        When GA4 was applied to heading stage, it was examined to understand the change of plant hormones and starch during grain filling and ripening. Exogenous gibberellin caused a dramatic decrease in endogenous ABA content. Endogenous GA4 content in both superior and inferior part was more promoted in GA4-treated rice grain than in the control. GA1 content of an inferior part was not detected in the control and GA4-treated rice otherwise GA4 was detected in all grain parts. Ripened grain rate in GA4-treated rice grain was lower than that of the control plant. Amylopectin from GA4-treated grain contained more very short chains with degree of polymerization (DP) between 4 and 8 than amylopectin from the control plant. It suggests strongly that fine structure of rice endosperm may be changed by exogenously applied GA4 in rice plants.

        The experiment fields consisted of five plots as follows; 2, 4, and 8 tonsㆍha⁻¹ citrus skin in combination with starch sludge and pig manure mixing compost (CSSP), 4 tonㆍha⁻¹ fermented pig manure compost (FPMC) treated plot, and untreated control. Plant height and stem diameter were significantly increased by CSSP. Most of all, average tuber weight and tuber yield per plant were significantly increased in 4 and 8 tonsㆍha⁻¹ CSSP plots compared to the other plots. Marketable tuber (>50 g fresh weight) yield were superior in order of 4 and 8 tonsㆍha⁻¹ CSSP plot, 4 tonsㆍha⁻¹ FPMC plot, and 2 tonsㆍha⁻¹ CSSP plot.

        기름골의 이용 가능성을 규명하고자 기름골의 일반성분 및 기름골 전분의 이화학적 특성을 조사하였다. 기름골의 수분함량은 5.4%, 조지방, 조단백질 함량은 각각 24.2, 7.2%로 비교적 많은 양의 지방을 함유하고 있었다. 전분특성과 관련하여 먼저 알카리 침지법에 의해서 전분을 분리하였다. 기름골 전분의 일반성분 결과 전분의 수분함량은 10.10%, 조지방, 조단백질 함량은 각각 0.41, 0.31%였다. 기름골 전분의 아밀로오스 함량은 41.6

        Higher level of KCl application stimulated both leaf area index and leaf area duration in all cassava varieties, while the leaf and tuber number of the bitter varieties (high cyanide-level varieties) decreased in proportion to the level of KCl application. The root/shoot (R/S) ratio and harvest index (HI) were negatively related with the level of KCl application in all cassava varieties. The bitter varieties obtained the lowest R/S ratio at the level of 100 - 150 kg KCl ha-1 , while the sweet varieties (low cyanide-level varieties) acquired the highest values at the level of 50 - 150 kg KCl ha-1 . Also, the sweet varieties showed the lowest HI at the level of 250 kg KCl ha-1 , but the bitter varieties at the level of 150 kg KCl ha-1 . At 6 - 8 months after planting, the sweet varieties tended to obtain higher starch content of roots (tubers) at the level of 50 - 150 kg KCl ha-1 , while the bitter varieties at the level of 150 - 250 kg KCl ha-1 . Relatively lower level of 50 - 150 kg KCl ha-1 was more appropriate for decreasing hydrocyanic acid (HCN) content of roots (tubers) in the sweet varieties at the harvest time, and the level of 250 kg KCl ha-1 was adequate to decrease not only HCN content of leaves but also that of roots (tubers) in the bitter varieties during the growing period. To obtain higher yield and starch content of tubers, and lower HCN content of roots (tubers), it was recommended that the sweet varieties are applied with the level of 50 - 100 kg KCl ha-1 and the bitter varieties with the level of 150 - 200 kg KCl ha-1 , respectively, in Latosol soils of Bogor areas, West Java.

        벼 품종의 직파적응성을 평가하기 위하여 입모율이 높은 ASD1 품종과 비교적 낮은 IR72품종에 대한 종자의 발아기간 중 공기와 질소 충진상태에 따른 sugar와 starch 함량의 변화를 검토하였다. 1. 공기 충진상태와 질소 충진상태에서 직파적응성이 높은 ASD1 품종은 비교적 낮은 IR72 품종보다 발아기간 중 starch 함량이 높았으며 두 품종간 starch 감소 패턴이 상이하였다. 2. 공기 충진상태와 질소 충진상태에서 직파적응성이 높은 ASD1 품종은 비교적 낮은 IR72 품종보다 발아기간 중 sugar 함량이 높았으며 두 품종간 sugar 증가 패턴은 같은 경향이었다. 3. ASD1 품종은 IR72 품종보다 공기와 질소를 계속 충진하거나 주기적으로 주입 또는 질소 충진후 공기를 보충하는 조건 등의 어떠한 충진조건에서도 발아경과에 따른 sugar 함량이 높았다.

        Starch was crosslinked with epichlorohydrin. Crosslinked starch-filled waterborne acrylate (CSWAC) films were prepared by blending this crosslinked starch with waterborne acrylate. The thermal and mechanical properties of these films were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), tensile strength and elongation test. The biodegradability was also studied by determination of reduced sugar products after enzymatic hydrolysis and the surface morphology was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The CSWAC film showed significantly higher tensile strength and elongation than those of starch-filled waterbonre acrylate (SWAC). The biodegradability of this film was higher than that of native starch-filled acrylate film, and was increased by the addition of crosslinked starch to the acrylate film.

        The starch-filled waterborne acrylate (SWAC) films were prepared. The structures and properties of SWAC films were investigated by infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and strength test. The biodegradability of SWAC film was also studied by determination of reduced sugar products after enzymatic hydrolysis. The surface morphology of the SWAC film was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that the tensile strength and elongation of SWAC film decreased with the increase of starch content. The SWAC film showed significantly higher water absorbed content than waterbonre acrylate film. The biodegradability of SWAC film increased as the content of starch increased. The biodegradation of starch in SWAC film by α-amylase was about 77% of that of pure starch.

        The biodegradability of vinyl acetate acrylate resin and corn starch blend was studied by determination of the reduced sugars produced after enzymatic hydrolysis. The starch hydrolysis reaction by α-amylase was achieved within 5 minutes. Optimal ranges of temperature and pH for the starch hydrolysis by α-amylase were around 80 oC and 6.5-7.2, respectively. The biodegradability of the starch-filled acrylate films increased as the content of starch increased. The biodegradation of starch in the starch-filled acrylate film by α-amylase was about 48.6% of that of pure starch. This value of biodegradable starch-filled acrylate film gave a good result with enzymatic shortcut test. The surface morphologies of the starch-filled acrylate film after enzymatic hydrolysis were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
