        Cadmium (Cd) toxicity is a serious limitation for agricultural production. In this study, we explored tolerance mechanism associated with Cd toxicity tolerance in alfalfa plants. We used three distinct alfalfa cultivars M. sativa cv. Vernal, M. sativa cv. Zhung Mu, and M. sativa cv. Xing Jiang Daye in this study. Cd showed declined chlorophyll score in Xing Jiang Daye compared with Zhung Mu and Vernal. No significant change observed among the cultivars for root and shoot length. Atomic absorption spectroscopy analysis demonstrated a significant accumulation of Cd, Fe, S and PC in distinct alfalfa cultivars. However, Zhung Mu and Xing Jiang Daye declined Cd accumulation in root, where Fe, S and PC incremented only in Zhung Mu. It suggests that excess Cd in Zhung Mu possibly inhibited in root by the increased accumulation of Fe, S and PC. This was further confirmed by the response of Fe (MsIRT1) and S transporters (MsSULTR1;2 and MsSULTR1;3), and MsPCS1 genes associated with Fe, S and PC availability and translocation in roots and shoots. It suggests that specially the transcript signal inducing the responses to adjust Cd especially in Zhung Mu. This finding provides the essential background for further molecular breeding program for forage crops.

        Background: Due to aging, blood flow rate decreases, also posture and chewing habit may be changed. Objective: To identify that changes in blood velocity in the common carotid arteries (CCAs) in old persons with unilateral chewing habit (UCH) and forward head posture (FHP) in the elderly. Design: An observational cross-sectional study. Methods: Chewing habits, FHP, and CCAs velocities were assessed in 85 elderly subjects. Chewing habits were measured by visual observation. CCAs measured the peak systolic velocity (PSV), end-diastolic velocity (EDV), minimum diastolic velocity, and resistivity index. The subjects were divided into UCH and bilateral chewing habit groups depending on chewing habit. The subjects were also divided into >49 degrees and <49 degrees for comparison of blood flow between the left and right CCAs. Results: In the UCH, the chewing side had significantly higher EDV (P=.003), PSV (P=.023) than the non-chewing side. There was no significant difference in velocity between the CCAs in the FHP. Conclusion: This study shows that the blood flow velocity of the chewing side of UCH was higher, and unilateral chewing affects the CCAs velocity and thus highlight the importance of chewing habit in the elderly than head posture.

        In order to facilitate its Belt and Road Initiative, China has issued dozens of policy documents and detailed guidelines, improved its legal and supervisory systems, and taken full advantage of all existing cooperation mechanisms at the bilateral, regional, sub-regional and multilateral levels. The current cooperation mechanism is characterized by non-systemicity, which makes it dependent upon other existing regional cooperation mechanisms. In fact, it has no uniform institutional structure, nor any dispute settlement mechanism. Although this non-systematic approach is based in China’s successful experience in opening up to outside influence and in the flexibility that enabled its rise to global prominence, this very flexibility also poses challenges to the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative by leaving it open to conflict with existing regional cooperation mechanisms. Therefore, to ensure the success of the Belt and Road Initiative, China should undertake a systematic plan for implementation by establishing a comprehensive legal framework; streamlining paths to economic cooperation; and institutionalizing the cooperation mechanism with a formal dispute settlement mechanism at its core.

        Reproductive potential decreases with age. A decrease in male fertility is due to a combination of morphological and molecular alterations in the testes. Transient receptor potential vanilloid receptor-1 (TRPV1) is associated with aging and lifespan, and its activation causes apoptotic cell death in various cell types. However, the effect of TRPV1 on testicular apoptosis in aged mice has not yet been reported. TRPV1 knockout (KO) mice had a longer lifespan than that of wild-type (WT) mice. Lifespan was increased by 11.8% in male TRPV1 KO mice compared to that in WT mice. TRPV1 KO males lived approximately 100 days longer than WT males on average, and the maximum lifespan was markedly extended in TRPV1 KO mice compared with that in WT mice. The TRPV1 expression levels were highly increased in the testes of older mice. TRPV1 was expressed in the entire testes region of the old mice. In addition, old TRPV1 KO mice had lower testicular apoptosis than that of WT mice. Our results show that TRPV1 induces testicular apoptosis and suggest that TRPV1 may be associated with testicular aging.

        해운산업구조의 변화에 따라 다양한 국적의 선원을 자국민 선원과 함께 승선시키는 혼승선박이 증가하고 있다. 선상 업무의 특성과 함께 혼승에 따른 문화가 형성되고 이는 선내 생활환경의 변화를 초래하여 의사소통의 문제, 교육훈련의 부족 등 다양한 문제점을 야기하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 혼승에 따른 문제점을 파악하고 해결하기 위해 외항선 외국인선원 입국 후 교육의 체계화를 위한 방안을 제시하였다. 다양한 규모의 선사에서 외국인선원의 인사 관련 업무를 담당하고 있는 인원을 대상으로 설문을 실시하고 IBM SPSS Statistic 26 프로그램을 사용하여 설문 결과를 분석하였다. 설문 조사 결과에 따라 외국인선원 교육형태, 교육방법, 문제점 등을 파악하고 이를 기반으로 관련 교육의 체계화를 통해 문제점을 해결할 3가지 개선방안을 제시하였다.

        본 연구는 동양전통의 오방색을 실내 건축에 적용하기 위한 것으로 가족 구성원별 특징에 따라 바람직한 색채 구성 디자인을 제안하는데 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 동양의 전통 술수학인 사주와 풍수의 오방색의 개념과 본질을 규명하였다. 그리고 실제 사례를 통해 실내 색채 디자인을 구성하고자 하였으며 특히 전통적인 오방색 및 오정색에 대한 분석을 하였다. 나아가 상생 오간색 및 상극 오간색으로 색채를 구체화하여 현대적 적용방안까지 고려하였다. 현대적 적용 방법으로 첫째, 24방위도를 24색상환으로 만들어 색상과 방위를 동시에 판단 할 수 있도록 하였다. 둘째, 24방위 색상환을 평면도에 접목하여 비보색상을 적용할 정확한 위치를 판단하였다. 셋째, 판단한 위치와 색상을 실내재료 마감재 선택 및 소품 적용시 활용할 수 있게 하였다. 연구결과 향후 실내 색채구성에 있어 동양의 전통색의 적용이 가능하였고, 이를 응용한 현대적 색채 구성도 가능한 것으로 나타났다.

        Background: An excessive pronated foot is defined as a flattening or complete loss of the medial longitudinal arch. Excessive foot pronation is considered to have high risk factors of overuse injuries in the lower limb. Various treatments have been investigated in attempts to control excessive pronation. Objects: This meta-analysis identifies the effects of an anti-pronation taping technique using different materials. Methods: The electronic databases used include MEDLINE, the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), Science Direct, the Korean Studies Information Service System (KISS), the Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), the Korea National Library, and the Korean Medical Database (studies published up to July 31, 2019). The database search used the following keywords: "foot drop" OR "foot arch" OR "foot pronation" OR "flat foot (pes planus)" AND "taping" OR "support." Eight eligible studies were analyzed to determine the effectiveness of anti-pronation taping in study and control groups. Results: The overall random effect size (Hedges’ g) of the anti-pronation taping technique was 0.147 (95% confidence interval [CI]: -.214 to .509). When the effect (Hedges’ g) was compared by the type of tape material, rigid tape (RT; Lowdye taping) was .213 (95% CI: -.278 to .704) and kinesiotape (KT; arch support taping) was -.014 (95% CI: -.270 to .242). Based on this meta-analysis, it was not possible to identify the extent to which anti-pronation taping was effective in preventing navicular drop, improving balance, or changing foot pressure. Only three of the eight eligible studies applied KT on excessive pronated feet, and the outcome measure areas were different to those of the RT studies. The KT studies used EMG data, overall foot posture index (FPI) scores, and rear foot FPI scores. In contrast, the RT studies measured navicular heights, various foot angles, and foot pressure. Conclusion: This review could not find any conclusive evidence about the effectiveness of any taping method for patients with pronated feet. Future studies are needed to develop the anti-pronation taping technique based on the clinical scientific evidence.

        이 논문의 목적은 “네 이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하라”는 이웃사랑의 계명이 오늘날 현대인에게 어떤 의미가 있으며, 그것이 어떻게 가능한지를 지젝의 이웃 사랑의 윤리의 관점에서 논구하는 것이다. 지젝은 올바른 이웃사랑을 실천하기 위해서는 상징질서를 매개로 이웃의 근본적 타자성과 관계해야 한다고 주장한다. 또한 그는 상징 질서의 규제를 받게 되어 기표의 힘에 압도당하는 이웃의 차원뿐만 아니라 법과 제도 등 사회체제에서 배제되거나 억압당하는 이웃의 차원을 동시에 사랑해야 한다고 주장한다. 그리고 마주하는 타자가 아니라 이웃의 이웃인 제3자를 사랑함으로써 제3자가 나의 이웃사랑에서 배제되지 않도록 함 으로써, 동시에 마주하는 가까운 이웃까지도 사랑할 수 있게 하는 것이다. 이웃사랑의 현대적 의미는, 현대인은 상징적 규범이 강제하는 획일성과 존재의 위계체계에 갇히지 않은 채 주체의 나르시시즘적 자아구조에서 벗어나 새로운 윤리적 주체와 사랑의 관계를 맺을 수 있게 되고, 이를 바탕으로 서로 이웃 사랑이 가능한 새로운 윤리의 현실 세계를 개척해 나갈 수 있게 된다는 것이다.
