        This qualitative study applies the frameworks of language socialization and social network theory to investigate how international students’ construction and negotiation of their identities influence their L2 writing development. Two students (One Korean and one Motswana) at a US university, one from South Korea and one from Botswana, participated in a year-long study, which included semi-structured interviews and classroom observations. For purposes of triangulation, the data for this study were collected for a year from multiple sources. The findings indicate that instructors can play a crucial role in enabling international students to expand their social networks, for example, by helping them locate and utilize available resources to develop their L2 writing, and by providing additional scaffolding to help them understand group dynamics and become active learners in their new communities. The results offer pedagogical implications on the role of instructors and universities in providing explicit guidance to empower international students to better socialize into the new community.

        Vitamin K1 (VK1) has been widely used as a coumarin antagonist and for the treatment of hemorrhagic disease in veterinary practice. However, the potential mechanism of adverse reaction after VK1 injection has been not fully elucidated. In this study, two cases of anaphylactic reactions after subcutaneous VK1 injection were presented, and then an experimental study was performed to further characterize the anaphylactic reactions. Two dogs developed anaphylactic reactions after subcutaneous VK1 injections and were promptly treated with antihistamines and glucocorticoids, after which abnormal signs related to anaphylaxis disappeared. Subsequently, a study was undertaken to ascertain the nature of the adverse reactions to subcutaneous VK1 injection. Six healthy laboratory beagle dogs received subcutaneous VK1 administrations once daily for eight days. They were monitored for clinical signs after each injection, and blood samples were collected for the measurement of plasma histamine and immunoglobulin E concentrations using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. All six dogs showed mild angioedema after the VK1 injections. The dogs also displayed clinical signs including sneezing, coughing, skin reddening, excess salivation, pawing the ground, and somnolence on days 4, 6, and 8. Plasma histamine and immunoglobulin E concentrations were significantly increased by the repeated injections. In summary, this study describes anaphylactic reactions resulting from subcutaneous VK1 administration in dogs. Clinicians should be aware that the repeated subcutaneous injection of VK1 can trigger an anaphylactic reaction in dogs.

        2011년 4월 29일부터 30일까지 몽골에서 발원한 황사의 영향으로 우리나라는 4일간 전국적으로 고농도의 황사 가 관측되었다. 본 연구는 몽골의 황사발원지에서 황사 발생 시 기상 조건과 고농도 황사 사례의 원인 및 특성을 알아 보기 위한 것으로, 황사 일기도 자료, 황사감시기상탑 자료, 위성 자료, 후방공기궤적 자료, 관측자료(PM10 및 광학입자 계수기 자료), ECMWF 재분석 자료를 이용하였다. 분석 결과, 종관 분석에서는 몽골 중부지역에 등압선의 간격이 조밀 하게 분포하고 기압경도력이 강해지면서 강풍에 의해 황사가 발원하였다. 황사 발원과 기상 조건의 관계에서 황사 발원 직전에는 10oC 이상으로 비교적 높은 기온을 나타내다 황사 발원과 동시에 급감하였으며, 상대습도는 약 40% 이하의 낮은 값을 지속적으로 나타내다 황사 발원 후에는 50% 이상으로 급격히 높아지며 황사의 발생이 줄어드는 경향을 보 였다. COMS에서 관측된 황사지수는 황사발원지에서는 25 이상을 나타내면서 고농도의 황사가 탐지되었고, 실황에서 목측으로 관측된 지점과 일치하였다. 72시간 후방공기궤적에서는 모두 북서 기류가 한반도로 유입되었고, 5월 2일 흑산 도에서는 PM10의 시간평균농도가 1,025 μg m−3으로 최고 농도를 보였다. 특히 운동학적 연직 분석에서, 상층에서 발달한 기압골과 저기압성 소용돌이도에 의해 지상 저기압이 강화되고 동시에 상승 기류의 발달이 고농도의 황사 발생에 큰 역할을 한 것으로 판단된다.

        Bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis (BRONJ) is an adverse event associated with bisphosphonate drug treatment. An 81-year-old female has been taking bisphosphonates orally once a month for three years complained of pain in the left mandibular molar area after implant placement. Tenderness and fistula were formed. Extensive osteosclerosis in posterior area of the left mandible and bone resorption around distal side of #37i were shown on radiographs. She was given oral antibiotics for 6 weeks and bone resorption was improved. A 70-year-old male had a history of intravenous injection of bisphosphonates for blood cancer complained of #46i implant mobility. There was buccal fistula on #45 site. Radiographically, severe bone resorption and extensive osteosclerosis were shown. He was treated with removal of implant and inflammatory tissue. Patients who have taken bisphosphonates may develop BRONJ after tooth extraction or implant placement and are needed to meticulous plaque control for preventing BRONJ.

        PURPOSES : In this study, model-agnostic methods are applied for interpreting machine learning models, such as the feature global effect, the importance of a feature, the joint effects of features, and explaining individual predictions. METHODS : Model-agnostic global interpretation techniques, such as partial dependence plot (PDP), accumulated local effect (ALE), feature interaction (H-statistics), and permutation feature importance, were applied to describe the average behavior of a machine learning model. Moreover, local model-agnostic interpretation methods, individual conditional expectation curves (ICE), local surrogate models (LIME), and Shapley values were used to explain individual predictions. RESULTS : As global interpretations, PDP and ALE-Plot demonstrated the relationship between a feature and the prediction of a machine learning model, where the feature interaction estimated whether one feature depended on the other feature, and the permutation feature importance measured the importance of a feature. For local interpretations, ICE exhibited how changing a feature changes the interested instance’s prediction, LIME explained the relationship between a feature and the instance’s prediction by replacing the machine model with a locally interpretable model, and Shapley values presented how to fairly contribute to the instance’s prediction among the features. CONCLUSIONS : Model-agnostic methods contribute to understanding the general relationship between features and a prediction or debut a model from the global and/or local perspective, securing the reliability of the learning model.

        본 연구에서는 정서곤충을 이용한 치유프로그램 활동이 지역아동센터를 이용하는 아동 43명의 스트레스에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 치유 프로그램에 이용된 정서곤충은 누에나방[Bombyx mori (Linnaeus)]이다. 스트레스의 정도는 타액 ɑ-아밀라아제 검사를 통해 측정하였다. 스트레 스 수치를 평가하기 위한 타액 샘플 채취와 곤충 선호도에 대한 설문지는 곤충치유활동에 참여하기 전과 후에 측정되었고, 활동을 모두 마친 후에는 치유프로그램 참여 경험에 대한 만족도 점수를 평가하였다. 분석 결과, 곤충치유프로그램 활동은 참여 아동의 타액 ɑ-아밀라아제 수치를 통계적으 로 낮추고, 곤충에 대한 선호도를 높여준다는 결과를 확인하였다. 누에를 이용한 치유프로그램 활동에 참가한 아동들의 만족도는 5점 만점에 4.23 점이었다.

        동반성장은 경제적 불평등을 극복하고 대기업과 중소기업 간 지속가능한 성장을 추구하는 한국형 포용적 성장 으로 이는 기업의 사회적 책무이자 경쟁전략이다. 한국중부발전은 해외사업 거점 국가인 인도네시아에 찌레본과 탄중자티 화력발전소 등 5개 발전소를 건설․운영하고 있으며 이들을 협력 중소기업의 수출 전진기지로 활용하여 국내 중소기업의 정비․기자재 수출을 지원하고 있다. 본 연구는 한국중부발전의 동반성장 노력과 차별적 발전모 델을 탐색하고 해외동반진출의 실제 적용 사례를 공유하고자 한다. 이를 위해 한국중부발전의 동반성장 패러다임 변화를 살펴보고 한국중부발전 고유의 중소기업 동반성장 플랫폼인 K-장보고 프로젝트와 지역사회 공헌 사례를 분석한다. 한국중부발전은 해외동반진출협의회를 구성하고 코미포 아시아와 코미포 팩토리를 활용하여 동반성장 기회를 제공함으로써 협력 중소기업의 해외진출을 견인하는 한편, 국내 우수중소기업과의 동반자적 관계를 바탕 으로 운영수익 극대화를 추구할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 네트워크 이론이 시사하는 협력관계를 통한 기업 간 자원 확보와 실질적 성과 개선 사례를 탐색함으로써 성공적인 동반성장을 위한 전략을 도출한다.

        Korea Research Reactor 1&2 (KRR-1&2), Korea’s first research reactor, began dismantling in 1997. As of 2022, the demolition of general areas such as offices has been completed, and contaminated areas such as reactor rooms remain. On the other hand, construction waste generated in contaminated areas of nuclear facilities cannot be disposed of as general industrial waste. It is predicted that about 5,000 tons of construction waste will be generated if the contaminated area of KRR-1&2 is demolished. In this study, the application plan for the demolition of contaminated area of KRR-1&2 was reviewed through a review of laws and cases related to domestic and overseas disposal. The only method for disposing of construction waste in contaminated areas that can be applied in Korea is clearance in accordance with Nuclear Safety Commission Notice No. 2020-06. In addition, there has been no case of demolishing large-scale nuclear facilities in Korea. Therefore, there are limitations in domestic laws and standards to be applied to the dismantling of contaminated areas of KRR-1&2. The IAEA and the United States specify comprehensive matters such as optimization of radiation protection and minimization of waste products. The EU recommends demolition after decontamination by removing contaminated areas before demolition of buildings. It also presents three options for reuse, recycling, and disposal of buildings and building waste. In particular, in the case of Germany, detailed radioactivity measurement methods for deregulation of buildings and building waste are presented in accordance with the EU’s guidelines. As a result of synthesizing this, it is judged that the EU and Germany building clearance plan will be suitable for domestic application.

        Decontamination and Dismantlement (D&D) are of great interest to owner of decommissioning as a large number of old nuclear facilities around the world are either shutdown or soon to be decommissioned. D&D are key steps in the decommissioning of nuclear power plants (NPPs). These activities typically generate a significant volume of radioactively contaminated waste. However, as much as 90% or more of this waste is lightly contaminated metal and concrete that could potentially be cleared for recycle or beneficial reuse, rather than disposed of as radioactive waste. The objective of this study is to provide reference for the application of current technologies to cost-effectively reduce the volume of radioactive waste associated with decommissioning, through review of experiences with decontamination of NPPs materials for unrestricted release, recycle or reuse, Also, highlights the importance of ongoing efforts to harmonize regulations and standards for radioactive waste management globally to enable reuse and recycle of valuable materials generated during decommissioning. The presented results in the balance of this study are organized to align with the sequence of operations for executing reuse or recycle of material for a decommissioning project. Concrete from buildings has most commonly been used for backfill of voids onsite, while metal has most commonly been melted or cleared into the conventional scrap recycling industry. Copper and lead, commonly found in cables and shielding, have high residual value and are thus highly desirable for recycling. Steel and stainless steel, while not inherently valuable, are present in many large components, such that decontamination for recycling can be cost-effective compared to disposal as radioactive waste. The decontamination techniques range from simple, inexpensive methods to complex, aggressive methods, each with advantages in various scenarios and limitations in others. Treatment often involves the sequential application of two or more decontamination techniques (e.g., chemical decontamination followed by abrasive blasting). Strategies for the characterization of materials for recycling include analyzing material in place before dismantlement, analyzing removed samples before or after dismantlement, and evaluating bulk material removed after dismantlement. If clearance and recycling are permitted, metals can be released to the conventional scrap recycling market, and concrete rubble can be used as backfill material onsite. In general, successful reuse/recycle projects require consideration of reuse/recycling objectives and implementation of associated planning activities early in the decommissioning process. The practicality of reuse/recycle depends on a number of high level (country and region-specific) and component level (material and case specific) factors. Since this information is useful to those responsible for planning or implementing the decommissioning of nuclear facilities, it is expected that it will be of great help especially to those in charge of decommissioning plan and managers in charge of decommissioning projects.

        Several previous simulation studies using various geochemical models have been carried out in several major analogue sites. The cases are beneficial when these studies provided the possibility of testing the geochemical models to be used to describe the migration of radionuclides in a future radioactive waste repository system. It was possible to interpret the complex transport behaviour of radionuclides such as uranium and thorium in an environment. We organize major natural analogue study sites from the previous literatures that provided information on the general geochemistry of the sites, in terms of groundwater composition and mineralogy. Also, we calculated aqueous speciation and the solid phases most likely to control their solubilities. The results obtained from the previous studies and this study vary depending on the tools used and on the conceptual models followed. Also, the results differed from the actual measured concentrations of trace metals or radionuclide analogues. The results obtained from these tests identify the main mathematical limitations of available geochemical models. However, the modelling results using a geochemical code with the thermodynamic database simulated well the observed behaviour of radionuclides, especially to identify the dominant processes controlling actinide mobilization and fixation. It was a useful outcome in terms of building confidence on the current geochemical tools to predict the concentrations of radionuclide analogues once the major geochemical characteristics were known. This study allows improving specific aspects of geochemical modelling using major natural analogue sites.

        To dry storage of spent nuclear fuel withdrawn the wet storage, all moisture inside the dry storage container must be removed to ensure the long-term integrity and retrievability. Substantial amounts of residual water in dry storage container may have potential impacts on the fuel, cladding, and other components in the dry storage system, such as fuel degradation and cladding corrosion, embrittlement, and breaching. The drying could perform as a vacuum drying process or a forced helium dehydration process. In NUREG-1536, the evacuation of most water contained within the canister is recommended a pressure of 0.4 kPa (3 torr) to be held in the canister for at least 30 minutes while isolated from active vacuum pumping as a measure of sufficient dryness in the canister. Monitoring the moisture content in gas removed from the canister is considered as a means of evaluating adequate dryness. Dew point monitoring and special techniques could be used to evaluate this adequacy. Various studies are continuing for quantitative evaluation of residual moisture inside the dry storage system. Andrawes proposed a methodology for determining trace water contents in gaseous mixtures, utilizing gas chromatography together with a helium ionization source. A microwave plasma source and emission spectrometry were utilized to determine trace amounts of bound water in solid samples using peak areas of atomic oxygen (O) and hydrogen (H) emissions. Bryans measured the gas samples taken from the High Burn-Up Demonstration Cask at three intervals: 5 hours, 5 days, and 12 days after the completion of drying and backfilling in the North Anna power Station. To measure water content, a Vaisala humidity probe was used. Final results indicated that the cask gas water content built up over 12 days to a value of 17,400 ppmv ±10%, equivalent to approximately 100 g of water within the entire cask gas phase. Tahiyats also proposed a methodology that involves a direct current (dc) driven plasma discharge and optical emission spectroscopy for detecting and quantifying water vapor in a flowing gas stream under both trace and high water vapor loading conditions. For detecting water vapor concentration, the emission from H at 656.2 nm was employed. The H emission is the red visible spectral line generated by a hydrogen atom when an electron falls from the third lowest to the second lowest energy level, this suggests that the normalized H intensity can be used as a marker for water vapor detection and quantification. Several of the attempts are continuing to quantify water contents in dry storage system. Lessons learned by Case studies would be provided insights into how to improve future measurements.

        The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) has been ratified by 168 countries. Among these countries, Indonesia is one of the most notable states concerning compliance with the provisions of the UNCLOS. However, the aggressive actions exhibited by countries seeking to become world hegemonies have resulted in the violation of the Convention. Therefore, this research aims to critically analyse the problems associated with any violations of sovereignty and sovereign rights by foreign research vessels which are conducting commercial and military navigation in Indonesian waters (territorial sea with the archipelagic waters and the inland waters). This research shows that the spirit of the Djuanda Declaration constituting the main principle of the Indonesian Republic is a legal ground for defending the national interest of Indonesia as an archipelagic state. This is the key to maintaining the integrity of sovereignty and national interest.

        북한 핵에 대한 IAEA의 사찰이 2002년 종료된 이후 북한은 2017년에 여섯 번째의 핵실험과 ICBM급인 화성-15형을 시험 발사하고 핵무력을 완성하였다고 선언하였다. 그리고 북한은 2021년 초 조선노동당 8차 대 회에서는 핵고도화 선언을 하기도 하였으며 2022년 들어 극초음속미사 일, IRBM, ICMB 등을 시험발사하며 한반도 정세를 더욱 악화시키고 있 다. 시간이 경과할수록 북한의 핵능력은 더욱 확장되고 고도화할 가능성 이 많다. 한국과 미국을 포함하는 국제사회는 북한과의 비핵화 협상을 적극 추진하고 실질적 검증을 통해 북한의 완전한 비핵화를 달성해야 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 군비통제 검증 분야의 역사적 성공 사례인 INF 조약 이행과정 분석을 통하여 북한 핵에 대한 핵심적 검증과정인 현장사찰을 촉진하는 방안을 모색하는 것이다. 북한의 완전한 비핵화를 위한 협상에 서 가장 고비가 될 수 있는 검증의 현장사찰에 관한 실행가능하고 발전 적인 방안은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 북한을 NPT에 복귀시키고 IAEA의 안전 조치협정에 가입하도록 하여 ‘IAEA 주도의 현장사찰’을 실시하여야 한 다. 둘째, 북한 핵시설 중 미신고·미공개된 핵시설에 대한 ‘선택적이고 효과적인 현장사찰’이 이루어져야 한다. 셋째, 북한의 폐쇄적인 사회적 특수성을 고려하여 ‘상호협력적 현장사찰’이 이루어져야 한다. 넷째, 다 양한 국내 및 국제기술수단을 이용하여 원격 감시, 위성 및 항공 감시, 핵관련 인원의 인터뷰, 문헌조사, 시료 채취 및 정밀분석 등을 시행하는 ‘과학기술 집약적 통합 현장사찰’이 이루어져야 한다.
