This paper explores the types of verbal humor that occur during interactions between teachers and learners in elementary-level English classes in Korea. Eighty-three videotaped ordinary English classes and interviews with seven teachers were analyzed. Spontaneous verbal humor was generally expressed in a mixture of English and Korean due to teachers’ and learners’ limited English proficiency. Wordplay was most prevalent, as learners often found Korean words that sounded similar to novel English terms. Teasing appeared quite frequently as well, with learners and teachers engaging in it to distract and gather attention, respectively. Senior students told the most jokes in order to save face. Narratives were found only in female teachers’ classes, as they shared personal anecdotes while their male counterparts did not. Meanwhile, hyperbole and self-deprecation were less likely to occur than other types of humor. Ultimately, humor is reaffirmed as a positive learning opportunity. Some pedagogical implications of these findings are suggested for English teachers.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the body mass index(BMI) and foot characteristics of senior-generation women and to use those values to develop a standard shoe last for producing shoes that best fit the foot of senior-generation women. In order to develop a standard shoe last that reflects the BMI and foot characteristics of senior-generation women, I analyzed the morphometric characteristics of feet by conducting descriptive statistics for each item. The foot characteristics based on BMI were analyzed by conducting ANOVA and Duncan's tests via the foot's measured values. Subsequently, I developed a standard shoe last reflecting the BMI and the foot characteristics of senior-generation women by applying all those values. Senior-generation women showed significant differences among three groups based on BMI—normal weight, overweight, and obese—in all the items except for medial ball width and toe 5 angle. Through these values, I realized that as the value of the BMI becomes higher, the size of the foot becomes larger. This suggests that as a woman's weight increases or decreases, her shoes need to be replaced as well as her clothes. Deviations in the toe-side parts of the shoe could cause deformation of the foot. If someone keeps wearing shoes produced using a shoe last with a large deviation, she risks developing foot conditions like hallux valgus. This situation points to the need for shoe manufacture that utilizes a standard shoe last that reflects the BMI and foot characteristics of the senior generation.
국제적인 양서류 감소의 한 요인으로 다양한 감염성 및 기생성 질병을 들고 있다. 국내에 판매를 목적으로 하는 개구리 양식장이 운영되고 있지만, 개구리 양식장에서 기생충을 포함하는 질병 발생에 대한 연구는 최근까지 수행되지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 인제, 괴산, 공주, 보령에 위치한 개구리 양식장 내‧외부에서 채집된 북방산개구리의 구두충 감염률 및 감염 개체수를 체강, 위, 소장과 대장의 신체부위별로 비교분석하였다. 또한, 18S rRNA 핵 유전자를 분석하 여 발견된 구두충을 속(genus)단위까지 동정하여 제시하였다. 조사된 북방산개구리의 51.7%가 구두충에 감염되었으며, 감염 구두충은 Centrorhynchus 속에 속한 구두충이었다. 인제 지역이 15%로 다른 세 지역에 비하여 감염률이 유의미하 게 낮았으며, 괴산 역시 55%로 통계적으로 차이는 없었지만, 공주(80%)나 보령(90%) 보다는 다소 낮았다. 양식장 내‧외부 간, 암수 간 감염률과 감염정도는 차이가 없었다. 감염된 구두충 수는 북방산개구리의 건강지수와 음의 상관을 보였으며, 신체부위별로는 위에서 가장 많은 구두충이 발견되었다. 우리의 결과는 국내 양서류에서 Centrorhynchus 구두충 감염의 최초보고로 개구리 양식장 내 구두충의 관리 필요성 및 다양한 지역에 위치한 양식장들 내에서 추가적인 질병연구의 필요성을 제안한다.
소비자들은 구두를 단순히 발을 보호하고 편안하게 해주는 역할 뿐만 아니라 장식과 자아 이미지를 표현해주는 패션제품으로써 인지하는 경향이 있다. 온라인 시장 분석에서 구두가 소비자들의 일상생활에서 중요한 제품이라고는 하였지만 인터넷 구두 시장을 조사한 연구는 드물다. 본 연구는 인터넷 구두시장에서 구두 e-충동구매과정에 대한 쇼핑성향, 마케팅 자극, 소비자들이 인지하는 위험지각의 영향에 초점을 맞추어 조사하였다. 최근 6개월 동안 구두 e-충동구매를 경험한 적이 있는 대학생들 총 408명을 대상으로 자기기술형식의 자료를 수집하였다. 결과에 의하면, 쾌락적 쇼핑성향이나 브랜드 쇼핑성향이 높은 소비자들은 인터넷에서 제공하는 마케팅 자극(판매촉진 자극이나 제품자 극)을 더 많이 인지하였고, 반면 경제적 쇼핑성향의 소비자들은 마케팅 자극을 더 낮게 인지하였으나 기능적인 위험은 더 높게 지각하는 것으로 나타났다. 구두의 경우, 마케팅 자극이 강할수록 e-충동구매는 증가하였으나 소비자들이 지각하는 위험은 e-충동구매에 아무런 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이러한 연구결과는 소비자의 쇼핑성향에 영향을 받는 마케팅 자극이 구두 e-충동구매를 유발하는데 중요한 요인임을 제안한다.
본 연구는 성격 유형과 연령별, 유행혁신성에 따른 구두 스타일 선호와 감성에 대해 연구한 것으로 실증적 연 구를 통해 이를 규명하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 편의표본 추출방식의 설문조사를 통한 연구를 하였으며 여대생 224명을 대상으로 조사하였다. 구두 스타일을 선정하기 위하여 구두 종류를 사전적 분류와 인터넷 검색을 이용 하여 현 여대생들에게 착용이 적합한 총 8개 구두를 선정하였다. 성격유형은 MBTI 간략척도를 본 연구에 맞게 수정하여 사용하였다. 감성척도는 선행연구를 통해 검증된 감성척도를 수정 보완하였으며 SPSS통계분석 결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 구두 스타일에 따라 선호와 감성에는 유의한 차가 있었으며 대응분석 결과, 구두의 감성은 4~5가지로 묶일 수 있었다. 둘째, 여대생의 성격유형별로 몇 가지 구두에서 선호와 감성의 유의한 차가 있었다. 셋째, 유행 혁신성에 따른 구두의 선호와 감성의 유의한 차가 있었으며 구매횟수에 따른 구두의 선호도에 유의한 차가 있었다. 본 연구결과를 통하여 소비자의 특성 및 유행이 급격하게 변화하는 구두시장에서 생산자, 소비자 모두에게 유용한 효과적인 정보 자료로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
The objectives of this study were to investigate whether heel height changes in the U.S. market occur in a cyclical pattern and heel heights show greater within-year variability over time. Heel height data from U.S. Vogue’s spring and fall editions were analyzed over the time period 1950~2014. A total of 1581 pieces of data were measured in millimeter units using Adobe Illustrator and standardized by dividing the height of the heel by the shoe length through the curved sole line. To analyze the cycle pattern of heel heights, the yearly averages were standardized by using three-year moving average technique to average out the irregular components of time series data and give a better indication of the long-term fluctuation of heel height. To identify the degree of within-year variability of heel height, the standard deviation of the average measurements for a year was calculated, and then decade averages were drawn from the yearly averaged standard deviation. One-way ANOVA was conducted to compare the within-year variability of data in heel height over the time period studied by decade. The results showed: First, there was a trend toward higher heels from the early 1950s to 2011. Second, four cyclical movements of heel height were observed from 1950 to 2007, and heel heights gradually decreased after 2008. Third, the within-year variability significantly increased over time, especially after the 1980s.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the changes in the electromyographic (EMG) activity of the trunk and the lower limb muscles during quiet standing on an unstable surface while wearing low-heeled shoes (3 ㎝), high-heeled shoes (7 ㎝) and without footwear (0 ㎝) in 20 young healthy women. The subjects stood on an unstable surface for 30 seconds. We examined the differences in the EMG data of the erector spinae, rectus abdominis, biceps femoris, rectus femoris, tibialis anterior, and the gastrocnemius medialis muscle. A one-way repeated analysis of variance was used to compare the effects of shoe heel height on the EMG activity with the level of significance set at α=.05. The EMG activity of the erector spinae and the rectus femoris were significantly increased (p<.05) in the subjects who wore elevated heel height, while the tibialis anterior and the gastrocnemius medialis were significantly decreased (p<.05). However, the rectus abdominis and the biceps femoris exhibited no significant difference among the three conditions. The above results indicate that wearing high-heeled shoes may change the postural strategy. The findings of this study suggest that excessive heel height could contribute to an increased fall risk during quiet standing.
한글 創製이후 방대한 한문전적에 대한 諺解작업은 가속화되어, 四書三經으로 대변되는 經書의 諺解뿐 아니라, 『杜詩諺解』를 비롯하여 『武藝圖譜通志諺解』에 이르기까지 다방면에 걸쳐 지속적으로 진행되었다. 따라서 文勢와 語脈을 파악해서 句讀를 떼고, 文義를 고려하여 口訣을 사용하여 懸吐하는 과정을 거쳐야만 한문전 적을 제대로 읽고 감상할 수 있다. 그럼에도 句讀와 懸吐, 口訣에 대한 연구는 별다른 진척이 없었던 상황이다. 최근 새로 발굴된 李森煥의 『句讀指南』, 任圭直의 『句讀解法』, 朴文鎬의 『俚讀解』는 句讀와 懸吐, 口訣을 체계적으로 정리한 자료로서, 당시 이와 관련한 學派혹은 學脈을 대변한다. 우리의 句讀는 중국과는 다르며, 특히 懸吐와 밀접한 관련을 맺는다. 따라서 句讀를 구분하더라도 어떠한 吐(口訣)를 붙이느냐에 따라 그 내용과 의미는 전혀 달라진다. 새로 발굴된 자료를 바탕으로 句讀와 懸吐, 口訣의 내용과 특징을 정리 하면 다음과 같다. 1. 文義을 중시하며, 文勢와 語脈을 고려한다. 2. 행위의 주체, 서술의 주체, 時制, 態, 문장구조 등을 고려한다. 3. 虛字, 助辭등을 주목하고 우리의 언어표현(尊稱)을 고려한다. 4. 특정 學派혹은 學脈의 句讀와 懸吐, 口訣에 대한 인식을 대표한다. 李森煥의 『句讀指南』은 懸吐와 口訣을 개괄적으로 설명하고 助辭의 용법을 특기하여 간략하게 정리한다. 한편, 任圭直의 『句讀解法』은 그 내용과 체제가 상 세하고 체계적이며, 懸吐와 口訣은 그 사례가 다양하고 상세하다. 특히, 句讀와 懸吐, 口訣에서 文義를 중시하고 文勢와 語脈을 고려하였음을 보여준다. 끝으로 朴文鎬의 『俚讀解』는 문법이나 구조에 따른 기계적 설명과는 달리, 文勢와 語脈 을 십분 고려하여 축약한 형태이다. 이러한 자료들은 현대 국어의 문법과 그 연관 성을 조명할 수 있는 귀중한 자료로 판단된다. 더욱이 19세기 무렵 다방면에 걸쳐 문헌전적에 대한 수집· 정리 작업이 진행되었던 상황과도 일정정도 관련이 있다 고 하겠다.
This studyinvestigated the preceding studies and concept of Glam Rock style, modernistically reinterpreted its aesthetic function and symbolism and connected them to design. It analyzed according to the standards for classification the Glam Rock style appearing mainly in the collections from 2002 S/S to 2007 S/S and presented four pieces of design through the analysis. Its findings are synthesized as follows.
First, unstructured design constitutes mule stressing gold cubic overall. It takes an unstable form by the placement of unshapely front ball of foot from transforming Chopin and a relatively poor heel. Second, over trimming constitutes separated pumps in the form of over trimming irregularly a piece of broken glass, metal and thumb tack. Third, Mix & Match combines Boot body of flexible knit material with an acrylic wedge sandal. Fourth, a platform sandal has the structure of color contrast between yellow and bronze in calf fur of tiger-skin pattern. I hope that this study will be developed by reflecting Glam Rock spirit and style as cultural phenomena through analyzing Glam Rock style and presenting design according to selected standards for classification, inferring plastic beauty of fashion shoes from them, investigating the change and feature of age-specific shoe design and making a new attempt possible.
The current study proposes the directions of oral communication education for adult learners. It reports the preliminary results of a survey into the workplace oral communication uses of business employees. A questionnaire was developed and administered to 121 employees working at 6 different companies. The questionnaire was constructed based on the oral communication forms, adapted and modified from the oral communication forms categorized by Crosling & Ward (2002). The oral communication forms within the organization were categorized into communication (1) with similar status staff, (2) with supervisors, (3) with lesser status staff, (4) in team works, and (5) in meetings. The most frequently occurring form of oral communication at work was 'communicating for networking' for similar status staff; 'following instructions and responding orally' for supervisors; 'informal conversation' for lesser status staff; 'participating in discussions' for teamwork'; and 'communicating for networking' for meetings. On the other hand, the most difficult form of oral communication at work was 'persuading' for similar status staff, for supervisors, for lesser status staff, and for meetings; and 'chairing and leading discussions' for teamwork. Implications for oral communication education are discussed in light of these findings.
This study aims at investigating the effects of phonological short-term memory (PSTM), learning styles, and oral repetition on middle school students" learning of English vocabulary. Two groups had different treatments (semantic learning and oral repetition) and vocabulary learning was assessed in spelling, meaning, and production twice, immediately after the learning sessions and two weeks thereafter. The results reveal that oral repetition and the PSTM capacity affected the vocabulary learning significantly, but not learning styles. The students with a higher PSTM capacity learned significantly more words but didn"t remember them better for a longer period than those with a lower PSTM capacity. No clear effects of learning styles were noted, while the PSTM capacity of auditory learners was higher than that of visual learners. The oral repetition group learned significantly more words than those who did only semantic learning, which suggests the usefulness of oral repetition in learning new vocabulary.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of English oral presentation strategy training (OPST) in EFL contexts. For this study, eight university students of 4 high and 4 low proficiency level are selected. The participants were provided with an OPST over 5 weeks including 8 times of training. During the OPST, the participants learned 25 strategy, 17 verbal and 8 non-verbal strategies. The verbal strategies were again divided into two parts: general verbal strategies and genre specific strategies. For the validity of the present study a “triangulation” was achieved through the use of video recording, classroom observation, questionnaire, in-depth interview, and the native English speaker’s evaluation. The results of the study demonstrated that the participants showed some improvement in the use of presentation strategies, especially organizational and verbal components of the strategies rather than nonlinguistic components. The proficiency level of the participants had an effect on the frequency of use of strategies after the OPST. Overall, the OPST was found to have positive effects on the participants’ attitude toward English oral presentations. On the basis of the results of the study, some teaching implications for improving presentation skills in university EAP contexts are provided.

The purpose of this study is to investigate an effective way of using real-time computer-mediated communication (CMC) tools for the development of Korean EFL learners’ oral communicative competence. The subjects of the study are the 53 first-year female university students and they are randomly assigned into three groups: text-, voice-, and video-chatting groups. The major results of the study are as follows: first, all the three synchronous CMC tools are effective in improving the fluency and accuracy of speaking skills. Second, the voice-based CMC tools, not the text-based one, are effective in improving the learners’ interactive skills and active use of communicative strategies. Third, all the three synchronous CMC tools are effective in enhancing the learners’ confidence in their English speaking abilities and beliefs in the improvement of their oral communicative competence. Lastly, the learners’ responses to the use of the CMC tools in performing communicative tasks are very positive in all the three groups. Based on these results, some pedagogical suggestions are made on the effective use of the synchronous CMC tools in Korean English classroom settings.

본 연구에서는 생활용품이면서 의복과 함께 생활필수품인 신발을 대상으로 감성만족도 요소의 추출과 분류체계를 개발하였다. 제화류의 감성만족도 요소는 감각성(sense), 적합성(fitness), 묘사성(description), 평가성(evaluation), 선호성(attitude)의 5개 그룹으로 구성되었으며, 각 그룹에는 형태감, 볼륨감 등 29개 요소가 포함되었다. 이들 중에서 일반 제화의 평가에 적합한 요소들로 형태감, 볼륨감, 균형감, 색감, 인체적합성, 안락성, 안정성, 여유성, 개념적 이미지, 품위감, 고급감, 조화감, 견고성, 주목성, 간편성, 신뢰성, 선호도, 수용도, 만족성, 매력성 등 20개의 요소들을 선택하여 이들에 대한 평가양식을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 감성만족도 요소는 제화류의 고객만족도 평가 모델링에서 종속변수로 활용될 수 있다.
This paper is to develope the more comfortable shoes for preventing sprain and slippery for the elderly. The shoes adding layers were designed using the shoe-last based on the Korean anthropometric data. The anthropometric elderly, arbitrarily defined as those 65 years of age and above, were a distinct with special needs. A total of 24 subjects participated. They evaluated each shoes using the shoe-last based on the Korean anthropometric elderly data and adding layer for preventing sprain and slippery. As results, the proposed shoes have the better functions for preventing sprain and slippery compared to others.
본 연구에서는 노인의 신체 특성에 적합한 고기능성 구두를 개발하기 위하여 한국인에 적합한 화형을 근간으로 하여 접질림과 미끄럼을 방지할 수 있는 노인화를 개발하였다. 본 연 에서는 인체 발 측정 및 체계적인 화형설계 과정을 거쳐 제작된 화형을 통한 수 차례의 착화시험에 의해 마련된 표준화형을 근간으로 노인용 화형을 제작하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 새로 개발된 노인용 구두는 접질림과 미끄럼을 방지할 수 있어 소비자의 요구에 조금 더 부합하게 하였고, 향후 보다 편리하고 기능성이 향상된 노인용 구두를 제작하기 위한 최적의 화형을 제작하고 건강기능성 부자재를 선정할 수 있는 기반을 마련하였다.
