The core aim of this paper is to empirically scrutinize a strength characteristic and ductility of the beam-column frame of reinforced with steel subjected to the cyclic lateral load. First and foremost, I the author embarks upon making four prototypes vis-à-vis this research. Through this endeavour, the author has analysed cyclic behavior, fracture shape, ductility and energy dissipation of the normal beam-column frame and a beam-column frame of reinforced with steel. In addition, the survey has revealed the exact stress transfer path and the destructive mechanism in order to how much a beam-column frame of reinforced with steel has resistance to earthquake regarding all types of building, as well as school construction. To get the correct data, the author has compared the normal beam-column frame and three types of the beam-column frame of reinforced with steel following these works, the characteristic of cyclic behavior, destructive mechanism, ductility, and Energy dissipation of normal beam-column frame and a beam-column frame of reinforced with steel have been examined clearly.
Since the terrorist attacks 9.11 in 2001, the public places such as subway, department stores or office buildings have become a target of terror in major public facilities. In this paper, for the prevention of terrorist attack in domestic building, the assessments of terror risk were conducted and their relationship with building heights was discussed through FEMA 455-Rapid Visual Screening(RVS). Explosive terror risk tends to increase rapidly with building heights(H<230m), showing the correlation coefficient between total risk and building heights(H<230m) is 0.93. In addition, The average of consequences is 8.47 and that of' threat is 8.95. Vulnerability is found to be 6.62 in average.
Long span arch structure is composed of arch as relatively flexible structure and column as relatively rigid structure. In this study, the characteristic of dynamic response is analyzed according to the natural frequency ratio between arch and columns. The result of analysis for arch as relatively vertical vibration mode is dominant, the influence of columns mainly appears at relatively high frequency band according to increase of 1st mode frequency in column. However, the dynamic characteristic of arch structure is expected to vary with not only frequency ratio but interaction between vibration modes of arch and columns.
In paper after the strong earthquake of recently the Korea neighborhood, the Korean government survey show that the 86% of school buildings in Korea are in potential damage risk and only 14% of them are designed as earthquake-resistance buildings. Earthquake Reinforcing projects of school have been a leading by the ministry of education, however their reinforcing methods done by not proved a engineering by experiment which results in uneconomical and uneffective rehabilitation for the future earthquake. An experimental and analytical study have been conducted for the shear reinforcing method of column by axis and horizontal axis load using attaching composite beam. Based on the previous research, in this study, Design examples are given to show the performance evaluation for the column reinforcing of old school buildings using nonlinear analysis is going to be conducted and strengthening method is going to be on the market after their performance is proved by the test.
A series of wind tunnel tests were conducted on 7 super-tall buildings with various polygon cross-sections, including triangle, square, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, dodecagon, and circular. The primary purpose of the present study is to investigate the effect of increasing number of sides on aerodynamic characteristics for super-tall buildings. Wind tunnel tests were conducted under the turbulent boundary layers whose power-law exponent is 0.27. Fluctuating wind pressures from more than 200 pressure taps were recorded simultaneously, and time series of overturning moments were calculated considering tributary area of each pressure tap. The results show that the overturning moment coefficients and the spectral values decrease with increasing number of sides, and the largest mean and fluctuating overturning moments were found for the triangular super-tall building, and the largest spectral values were found for the square super-tall building. The analysis should be conducted more in detail, but currently it can be roughly said that there seems to be a little differences in the aerodynamic characteristics for the super-tall buildings whose number of sides is larger than 5 or 6.
A multi-input single-output (MISO) semi-active control systems were studied by many researchers. For more improved vibration control performance, a structure requires more than one control device. In this paper, multi-input multi-output (MIMO) semi-active fuzzy controller has been proposed for vibration control of seismically excited small-scale buildings. The MIMO fuzzy controller was optimized by multi-objective genetic algorithm. For numerical simulation, five-story example building structure is used and two MR dampers are employed. For comparison purpose, a clipped-optimal control strategy based on acceleration feedback is employed for controlling MR dampers to reduce structural responses due to seismic loads. Numerical simulation results show that the MIMO fuzzy control algorithm can provide superior control performance to the clipped-optimal control algorithm.
