Plant biosecurity refers to measures that aim to prevent the introduction and spread of pests that pose potential risks to plant health. This core concept underpins the approach undertaken by the National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO), where pre-border, border, and post-border biosecurity activities focus on early detection and rapid response. The approach recognizes the continuum from pre- to post-border, resource allocation is currently being reviewed to ensure an appropriate balance for effective risk mitigation. National Priority Plant Pests with contingency plans highlight the types of threats facing the Korean peninsula faces from exotic plant pests. This will lead to transparency of NPPO activities and ensure that it has the people, resources, tools and systems to address its most important priorities and effectively manage current and future biosecurity challenges.
As the average temperature on Earth increases due to global climate change, crops are further needed to overcome this issue. Since sweet potato has high yield potential, can grow in harsh environments, and contains abundant nutrients, it is a potential substitute food in response to environmental crises. Compared to grains such as rice and barley, sweet potato has a lower glycemic load and contains various natural antioxidants, showing a variety of physiological functions. Thus, sweet potato is in the spotlight as a healthy food. Although domestic sweet potato production continued to decrease from 1990 to 2010, its production was maintained or slightly increased until 2020 due to the changes in consumers’ dietary habits that emphasize health. In this regard, steamed or roasted sweet potatoes were consumed as a snack substitute in the previous eating form. Furthermore, sweet potato starch has been used in various industries, including food. Therefore, this study intends to discuss the value of sweet potatoes as food, the production trend and cultivation method of sweet potatoes in South Korea, and the industrial application of sweet potatoes.
인류는 기후변화와 인구 구성 비율의 급격한 노령화 라는 두 가지 커다란 생존을 위협하는 문제점에 직면해 있다. 기후변화는 경제 발전과 운송 수단의 발달로 화석 연료 사용 증가에 따른 대기 중 온실가스 농도가 증가한 결과이고, 인구 구성 비율의 노령화는 선진국의 의 생명과학 기 술 발전과 개인 위생의 증진으로 기대 수명이 증가한 결과이다. 돌이킬 수 없는 전 지구적인 기후변화를 피하기 위해서는 빠른 기간 내에 온실 가 스의 배출이 없는 탄소 제로 경제로 전환을 해야 한다. 이 목표를 달성하기 위해서는 농업 중 온실가스의 발생이 가장 많은 낙농축산업을 저탄소 경영방식으로 전환하고 동시에 소비자들의 저탄소 식품들에 대한 인식의 변화가 필요하다. 현재 지구상 이용 가능 초지 중 77%가 가축용 사료 재배에 활용되지만, 인간이 섭취하는 전체 단백질의 37%와 총 열량의 18%만이 낙농축산업에서 얻어질 뿐이다. 그러므로, 가축보다 온실가스 배출량, 물의 사용량이 적고, 사육 공간이 작아도 되며 사료전환율이 높은 식용 곤충을 단백질원으로 활용해야 할 필요성이 있다. 이와 더불어 건 강기능 증진 효과가 있다고 과학적으로 밝혀진 누에와 같은 곤충들의 기능성을 활용하여 현재 치료 방법이나 예방법이 확립되지 않은 퇴행성 질 환들을 예방하고 치료를 촉진시킬 수 있는 기능성 식품 개발이 필요하다. 곤충은 동물 중 가장 오래 전에 지구상에 나타났고, 인간의 생존 유무와 상관없이 앞으로도 빠르게 진화를 하여 지구의 환경 변화에 적응하고 번성할 것이다. 그러므로, 다양한 식용 곤충과 누에를 포함한 약용 곤충을 이용한 산업은 현재 인류가 직면한 문제를 해결하여 미래에 인간이 지구에서 생존하고 번영할 수 있는 중요한 받침돌이 될 것이다.
Recently there has been debate in popular media on brands that used other cultures’ elements in their advertising (Green & Kaiser, 2017). For example, the Dutch brand “Rituals Cosmetics” attempted to promote their Asian-inspired product lines called “Samurai” and “Namasté” by hiring a Caucasian model dressed in a supposedly traditional Asian costume, while posing in a Chinese temple-like setting (Peters, 2018). Because the company’s European origin and the ethnicity of the model did not align with the Asian setting, props and apparel, this marketing activity can be considered an act of cultural appropriation. The advert has since sparked controversy on social media as cultural exploitation or unethical cultural appropriation (Bryanboy, 2018). To avoid such controversy, marketers need to achieve cultural sensitivity while effectively managing culturally overlapping situations (Usunier & Lee, 2005; De Mooij, 1998). A mismanagement of cultural appropriation is potentially eliciting a negative customer response. Hence, it is integral to understand how do customers respond to culturally appropriated elements in advertisement?
Deregulation of electricity market has brought new business opportunities for electricity suppliers. As of 2011, there are around 60 electricity retailers in the Danish market competing against each other (Yang, 2013). Thus, Danish households have the opportunities to choose different electricity services, green electricity services vs. the conventional brown electricity (generated from fossil fuels) service. However, statistics have indicated that the movement of electricity market deregulation has produced little effect on Danish consumers in terms of switching among suppliers or renegotiating an existing service contract (Yang, 2014). Unfortunately, evidences from the actual market show that the penetration of green electricity remains very low (Yang, 2013). This is bad, because Denmark’s long-term energy goal is to become a fossil fuel independent nation by 2050.
The study divided a sample 1022 respondents into two nearly equal sized sub-samples chosen from an Internet Panel administrated by a commercial marketing research firm. One subsample received a positive frame version of the questionnaire regarding subscribing to a green electricity contract, and the other subsample received a negative frame version of the questionnaire. The selected sample reflects the Danish population structure in terms of the major socio-economic variables such as gender and age. Contingent valuation (CV) method was used to value the households’ willingness to subscribe a green electricity service contract (Alberini & Kahn, 2006).
As expected, consumers displayed stronger intention to buy green electricity when the situation was framed in a positive maner (i.e., most Danish households have already bought it), as compared to the situation was framed in a negative manaer. The theoretical explaning can be formulated in terms of the theory of social norms. The framing effect also signals the public good side of green electricity in that there seems to be a free rider problem. The relatively low intention to buy green electricity in the negative frame manner (i.e., a few Danish household has bought green electricity) indicates that the free-rider incentive is particularly powerful in large group, where an indivudal may percived that her or his behavior will have only little influence on the collective outcome (Olsen, 1970). The results confimrs the finding from (Ek & Söderholm, 2008).
We study liberals and conservatives in the United States and Korea to see how they respond to charity advertising that appeals to either equality or proportionality. The findings robustly demonstrate that in both countries, liberals respond more favorably to equality appeals, but conservatives respond more favorably to proportionality appeals. Study 1, conducted in the United States, finds that liberals find equality appeals more effective, but conservatives find proportionality appeals more effective. Study 2, conducted in Korea, shows that liberals (conservatives) estimate that they are more (less) likely to receive rewards for donating when charity advertising uses equality rather than proportionality appeals.
현재 국내 자동차 산업의 환경은 국제표준인 ISO 26262의 등장으로 새로운 국면의 단계에 와있다. 자동차 설계의 전 단계에 있어서 차량의 안전성과 신뢰성을 만족 시 키기기 위해 세부 활동과 프로세스 단계별 수행에 따른 산출물을 요구하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 ISO 26262의 수행활동 중 개념설계 단계에서 요구되는 개발 환경을 모델 기반 시스템공학 기법을 적용함으로써 ISO 26262 대응에 관한 적용 기법안을 도출하 려고 한다. 특히, ISO 26262에서 제시하는 프로세스 중 하나인 개념 단계에서 요구되 는 활동과 산출물을 본 연구를 통해 추구하는 연구 결과를 기반으로 향후 추가 연구 를 수행하면, ISO 26262에 대응하지 못하고 있는 자동차 산업에서의 중소업체들이 자 동차 시스템 개발에서 전면적인 모델기반 시스템공학 방법론 기반으로 ISO 26262에 대한 대응하기 위한 발전과정에 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.
Purpose – This study empirically analyses the changes in unemployment rates to understand push factors of generating wage pressure and how it affects the aggregate demand in Korea and the United States. We use a structural macroeconomic model which is centered on the labor market and simultaneously explains the natural rate of unemployment and deviations.
Research design, data and methodology – We attempt to empirically analyse the unemployment rates through two countries to analyse the economic effects of real wages and aggregate demand between 2000 and 2016. We introduce having estimated the whole model that the growth of unemployment into the part caused by each of these factors.
Results – The results of this study show that in the long run, there is not only a natural level of employment but also a natural level of real demand are positively related. in the short run, demand can vary from bring about changes in employment by means of price or wage surprises.
Conclusions – The pressure of demand in the labor market shows up strongly in both countries. The estimated labor-demand equation are consistent with this framework and generally have well defined real wage and demand effects.
The ubiquitin-26S proteasome system is important in the quality control of intracellular proteins. The ubiquitin-26S proteasome system includes the E1 (ubiquitin activating), E2 (ubiquitin conjugating) and E3 (ubiquitin ligase) enzymes. U-box proteins are a derived version of RING-finger domains, which have E3 enzyme activity. Here, we present the isolation of a novel U-box protein, OsUPS, from rice (Oryza sativa).The cDNA encoding the O.sativa U-box protein(OsUPS) comprises 1338bp, with an open reading frame of 445 amino acids. The open reading frame of the OsUPS protein is comprised of notable domains: a single ~70-amino acid domain and a GKL domain that contains conserved glycine, lysine/ arginine residues and leucine-rich feature. We found that full-length expression of OsUPS was up-regulated in both rice plants and cell culture in the absence of inorganic phosphate (Pi). A self-ubiquitination assay indicated that the bacterially expressed OsUPS protein had E3 ligase activity, and subcellular localization results showed that OsUPS was located in the chloroplast. Suppression of OsUPS resulted in servre signs of toxicity caused by the over-accumulation of Pi. These results support the notion that OsUPS plays an important role in the Pi signaling pathway through the ubiquitin-26S proteasome system.
본 논문은 국제해사기구 - 해양환경보호위원회 제46차(외교회의 결정 2001년 10월 5일)회의에서 유기주석계 방오도료 사용금지 (2003년 1월 1일 선체 사용금지, 2008년 1월 1일 선체 잔존금지)에 따른 국내 업계의 동향을 조사·분석하고 이를 바탕으로 유해방오시스템 협약과 연계된 국내법 마련(해양환경관리법 입법 방향, 선박안전법의 개정안)과 아울러 국제방오시스템증서 발급 방안, 효과적인 유해방오시스템 규제 방안(항만국 통제의 방안)을 마련하였다.
