'Hanabell' is a new ornamental crabapple cultivar bred in 2020 at the Apple Research Institute, National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science, Rural Development Administration. It was selected from seedlings obtained through the open-pollination of Malus baccata collected from Mt. Palgong, Gunwi-gun, and Gyeongsangbuk-do. Line selections were conducted from 2009 to 2016, and characteristic tests were evaluated from 2017 to 2019. The tree vigor and form of 'Hanabell' were determined to be medium and spreading, respectively. The flowering season of 'Hanabell' starts on April 17th and ends on May 2nd, lasting approximately 15 days. The size of 'Hanabell' flowers is approximately 48 mm, larger than that of general apple flowers, and they have a high ornamental value due to the abundance of blooms each year. Furthermore, 'Hanabell' possesses a distinct floral scent that releases a significant amount of benzyl acetate (C9H10O2) into the air during flowering, attracting bees. Subsequently, 'Hanabell' was officially submitted for variety protection to the KoreaSeed & Variety Service in 2021(Applicationno.2021-144).

본 연구는 정원 장미에서 화색과 향기의 상관관계를 분석하기 위해 개화단계 동안 화색소와 향기물질 구성의 변화를 조사하였 다. 화색과 향기 특성이 다른 세 품종의 정원 장미를 식물재료로 이용하였다. ‘Faustinia’는 황색 꽃잎과 tea-type향을 가지며, ‘Liparfum’은 적색 꽃과 sweet-type향을, ‘Tchaikovsky Meichibon’ 은 약한 향의 백색 꽃을 피운다. 개화과정을 S1에서 S5까지 5단 계로 나뉘어 설정하였다. 세 품종에서 꽃과 꽃잎의 크기, 꽃잎의 생체중과 같은 형태적 특성은 S1에서 S4로 개화가 진행됨에 따 라 증가했다. ‘Faustinia’와 ‘Liparfum’은 S3까지 화색이 선명하고 밝아지고 이후 퇴색되어 a*와 b*값이 감소하였다. 세 품종 모두 향기는 S3~S4에서 가장 강했다가 S5에서 감소하였다. ‘Faustinia’ 의 총 카로티노이드와 ‘Liparfum’의 총 안토시아닌 함량은 S1대 비 S3에서 약 7.2~40.5배 증가하였고 S5에서 약 30.6%까지 현저 하게 감소하였다. 백색 계열 ‘Tchaikovsky Meichibon’의 화색소 함량은 개화 과정 중 큰 변화를 보이지 않았으나 S5에서 2.3배 감소하였다. 향기물질은 화색소 변화와 유사한 패턴을 보였다. 2-phenylethanol과 3,5-dimethoxytholuene은 모든 품종 ‘Faustinia’ (84.2%), ‘Liparfum’(89.6%), ‘Tchaikovsky Meichibon’(94.8%) 에서 높은 함량비율을 보였고, 테르펜 향기물질 구성비율은 역순 으로 높았다. ‘Liparfum’의 안토시아닌은 향기물질 2-phenylethanol (r=-0.51), 3,5-dimethoxytoluene(r=-0.72**), eugenol(r=-0.58*),neral(r=-0.48), geranial(r=-0.42)과 음의 상관관계를 보였으나, 카로티노이드는 명확한 상관성을 갖지 않았다

프리지아 ‘Sunny Gold’는 농촌진흥청 국립원예특작과학원 에서 2010년 노랑색 반겹꽃 프리지아 육성계통 ‘036010’을 모본으로 진노란색 홑꽃 ‘Golden Flame’을 부본으로 교배하여 획득한 종자로부터 2011년 진노란색 겹꽃의 향기가 강한 프리지아 계통을 선발하여 품종화 하였다. 2011년부터 2016년까지 개화 생육특성검을 수행하였으며 핵심수요자의 기호도 평가를 통해 선발되어 2017년 ‘Sunny Gold’ 로 명명되었다. ‘Sunny Gold’는 RHS color chart YO17B의 노란색 겹꽃 프리지아 품종으로 화폭은 6.7cm로 대조품종 ‘Golden Flame’ 6.1cm에 비해 크고, 분지수는 6.5로 다수확성 품종이다. 초장이 101.9cm로 초세가 강하다. ‘Sunny Gold’의 소화수 및 소화장은 각각 13.0개, 9.3cm이며 개화소요일수는 137.7일이다. 이 품종의 절화수명은 약 9일이며 자구번식력은 5.3배로 대조 품종 ‘Golden Flame’ 4.3배에 비해 우수하다. 전자코를 이용한 PCA분석결과 PC1과 PC2는 각각 99.3%와 0.6%로 전체 변이량의 99.9%를 반영하고 있다. Rader plot 분석결과 총 6개 센서에서 모두 ‘Sunny Gold’의 센서값이 향기가 강한 상용품종 ‘Yvonne’의 값에 비해 높게 나타나 ‘Sunny Gold’의 향기가 더 강한 것으로 나타났다.

본 고는 한중일 고전문학 속 여성의 향기의 이미지를 분석해 보고, 그 속에 반영 된 당시의 여성관을 살펴보고자 한다. 한중일 삼국 모두 초기의 종교적 제례의식에 서 출발한 향기의 문화는 고전문학 속에서는 다양한 이미지를 지니며 여성만의 향기 로 발전시켜 나갔다. 먼저 여성에게 요구되었던 미모(美貌)와 성애(性愛)의 향기로 그려낸 ‘표면적 이미지’, 남성 중심 가부장 사회의 기준으로 재단(裁斷)된 효·열의 가 치를 추구하는 도덕적 향기로서의 ‘내면적 이미지’, 마지막으로 여성의 분신, 영혼의 일부로 자신의 정체성을 표현하거나 초기의 종교적 전통을 계승하여 신과 소통하는 신성성을 지닌 향기로서의 ‘초월적 이미지’가 있었다. 한중일 고전문학 속 여성들의 향기가 가부장 사회의 기준으로 정의되고 강요되는 수동적인 면도 있었지만, 여성들 은 자신들만의 방식으로 미적(美的), 윤리적 그리고 종교적 단계로까지 승화시키며 발전시켜 나갔다.

화훼류 중 절화류의 화색과 향기 특성을 조절하는 것은 주 요한 육종 목표로써 인지되어 왔다. 최근 다양한 소비자 계층이 증가하면서 파란색 장미, 카네이션 등과 같은 특이화색이 라든지, 독특한 향기를 갖고 있거나 그 강도를 조절하고자 하 는 연구방향 또한 다양해졌다. 그러나 이것은 일반적으로 수 행하고 있는 교배방식으로는 특정 목표형질을 가진 품종을 개 발하기란 쉽지가 않다. 그래서 화색과 향기와 관련한 형질을 조절할 수 있는 유전공학적인 방법뿐만 아니라 다방면의 연구 가 진행되어 왔다. 이는 화색과 향기의 관련 식물 대사산물을 생산 하는 것을 비롯하여 유전공학적인 방법으로 조절하는 방 식 등 여러 가지 방법이 있다. 많은 예 중에 화훼작물의 화색 과 향기를 조절한 성공한 사례를 바탕으로 어떻게 하면 우리 가 원하는 방향에 가까운 화색과 향기의 특정 형질을 만들어 낼 수 있을지에 대해 정리해보고자 하였고, 이러한 것들은 잘 응용하여 추후 좀 더 많은 화색과 향기를 만들어낼 수 있는 전략을 수립하는 데 도움이 되고자 한다.

본 논문은 시각장애인의 문화향유권 확대를 위하여 현재 비중 있게 다루어지지 않고 있는 감각인 후각을 사용한 새로운 미술작품 감상법 개발의 가능성에 대하여 다루고 있다. 인간의 후각은 현대사회에서는 크게 중요시되지 않는 감각이지만 이는 문화적인 요인에 의한 것이며, 생물학적인 관점에서 후각은 실용적 활용 가능성을 충분히 지닌 감각이 다. 본 연구에서는 여러 종류의 향이 후각을 통하여 인지될 때 각각 고유의 색상 및 개념과 무의식적인 연관 관계를 지니고 있음을 가정하였고, 이를 향의 색 지향성과 개념 지향성이라는 용어로 나타내었다. 연구자들은 실험을 통하여 특정한 일부 향에 색 지향성과 개념 지향성이 존재함을 확인하였고 이러한 향을 활용하여 시각장애인들에게 미술작품 에 사용된 색상에 대한 정보를 전달하는데 성공하였다. 본 연구를 기반으로 색채가 지닌 명도와 채도 및 더 다양한 색상을 전달할 수 있는 색-개념 지향성 향의 활용에 관한 연구를 지속할 수 있기를 희망한다.

The study compares the effect of chosen aroma compounds for restaurants on the emotional feedback of millennials, and also the explicit evaluation of this effect on food choices. The explicit and implicit effect of scents on perception is examined and innovative approaches of scent evaluation and their implementation shown.

In this study, we evaluated the scent intensity, emotional response, and EEG response according to the concentration of bergamot scent inhaled by young women whose average age was 18, and analyzed the correlation between these factors. The correlation between bergamot concentration (P, vol %) and odor intensity (I) was [I] = 1.22 + 0.86P (r2 = 0.99). The scent intensity of bergamot was about 3.8. The emotional response to the scent of bergamot was rated as pleasant, fresh, refreshing and feminine. Inhaling bergamot decreased the α waves in the brain and increased the θ, β, and γ waves. Additionally, the edge frequencies of the SEF50 and SEF90 were increased by 0.14 Hz to 0.59 Hz and 0.75Hz to 1.26 Hz respectively by bergamot. The odor intensity (concentration) and emotional response regarding bergamot showed a weak correlation with the amount of change in the edge frequency (ΔSEF50 and ΔSEF90). These results suggest that bergamot is a refreshing, feminine fragrance with an arousing effect that activates the brain.

Although people generally do not pay much attention to scent, background music (BGM), color, etc. in retail or service environments, these in-store factors could potentially have a subtle yet powerful influence on customers. Through two experiments, this research examined whether the scent and music made people feel physically warm or cool, and their effect on the participants’ perception of space and social density. Regarding to participants’ subjective perception of temperature, between the warm scent (vanilla) and the cool scent (peppermint), and between the warm music (Träumerei by Schumann) and the cool music (Vocalise by Rachmaninov) are not significantly different. But I could observe that people in warm conditions felt physically warm compare to cool conditions. And there was a significant difference on participants’ perception of space and density. People in the vanilla-scented environment felt that the capacity of the room was smaller, the space was tighter, and the social density was higher. In the case of the music, the results were the same. People in the room with Träumerei as a BCM felt that the room was smaller, the space was tighter, and the social density was higher. Moreover, people in warm conditions chose a cold or room temperature drink when I offered three drink options (cold, warm, room temperature) as a token of my gratitude. In addition to the effect to perception, I found that people in warm conditions (both scent and music) were more persuaded by commercial message than in cool conditions. These results would contribute to expand our knowledge of store atmospherics and customer experience through ambient scent and BGM.

The present study investigated the floral scent pattern and intensity of the floral organs in various species and cultivars of Maxillaria at different flowering stages using an electronic nose with 6 metal oxide sensors. The scents of species and cultivars showed various patterns overall, especially that of M. tenuifolia. The scent patterns of cultivars derived from M. variabillis formed a clustere that differed greatly from the origin M. variabillis. In M. tenuifolia, the scent pattern differed by stage, and was strongest at the initial flowering stage. Each floral organ showed different scent patterns; the sepal emitted the strong scent of all floral organs. This study establishes baseline data for the analysis scent of Maxillaria scents and for breeding aromatic orchids.

국내에서 유통되고 있는 절화장미 품종의 향기를 분석하고 분류하여 방향성 장미 육종을 위한 유전자원의 정보로 활용하고 향기 나는 장미 꽃의 이용도를 높이고자 수행하였다. 총 78품종을 주요 향기 성분에 따라 4개 그룹(aromatic compound, fatty acid derivative, terpene 및complex fragrance)으로 분류하였다. 각각의 그룹은 100개 이상의 향기성분의 조성과 함량이 다르게 나타났다. Aromaticcompound계 그룹의 주요향기 성분은 dimethoxytoluene,phenylethyl alcohol, trimethoxybenzene, ρ-anisaldehyde 등이며 ‘For You’, ‘Vital’, ‘Cool Water’, ‘Golden Gate’ 및‘Orange Flash’ 등 44품종이 이에 속하였다. Fatty acidderivative계 그룹의 주요 향기 성분은 hexanol, hexenal,heneicosane, docosane, nonadecane 및 nonadecene이며‘Green Beauty’, ‘Amor’, ‘Aqua’ 및 ‘Dreaming’ 등 13품종이 이에 속하였다. Terpene계 그룹의 주요 향기성분은 germacrene-D, geraniol 및 nerol이며 ‘Blue Moon’,‘Charming Easies’, ‘Extasy’ 및 ‘Lovely Blue’ 등 12품종이 이에 속하였다. Complex fragrance계 그룹은 위의3가지 그룹의 성분이 혼재되어 있었으며 ‘Boy Friend’,‘Pacific Blue’ 및 ‘Red Calypso’ 등 12품종이 이에 속하였다. 국내에 유통되고 있는 대부분의 절화장미 품종은 주로 aromatic compound계 그룹에 속하고 있었다.

본 연구에서는 전자코를 이용하여 나리 계통간의 꽃 의 향기 조성을 비교하고 향기가 가장 많이 발생하는 개화 단계를 파악하고 부위를 확인함으로써 향기성분 의 이용성을 높이고자 하였다. 아시아틱나리 ‘Enchantment’, 나팔나리 ‘Georgia’, 그리고 오리엔탈나리 ‘Con Amore’의 꽃을 식물재료로 사용하여 개화 단계 및 꽃의 기관별 향기의 특성을 비교하였다. 아시아틱나 리는 3개의 피크, 나팔나리는 4개의 피크, 오리엔탈나 리는 6개의 피크로 계통간에 향기성분의 차이가 컸다. 향기 함량은 오리엔탈나리에서 가장 많았고, 아시아틱 나리에서 가장 적었다. 향기의 최대 발생시기의 경우, 아시아틱나리는 개약 단계인데 비해 나팔나리와 오리 엔탈나리는 위조단계였다. 송이 당 꽃향기의 최대발생 기관의 경우 아시아틱나리는 외화피, 나팔나리는 화병, 오리엔탈나리는 내화피였다.

본 연구에서는 향기섬유제품에 대한 향기감성반응이 제품에 대한 태도와 구매의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구모형을 제시하고 530명의 소비자를 대상으로 온라인 설문을 실시하여 연구모형에 대한 성별비교를 하였다. 연구결과에서 제시된 연구모형은 남녀 간에 유의한 차이를 보였다. 여성의 경우 향기섬유제품에 대한 태도에 영향을 미치는 감성반응은 유쾌성, 자극성, 친숙성, 적합성으로 나타났으며, 남성의 경우 유쾌성만이 태도에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 또한 남녀모두에서 향기의 유쾌성이 향기섬유제품에 있어 가장 중요한 요인이었으며 남성은 향기섬유제품에 대하여 더 높은 구매의도를 보였다.
