        무용수는 공연에 대한 스트레스, 식이 조절, 근골격계 손상 등으로 신체조성의 수준이나 골밀 도에 문제가 있는 것으로 알려지고 있다. 이러한 문제로 인하여 한국무용수가 가지고 있는 신체 조성과 골밀도의 특성을 평가하여 건강상태를 파악하고 그에 따른 관리가 이루어질 필요가 있 다. 따라서, 본 연구는 dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry(DEXA)를 이용하여 한국무용 전공 여대생 10명과 일반 여대생 10명의 신체조성과 골밀도를 비교분석하는데 그 목적이 있다. 신체조성은 측정된 DEXA의 결과에서 body mass index(BMI), 체지방률, 근육량, 제지방량을 사용하였으며 골 밀도는 팔, 다리, 척추, 골반 부위의 골밀도 값을 사용하였다. 연구결과 두 집단 간의 BMI(p=.313), 체지방률(p=.060), 근육량(p=.264), 제지방량(p=.272)의 신 체조성은 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었으며, 팔(p=.055), 다리(p=.105), 척추(p=.276), 골반 (p=.126) 부위의 골밀도 또한 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다. 결론적으로 한국무용 전공 여대 생과 일반 여대생의 신체조성 및 골밀도의 차이는 없었다. 이러한 연구결과는 한국무용수에게 한국무용과 식이 섭취 경향이 골밀도와 신체조성을 부정적으로 변화시키지 않았으며 오히려 긍 정적인 영향을 준 가능성이 시사되었다.

        Dental implants were used for reconstruction of oromaxillofacial defects and they were widely used in dental and medical fields. The implant materials are various , including titanium and ceramics such as zirconium. The property of implant materials have biocompatibility and mechanical strength. Titanium has direct bone anchorage without any other tissues between implant's interface. many researcher's had studied for raising the osseointegration success rate through various method. It was reported over 95% success ratio. many researcher's study the enhancing the speed of bone remodelling and osseointegration. Low Level Laser Therapy is one of the method to accelerlate the speed of bone remodelling and osseointegration. Thus it raise initial stability. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of diode laser irradiation for ossoeintegration in implant interface and between the implants threads. 24 New Zealand white rabbits which were about 3Kg, used for experiment. 2 implant's were implanted every rabbit's tibia. 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks after implantation, tissue sample were removed from sacrificed rabbit's tibia. 8 rabbit's were sacrificed every 2, 4, 8 weeks and undecalcified sample were got from tissue sample. The undecalcified samples were investigated by optical microscope. 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks experimental groups which were irradiated low level laser therapy showed rapid bone remodelling than control groups. it showed many difference especially in initial stage. Low level laser irradiation increase the volume of new bone formation in implant interface . It was suggested that there were many influence in bone remodelling in early stage, because these were many differences between experimental and control groups. Low level laser irradiation were helpful for immediate loading implant

        본 연구는 안전하면서 효율적으로 비만을 개선시키는데 도움이 될 수 있는 식품소재로 목이버섯을 선정하여 복부비만이 있는 중년 여성의 골밀도 및 혈청지질농도에 미치는 영향에 대하여 알아보고자 하였다. 30~50대의 복부비만 여성 30명에게 4주 동안 대조군은 목이버섯을 섭취시키지 않았고, 실험군은 목이버섯을 식사와 함께 섭취하도록 하였다. 실험 전 후 골밀도(T-score, Z-score), 총 콜레스테롤, HDL-콜레스테롤, LDL-콜레스테롤, 중성지방을 측정하였다. 연구결과, 목이버섯 섭취군과 대조군 간에 T-score와 Z-score는 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았지만, 목이버섯 섭취군의 혈청 총 콜레스테롤, LDL-콜레스테롤 및 중성지방 수준이 대조군에 비해 유의하게 소되었다.

        Whereas calcium deposition in soft tissues is not uncommon, highly-structured, identified as mature cancellous bone within soft tissues is not frequent. Here, we report an usual case of mature cancellous bone in cheek subcutaneous tissue in 15-year-old Korean male. Microscopically the cancellous bone was encompassed by epithelial cells, which was confirmed by immunohistochemical staining with cytokeratin AE1/3. The present mature cancellous bone in subcutaneous tissue could be originated from oral epithelium.

        Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), PLLA/hydroxyapatite (HA), PLLA/multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs)/HA, PLLA/trifluoroethanol (TFE), PLLA/gelatin, and carbon nanofibers (CNFs)/β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) composite membranes (scaffolds) were fabricated by electrospinning and their morphologies, and mechanical properties were characterized for use in bone tissue regeneration/guided tissue regeneration. MWNTs and HA nanoparticles were well distributed in the membranes and the degradation characteristics were improved. PLLA/MWNTs/HA membranes enhanced the adhesion and proliferation of periodontal ligament cells (PDLCs) by 30% and inhibited the adhesion of gingival epithelial cells by 30%. Osteoblast-like MG-63 cells on the randomly fiber oriented PLLA/TEF membrane showed irregular forms, while the cells exhibited shuttle-like shapes on the parallel fiber oriented membrane. Classical supersaturated simulated body fluids were modified by CO2 bubbling and applied to promote the biomineralization of the PLLA/gelatin membrane; this resulted in predictions of bone bonding bioactivity of the substrates. The β-TCP membranes exhibit good biocompatibility, have an effect on PDLC growth comparable to that of pure CNF membrane, and can be applied as scaffolds for bone tissue regeneration.

        Periodontal disease induces an increased incidence of tooth loss, particularly in cases with an associated loss of alveolar bone and periodontal ligaments. In this study, alveolar bone loss was detected by micro-computed tomography (CT) following exposure to E. coli lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in a streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic mouse model. A 10 mg/ml dosage of E. coli LPS was applied between the first, second and third molars of the mice three times a week for 10 weeks. The loss of periodontal ligaments and alveolar processes was then evaluated by micro-CT using two and three dimensional microstructure morphometric parameters. In the diabetic mice, E. coli LPS induced the destruction of periodontal ligaments and loss of alveolar process spaces. The distances between periodontal ligaments were significantly widened in the STZ-LPS group compared with the untreated STZ group. The 10 mg/ml exposure to E. coli LPS in the STZ mice also resulted in a significant decrease in the alveolar bone volume fraction. The results of our study suggest that alveolar bone loss can be readily detected by volumetric micro-CT analysis as an increase in the distance between periodontal ligaments and in the alveolar process length.

        Adult stem cell transplantation has been increased every year, because of the lack of organ donors for regenerative medicine. Therefore, development of reliable and safety cryopreservation and bio-baking method for stem cell therapy is urgently needed. The present study investigated safety of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) such as common cryoprotectant on porcine bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells (pBM-MSCs) by evaluating the activation of Caspase-3 and -7, apoptosis related important signal pathway. pBM-MSCs used for the present study were isolated density gradient method by Ficoll-Paque Plus and cultured in A-DMEM supplemented 10% FBS at in 5% incubator. pBM-MSCs were cryopreserved in A-DMEM supplemented either with 5%, 10% or 20% DMSO by cooling rate at /min in a Kryo 360 (planner 300, Middlesex, UK) and kept into . Survival rate of cells after thawing did not differ between 5% and 10% DMSO but was lowest in 20% DMSO by 0.4% trypan blue exclusion. Activation of Caspase-3 and -7 by Vybrant FAM Caspase-3 and -7 Assay Assay Kit (Molecular probes, Inc.OR, USA) was analyzed with a flow cytometer. Both of cryopreserved and control groups (fresh pBM-MSCs) were observed after the activation of Caspase-3 and -7. The activation did not differ between 5% and 10% DMSO, but was observed highest in 20% DMSO. Therefore 5% DMSO can be possibly used for cell cryopreservation instead of 10% DMSO.

        It has been documented that SPA0355 exerts anti-inflammatory effects via the inhibition of nuclear factor¬kappaB activation. In present study, we investigated the inhibitory effects of SPA0355 on periodontitis in an animal model. Periodontitis was induced by ligation of the cervix of the 1st molar in the left mandible in rats. After ligature, the rats were randomly divided into four groups and topically applied with SPA0355 (0.5, 1, and 2%) or the vehicle alone once daily for 10 days. Body weight and food intake were measured daily throughout the experimental period. At day 10 post-ligature, the infiltration of inflammatory cells and distance of the cementoenamel junction (CEJ) to the alveolar bone crest (ABC) in the distal area of ligatured tooth were estimated histopathologically. No changes in body weight or food intake were found between the control and SPA0355 groups. The degree of inflammation was decreased in all three SPA0355 application groups. A decrease CEJ-ABC distance was observed in the 0.5% and 1% SPA0355 groups. These results indicate that SPA0355 inhibits the infiltration of inflammatory cells and alveolar bone resorption and suggests its potential as a therapeutic agent for periodontitis.

        The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation among bone mineral density(BMD), body composition and body circumference on 20's college women in Hwaseong. A total of 86 subjects were measured with BMD and body composition and body circumference. To evaluate the correlation between BMD and body composition, bone density and body weight, body mass index(BMI), lean body mass, muscle mass, fat mass and body fat mass were compared. The results of this study, weight was considered the strong correlation with BMD than the height and BMI seems to be greater significance rather than the lumbar spine and femur BMD. In addition, the relationship between body composition and BMD, lean body mass, muscle mass, body fat mass were the most relevant factors and BMD. The relationship between BMD and body circumference that have been difficult because of not enough previous studies but somewhat the study showed that association.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect and correlation of anthropometric data, eating behaviors, and nutrient intake on the bone mineral density(BMD) of female college students. 349 female college students were surveyed and their age, height, and weight were an average of 20.5 years, 163.2 ㎝ and 54.0 ㎏, respectively. Their average BMI was 20.2, with 66% falling in the normal range, 21.8% classified as underweight, 8.0% as overweight, and obese individuals comprised 3.4% of the sample by BMI classification. Calcaneal BMD was measured and the average T-score was 0.117. The results of BMD measurements were normal in 268 people(76.8%), osteopenia was found in 71 individuals(20.3%), and osteoporosis in 10(2.9%), respectively. There was a significant difference in bone mineral density according to height(p<0.05) and BMI (p<0.01). There were significant differences between BMD and eating behavior, regularity of eating behaviors(p<0.05), instant food intake(p<0.05), eating out(p<0.05) and nutritional supplement intake(p<0.05). In addition, normal the group with normal BMD had a more desirable eating behavior compared to the osteopenia and osteoporosis afflicted groups. BMD had a significant difference according to the nutrient intake of calcium(p<0.05), vitamin A(p<0.05), and vitamin C(p<0.05). In conclusion, BMD showed a good correlation with height(p<0.01), BMI(p<0.01), body composition including total body water(p<0.05), FFM(p<0.05), body protein(p<0.05) and intake of calcium(p<0.05), iron(p<0.05), vitamin A(p<0.05), and vitamin C(p<0.05). Therefore, an education plan and training on balanced diets proper body weight control, and desirable eating behaviors for female college students will be needed.

        Ti-Ni alloys are widely used in numerous biomedical applications (e.g., orthodontics, cardiovascular science, orthopaedics) due to their distinctive thermomechanical and mechanical properties, such as the shape memory effect, superelasticity and low elastic modulus. In order to increase the biocompatibility of Ti-Ni alloys, many surface modification techniques, such as the sol-gel technique, plasma immersion ion implantation (PIII), laser surface melting, plasma spraying, and chemical vapor deposition, have been employed. In this study, a Ti-49.5Ni (at%) alloy was electrochemically etched in 1M H2SO4+ X (1.5, 2.0, 2.5) wt% HF electrolytes to modify the surface morphology. The morphology, element distribution, crystal structure, roughness and energy of the surface were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive Xray spectrometry (EDS), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and contact angle analysis. Micro-sized pores were formed on the Ti-49.5Ni (at%) alloy surface by electrochemical etching with 1M H2SO4+ X (1.5, 2.0, 2.5) wt% HF. The volume fractions of the pores were increased by increasing the concentration of the HF electrolytes. Depending on the HF concentration, different pore sizes, heights, surface roughness levels, and surface energy levels were obtained. To investigate the osteoblast adhesion of the electrochemically etched Ti-49.5Ni (at%) alloy, a MTT test was performed. The degree of osteoblast adhesion was increased at a high concentration of HF-treated surface structures.

        The purpose of this study is to examine the changes in bone mineral density in long-stay patients of a geriatric hospital in relation to physical therapy, thereby providing basic data for preventing the onset or deterioration of osteoporosis in inpatients of geriatric hospitals or relevant facilities. The subjects of this study were 133 elderly patients who had been in H geriatric hospital in Yongin-si for more than four years. Their bone mineral density T-scores at admission and those after four years were measured to compare and analyze the changes in bone mineral density in relation to physical therapy. According to the results, the decrease in T-score for the group without physical therapy was greater by .40 than that for the group with physical therapy, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups(p<.01). Accordingly, physical therapy proved to be effective in preventing bone mineral density loss and maintaining the current density.

        Recently, mini-implant is popular in the orthodontic treatment due to its simplicity and convenient surgical procedure. The objective of this study is to provide the anatomical guideline for mini-implant placement by analysing the cortical bone thickness in Korean. Hemi-sections of sixteen maxillae and twenty-two mandibles with normal teeth were used. Interdental areas between the 1st premolar and the 2nd premolar (Group 1), the 2nd premolar and the 1st molar (Gruop 2), and the 1st molar and the 2nd molar (Group 3) were sectioned and then scanned. After setting the axis of teeth, the cortical bone thickness was measured at the distance of 2 mm, 4mm, 6 mm, and 8 mm from alveolar crest. The mean thickness of cortical bone in the maxilla according to distance from alveolar crest was 1.30 ± 0.63 mm (2 mm), 1.49 ± 0.62 mm (4mm), 1.72 ± 0.64 mm (6mm), and 1.90 ± 0.90 mm (8 mm) at the buccal side and 1.33 ± 0.47 mm, 1.31 ± 0.45 mm, 1.37 ± 0.55 mm, and 1.39 ± 0.58 mm at the palatal side. In the mandible, that was 3.14 ± 1.71 mm, 4.31 ± 2.22 mm, 4.23 ± 1.94 mm, and 4.30 ± 1.57 mm at the buccal side and 1.98 ± 0.88 mm, 2.79 ± 1.01 mm, 3.35 ± 1.27 mm, and 3.93 ± 1.38 mm at the lingual side. The buccal cortical bone thickness in the maxilla was decreased from Group 1 to Group 3, while the thickness of palatal side was no change. In the mandible, it did not show a tendency at the buccal side and it was decreased from Group 1 to Group 3 without significant difference at the lingual side. Therefore, the buccal side of the Group 1 and Group 2 in both the maxilla and mandible seems to be the most appropriate site for a mini-implant placement with taking the stability and retention.

        Two piglets and one juvenile pig were used to investigate closely what types of cells express green fluorescent protein (GFP) and if any, whether the GFP-tagged cells could be used for stem cell transplantation research as a middle-sized animal model in bone marrow cells of recloned GFP pigs. Bone marrow cells were recovered from the tibia, and further analyzed with various cell lineage markers to determine which cell lineage is concurrently expressing visible GFP in each individual animal. In the three animals, visible GFP were observed only in proportions of the plated cells immediately after collection, showing 41, 2 and 91% of bone marrow cells in clones #1, 2 and 3, respectively. The intensity of the visible GFP expression was variable even in an individual clone depending on cell sizes and types. The overall intensities of GFP expression were also different among the individual clones from very weak, weak to strong. Upon culture for 14 days in vitro (14DIV), some cell types showed intensive GFP expression throughout the cells; in particular, in cytoskeletons and the nucleus, on the other hand. Others are shown to be diffused GFP expression patterns only in the cytoplasm. Finally, characterization of stem cell lineage markers was carried out only in the clone #3 who showed intensive GFP expression. SSEA-1, SSEA-3, CD34, nestin and GFAP were expressed in proportions of the GFP expressing cells, but not all of them, suggesting that GFP expression occur in various cell lineages. These results indicate that targeted insertion of GFP gene should be pursued as in mouse approach to be useful for stem cell research. Furthermore, cell- or tissue-specific promoter should also be used if GFP pig is going to be meaningful for a model for stem cell transplantation.

Thermo dynamic therapy is one of the method to accelerlate the speed of bone remodelling and osseointegration. Thus it raise stability of implants. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of diode laser irradiation for ossoeintegration in implant interface and between the implants threads. 24 New Zealand white rabbits which were about 3kg weight, used for experiment. 2 implant's were implanted every rabbit's tibia. 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks after implantation, tissue sample were removed from sacrificed rabbit's tibia. 8 rabbit's were sacrificed every 2, 4, 8 weeks and undecalcified sample were made from tissue sample. We have investigated the undecalcified samples by back scattered electron microscope. We have analysied the length rate and area rate in implant interface and inside the threads. The results were as follows. 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks experimental groups which were irradiated low level laser therapy showed rapid bone remodelling than control groups. It was suggested that Initial bone remodelling may be effected by LLLT because of implant bone contact ratio between 4th weeks and 8th weeks had no siginifant difference. Initial bone remodelling may be more influenced than later bone remodelling by LLLT because of new bone formation area ratio between implant threads had no significant differences during 4th to 8th weeks. According to above results, low level laser irradiation accerlate the new bone formation in implant interface and inside the implants threads at initial stage. there were many factors which are increasing the bone remodelling, because there were many differences between experimental and control groups. Low level laser irradiation were helpful for increasing the initial stage of bone remodelling because of above results.

        Currently, Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is widely used in medicine and dentistry. It has been suggested that LLLT may be beneficial in management of many different medical conditions, including pain, wound healing and nerve injury. Stimulation with LLLT can enhance bone repair as reported in experimental studies on bone defects and fracture healing also. As far as hard tissue is concerned, the biostimulating effect of laser has been demonstrated more rapid healing of tibial bone fracture in mice. This study was performed to compare new bone formation between with LLLT and without LLLT. Two cylinder implants(5mm diameter, 5mm length) were implanted on rabbit's tibia. LLLT was done to one implant with 632mm diode laser. And than Rabbit's were sacrificed after 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th weeks after implantation. Bone with implant were removed and fixed with 10% formaline. Undecalfied sample were prepared after spurr low resin embedding. Sample were grind and polished to 100㎛. The results were as follows. The amount of trabeclue of experimental group were superior to that of control group from 2 weeks to 8 weeks. There were no difference in arrangement of trabecule between two groups. Bone implant contact were significantly increased at 4th weeks in experimental group. The number of ostecytes in trabecule were different at 4th weeks experimental group. Osteone were appeared dominantly at 6th weeks experimental group, while at 8th weeks experimental group were superior than control group. LLLT group showed increased amount of trabecule, bone implant contact, number of osteocytes & osteone. It suggested that LLLT might be increase the bone formation rate and accelerate the bone formation time.

        Recently, robot-assisted joint replacement surgeries are on the rise. Robot-assisted surgery can make more accurate outcome, and thus it will be more popular. For the accurate result, secure fixation of bone is necessary, but there are numerous difficulties for the secure fixation. Detecting bone motion is necessary to prevent some errors. Currently, optical sensor and location sensor are in use; however, these sensors can cause interventional problem for the friction between mechanical devices. This study shows how to compose the bone motion detecting device using electromagnetic sensor, how to commercialize the bone motion detecting device.

        The purpose of present study was to analyze mineral contents in various tissues and investigate theirs relation with bone mineral density (BMD) in rats. Fifteen Sprague-Dawley rats were fed standard diet for 4 weeks. Body weight gain, feed intake, and feed efficiency ratio were 41.00 g/week, 171.15 g/week, and 0.24 respectively. Among 12 minerals in serum, Ca is the highest with 6.86 mg/dl. Serum Mg, Se, and Cu were 2.52 mg/dl, 0.23 mg/dl and 0.22 mg/dl respectively. Mg contents in liver, spleen, and kidney were 246.36 μg/g, 105.01 μg/g, and 273.38 μg/g respectively. Tibia contents of Ca, Mg, Zn, Fe and V were 194.91 mg/g, 23.10 mg/g, 0.60 mg/g, 0.35 mg/g and 0.14 mg/g respectively. BMDs of right tibia and spine were 122.04 mg/cm2 and 153.61 mg/cm2. There were significantly positive correlations between tibia BMD and Se (p<0.05), tibia BMD and V (p<0.01), spinal BMD and V(p<0.05), respectively. It's expected that these results are used as a reference data in following study to elucidate physiological function of minerals.

        The purpose of this study was to evaluate the biological characteristic of deproteinized freeze dried bovine bone(DFDBB) through grafting to maxillary sinus as following time lapsed. Nine patients who were needed of sinus elevation procedure because of severe resorption of maxillary edentulous alveolar bone were selected. patients were divided into three group. Firstly sinus lifting procedure was performed and then the implantation procedure was performed after 6 months in first group, 12 months in second group and 18 months in third group and simutaneously tissues of sinus were obtained by trephine. 18 sections are made from every obtained tissue. 9 sections were stained by Masson's trichrome method and were taken a photo at 100 times of magnification. Relative area of newly formed bone were obtained by IPTK(image processing tool kit) version 5.0 program and mean values and standard deviations were produced from obtained data by using SPSS version 17 program and significance tests were conducted by ANOVA method. This study revealed that DFDBB stimulated new bone formation in maxillary sinus and did not have osteoinductive capacity but osteoconductive capacity, and DFDBB was exceedingly slowly resorbed.
