In this study, a structural modeling and an analysis considering structural stability were investigated to develop an icosahedron-based hemispherical modular dome. To design the dome, a program that can perform icosahedron shape modeling, modularization of joint connection members. Furthermore, based on the adopted numerical model, the buckling mode, unstable behavior characteristics according to load vector, and the critical buckling load of the modular dome under uniformly distributed load and concentrated load were analyzed, and the resistance capacities according to different load vectors were compared.

Railroad sites are exposed to noise and vibration problem due to train operation. This train-induced noise and vibration transferred from the ground to the near existing building. It is possible to cause a vibration in the building. Evermore, the tenant in the building enable to feel such train-induced noise and vibration. Based on that, a device, termed anti-vibration device, to reduce noise and vibration in the building was needed and was invented through this study.

In this study, the shear buckling strengths of the trapezoidal and sinusoidal corrugated plates with the same self-load were compared, and their characteristics and tendencies were analyzed. In the preceding comparative study of corrugation shapes, the corrugation wave depth and the corrugation wave angle were the same. As these target, A linear buckling analysis was conducted, and the differences in the shear buckling mode and the buckling stress were analyzed.

Connection details for RC column-steel beam (RCS) moment frames were developed to improve the productivity and constructability. To strengthen the beam-column joint, transverse beams, studs, and U-cross ties were used. Four 2/3 scale interior RCS connections were tested under cyclic lateral loading. The specimens generally exhibited good deformation capacity exceeding 4.0% story drift ratio. Ultimately, the specimens failed due to bearing failure of concrete and shear failure of the joint panel.

Recently, studies of eco-friendly construction materials have been increased. For this reason, this paper presents the material properties of steel fiber reinforced slag concrete. Direct shear, flexural, and CMOD tests were conducted to determine the shear and flexural contribution of steel fiber.

The expression 'Resistance capacity' in bridge engineering indicates the certain qualitative level of important characteristics that a bridge possesses, against the various types of action or load. Even if the bridges are constructed with similar feature, the resistance capacities evaluated from these bridges are different due to the uncertainties. This study focuses on presenting a resistance capacity model of bridge which considers the uncertainties caused from the statistical characteristics of bridge members. The developed model is applied to evaluate the lifetime safety/reliability of a bridge. Based on the result of this evaluation, this study aims to improve the effectiveness of bridge maintenance works.

Based on the test results of walls with Grade 550 MPa and aspect ratio of 2.0, it was found that the behavior of the wall is close to that of wall with Grade 420 MPa, which is the maximum permissible strength of shear reinforcing bars in ACI 318 (or ACI 349). The findings can be used as an evidence to increase the permissible maximum strength of shear reinforcing bars for shear walls with aspect ratio less than 2.0 in ACI 318(or ACI 349).

This study focuses on presenting a resistance capacity model of bridge which considers the surrounding environment. This model provides the timely decreasing characteristics of resistance capacity during the service life of bridge. The presented model is developed by using the statistical data announced to the public and the reliable research reports. The developed model is applied to evaluate the lifetime safety/reliability of a bridge. Based on the result of this evaluation, this study aims to accumulate the basic data of bridge maintenance works.

Difference of two standards, AISC N690 and KEPIC SNG, for the in-plane shear strength was experimentally investigated. In AISC N690, unlike KEPIC SNG, the tie system should be applied to the entire surface of the faceplate. However, using many tie systems is impractical and ineffective due to technical challenges such as difficulty of welding and maintenance. Thus, reducing the number of tie systems is needed, by replacing them with studs. In this study, we experimentally investigated distribution effect of in-plane shear strength connector such as stud and tie bar.

The changes in mechanical performance of steel beams are necessarily occurred by mechanical property degradation under fire exposure conditions. Therefore, in this paper, the residual stress, deflection and mechanical performance of H-section steel beams after exposure to fire were analyzed using ABAQUS.

Based on AISC Design Guide-#1, limit-state function of steel column-base plate connection is defined. Comparison with test and numerical result, this method acculately predicts bending moment capacity of this connection.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of multi-stage homotopy perturbation method to shallow arches in order to obtain a semi-analytical solution. For this research purpose, a nonlinear governing equation of the arches was formulated and a homotopy equation was derived using the formulated differential equation. The result of a dynamic analysis on a symmetric mode and an asymmetric one was compared with the classical homotopy perturbation method and the 4th order Runge-Kutta method.

This study investigates the ultimate strength and curling influence in single shear bolted connection with aluminum alloys(6061-T6) using finite element analysis. The applicability of numerical modeling was validated through the comparison of existing test results. Main variables are end distance and edge distance. Strength reduction ratio by curling was estimated quantatively and it is known that the curling reduced the ultimate strength by maximum 26%.

The development and field application of the environment friendly Precast concrete by replacing the blast furnace slag were examined. As a result, it was found that compressive strength of Precast concrete used 50% of blast furnace slag was similar to Plain. While 70% of blast furnace slag was slightly decreased. In the result of Mock-up Test, the compressive strength of Precast concrete used 50% of blast furnace slag was satisfied with the target strength. but greening phenomenon occurred. Although greening occurred on the surface of the Precast concrete, it was gradually disappeared over the age. Therefore, the use of blast furnace slag was available up to 50%.

In this study, experimental study on the missile impact behavior of the nuclear power plant SC(steel plate concrete) wall was carried out to set up the future direction for the reasonable design method development. Four set of actual impact test of the SC wall were conducted at the EMRTC site located in Socorro, New Mexico. Initial and residual velocity of the missile, strain and acceleration of the back plate, local failure mode and deformation size, etc. were measured to study the local failure behaviour of the specimens. Finally, the experimental results are compared with the local failure evaluation formula and future research direction for the refined design method of the SC wall was reviewed.

TLP is an offshore structure which should be tested for the buckling strength for safety. In this paper, DNV-RP-C208 are used to analyze a stress resultant of buckling phenomenon for complicated structures by using nonlinear finite element methods.

Base on Korean design code, previous design code had not considered the effect of pavement on the orthotropic steel deck, however recent design code(Limit State Design Method, 2012) allowed to consider the effect of pavement on the orthotropic steel deck, and efforts to apply the stiffness of pavement to the deck continue. Meanwhile, research on the effect of ultra thin bridge deck overlay on the orthotropic steel deck is inadequate, previous study was limited in about fatigue stress and performance between pavement layer and the orthotropic steel deck. In this study, according to changing of pavement layer stiffness application, pavement materials, pavement thickness and steel deck thickness, analysis of shear stress. In addition to base on this result, consider effectiveness of ultra-thin pavement stiffness application on the orthotropic steel deck.

In this study, A preliminary research has been attempted by design and strength analysis on a series of precast ultra high-strength concrete slab systems in order to evaluate. To compare with conventional reinforced concrete slabs, current slab systems can improve serviceability and ultimate load capacities, crack control, and durability, so as to apply in long span, lightweight, and slender building slab systems.

In this study, four reinforced concrete beam-column joints, replacing recycled materials with hybrid fiber were constructed and tested under monotonic loading. Experimental programs were carried out to improve and evaluate the seismic performance of such test specimens, such as the load-displacement, the failure mode, and the maximum load carrying capacity. All the specimens were modeled in 1/2 scale-down size.

In this stydy, experimental research was carried out the hysteretic behavior of reinforced concrete haunched beams such as application with or without haunched. Test results showed that test specimens(FTH) was increased respectively the maximum load carrying capacity by positive 18%, negative 29% in comparison with the specimens(FTG). And the specimens(FTH) showed stable hysteretic behavior compared to the specimen(FTG)
