        We recently described a novel animal model of trigeminal neuropathic pain following compression of the trigeminal ganglion (Ahn et al., 2009). In our present study, we adapted this model using male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing between 250-260 g and then analyzed the behavioral responses of these animals following modified chronic compression of the trigeminal ganglion. Under anesthesia, the rats were mounted onto a stereotaxic frame and a 4% agar solution (10μL) was injected in each case on the dorsal surface of the trigeminal ganglion to achieve compression without causing injury. In the control group, the rats received a sham operation without agar injection. Air-puff, acetone, and heat tests were performed at 3 days before and at 3, 7, 10, 14, 17, 21, 24, 30, 40, 55, and 70 days after surgery. Compression of the trigeminal ganglion produced nociceptive behavior in the trigeminal territory. Mechanical allodynia was established within 3 days and recovered to preoperative levels at approximately 60 days following compression. Mechanical hyperalgesia was also observed at 7 days after compression and persisted until the postoperative day 40. Cold hypersensitivity was established within 3 days after compression and lasted beyond postoperative day 55. In contrast, compression of the trigeminal ganglion did not produce any significant thermal hypersensitivity when compared with the sham operated group. These findings suggest that compression of the trigeminal ganglion without any injury produces prolonged nociceptive behavior and that our rat model is a useful system for further analysis of trigeminal neuralgia.

        The present study investigated inflammatory hypersensitivity following compression of the trigeminal ganglion in rats. Experiments were carried out on male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 250-260 g. Under anesthesia, rats were mounted on a stereotaxic frame and injected with 8μL of 4% agar solution through a stainless steel injector to compress the trigeminal ganglion. In the control group, rats underwent a sham operation without agar injection. Injection sites were examined with a light micrograph after compression of the trigeminal ganglion. Air-puff thresholds (mechanical allodynia) were evaluated 3 days before surgery and 3, 7, 10, 14, 17, 21, 24, 30, and 40 days after surgery. Air-puff thresholds significantly decreased after compression of the trigeminal ganglion. Mechanical allodynia was established within 3 days and remained strong over 24 days, returning to preoperative levels approximately 40 days following compression. After subcutaneous injection of 5% formalin (50μL) in the compression of the trigeminal ganglion-treated rats, nociceptive scratching behavior was recorded for 9 successive 5-min internals. Injection of formalin into the vibrissa pad significantly increased the number of scratches and duration of noxious behavioral responses in sham-treated rats. Noxious behavioral responses induced by subcutaneous formalin administration were significantly potentiated in rats with trigeminal ganglion compression. These findings suggest that compression of the trigeminal ganglion enhanced formalin-induced infla-mmatory pain in the orofacial area.

        국민소득수준의 향상에 따라 국내 건축물의 디자인 및 사용목적의 대한 다양성이 요구되고 있다. 대공간 구조물은 이러한 시대적 요구에 적합한 구조물로서 최근 대공간 구조물에 대한 설계 및 시공법에 관한 관심이 꾸준히 증가하고 있다. 트러스구조는 대공간 구조에 보편적으로 사용되는 구조시스템으로 트러스의 부재는 단면의 효율이 높은 강관을 사용하는 것이 일반적이다. 현재 국내에 유통되고 있는 강관은 생산처에 따라 다양한 제품이 생산되고 있으나 강관 소재의 출처 및 강관 자체의 실제 성능에 관한 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 이 연구는 국내에 유통되고 있는 일반구조용 각형강관, 원형강관 및 비계용 강관에 대하여 소재의 인장시험과 Stub-column 압축시험 및 기둥의 좌굴실험을 통해 강관의 소재성능 및 구조부재로서의 압축성능을 파악하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 소재시험결과, 구입처 구분 및 단면형상에 따른 강관 소재성능의 편차가 확인되었다. 기둥좌굴 실험결과, 각 실험체의 압축내력은 LSD 기준곡선에 만족하는 결과를 나타내었으며, SSRC 곡선1, ECCS-a곡선에 상회하는 결과를 나타내었다.

        The object of this study is to investigate the penetration characteristics according to the change of stacking sequences and curvature radius in the composite laminated shell. They are staked to [02/902]S and [0/902/0]s, their interlaminar number are two and four. We are manufactured to composite laminated shells with various curvature radius. Curvature radius of composite shell is 100, 150, 200mm and ∞(it's meaning flat-plate). In general, kinetic energy after impact-kinetic energy before impact increased linearly in all specimens. Absorbed energy increased linearly as the curvature increased, and absorbed energy of [02/902]S specimen, which is small interlaminar number, was higher than [0/902/0]s specimen.

        The objective of the present study is to investigate the increase in the functional characteristics of a substrate by the formation of a thin coating layer. Thin coating layers of have high potential because exhibits high hardness. Shock induced reaction synthesis is an attractive fabrication technique to synthesize uniform coating layer by controlling the shock wave. Ti and Si powders to form using shock induced reaction synthesis, were mixed using high-energy ball mill into small scale. The positive effect of this technique is highly functional coating layer on the substrate due to ultra fine substructure, which improves the bonding strength. These materials are in great demand as heat resisting, structural and corrosion resistant materials. Thin coating layer was successfully recovered and showed high Vickers' hardness (Hv=1183). Characterization studies on microstructure revealed a fairly uniform distribution of powders with good interfacial integrity between the powders and the substrate.

        보강판은 선박이나 해양구조물에서 폭넓게 사용되고 있는 기본적인 강도 부재이다. 이러한 보강판은 선박의 갑판부, 선측부, 선저부에 흔히 사용되고 있다. 보강판은 보강재가 어느 한 방향으로 또는 양방향으로 구성되어 있으며 후자에 대해서 보통 그릴리지라고 한다. 보강판의 좌굴 및 소성붕괴는 선각거더의 파손 원인이 되므로 좌굴 및 최종강도가 정확하게 규명할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 범용유한요소해석코드인 ANSYS를 이용하여 좌굴 및 좌굴 후 거동에 대한 평가를 수행하고 보강재 치수변화, 수압의 영향을 고려하여 압축최종강도에 대해 해석 수행하였다.

        비대칭 및 대칭 변단면 압축재( = m)의 임계하중을 수치 해석법의 하나인 유한 요소법으로 결정하였다. 해석에서 고려한 변수는 taper parameter(=a) 와 단면 성능 변수 m이다. 구조설계 및 구조의 안전 검토에 임하는 구조 기술자들의 편의를 위하여 유한요소법으로 결정한 임계하중의 계수 변화는 하나의 대수식으로 표시하였다. 대수식에 나타나는 계수들은 회귀분석법으로 결정하였다.

This study is to explore the use of warm compaction process to aluminium powder metallurgy. This paper presents a detailed study of the effect of warm compression and sintering conditions on the resultant microstructures and mechanical properties of Al-Cu-Mg-Si PM blend.

        STEP is the international standard for the computer-interpretable representation and exchange of product data. STEP physical file as the implementation method of STEP generally has a large file size which may be an obstacle of efficient use and seamless transition through network. Therefore, the compression of STEP physical file has been interested recently. In this paper, we present the compression algorithm of STEP physical file. STEP physical file is compressed by LZ77 with an appropriate search buffer size for STEP physical file and Huffman coding is applied to the result of LZ77. The proposed algorithm obtains the significant compression ratio.

        Since transmitting various files around Internet is one of common activities in everyday life, the compression is important technical issue in these days. Shape models are also frequently transmitted and therefore its compression has also been studied. Considering the large portion of shape model can be normal vectors, a new scheme was recently presented to compress normal vectors using clustering and mixed indexing scheme. Presented in this paper is a mathematical investigation of the scheme to analyze the probability distribution of normal index distances in Normal Index array which is critical for the compression. The probability distribution is formulated so that the values can be easily calculated once the relative probabilities of C, R, E, S, and L op-codes in Edgebreaker are known. It can be shown that the distribution of index distances can be easily transformed into a few measures for the compression performance of the proposed algorithm.

        As the transmission of 3D shape models through Internet becomes more important, the compression issue of shape models gets more critical. The issues for normal vectors have not yet been explored as much as it deserves, even though the size of the data for normal vectors can be significantly larger than its counterparts of topology and geometry. Presented in this paper is an approach to compress the normal vectors of a shape model represented in a mesh using the concept of clustering. It turns out that the proposed approach has a significant compression ratio without a serious sacrifice of the visual quality of the model.
