Single layer free-form structures are being highlighted in the field of architecture due to its attractive shape. In these structures, node connecting system is very important because the node must resist bending and axial stress simultaneously. So the local and global stabilities of entire structure can be determined by the stiffness of node system. In this study, therefore, various types of bending test with axial force were performed. As a result, bending capacity with axial force of a new spherical node for free-form structure could be performed and structural capacities were checked to use in real structure.

The design of foot-bridge is often influenced by natural frequency. Consequently, vibration frequency becomes important. The empirical expressions used to quantify this parameter at the design phase have not been developed enough to give guideline to Korean foot-bridge. This paper is concerned with the vertical natural frequency of steel foot-bridges. It describes the vibration measurement methods employed for testing structures and presents reliable methods of assessing natural frequency from jumping vibration tests. Data from measurements on 16 structures in Seoul are given. Regression formulas of natural frequency for steel-framed foot-bridges are suggested. Finally, obtained formula are compared with empirical expressions of Seoul City's guideline.

When we excavate an underground to build basement, the ground anchors are needed to prevent collapse of neighboring ground, subsidence and movement. Ground anchor construction required shore sheet piles, wales and struts as to maintain secure excavation. Existing box-type bracket using head part of ground anchor can not be possibly adjustable to the boring angle because the brackets are manufactured with unified angle in a factory. Also, box-type brackets have imperfection and instability caused by inequable force. In this study, a new bracket system is proposed. The bracket's side plate is reinforced and the angle of boring can be controlled. To investigate the structural performance of presented brackets, FEM analysis has been performed by using ANSYS commercial program. As a result, this bracket shows sufficient stability for all angle case and the strength is increased about 24% than existing bracket.

Simple 3, 10, and 30-story buildings with a nonstructural element which is located at roof or near the middle of the building height are selected. Based on 2009 Korean Building Code, the seismic design force applied at the nonstructural element is evaluated. Response spectrum analysis is conducted with the design response acceleration spectrum of 2009 Korean Building Code and the analytical response is compared with the seismic design force from the Code. Furthermore, an artificial earthquake based on Korean design response acceleration spectrum and the 50% intensity of El Centro earthquake, which can be considered as the maximum future earthquake possibly occurring in Korea, are selected to conduct time history analysis. When the period of the nonstructural element is shorter than 0.06 second or longer than that of the 1st period of each building, the Code equations of seismic design force for nonstructural element seems to be appropriate. However, the period of the nonstructural element is close to the one of the building's higher mode periods including the 1st period, seismic force of the nonstructural element might exceed the Code specified seismic design force.

The purpose of this paper is to study comparative of dynamic instability characteristic of Geiger-typed cable dome structures by load condition, which is well-known among the cable dome structures that are the lightweight hybrid structure using compression and tension element continuously. Dynamic buckling process in the phase plane is very important thing for understanding why unstable phenomena are sensitively originated in nonlinear dynamic by various initial conditions. But there is no paper for the dynamic instability of hybrid cable dome by Sinusoidal Excitations, many papers which deal with the dynamic instability for shell-structures under the step load have been published. As a result of Geiger-typed cable dome, which shows chaotic behavior in dynamic nonlinear analysis with initial imperfection.

Deployable structure is a system on which the study is being actively performed in various fields including architecture field. However, There is little study which can enhance the practicality since the interpretation condition is difficult as the unstable structure in the architecture field. In this study, the Scissors system has been focused on among the Deployable structure. The structure was developed using the Scissors system and the Mock-up test was performed. Through this, the unfolding method was proposed and the practicability was surveyed through the specific design of the Test model. Also, the structure stability was reviewed through structure analysis of Mock-up test model. and stabilizing method was proposed.

In order to overcome the key shortcoming of Hamilton's principle, recently, the extended framework of Hamilton's principle was developed. To investigate its potential in further applications especially for material non-linearity problems, the focus is initially on a classical single-degree-of-freedom elasto-viscoplastic model. More specifically, the extended framework is applied to the single-degree-of-freedom elasto-viscoplastic model, and a corresponding weak form is numerically implemented through a temporal finite element approach. The method provides a non-iterative algorithm along with unconditional stability with respect to the time step, while yielding whole information to investigate the further dynamics of the considered system.
