Conventional analysis and design of steel structures are performed using the assumption of a either fully rigid or pinned. However, every steel connection lies in between fully rigid and pinned connection. So, It is important to consider the connection for steel structure design. In this paper Computer-based second-order elastic analysis is used to calculate one story two bay and two story three bay for steel structures with semi-rigid connection. Genetic Algorithms(GAs) and Sequential Unconstrained Minized Technique(SUMT) dynamic programming is used to the method for optimum design of steel structures. The efficiency and validity of the developed continuous and discrete optimum design algorithm was verified by applying the algorithm to optimum design examples.

This paper is concerned with the dynamic characteristics of buildings, especially with the measurement of the natural frequencies(natural periods) and the damping. Process of ambient vibration and synchronized human excitation tests for natural period and damping are given. Data from measurement on 16 reinforced concrete buildings in Seoul and Seoul national university of technology are given. 16 Low-rise Reinforced concrete buildings are measured for ambient vibration to obtain the vibrations characteristics. The natural periods obtained by ambient vibration measurements are compared with those of forecast model suggested by standards and foreign researchers. The natural periods show a clear dependence on building height. On the other hand, the damping ration scatter under the influence of various factors, for example, building height and natural frequency.

This paper have performed to investigate the influence of certain parameters, including the boundary condition types, load ratios of the steel beams, and span/depth ratios of the beams itself on the structural behaviour of the steel beams at elevated temperatures. This paper is analysed the stress and vertical deflection at mid-span of the steel beams at elevated temperatures and also predicted 'failure' temperatures of the steel beams at elevated temperatures. Fire analysis used here is analysed by software VULCAN. Design examples are given to describe the structural behaviour of the steel beams at elevated temperatures.

This paper is represented a general equations to obtain the elastic local buckling stresses for the flange and web of H-beam under compression at elevated temperatures and is also developed the software to perform the elastic local buckling analysis at elevated temperatures. Eurocode3 Part 1.2 are used to analyse the decrease in steel yield strength and elastic modulus at elevated temperatures. For design examples of 6 H-beams, the elastic local buckling stresses and critical temperatures for the slenderness ratio (b/tf and d/tw) of the flange and web under uniform compression at elevated temperatures have been analysed by a computer program of this paper. It can be seen that the computer analytical results of this study show a good agreement with the experimental results by Wadee.

This paper presents a truss model that can predict the shear behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) beams subjected to the combined actions of shear and flexure. Unlike other truss models, the proposed truss model, TATM, takes into account the effect of the flexural moment on the shear strength of RC beams with different shear span-to-depth ratios. To check the successfulness of the proposed model experimentally obtained stress shear strain curves were compared to the predicted ones using the proposed truss model. Furthermore, the shear strengths of 170 RC test beams with variable shear span-to-depth ratios were compared to the shear strengths as given by the truss model reported in this paper.

The structural system that discreterized from continuous shells is frequently used to make a large space structures. As well these structures show the unstable phenomena when a load level over the limit load, and snap-through and bifurcation are most well known of it. For the collapse mechanism, rise-span ratio, element stiffness and load mode are main factor, which it give an effect to unstable behavior. In our real situation, most structures have semi-rigid joint that has middle characteristic between pin and rigid joint. So the knowledge of semi-rigid joint is very important problem of stable large space structure. And the instability phenemena of framed space structures show a strong non-linearity and very sensitive behavior according to the joint rigidity For this reason In this study, we are investigating to unstable problem of framed structure with semi-rigidity and to grasp the nonlinear instability behavior that make the fundamental collapse mechanism of the large space frame structures with semi-rigid joint, by proposed the numerical analysis method. Using the incremental stiffness matrix in chapter 2, we study instability of space structures.
