In this study, by comparing the current steel structure design equations find out the problems, we will utilize to make the pipe-gusset joint equations. Representative equations CIDECT and AIJ-02 consider unreinforced and reinforced. As a result, there is some difference. therefore current equations decrease in reliability, in order to propose more accurate design equations need additional testing experimentation through finite element analysis

In this study, an experimental study to investigate the load transfer behavior of the CFT column to steel beam connection was carried out. The load transfer mechanism and the effect of the load transfer length were examined, and the results were also compared with finite element analysis results. Finally, the results are to be used for the basic reference of the design guideline for the CFT column connection.

In order to apply a mechanical deck joint to the prefabricated steel gird composite decks, shear resistance of a joint composed of concrete shear key and high-tension bolt is experimentally evaluated by the push-out test. In comparison with resistances estimated by empirical and design equations, the deck joint can be safely designed. But because the existed shear resistance of deck joint is underestimated by the ACI-318, application of the LRFD design equation could be more reasonable.

In order to eliminate the defects of reinforced-concrete decks in terms of material, the steel-straped deck system is developed by maximizing the arching effect while the girders are restrained using straps in lateral direction to the bridge. In this paper, nonlinear FEA are performed for various parameters such as slab thickness, span length, strap spacing and sectional area, etc. in order to derive the equation to design the deck slab with steel-strap considering the minimum thickness of Korean design standards.

The objective of this research is to verify the code–specified girder distribution factors (GDF) for continuous steel girder bridges by field testing. it is found that the analysis results are not conservative, and in some instance, the analytical results underestimate the actual GDF’s, which can lead to a groundless notion of safety. As a result, it is found that GDF’s specified in AASHTO LRFD should be used with careful reservation.

Shin Geo-Je Bridge needs new inspection holes to improve the accessibility for various maintenances. This study evaluated the maximum von mises stresses(SE) of the bottom flange when the inspection holes is made with an ellipse shape. The FEM analysis results show that the inspection installation is possible to the inflection point of the girder because buckling phenomenon doesn't occur according to the loading.

Steel Box-Truss Hybrid bridge consisted with steel box type in positive moment that is allowed to resist with low depth and truss type in negative moment is new type bridge. This can be used as 80m∼150m long span bridge and is economical structural type. But safety of truss type is concerned because of torsion that occurs when Steel Box-Truss Hybrid bridge applies a curved bridge. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze and evaluate straight and curved bridge for commercialization of Steel Box-Truss Hybrid bridge. In this study, structural analysis of Steel Box-Truss hybrid curved bridge with various curvature is performed and compared with member force and displacement of Steel Box-Truss Hybrid straight bridge. Also the applicable limited curvature of Steel Box-Truss Bridge form is proposed.

The paper is focused on evaluation of the effect of quality of concrete and construction workmanship on the reliability of beams. The reliability analysis is performed for moments and shear forces in steel beams. The basic resisance parameters considered in this study are bias factor and coefficient of variation. The calculated reliability indices indicate that bias factor is the most critical parameter that determines the structural performance.

Recently, water surface floating solar power system are few appeared some companies in the country. However, it is the reality of most structures using steel and the problem’s occurred in durability for error of design issues and corrosion. In order to solve these problems, research is being conducted for various materials but performance verification is insufficient. In this study, in order to predict the structural behavior of water surface floating solar power structure and to confirm the safety, it tried to understand the mechanical properties of PFRP, synthetic wood instead of steel.

To evaluate the traffic safety of PSC box bridge for high running speed up to 500km/h of KTX, a dynamic analysis of displacement spectrum on the bearings of bridge is needed concurrently with existing design specifications. Longitude/transverse directions of displacement spectrum are considered to analyze the dynamic structural behaviors of PSC bridges as well as harmonic running movements of KTX due to three mass; a cargo body, front/rear bogies and four wheel axises connected with two suspensions. KTX power train is modeled by 38 degree-of -freedom ; 6 degree-of-freedom for body and bogies, and 5 degree-of-freedom for wheel axises. The rotation spectrum of KTX resulted in the analysis will be focused on the design specification of KTX running on the bridge, for increasing its speed as a new evaluation standards of traffic safety.

The first ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) road bridge in Korea was constructed by KICT in 2012. Field loading tests were performed to estimate the structural performance of this bridge. As a result, we found that this bridge has sufficient safety and serviceability.

In this paper, studied on the continuous Up and Down Prestressed Concrete (UD PSC) girder bridge in which the reinforced concrete pier cap is integral with the part of girders in superstructure were performed. In previous studies, it is known that the structural behavior of continuous UD PSC girder bridge is quite different compared to the one of the bridges with conventional bearings or shoes to support the loading from girders. Nevertheless, it has hardly been studied about the structural behavior of bridge with UD PSC girder. Therefore, in this study, various static behaviors of continuous UD PSC girder bridge with integral pier cap have been analyzed using numerical method.

This study is aimed to examine the minimum required thickness of U-shaped ribs for the laminated composite plates under in-plane uniaxial compression. 3-dimensional finite element models for the U-rib stiffened plates were setup by using ABAQUS and then a series of eigenvalue analyses were conducted. The minimum required thickness was compared by applying the orthotropic plates with the eight layer composite layups of [(0°)4]s, [(0°/90°)2]s and [(-45°/45°)2]s. There is a need to develope a simple design method to determine the minimum required thickness of U-shaped ribs, which should require more much parametric analysis results than a series of data shown in this study. This study will contribute to the future study for establishing the optimum design method of U-rib stiffened plates.

For construction of temporary structure used anchor, it will be reinforced with stiffener to prevent excessive deformation of the wale. In general, the welded steel stiffener is used. Construction of welded steel stiffener is costly and time-consuming and cause the problem that wale does not reuse. In order to solve these problems, various kinds of non-weled stiffeners are being developed. In this paper, non-welded and conventional welded stiffener for maximum strength, fracture pattern and the residual stregth due to cyclic loading is to evaluate.

In this study, a 3D FE model is developed by which one can analyze the composite action in the composite beam subjected to the hogging moment. Analysis results show that the reinforcement ratio and crack behaviour of the slab are main factors which exert a strong influence on the composite action. The existing experimental results, that the design of partial interaction can be more efficient in designing of shear connection of the composite beams, are indirectly verified by the FE analysis.

This study is a result of the dynamic characteristics of tall building located in Haewoondae. In order to analyze the natural frequency and damping ratio of the building, acceleration is measured through wind monitoring system during 6 months.
