. Destructive damages result from direct feeding effects (hopperburing) with heavy infestation and/or transmitting virus diseases (Rice stripe virus and Rice black-streaked dwarf virus by L. striatellus and Rice dwarf virus by N. cincticeps). Damage level is closely related to the feeding behavior of sap-sucking insects, so generally honeydew excretion amount on the resistant rice variety is smaller than that on the susceptible. Therefore, the method to measure the honeydew excretion amount has been primarily used as an indirect way to compare the feeding amount between the susceptible and the resistant. On the other hand, the electrical penetration graph (EPG) technique was firstly developed by McLean and Kinsey (1964) to measure voltage changes during piercing and sucking of insect on the plant. Since specific voltage waveforms were identified and it was known that each waveform is commonly related to salivary and feeding behavior of insect stylets in the plant tissue, EPG technique has been used to real-timely and quantitatively measure feeding behavior of piercing and sucking insects on susceptible and resistant rice variety. However, identifying each different waveform distinctly and understanding biological function of each waveform are certainly necessary to analyze feeding behavior in the plant tissue such as phloem sap ingestion. In this study, the stylet penetration behavior of N. lugens, S. furcifera, L. striatellus, and N. cincticeps on rice plants (Oryza sativa) was evaluated through the use of a direct current based electrical penetration graph (DC-EPG). To accomplish this, we classified the EPG waveforms of planthopper group into seven different patterns, np, N1, N2, N3, N4-a, N4-b, and N5, according to their shapes, voltage amplitudes, voltage levels, and frequencies. The N4-b pattern was always preceded by N3 and N4-a, in that order. Continuous honeydew excretion only occurred during the N4-b period, and the honeydew deposited on a filter paper containing ninhydrin reagent during the N4-b period were stained into violet. Based on the location of the stylets in the cross-section of rice tissue and honeydew excretion, the EPG waveforms for the stylet penetration behaviors of the three rice planthoppers were assigned to the following groups; np: non-penetration of stylets, N1: penetration initiation, N2: salivation and stylet movement, N3: an extracellular activity near the phloem region, N4-a: an intracellular activity in phloem region, N4-b: phloem sap ingestion, and N5: activity in the xylem region. Futhermore, we classified the EPG waveforms of the green rice leafhopper, N. cincticeps into seven different patterns, Nc1, Nc2, Nc3, Nc4, Nc5, Nc6, and Nc7 according to their shapes, voltage amplitudes, voltage levels, and frequencies. The Nc6 pattern was always preceded by Nc5 pattern. The Nc6 pattern of the leafhopper was carefully considered as a phloem sap feeding behavior based on regular honeydew excretion. On the other hand, the planthopper group and the leafhopper hardly showed the phloem sap feeding pattern on resistant rice varieties during an EPG-recording. In addition, the duration of the phloem sap feeding patterns was highly decreased on resistant rice varieties relative to susceptible ones. From these results, it is suggested that the phloem sap feeding related patterns are an important parameter to determine resistance of rice plant.

        목 적: 본 연구는 한국의 안경광학 전공 대학원에서 연구윤리 교육의 현황과 필요도를 파악하고 적절한 교 육 형식을 도출하기 위하여 실시되었다. 방 법 : 국내의 안경광학 전공 대학원 재학생 31명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하여 응답을 통계적으로 분석하였다. 결 과 : 한국의 안경광학 전공 대학원생들의 연구윤리에 대한 인식도는 높지 않으나, 연구윤리 교육에 대 한 필요성은 인정하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 연구윤리 교육을 경험한 응답자들이 교육의 필요성과 유용성을 더 높이 평가하고 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 결 론 : 한국의 안경광학 전공 대학원에서 연구윤리에 대한 교육의 필요성은 매우 높으며, 정규 교과목이 나 비공식 특강의 형식을 통하여 필수적으로 실시되는 것이 바람직하다.
