        Since maize (Zea mays L.) originated in central and south America, it requires warm climate conditions throughout its growing season. Growth halts when night-time temperatures drop below 10℃, and the plant may die if temperature reach -1.7℃. Thus, temperature should be maintained between 10 and 30℃ from seeding to maturity. The germination temperature for maize should be at least 8-11℃, whit an optimal range 32-34℃. Since temperature significantly affects the germination rate and period, it plays a crucial role in maize growth. In this study, we evaluated the quantity and feed value of 11 major varieties to determine those best suited for maize cultivation as feed in higher latitude, specifically in Democratic People’s of Republic of Korea, below 38 degrees north. A cultivation test was also conducted in Suwon in Republic of Korea, to assess adaptability in areas south of Mt. Suyang. Among the varieties tested, Shinhwangok2 reached silking the fastest, in 65 days, while Gwangpyeongok took the longest at 75 days. The stem length of all varieties exceeded 230 cm. Gwangpyeongok had the tallest stems, while Daanok and Shinhwangok2ho displayed the highest ear ratios. Dacheongok presented the highest values in both dry matter and TDN quantity, with 31,420 kg/ha and 21,66 kg/ha respectively. Pyeonggangok had the highest crude protein content at 8.0%. TDN (%) ranged from 57-68%, with Hwangdaok reaching up to 68%. Based on these findings, Dacheongok and Pyeonggangok appear to be the most suitable varieties for cultivation in terms of both quantity and feed value.

        옥수수의 내습성은 우리나라 옥수수 재배면적 확대와 자급률 향상을 위해 고려되어야 할 중요한 요소 중 하나이다. 본 연구는 내습성 옥수수 계통 개발을 위한 기초 연구로서, 토양의 표면침수조건에서 변화하는 옥수수 뿌리의 대사체를 분석하여 옥수수의 내습성 관련 생리 기작을 구명하고자 수행되었다. 우리나라 옥수수 유전자원(Zea mays L.)과 야생종 옥수수(Zea mays spp. parviglumis) 간 교배를 통하여 내습성이 향상된 계통을 개발했고, 그 중 19KT-32P를 유묘단계(V3)에 7일 동안 침수시킨 후 뿌리에서 발현되는 대사체를 탐색하고 분석하였다. 총 180개 대사체가 확인되었 고, 그 중에서 ℽ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), putrescine, citrulline, Gly, Ala 등 8개 대사체는 각각 2.5배 이상 발현이 증가 또는 감소하였다. 확인된 대사체는 식물에서 pH, 삼투압, K+/Ca++ 및 ATPase 활성을 조절하는 비생물적 스트레스와 관련이 있었다. 특히 가장 발현이 높은 GABA는 glutamate decarboxylase (GAD) 효소에 의해 축적되며, 본연구에서 분석한 결과 10개의 유전자형이 확인되었다. 특히 첫 번째 엑손은 매우 보존적이었지만, 두번째 엑손부터 많은 SNP 다형성이 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 앞으로 내습성 옥수수 선발을 위한 분자마커로 활용되어 육종 효율을 높이는 좋은 수단으로 이용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

        A barley(Hordeum vulgare L.) cultivar 'Youjin' with hooded spike type having good silage quality was developed at National Institute of Crop Science, RDA in 2016. ‘Youjin’ showed both high yielding and cold resistance through the preliminary and advanced yield trials(PYT, AYT) from 2012 to 2013. We conducted regional yield trials(RYT) of ‘Youjin’ in six locations around Korea for three years from 2014 to 2016. It had erect plant type, growth habit of II, the green leaf and hooded awn type. In the paddy field its heading date was April 24 and the maturing date was May 25. Plant height was 99 cm and the number of spikes per m2 was 696. It has high rate of leaf blades, resistance to BaYMV(Barley Yellow Mosiac Virus) and good winter hardiness. The average dry matter of Youjin was about 17.2 MT ha-1 in the field. And feed quality of ‘Youjin’ was 10.6% of crude protein content, 24.8% of ADF(Acid Detergent Fiber), 43.5 % of NDF(Neutral Detergent Fiber), 69.1% of TDN(Total Digestible Nutrients). And also ‘Youjin’ had grade I of silage quality.

        This study aimed to determine the optimal harvesting time for wheat to make grain silage, in Honam region of Korea. We harvested wheat grain every third day from 30 to 42 days after heading (DAH). The moisture content decreased from 61.6% at 30 DAH to 42.8% at 42 DAH. Yield of wheat grain significantly increased from 30 to 42 DAH (p< 0.05). Yield at 39 DAH (3.46T/ha) was not significantly different from that at 42 DAH (p< 0.05). With respect to the feed value of wheat grain silage, the amount of crude protein, crude fiber, and crude ash was different by harvesting time (p< 0.05). However, the amount of total digestible nutrients (TDN) from 30 and 42 DAH was not significantly different. The pH of wheat grain silage from 30 to 42 DAH was between 3.8 and 4.5 and it was stable until 39 DAH (p< 0.05). The lactic acid content of wheat grain silage from 30 to 42 DAH decreased from 3.08% to 1.10%. With respect to moisture content, yield, feed value, and fermentation, the optimal harvesting time for wheat grain silage was 39 DAH.

        This study was conducted to investigate the feed value and silage quality according to storage period and film layers in whole crop oat silage. The crude protein content was increased in all silage during the storage periods compared to those before silage, under prolonged storage period slightly and the number of film layers of silage, six layer were higher than four layers, but no significant. NDF and ADF contents were also increased in all silage of storage duration compared to those before silage, but they was similar level between storage duration and number of film layers. TDN content was decreased of the storage duration. However, it was similar under the storage duration and the number of film layers. The pH value was decreased during prolonged storage period and six layers was lower than four layers depending on the film layers. In the organic acid contents, lactic acid and acetic acid were increased under the prolonged storage duration, and butyric acid was higher significantly(p<0.05), six layers of the film were showed higher lactic acid and lower butyric acid(p<0.05). Therefore, oat silage should be used within 6 months it was when treated with 4 layers, if considering the long-term storage, it is desirable to treat it with 6 layers or more.

        DNA-based markers have been used in various fields like molecular biology and crop breeding program. DNA marker is able to be used for protection of genetic resource and quantification of specific cultivar. Eleven DNA markers have been developed for Korean wheat cultivar identification in 2013-2014. 27 of 32 wheat cultivars were distinguished by 11 DNA markers. In this study, we developed four DNA markers, KWSM0012, KWSM0013, KWSM0014 and KWSM0015, derived from SSR and SNP analysis. Consequently, 32 Korean wheat cultivars were identified by 15 DNA markers. We are convinced that these new DNA markers are very useful for wheat varieties DNA fingerprinting and are able to be applied to marker-assisted selection in wheat breeding program in Korea.

        This experiment was conducted to obtain information of feed value and fermentative quality of wheat cultivar, ‘Taejoong’ to confirm availability as a whole crop silage. As a result, the heading date of ‘Teajoong’ is April 27, and plant height is longer than whole crop barley, ‘Youngyang’ or whole crop wheat, ‘Cheongwoo’, spike length are also large, fresh and dry matter yield are also high. In case of feed value, ‘Taejoong’ had higher crude protein content than whole crop barley, ‘Youngyang’ or whole crop wheat, ‘Cheongwoo’, lower NDF and ADF contents, and significantly higher digestible nutrient contents(p<0.05). In case of fermentation qulity, pH of ‘Taejoong’ was 4.2, and lactic acid content was lower than ‘Cheongwoo’ silage and significantly higher than ‘Youngyang’ silage(p<0.05). Acetic acid content was significantly lower than ‘Youngyang’ and ‘Cheongwoo’ silage(p<0.01), butyric acid content was significantly lower than that of ‘Youngyang’ silage (p<0.05). The final Flieg's score showed that ‘Taejoong’ silage was the best. Also income of ‘Taejoong’ improved than ‘Youngyang’ or ‘Cheongwoo’. Therefore, ‘Taejoong’ is considered sufficiently available as whole crop for forage.

        이 연구는 비닐겹수 및 저장기간 따른 청보리 사일리지 의 사료가치 및 사일리지 품질특성을 구명하고자 수행하였 다. 조단백질 함량은 저장기간 모두 사일리지 제조 전에 비해 높아지는 경향을 보였고, 저장기간이 길어질수록 약 간 높은 값을 보였지만 통계적인 유의성은 없었다. 비닐겹 수에 따라서는 6겹 처리한 처리구가 4겹보다 높은 경향이 었다. NDF와 ADF 함량은 저장기간 모두 사일리지 제조 전보다 높은 경향을 보였고(p<0.05), 저장기간에 따라서는 비슷한 값을 나타냈다. 비닐 겹수에 따라서는 6겹 처리한 처리구가 4겹보다 더 높은 값을 나타냈다. TDN 함량은 저 장기간 모두 사일리지 제조 전보다 낮은 경향을 보였고, 저장기간에 따라서는 비슷한 값을 보였다. 비닐겹수에 따 라서는 6겹에서 다소 낮은 값을 보였다. pH는 저장기간이 길어짐에 따라 낮아지는 경향을 보였고, 비닐겹수에 따라 서는 6겹에서 4겹보다 낮은 값을 보였다. 유기산 함량에서 는 저장기간이 길어짐에 따라 젖산함량은 약간 증가하는 경향을 보였고, 초산함량은 낮아지는 경향을 보였으며 낙 산함량은 유의적으로 증가하는 경향을 보였다(p<0.05). 비 닐겹수에 따라서는 6겹에서 4겹보다 높은 젖산함량과 낮은 낙산함량을 보였다(p<0.05). 따라서 청보리 사일리지는 장 기저장을 할 경우에는 6겹으로 하는 것이 유리하고, 4겹으 로 처리했을 경우 6개월 안에 사용하는 것이 유리하다고 판단된다.

        We developed new two-rowed covered barley ‘Gwangmaeg’ superior to ‘Hopum’ that has been widely cultivated in Korea for using beer-materials. ‘Gwanngmaeg’ was related from the line named as ‘Iksan149’ in 2010 after yield trials test in conducted for three years from 2008. And then it was registered to ‘Plant protection right, No. 5847’ in 2016 after field experiment by KSVS(Korea Seed & Variety Service). ‘Gwangmaeg’ has distinct characteristics in winter type (IV) and mid-tall culm length which makes reduce damage by off-season heading and lodging comparing to those of ‘Hopum’. ‘Gwangmaeg’ have characteristics of cold tolerance and disease resistance to BaYMV(Barley yellow mosaic virus) and Net blotch(Pyrenophora teres). Yield of ‘Gwangmaeg’ was about 611kg/10a and 524kg/10a in upland and paddy field condition, respectively, which higher 2-4% than ‘Hopum’, however, it has no significant difference. In quality examination for beer usage, ‘Gwangmaeg’ has lager grain and higher assortment ratio than those of ‘Hopum’. In malt quality, ‘Gwangmaeg’ showed higher and better quality in malt extract rate and diastatic power than those of ‘Hopum’. ‘Gwangmaeg’ would be suitable for the area above –4℃ of daily minimum temperature in January in Korean peninsula.

        Eleven RAPD primers were assessed to analyze genetic diversity of Korean wheat varieties and to develop DNA marker for cultivar identification. The average of the number of polymorphic bands was 5.2 and PIC values showed 0.48, respectively. Ten major clades were presented by phylogenetic analysis. Three cultivars containing Uri, Hanbeak and Jonong were distinct from the others in the phylogenetic dendrogram. Seven cultivar-specific fragments were detected from 11 RAPD fingerprinting among 35 wheat cultivars and they were sequenced. Four Korean wheat cultivars, Eunpa, Jopoom, Yeonbaek and Jeokjoong, were identified newly by four markers, 84, 173, 174 and KWSM011. We convince that these new DNA markers are useful for cultivar fingerprinting and are applied to marker-assisted selection in wheat breeding program.

        Wheat is one of major crop and wheat flour is used to various end-use products such as bread, cookies and noodles due to its unique characteristic of it as elasticity and viscosity. Wheat consumption has been generally increasing in not only US and Europe but also Korea. Nevertheless, gluten proteins in wheat endosperm are cause of allergy by food ingestion. Hence, studies on the allergy have been conducting and have been attracting public attention. Herein, we report studies on research trend of the issue with research papers over the last decade for suggestion of future research direction. Since 2012, studies on allergy of gluten proteins have been dramatically increased based on the number of published papers related to the issue. As results of research activities by country, the Europe accounted for 60% corresponding to the number of papers. Next US (13%), Japan (9%), China (5%), and Korea (2%) came. In Korea, studies on allergy of gluten protein are less studied. In the field of studying of gluten allergy, there are two major technologies as preclinical technology and genome research accounted for 58% and 26%, respectively. In Korea, the study on glutenin proteins which is closely related to wheat allergy is actively performed. Therefore, it can be expected that research will be become more active.

        농촌진흥청 국립식량과학원에서는 용도별 품종의 다양화를 위해 답리작 적응 과자용 밀 품종 ‘고소’를 개발하였다. 고소밀은 1998년도에 연질인 고분밀을 모본으로 하고, 숙기가 빠른 올밀을 부본으로 인공교배하여 SW98148 조합을 육성하였다. 경기도 연천에서 집단재배 후 계통을 전개하여 초형과 수형이 양호하며 내한성이 강한 계통인 SW98148-YB-9-2-4-1-3-1을 2006년부터 2개년간 생산력 검정을 거쳐 ‘익산 320호’로 계통명을 부여하였다. 그 후 2008년부터 3개년 동안 지역적응시험을 실시한 결과 숙기가 빠르며 수량성이 높고, 과자적성이 우수하여 2010년 농작물 직무육성 신품종심의회에서 ‘고소’로 명명하였다. 고소밀의 파성은 Ⅱ형으로 춘파형이고, 엽색은 녹색이며 이삭은 방추형이고, 종자는 중간 크기로 적색이다. 출수기와 성숙기는 밭상태 조건에서 각각 4월 28일과 6월 7일, 논상태에서는 각각 4월 25일과 6월 4일로 비슷하다. 고소밀의 리터중(799 g/L)과 천립중(42.5 g) 은 금강밀(804 g/L과 46.7 g)보다 낮고, 내한성(4.4%)과 수발아(4.0%) 저항성이 강하고, 내도복성이 높다. 고소밀의 제분율(63.77%), 단백질(9.8%), 침전가(30.0 ml)과 글루텐(7.2%) 함량은 금강밀(73.6%, 12.6%, 50.0 ml과 10.8%)보다 낮고, 과자적성이 우수하였다. ‘고소밀’의 HMW-GS 조성은 Glu-A1에서 2*, Glu-B1에서 7+8을 나타내 금강밀과 조성이 같았으나, Glu-D1에서 2.2+12가 발현되었다. GBSS 조성은 금강밀과 같은 야생형이고, Pinb-D1은 야생형으로 금강밀과 다른 특성을 나타냈다. 지역적응시험에서 밭상태 수량은 657 kg/10a, 논상태 수량은 561 kg/10a로 금강밀보다 21%와 7% 증수하였다.

        High temperature is one of major environmental stress. Heat tolerance managing is difficult through the phenotypic selection, so marker assistant selection (MAS) using molecular markers like as RAPD, SSR etc. was tried to select useful traits for heat tolerance. Fourteen SSR markers reported by previous research were selected for this research. We tried to evaluate 14 SSR markers for MAS using 31 useful wheat resources including 24 crossing line from Turkey, six Korean wheat cultivars and Chinese spring. The average of the number of alleles and PIC values in this study were 6.14 and 0.64, respectively. Two major clades and four sub clades were grouped by phylogenetic tree using UPGMA. Four Korean wheat cultivars were distinct from other Turkey resources in the phylogenetic dendrogram. From the results, we expected that these markers were able to adapt to screening wheat genotyping for heat tolerance.

        국내 밀 수량성 향상을 위해 이삭 길이가 길고 1수립수가 많은 장수형 계통의 품질과 이들 특성과 관련된 표지인자에 대한 평가를 수행하였다. 장수형 164계통의 회분, 단백질, 침전가, 습부율, 밀가루 입자 크기와 밀가루 색택 밝기의 평균은 금강밀보다 회분과 단백질함량이 높으며 습부율은 높고, 밀가루 밝기와 입자 크기는 비슷하였으나 침전가는 낮게 나타났다. 단백질의 질적 특성에서 단백질함량은 침전가, 습부율, 밀가루 입자 크기와 고도의 정의 상관을 보였고, 밀가루의 밝기와는 부의 상관을 나타냈다. 품질특성 관련 표지인자를 평가한 결과, 장수형 164계통은 모두 Glu-A3c, Wx-A1a, Wx-B1a, Wx-D1a의 유전자형을 나타내 금강밀과 동일하였다. 장수형 계통은 주로 Glu-A1c, Glu-B1c, Glu-D1a, Glu-B3g, Pina-D1b와 Pinb-D1b의 유전자형이 많았다. Glu-A1b과 Glu-B1b 유전자형은 단백질함량이 많고, 습부율이 높은 특성을 나타냈다. Glu-D1d, Glu-B3h과 Pinb-D1b 유전자형은 다른 유전자형에 비해 회분과 단백질함량이 많으며, 침전가와 습부율이 높고, 밀가루 입자가 크고, 밀가루의 색이 어두운 특성을 보였다. 이러한 결과를 통해서 장수형 계통은 수량성 증대를 위해 필요하고, 향후 용도별 품질 우수 자원의 특성을 집적하여 용도별 다수성 밀 품종개발을 위한 자원으로 활용하고자 한다.

        국내 밀의 수량 증진을 위해 이삭 길이가 길고 1수립수가 많은 장수형 164계통(F8)을 육성하였고, 본 연구에서는 이들 계통의 주요 농업형질과 이들 특성과 관련 있는 표지인자에 대한 평가를 수행하였다. 장수형 계통은 모본인 금강밀과 비교했을 때, 단위면적당 수수와 리터중은 적고, 파종 후 출수까지 일수가 길었고, 간장, 수장, 1수립수와 단위면적당 생산량은 높게 나타났다. 농업 특성 관련 표지인자를 평가한 결과, 장수형 계통은 Rht-B1, Rht-D1, Vrn-B1, Ppd-A1, Ppd-B1 유전자 좌에서는 같은 유전자를 지닌 것으로 나타났다. 장수형 계통 중 Vrn-D1를 지닌 계통은 Vrn-D1a를 지닌 계통에 비하여 출수에 걸리는 시간이 길었지만, 이삭길이와 1수립수가 많은 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 Vrn-B1 유전자 변이는 장수형 계통의 농업형질의 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 장수형은 Ppd-D1유전자 변이에 따른 간장이나 이삭 길이는 차이가 없었지만, 출수 일수와 수수는 Ppd-D1b를 지닌 계통이 많았지만, 1수립수, 천립중, 리터중과 수량은 Ppd-D1a를 지닌 계통이 높았다. 종실 특성을 나타내는 표지인자 변이는 출수 일수, 간장, 수장, 분얼이나 1수립수 및 수량에는 영향을 주지 않았지만 TaSus2-2B유전자의 Hap-L타입, TaGW2유전자의 Hap-6A-G타입과 TaCwi-A1a 가 각각의 대립 유전자형보다 천립중이 높게 나타났다. 향후 재배환경이 장수형의 농업형질 및 품질에 미치는 영향에 대한 평가가 필요하고, 만숙과 분얼이 적은 장수형의 단점을 보완하기 위한 지속적인 연구가 필요하다.

The average of the number of alleles and PIC values in this study were 6.14 and 0.63, respectively. Two major clades and six sub clades were grouped by phylogenetic tree using UPGMA program. Six Korean wheat cultivars were distinct from other Turkey resources in the phylogenetic dendrogram. From the results, we expected that these markers were able to adapt to screening wheat genotyping for heat tolerance.

        “Jojoong”, a winter wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) cultivar was developed by the National Institute of Crop Science, RDA. It was derived from the cross “Suwon272/Olgeuru//Keumkang/Suwon252” during 2002. “Jojoong” was evaluated as “Iksan360” in advance yield trial test in 2011. It was tested in the regional yield trial test between 2012 and 2014. “Jojoong” is an awned, semi-dwarf and hard winter wheat, similar to “Keumkang” (check cultivar). The heading and maturing date of “Jojoong” were earlier to “Keumkang”. “Jojoong” had lower test weight (799 g/L) and 1,000-grain weigh (35.6g) than “Keumkang” (816 g/L and 45.5g, respectively). “Jojoong” showed resistance to winter hardiness and pre-harvest sprouting, which lower withering rate on the high ridge (10.5%) and rate of pre-harvest sprouting (10.5%) than “Keumkang” (31.7 and 21.4%, respectively). “Jojoong” showed similar protein content (12.5%), SDS-sedimentation volume (43.5ml) and gluten content (8.6%) to “Keumkang” (12.9%, 58.5ml and 8.5%, respectively). It showed higher lightness (93.17) in flour color than “Keumkang” (91.95, respectively). “Jojoong” showed higher lightness (81.50) of noodle dough sheet than “Keumkang” (80.95). “Jojoong” exhibited similar hardness (3.84N) and higher springiness and cohesiveness of cooked noodles (0.94 and 0.66) compared to “Keumkang” (3.88N, 0.90, and 0.62, respectively). Average yield of “Jojoong” in the regional adaptation yield trial test was 5.09 MT/ha in upland and 5.35 MT/ha in paddy field, which was 9% and 8% higher than those of “Keumkang” (4.67 MT/ha and 4.92 MT/ha, respectively).

        Fusarium head blight (FHB) is a major disease problem on wheat and barley around the world. F. graminearum produces trichothecenes mycotoxins such as nivalenol (NIV), deoxynivalenol (DON), and zearalenone (ZEA). The objectives of this study were to survey the natural occurrence of FHB and mycotoxins of 32 Korean wheat cultivars grown in 2011-2012 seasons at the National institute of crop science, Iksan, Korea. There was great deal of rainfall and high humidity during flowering time in May 2011. FHB incidence was counted by Fusarium infected spikes per square meter. The samples of 32 wheat cultivar were collected. The grain and flour samples were to analysis for DON and NIV by gas chromatography and ZEA by high performance liquid chromatography. The result showed that the average of FHB incidence(%) per square meter in 2011 and 2012 were 4.2%, 0.5% respectively. There were significant cultivar differences for FHB incidence ranged from 0% to 24% in 2011. All of 32 wheat cultivars contained 9-2088 ng/g for NIV and ten wheat cultivars contained 5.7-8.5 ng/g for ZEA. In addition, DON concentration of Tapdong, Shinmichal1, and Hanbaek were 217, 35 and 683 ng/g respectively. However, the grain and flour sample harvested in 2012 showed that lower FHB incidence and NIV concentration. These results showed that the 32 wheat cultivars harvested in 2011 were heavily contaminated with Fusarium mycotoxins (NIV, DON, ZEA).

        Amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) is one of molecular marker technique based on DNA and is extremely useful in detection of high polymorphism between closely related genotypes like Korean wheat cultivars. Six Korean wheat cultivar specific marker sets have been developed from inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) analysis and we can identify the 13 Koran wheat cultivars form other cultivars using six that (Son et al., 2013). We used four combinations of primer sets in our AFLP analysis for developing additional cultivar specific markers in Korean wheat. Twenty-one of the AFLP bands were isolated from ACG/M-CAC primer combination and 19 bands were isolated from E-AGC/M-CTG primer combination, respectively. We used forty bands to design sequence characterized amplified region (SCAR) primer pairs for Korean wheat cultivar identification. Only one of 40 amplified primer pairs, C2, were able to use for wheat cultivar identification. The DNA band of 215bp length was amplified by C2 primer pairs in ten cultivars, Eunpa, Olgeuru, Gobun, Saeol, Milsung, Sinmichal, Jokyung, Sugang, Goso, and Joah. Then C2 primer was applied to these primer sets as newly SCAR marker, six cultivars are identifying from other cultivars, additionally. Finally, to use the C2 and six primer sets, 19 Korean wheat cultivars are identified.

        Stem rust of wheat caused by Puccinia graminis f. sp. Tritici is historically one of the most important diseases of crops worldwide. The objective of this study was to screen the growth habits and yield of wheat accessions in Korea winter condition. We collected ninety stem rust resistant germplasms from USDA-Grain and planted for the characteristics of growth and yield in 2013. We measured the growth characteristics such as the plant type, leaf color, heading date, stem length, spike length, awn length, number of spikelet, number of tiller, and 1,000 kernel weight (g). Early maturity is most important wheat breeding target in double cropping system such as Korea. Heading dates of ninety cultivars ranged from May 17 to June 7. The Keumkang control cultivar headed on May 23. Heading dates of seventeen accessions had as early as Keumkang control (May 23). The numbers of semi-erect and intermediate type for growth habit were 45 and 33 respectively. The 1000 kernel weights were also measured. Mean 1000 kernel weights ranged from 16.7g (Webster) to 41.8g (123 A1C2). The average of stem length was 100.2cm and Keumkang was 58.4cm. These results showed that A4849-60P-7P-1P (Chile), MG 31492 (Ethiopia), 1338.F.6.C.3.B (Kenya), 1203 A1C2 (Kenya), and II-90-20/3-1R-1M- 3R (Mexico) were best lines for agronomic characteristic such as early heading date and grain yield
