This study addresses to evaluate the reaction of bridge support in associate with analytical parameters of skew angle and radius of curvature in curved bridge, which results in the finding of weakest point in dynamic analysis. It was found from the analysis that reaction at the support of acute angle area located at inner side of curved bridge has the lowest value which means the possibility of negative reaction when seismic load happens.

To evaluate the possibility of negative reaction at seismic isolation bearings subject to seismic load, seismic records of El-Centro and artificial earthquake wave were applied to a single-plate girder bridge with various analytical parameters of curvature radii and skew angles. It is found that seismic analysis using those parameters should be carried out to prevent negative reaction at support.

Frequency-adaptive Lumped Mass Stick (LMS) method has been proposed recently to present the dynamic responses of a structure by a stick model which has identical frequencies to the original structure. The masses of the LMS model are obtained by an iterative method following a sequence of equations, where the masses always converge to certain values. Those values are solutions of a nonlinear equations system as will be shown in this study. This paper also investigates the significance of masses locations on the dynamic responses of the LMS models.

Recently, the interests for the earthquake disaster reduction of stone pagoda structure have been increased. So, the seismic performance evaluation is required according to the construction types and seismic loads. Therefore, this study presents the structure types according to construction circumstances to compare seismic behavior characteristics of stone pagoda structures.

Two sets of modal testing have been conducted for a layered stone pagoda with different boundary conditions. It is observed that the horizontal deflection mode of the pagoda system has a set of double modes which may be a rocking mode and a sliding mode. Due to the larger area of the base stone, the frequencies of the structural system are very sensitive with the ground surface conditions, while its mode shapes are not.

Interest in seismic performance evaluation is increased due to various earthquake in the world. Many studies about fragility analysis of structure are performing which is based on probability analysis of failure for infrastructures maintenance. In this study, probability of failure for a numerical model of prototype square-shape reinforced concrete column was calculated in accordance with amplitude of seismic ground motion. The numerical model was updated based on results from shake table tests. The probability of failure will be used for comparing with that for scaled models. The difference of fragilities from prototype and scaled model can be confirmed by the comparing in a further study.

In this paper, shear strain dependence of high hardness laminated rubber bearings were studied through tests. The shear strain dependency test is considered the changes by increase the shear strain by 50%, 100% and 150% based on 100% of total rubber thickness. As the test results shear strain increases were identified a tendency to decrease the shear stiffness.

Recently, it was found that the Vulnerability Index(VI) of Preliminary assessment for water pipelines seismic performance in domestic had lacks of correlation of detailed safety assessment. The purpose of this study is to propose a reasonable VI by analysing on correlation between existing VI and safety factor.

In this study, axial-stress distribution of enlarged concrete column according to degree of composite is analysed. The analysis showed that axial-stress on existing concrete and new concrete was concentrated to edge in case of lower degree of composite. On the other hand, axial-stress was evenly distributed in case of higher degree of composite.

This study is to understand the structural behavior of flexural member according to the splice length of specimens reinforced by GFRP reinforcing bar. As compared with reinforcement, GFRP reinforcing bar has superior material properties such as non-corrosiveness, light weight, non-conduction, etc. However, GFRP reinforcing bar is difficult to use instead of reinforcement owing to brittle fracture when it failed. Therefore, GFRP reinforcing bar mixed with deformed reinforcing bar were used. A total of 5 specimen was produced and tested and the test main variables are the diameter of tension steel, lap splice length of GFRP reinforcing bar which are for investigating the reinforcement effects. The diameter of tension steel set as D10, and D13 and the lap splice length of GFRP reinforcing bar set as 30db, 45db and, 60db. The results of the experimental test, the specimen with GFRP reinforcing bar proved more reinforcement effect than the one without GFRP tie bar. At the same time, the specimen with tension steel of D13 increased an overall strength more than the one with tension steel of D10. The longer lap splice length showed increase the strength.

FRP reinforcement method is superior in safety and economic terms, but it's appears rapid degradation due to brittle fracture of reinforcing material. To solve this problem, study for PET sheet as reinforcement material was conducted by existing FRP reinforcement method. An experimental test was carried out by the amount of reinforcement and reinforcement types as the primary variable. As a results of this test, PET sheet appears ductility enhancement without rapid degradation. Consequently, it is judged that PET sheet is available to apply the field application.

The object of this study is to investigate the confined effects of specimens using GFRP(glass fiber reinforced polymer) sheet and PET(polyethylene terephthalate) sheet. Since GFRP and PET sheet have a grate deformation capacity, the brittle failure of concrete can be avoid. A total of specimens is sixteen and major variables are the type of strengthen material and strengthening layer. As a result of test, specimens reinforced with a glass fiber sheet compare to the standard specimen have a significant increase both strength and ductility. Ductile of the specimens reinforced with PET is superior to it of the GFRP regardless of strengthening layer. However, in the strength effect aspect is not great compare to the ductile. Resultingly, it is judged that the reinforced method with PET is available to apply field application.

This paper presents the experimental results for reinforcement effect for FRP strengthened steel structures. Bond behavior, flexural, and compression were conducted. First, from bond test, it was able to examine the interfacial behavior and to evaluate the interfacial bond stress between AFRP plate and steel plates. Second, for flexural test, maximum load was increased with increasing FRP layer. Also, debonding failure was observed between steel plates and FRP plates. Third, for compression, for short columns it was observed that two sides would typically buckle outward and the other sides would buckle inward. Also, for long columns, overall buckling observed. The maximum load was increased up to 33% for slender section short columns. From the test, it was able to verify the reinforcement effect for FRP strengthened steel structures.

In this study a seismic retrofit scheme for a reinforced concrete shear wall structure using steel slit dampers was presented. The stiffness and the strength of the slit damper used in the retrofit were verified by cyclic loading test. Genetic algorithm was applied to find out optimum location of the slit dampers. The effects of the slit dampers on the seismic retrofit of the model were compared with those of jacketing shear walls. The seismic performance of the model structure with optimally positioned slit dampers was evaluated by nonlinear static and dynamic analyses. Based on the analysis results, the simple procedure for determining required damping ratio using capacity spectrum method along with the damper distribution pattern proportional to the inter-story drifts was validated.

In this study, the retrofit effect by fiber reinforced plastics (FRP) for the existing reinforced concrete (RC) moment frames is investigated. The FRP jacketing method is employed for retrofitting the flexural strength of columns and the FRP U-shaped wrapping method are utilized for retrofitting the shear strength of beams. The placements and amount of FRP retrofit are determined by the genetic algorithm based optimal seismic retrofit algorithm.

In this study, the behavior of the existing tunnel was measured by automation system to analyze the characteristics of lining longitudinal cracks. The characteristic of the infusion material which it is applicable to crack repairing was considered by grasping the overall behavior including the temperature and the crack width change, and etc., From this, the reasonable repair period for the complement efficiency enhancement was trying to be determined.

In this study, degradation due to the durability of the coating to reduce the check for to determine the deterioration of the durability coating was in parallel to outdoor exposure test and the salt spray test on the marine environment. weatherability paint coating was electrochemical measured using EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) to evaluate durability. The purpose of the study was to compare the reduced durability of the paint coating.

This paper presents a protection method with FBG sensor in a 7-wire steel strand for improving measurement range of the sensor. For this purpose, both polyimide tube and teflon tube are employed to protect the FBG sensor. Uniaxial tests are carried out to compare their performances with those without the protection. The comparison showed that (1) maximum measurable deformation strain of the FBG-encapsulated strand with the polyimide tube enhancement is superior to the strand without the protection, (2) and it can measure effective strain larger than 1.00% without slip around the FBG sensor while there may occur the slip in the strand with teflon tube.

A country has been devoting a lot of attention in order to prepare the aging facilities. we were examined the status of hydrological facilities and reviewed the detailed guidelines for the safety assessment procedure. This study were derived the problems of safety assessment procedure by comparing detailed guidelines and field applications. Also, we proposed improvement plan of the assessment procedure.
