Background: Various treatments are being tried for lumbar neuropathy. Among them, neural mobilization aims to reduce peripheral nerve sensitivity by stimulating them directly. Similarly, applying kinesiotape stimulates skin and joint receptors around the nerves, thereby affecting nerve function and movement. Objectives: To investigated the effect of low back pain on the neural mobilization and kinesiotaping. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: Thirty patients with chronic low back pain were randomly allocated to three groups: the neural mobilization exercise with kinesiotaping group (NEKTG, n=10), the neural mobilization exercise group (NEG, n=10), and the kinesiotaping group (KTG, n=10). Each group performed six intervention sessions over two weeks. The results were analyzed by measuring the numeric pain rating scale (NPRS) and straight leg raise (SLR) before and after the intervention in each group. Results: NEKTG, NEG, and KTG all indicated a significant decrease in the back pain index before and after the intervention. However, there were no differences observed between the three groups. The SLR angles before the experiment were identical across the three groups. The SLR angles before and after the intervention were as follows: the SLR angle significantly increased in NEKTG. Furthermore, there was a significant increase in the SLR angle in NEKTG compared to both NEG and KTG. Conclusion: Neural mobilization combined with kinesiotaping provided better therapeutic effects regarding pain reduction and neurodynamic improvement compared to alone kinesiotaping and mobilization with chronic low back pain.
Background: It is Difficult for older adults to avoid a decreased in pulmonary functions caused by aging, and these reduced functions have been shown to affect not only the quality of life, but also the rate of disease and mortality. Although massage therapy is generally applied as a treatment method for improving the musculoskeletal system, massage is also studied as a potential intervention for lung function as a complementary treatment method.
Objectives: To determine the effects of massage and relaxation breathing exercise applied after a low-intensity walking exercise on pulmonary functions in older individuals.
Design: Quaxi-experiment study.
Methods: Twelve day care elderly were divided into a massage group (n=6) and a relaxation breathing exercise group (n=6). After performing low-intensity walking exercise twice for 7 weeks, massage intervention and relaxation breathing exercise intervention were performed, respectively. PEF, FEV1, and FVC were measured by performing lung function tests pre- and post the intervention.
Results: As a result of this study, PEF and FVC were significantly increased in the pre- and post-group comparison of MG, and there was no significant difference in FEV1. There were no significant differences in all variables in the pre-post comparison of RBEG within groups. There was no significant difference in all variables in the comparison between the two groups on the intervention results.
Conclusion: To conclude, pulmonary functions in older adults increased significantly after the massage intervention, although no significant difference was found in comparison to intervention with relaxation breathing exercise.
본 연구는 발효노니 다당체 추출물(Vitalbos)을 건강기능 식품 소재로 활용하기 위해 DAA, 총당 함량, 단당류 3종 (galacturonic acid, glucose 및 galactose)을 지표성분으로 설정하고, 지표성분에 대한 효과적인 분석법 설정 및 검 증을 위해 수행되었다. 기존에 보고된 분석법 검증 방법 을 수정하여 특이성, 직선성, 정밀성, 정확성, 검출한계 (LOD) 및 정량한계(LOQ)를 고성능 액체크로마토그래피와 페놀-황산법을 이용하여 측정하였다. 그 결과 DAA 및 단 당류 3종의 표준용액과 Vitalbos의 머무름 시간이 일치하 였으며 스펙트럼 또한 동일하여 분석법의 특이성을 확인 하였다. 지표성분의 검량선 상관계수(R2)는 0.9995-0.9998 범위로 0.99 이상의 우수한 직선성을 나타냈다. Intra-day 및 inter-day 정밀도는 0.14-3.01%의 범위로 5% 미만의 우 수한 정밀도를 나타냈고 회수율은 95.13-105.59% 범위에 서 우수한 정확도를 보였다. DAA 분석의 LOD와 LOQ는 각각 0.39 μg/mL 및 1.18 μg/mL이었으며 총당 함량의 LOD 및 LOQ는 각각 0.84 μg/mL 및 2.55 μg/mL로 측정 되었다. 단당류 3종에 대한 LOD는 0.48-0.81 μg/mL의 범 위였으며, LOQ는 1.45-2.44 μg/mL 범위에서 정량분석이 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 분석법 검증 결과, 특이성, 직선 성, 정밀성 및 정확성 모두 우수한 분석법임을 검증하였 으며, LOD와 LOQ 또한 Vitalbos 분석에 적합하였음을 확 인하였다. 검증된 분석법을 이용하여 Vitalbos의 지표 성분 함량을 측정하였을 때, DAA, 총당 함량, galacturonic acid, glucose 및 galactose의 함량은 각각 2.31±0.06 mg/dry weight g, 475.92±5.95 mg/dry weight g, 72.83±1.05 mg/dry weight g, 71.63±2.44 mg/dry weight g 및 67.30±2.31 mg/dry weight g으로 측정되었다. 본 연구에서 검증된 분석법을 사용했을 때 Vitalbos의 지표성분 3종에 대하여 우수한 재현성으로 정 량분석이 가능하였으며, 건강기능식품 소재로의 품질관리에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
Background: Stroke is a neurological disorder characterized by an impaired static balance. A change in poor posture after stroke may worsen static balance. The balance control through an upright posture may include kinesiology taping of the middle back.
Objectives: To investigated the effect of kinesiology taping of middle back on static balance in patients with stroke.
Design: A randomized controlled trial.
Methods: A total of 10 patients with stroke were divided into two groups. The experimental and control groups received kinesiology taping and placebo taping of the middle back, respectively. After 24 h, static balance (i.e., sway area and path length) was measured in closed eyes condition.
Results: The experimental group (kinesiology taping group) showed a significant decrease in sway area and path length after the intervention. In addition, kinesiology taping group showed a significant decrease in sway area and path length compared to the control group.
Conclusion: Kinesiology taping of the middle back can improve static balance in stroke patients.
Background: Exercise is necessary for the health of companion dogs. It is necessary to determine the relationship between height, weight, age and amount of exercise for the purpose of companion dog's health.
Objectives: A survey was conducted in this study to small-dog owners living in Yongin city, Gyeonggi-do about their canine healthcare awareness. Design: Questionnaire design.
Methods: The questionnaire was composed of exercise amount, type of exercise, and the necessity of exercise, general health condition, and environment. A total of 139 survey results were obtained. The average value of each item was analyzed and expressed in terms of frequency and percentage. Then, Pearson's correlation coefficients were used to find the relationship between these items.
Results: The weight and height were not shown to have a significant difference in the amount of exercise in the results. The weight had a weak positive correlation with “exercise time of canine per day”. The age had a weak negative correlation with “the number of canine exercise per week” and “frequency of canine exercise per day”, while it had a weak positive correlation with “selfassessment of canine lack of exercise”.
Conclusion: Based on this study, it is believed that in the future, various environments where dogs can exercise are believed to be necessary for the era of convergence.
Background: Incorrect postures of adolescents caused by the use of smart devices have been noted as a factor causing spinal diseases.
Objectives: To examine the effect of joint mobilization and stretching on Cobb’s angle and respiratory function in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS).
Design: Cluster-randomized controlled trial.
Methods: A total of 22 subjects with AIS were enrolled. They were allocated to two groups: the joint mobilization (n=11) and the stretching (n=11). All interventions were conducted for 30 minutes, three times a week for six weeks. Outcome measures were the Cobb’s angle and respiratory function. The Cobb’s angle and respiratory function measured using the X-ray and Micro- Quark.
Results: Joint mobilization group showed significant differences in Cobb’s angle and respiratory function, but stretching group showed significant differences Cobb’s angle. The differences in peak expiratory flow (PEF) between the two groups were significant.
Conclusion: This study proved that joint mobilization is a more effective intervention for AIS to improve Cobb’s angle and respiratory function, when compared to stretching.
2012년 3월부터 2012년 10월까지 광주시내 초·중·고 등학교 주변 어린이 식품안전보호구역내 분식점, 길거리음 식점 등에서 판매되고 있는 김밥, 떡볶이, 꼬치류, 오뎅, 튀김류 등 식사대용 및 간식용 어린이 기호식품 중 조리식품 124건에 대해서 탄수화물, 지방, 단백질 등 영양성분과 나트륨, 당함량 등을 검사하여 고열량·저영양 식품 해당 여부에 대해서 조사하였다. 식사대용 어린이 기호식품 35 건 중 토스트 12건이 모두 포화지방과 나트륨의 기준을 초과하여 고열량·저영양 식품에 해당되었고, 간식용 어린 이 기호식품 89건 중에서 튀김류 4건과 닭강정 5건이 열량기준을 초과하였고, 또한 슬러쉬 27건 중에서 20건이 당 함량을 초과한 것으로 나타나 총 29건이 고열량·저영양 식품에 해당되었다. 그러나 이번에 조사한 식품들은 슬러쉬를 제외하고는 모두 저영양 식품 판단의 한 요소인 단백질 함량이 높고, 튀김류 등은 식품의 특성상 지방함량이 많아서 열량이 높고, 모두 조리식품들이기 때문에 식사로 섭취하게 되는 식품과 마찬가지로 나트륨 함량이 높아서 고열량·저영양 식품으로 분류된 것으로 보인다. 따라서 고 열량·저영양 식품이라 하더라도 한두 번 섭취한다고 해서 문제가 생기는 것은 아니기 때문에 편식을 피하고 싱거운 맛에 익숙해지도록 하는 노력과 더불어 전체적으로 여러 유형의 식품들을 골고루 섭취하는 등, 올바른 식생활 습관이 어릴 때부터 형성되도록 소비자의 지속적인 노력이 필요할 것으로 생각된다.
