본 연구는 한국에서 예체능 계열 박사 과정에 재학 중인 중국인 유학생들의 교육 현황을 조사하고 분석하여, 한국 대학의 외국인 유학생 모집부터 교육에 이르기까지 합리적인 개선과 유용한 유학 정보를 제공하고자 한다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 다음과 같은 연구 절차를 거쳤다. 먼저, 한국 대학의 예체능 계열 박사 과정에 재학 중인 중국인 유학생들이 선호하는 사립 대학 상위 3곳을 선정하여 이들 대학의 학과, 전공 구분, 입학 요건, 지원 절차, 장학금 혜택 등의 내용을 분석하였다. 다음으로 인터뷰와 설문을 통해 예체능 계열 박사 과정 중국인 유학생들의 대학 선택 요인, 일상 및 학교생활 현황, 학습 상태, 학습 만족도, 한국어 능력 수준, 논문 진행 등의 교육 현황을 파악하였다. 이에 도출된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학교 지원 절차, 중국인 유학생 수, 어학 성적 여부 그리고 지인과 유학 중개소의 추천을 대학 선택의 선결 조건으로 생각하기 때문에 대학교에서 유학생 모집 홍보, 한국과 중국 학교의 교류 프로그램 및 연합 과정 개설 등을 적극적으로 고려해야 한다. 둘째, 한국어 능력이 부족하여 일상, 학교생활에 불편한 데가 많다는 조사 결과에 따라 학교 측은 유학생들의 원활한 언어 소통에 관한 적극적인 지원과 도움이 필요하다고 판단된다. 셋째, 모든 교과목의 타당성과 전문성은 높은 반면, 실용성은 상대적으로 낮은 편이기 때문에 예체능 계열의 특수성을 고려한 맞춤형 한국어 연계 교과목의 개설이 매우 필요하다. 넷째, 논문의 진행에 있어 어느 정도의 한국어 실력을 갖추어야 하는 상황이므로 해당 학과에 속하거나 전문 용어를 통역할 수 있는 실력을 갖춘 통역자가 논문 통역을 담당해야 한다. 다섯째, 논문 작성 프로그램이나 사이버 시스템의 사용법을 가르치는 수업이 매우 필요하다. 이뿐만 아니라 유학생들이 희망하는 한·중 교류프로그램 등을 만들어 일상과 학교생활을 풍부하게 하고 불안감을 약화시킬 수 있다고 생각된다. 저자는 현재 한국 대학 외국인 박사 과정 모집에 있어, 언어 능력이 떨어지는 학생들을 선발하는 것이 본질적인 문제라고 생각한다. 그러나 각 대학의 운영 및 모집에 있어 실제적인 해결이 어렵다고 본다. 이를 본 연구의 한계점으로 보고, 가장 현실적인 상황을 고려하여 예체능 계열 중국인 유학생들의 교육 환경, 수업 설계, 학생 지원, 혜택 및 학습 방향과 관련된 근본적이고 구체적인 방안을 제공하였다. 본 연구가 한국의 고등 교육 기관의 외국인 유학생 모집 시스템 구축, 입시 그리고 유학생 교육, 지원 등 상황에 따른 교육 개선과 발전에 보다 유용한 자료로 활용되기를 바란다.

The 17th APEC Future Education Forum (AFEF) and the 19th International ALCoB Conference were held from 28 September (Tuesday) to 1 October (Friday) in a virtual manner. The annual forum and conference serve as an invaluable opportunity to discuss future directions of education and human resources development in the Asia-Pacific region. Since 2005, the forum and conference have served their role as the largest and longest thematic meeting in the APEC Human Resources Development Working Group (HRDWG). The 2021 forum and conference have gathered 780 participants from 20 APEC member economies, guest economies and international institutions. Under the theme “Strengthening lifelong competencies and skills development for individuals’ career, education, training, and life cycles”, the forum and conference reflected the current educational agenda from 21 APEC member economies and other international organizations such as G20, UNESCO. As a way forward, the forum and conference speakers recommend APEC to 1) consider individual and industrial needs for curriculum development, 2) expand lifelong learning policies and practices at both domestic and international level and 3) develop a public-private partnership to prepare its future talents with adequate competencies. This review explains the 17th AFEF and the 19th International ALCoB Conference background, summary and outcomes. The review also briefs on collective actions member economies can take as future steps to continue the forum and conference discussions.

Astronomy is one of the recurrent comtemporary issues in the mass media where news related to comets, new exoplanets, satellites, space tests, etc., frequently appear. From this perspective, students at all levels are especially motivated to learn astronomy. Nevertheless, students’ interest does not improve their astronomical knowledge, which leads students’ difficulty in understanding astronomy in school science. In this context, we felt the need to review astronomy education research trends in domestic and other countries, especially focused on the education programs. The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare the program characteristics during last three decades. The total number of analyzed cases is 88(89 for double counting). As a result, we found different characteristics of program types and learning methods between Korea and other countries. Based on the results of this study, we suggested the direction to improve the astronomy education in Korea.

본 논문은 학부 외국인 유학생을 위한 한국 한자어 교육 방안을 원격 수업 설계 및 운영 사례를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 대학에서 원격 수업의 중요성과 비중이 갑작스레 커진 상황에서, 대면 수업에 준하는 수업 효율을 유지할 수 있는 방안을 찾는 일은 중요한 과제 가운데 하나라고 할 수 있다. 이 과정에서 ‘외국인 유학생 대상 한자(漢字) 수업’이라는 변수를 고려하여 실제 대학 강의 현장에서 수업 설계와 운영에 반영하고자 하였다. 원격 수업은 그 특성상 대면 수업이 가지는 현장성·동시성·양방향성·상호교감성을 완벽하게 재현해내기는 어렵다. 하지만 주어진 환경 속에서 대면 수업의 효율을 유지하고 원격 수업의 장점을 극대화하기 위한 노력이 필요하다는 점을 언급하였다. 코로나 19 이후 빠르게 변화하고 있는 강의 환경을 고려할 때, 본 연구를 하나의 사례로 삼아 후속 논의가 지속되기를 기대한다.

This study was conducted for the purpose of discovering deficiencies within education- related assistance projects of private organizations that provide educational programs for developing countries. Based on the dynamic graph and educational performance of the educational ODA of 11 private institution, the adequacy of the educational projects was analyzed in terms of the following four factors: ‘Improvement of educational environment and expansion of educational opportunities’, ‘Educational system competency’, ‘Competency of education recipients’ and ‘Community formation and social reform’. The analysis found that two institutions were conducting programs corresponding to 3 out of the 4 factors while the remaining nine were conducting programs to achieve two factors. That is, the 11 institutions were appropriately carrying out educational ODA projects. To further invigorate ODA, however, it was found that it will be necessary to reinforce ‘social reform’ through ‘educational system competency’ or ‘community formation.’ This study is meaningful in that as it used a methodology that had never been used before, and analyzed the educational ODA of private institutions.

“일대일로” 이니셔티브가 지속적으로 발전하고 있으며 이로 인해 많은 외국인들 이 중국어와 중국문화 대한 큰 관심을 가지고 있다. “일대일로” 배경하에 외국인을 대상으로 한 중국어교육(즉 대외중국어교육)이 활성화 되는 반면, 대외중국어 교육 수준 재고를 위한 많은 연구가 필요하다. 특히 사자성어는 중국어 실력을 판단하는 하나의 중요한 측정도구이고 사자성어의 난이도를 측정할 수 있으면 중국어능력 평가시 많은 도움을 줄 수 있다. 하지만 기존 연구는 대외중국어교육 중 사자성어의 난이도 측정에 대한 언급조차 없었다. 본 논문은 대외중국어교육시 가장 많이 쓰이는 대강(权威大纲) 5세트, 고급단계 종합교재(高级阶段综合教材) 4세트, 그리고 “국내외 대외중국어교재 데이터베이스(国内对外汉语教材语料库)”에서 나타난 사자 성어를 CLL데이터베이스의 사자성어과 사용빈도(使用频次) 및 피복률(覆盖率)등 치수로 비교하였다. 그리고 HSK 동태작문데이터베이스 (动态作文语料库)의 편차률 과 비교한 결과로 900개의 사자성어를 지정하였다. 이어서 이 900개 사자성어로 질과 양적인 연구를 통해 3가지 난이도로 구분하였다. 또한 이를 외국인 학생 대상으로 층별교습법(分层教学法, hierarchical teaching)을 통해 교습하여 실증연구하 였다. 연구결과로 사자성어 난이도를 측정하여 층별 교습 시 효과가 더욱 좋다고 나타났고, 학생도 빠르게 사자성어를 습득할 수 있다는 결론도 도출하였다.

This article introduces Russia's international development assistance to global education, specifically the Russia Education Aid for Development (READ) programme. This study utilises analysis of literature and reports based on the READ programme’s background, structure, stakeholders and procedure. The objective of this research is to illustrate READ's key characteristics that helped it to succeed and lessons they have learned. Results show that READ is a well-planned, triangular cooperation programme requiring further study due to its applicability to other emerging donors. Moreover, this study sees a need for more research in education development assistance of not only Russia, but also other emerging donors.

The debate and struggle on traditional and simplified Chinese characters cannot be ignored in the context of Chinese international education. Standing on which Chinese Character teaching position should be considered on the features of this two characters systems and learner’s personal experience. Different positions will have different effects on Chinese teaching difficulties, the difficulty of Chinese teaching is the Chinese character, on this premise, the effects of traditional and simplified Chinese character to Chinese learning cannot be ignored especially. Based on the analysis of 3000 traditional and simplified Chinese characters, we draw the conclusion that the significantly decrease of simplified characters’ strokes is far priors the negative effects on characters’ motivation. Furthermore, we suggest that simplified Chinese characters should be chosen at the primary stage of TCSL globally.

Articles in one domestic journal, English Teaching (ET), and one international journal, TESOL Quarterly (TQ) from 2011 to 2013 were surveyed in order to analyze current research trends and to suggest better orientation toward future research focusing on participants, research methods, target language skills, and research topics. The results show that university students have participated most in both of the journal articles, indicating that they are practically available to the researchers in higher educational settings. The proportion of quantitative and qualitative research methods was well balanced in TQ, while, in ET, more than 50 percent of the articles relied on quantitative research methodology along with a relatively larger proportion of mixed method research in ET. In terms of target language skills, writing has been studied most in ET and speaking in TQ, showing growing interest in productive language skills nowadays. As for research topics, articles based on socio-cultural factors have been published most in TQ and articles based on classrooms pedagogy in ET, which reflects that English learning is performed mostly in classroom settings in Korea. Pedagogical implications and suggestions are made based on the findings

The Asia-Pacific region is an engine of global growth in political, economic, social and cultural aspects but tangible and intangible conflicts also remain in the region due to different backgrounds and experiences in history, culture, and so forth. In this respect, APEC has played its role to narrow divides and facilitate cooperative activities among 21 member economies since 1989. However, it is required to point out how these member economies can initiate and manage cooperative activities efficiently under challenging situations like recent economic crisis and remaining conflicts. This paper presents the role of education to enable member economies to understand each other and find a way to work together, and reviews one representative international educational APEC project: APEC Future Education Forum.

본 연구는 수준 높은 발레교육을 펼치기 위해 발레교육자는 어떠한 능력을 갖추어야 하는지 살펴보기 위한 기초 단계로 기존 발레교육자 양성과정에 나타난 전문성 개념을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 그동안 발레교육자의 전문성은 구체적이고 체계적인 형태로 정립되지는 않았 다. 이 때문에 오랜 시간 발레를 전공하고 무용수로 활동하거나 대학 및 대학원에서 수학한 전 문 발레인들이 교육자로서 필요한 교육을 제공받지 못했으며, 협회 및 주요 교육기관에서의 발 레교수법, 자격과정 이수를 통해 경력을 쌓아갔다. 본 연구에서는 현실적으로 발레를 전공한 학 생들이 발레무용수로 기량을 갖추는 과정 역시 발레교육자로서 성장하는 과정의 일부로 간주하 고 국내외 발레교육자 양성과정을 조사하였다. 구체적으로 이상적 사례선택의 방법으로 선정된 국내외 발레교육자 양성과정은 국외 발레학교 교육과정, 발레교수법, 자격과정, 국내 예술중·고 등학교, 대학교 교육과정, 자격과정의 내용분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 발레교육자만을 위한 특 화된 교육은 매우 부족했으며, 발레교육자의 전문성 개념이나 요소들을 중심으로 교육하고 자격 을 수여하는 사례 또한 드물다는 점을 파악하였다. 국내외 양성과정 분석을 통해 나타난 전문성 요소는 발레지식, 발레교수지식, 발레소양이었으며, 이를 바탕으로 발레교육자의 전문성은 발레 를 기능적, 예술적으로 이해하고 가르치기 위해 발레교육자가 갖추어야 할 지식, 기능, 태도적 측면의 능력으로 개념화할 수 있었다. 이상의 연구결과를 바탕으로 향후 발레교육 및 발레교육 자와 관련한 후속연구를 제시하였다.

There is an increasing amount of discussion toward ODA as national status of Korea has greatly been increasing. Developing countries, especially, are highly appraising Korean case studies where education plays significant role as fundamental basis of economic development which, in turn, increases the scale and demand of cooperation with Korea. Despite growing international interest and scale of education ODA, there is not only limitation in domestic professional manpower engaged in development but also lack of plans to nurture experts and to proliferate participation of aid in education field . Thus, based on‘Competency’that has high feasibility, this study aims to theoretically examine overall capacity, talents, skills, and values etc, that are required for education development cooperation experts. Approaching ways deduced from the following study would be of support to establish‘Competency’based nurturing system for the government, universities that are already practicing for promotion of the experts in international education development cooperation, nationally and internationally.

어떻게 하면 중국어 국제 교육 중 한자 교육의 장애를 돌파할 수 있을까, 이는 많은 지혜를 필요로 하는 문제이다. 우리들은 한자교육과 한자교학 등의 용어가 가지고 있는 함의와 그 상관관계에 대해 분명히 해 둘 필요가 있다. 한자교육은 한자교학을 포괄하며, 한자교학은 한자교육의 핵심 내용이지만 그 전부는 아니면 서 또한 한자교육은 주로 한자교학을 통해 실현되어진다. 현재 발전되고 있는 중 국어 국제교육의 여러 과목 중 하나로서 볼 때 한자교육이라는 명칭이 더욱 타당 하다. 교사가 중국어 국제 교육에 임할 때 우선 한자교육의 이념을 갖추고 교내외, 교실 안과 밖의 한자 교육의 자원을 충분히 이용하여 한자교육을 진행함과 동시 에 한자의 기본 지식을 습득하고, 항상 학습하며, 한자학 연구의 신성과를 파악해 야 한다. 이렇게 할 때에만 더욱 효과적인 한자교육을 진행할 수 있기 때문이다.

지식기반의 사회에서 ICT를 활용한 교육 체제의 변화에 대한 개발도상국의 요청이 늘어남에 따라 Holistic Educational Systemic Change Model의 필요성이 날로 대두되고있다.따라서 본 연구의 목적은 기초연구로써 개발도상국의 교육정보화를 통한 교육체제의 변화에 대한 효과적이고 효율적인 정착과 확산을 위한 Holistic Educational Systemic ChangeModel의 개념화를 위한 방향이 무엇인가를 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 교육 분야에서 대표적으로 다루어지고 있는 체제적 변화에 대한 논의를 통해 교육정보화를 통한 개발도상국의교육 체제의 변화를 위한 시사점을 도출하였다. 또한 이를 토대로 국제교육협력에서의 개발도상국의 교육정보화를 위해 고려되어야 할 요소와의 관련성을 분석하여 Holistic EducationalSystemic Change Model의 개념화를 위한 방향을 제시하고자 하였다.분석 결과 관련 연구물들에서 나타나고 있는 교육체제의 변화는 사회 패러다임의 전환에 기인하며, 이를 위해서는 체제적 접근을 통한 교육 체제의 설계가 필요하다. 또한국제교육협력에서의 교육정보화에 관한 사업을 위해서는 교육정보화 관련 정책과 리더십, 그리고 전략뿐만 아니라 교육정보화를 위한 인프라 구축, 인적자원의 개발 및 훈련등을 거시적인 관점에서 고려해야만 한다.이를 토대로 Holistic Educational Systemic Change Model의 개념화를 위해 필요한방향과 원리가 도출되었다.

Clegg (2009: 46) issued that there has been a tendency that government in different parts of the world nowadays are interested in introducing English-medium teaching (bilingual education) into the school system. In Indonesian context, the attempts to teaching other subjects through English (TOSTE) or the use of English as the medium of instruction (MoI) have been widely tried to be implemented in the schools around the country, especially at International Standard School (ISS). The English mastery of other subjects’ teachers (OST) becomes one of the key factors on the success or failure on the development of the bilingual learners (BL) on the mastery of the subject matters learned at ISS. This article is aimed at giving a brief overview on the implementation of bilingual education (BE) at the ISS. This article finds that the implementation of TOSTE or the use of English as MoI at ISS has raised many problems due to the lack understanding of the society on ISS and the lack competency of English mastery of the OST itself.

국제이해교육은 직접적인 체험과 사람과의 교류를 통해 공감하는 마음을 갖는 지구촌 가족, 나와 세계인이 연결되어 있음을 인식하고 공동의 과제를 함께 해결하면서 더불어살아가고자 노력하는 국제인을 지향하는 교육이다. 최근 세계화와 함께 지구촌의 심리적거리는 매우 좁아지고 있으며 이처럼 변화하는 현실적 요구에 맞추어 초등학교 시기부터국제이해교육의 필요성이 부각되고 있다.본 연구는 서울, 부산, 광주의 초등학생과 교사를 대상으로 한 설문지를 통해 국제이해교육의 실태와 요구를 조사하고 분석하였다. 설문지를 분석한 결과 국제이해교육의 본질에대한 인식보다는 교과교육과정의 내용을 답습하는 형태의 수업이 이루어지고 있었다. 대도시를 중심으로 교사와 학생의 해외 체험의 횟수가 증가하고 있으나 국제이해교육의 태도에대한 측면은 지역별, 교사의 교직경력별, 교사의 해외경험에 따라 큰 차이를 보인다.

This paper presents a case of the implementation of international distance courses between two universities of Taiwan and Japan in Asia-Pacific area. It reports the design of activities engaged in learning with supports of various communication tools. It also examines the students’ interaction and context of learning in distance education. The paper begins by briefly introducing the initiatives, the curriculum and the instructional design on implementation of the case. It then presents results of the study with discussion, along with assessment data available on its success. Meanwhile, it also explores cultural interaction among students and class dynamics observed throughout this study. Finally, this paper closes by making recommendations for further research possibilities and practical applications aiming at enhancing international distance education.
