        Two lepidopteran species, Matsumuraeses phaseoli (Matsumura) and Maruca vitrata (syn. M. testulalis) (Fabricius) were reared on artificial diets, and analyzed in their developmental characteristics. Photoperiod was supplied with 16L/8D for M. phaseoli and with 13L/11D for M. vitrata, respectively. Both species passed five larval instars with discrete sizes of head capsule width. In a constant environment (25℃ and 65%RH), the developmental period of M. phaseoli egg, larva and pupa was 3.9, ca. 16.0 and 8.9 days, respectively, and over 80% of M. phaseoli larvae could develop into pupae, most of which emerged into adults. Newly laid eggs could be stored at 5℃ for 15 days with over 50% hatchability. Similar developmental traits were shown in M. vitrata. However, a low temperature preservation was not applicable to M vitrata eggs.

        Novolac is widely used as the primary solid component of most photoresists in semiconductor and microelectronic devices. In this study, novolac resins were prepared by condensation of 35% formaldehyde with phenolic compounds such as m-/p-cresol, 2,5-dimethylphenol and bisphenol A in the presence of oxalic acid as catalyst. The average molecular weight (Mw) of these novolac resins has been varied on the changing of mixing ratio of m-/p-cresol/2,5-dimethylphenol/bisphenol A or formaldehyde/phenolic compound. Also, thermal properties of novolac were observed by TGA.

        Three phosphorus functional groups were introduced in one structural unit of polymer backbone to enhance the flame retardancy of PU coatings. In the first step, we synthesized tetramethylene bis(orthophosphate) (TBOP) that contained two phosphorus functional groups in one structural unit. In the next step, we synthesized modified polyesters (ATBTP-10C, -20C, -30C) that contained triphosphorus group using TBOP, 1,4-butanediol, trimethylolpropane, adipic acid, and another functional monomer, phenylphosphonic acid (PPA). The amount of PPA in ATBTPs was adjusted from 10 wt% to 30 wt%. The structure and characteristics of ATBTPs were examined using FT-IR, NMR, GPC, and TGA analysis. From the thermo-behavior test of diphosphorus modified polyester (ATBT) and ATBTPs, the afterglow of ATBT, ATBTP-10C, ATBTP-20C, and ATBTP-30C were 24.7, 27.1, 29.0, and 31.7%, respectively. It was found from this result that the afterglow increased with the amount of PPA component.

        Based on the Benzoflex (Vesicol Chemical Co.) as PVC plasticizer substituents for Di-n-octyl phthalate (DOP), a series of new aromatic carboxylic acid ester compounds were designed as plasticizers, synthesized, and screened for the endocrine disrupting activity. 2-Hydroxybenzoic acid (1) and 2-methoxybenzoic acid (2) as the commercially available starting materials were reacted with diethylene glycol (3) in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid using Dean-Stark column to give diethylene glycol di-(2-hydroxy)benzoate (4, KH01) and diethylene glycol di-(2-methoxy)benzoate (5, KH02), respectively. And diethylene glycol di-(3-pyridinyl) ester (7, KH03) and dipropylene glycol di-(3-pyridinyl) ester (9, KH04) were obtained in high yields by treatment of nicotinoyl chloride (6) with diethylene glycol (3) and dipropylene glycol (8) in the presence of triethylamine as a base. To determine the estrogenic disrupting effect of new synthetic phthalate analogues, E-screen assay method was used. Of these compounds, 4 (KH01) was found to be compound without endocrine disrupting effect.

        2-Chlorobenzoyl hydrazine refluxed with benzoyl isothiocyanate and phenyl isothiocyanate in ethanol for 3 hours to give benzamide derivative (1) and anilinederivative (2) on yield of 71%and 95%, respectively. Benzamide derivative (1) reacted with ethanolic sodium hydroxide on reflux to afford cyclization product (3), followed by general substitution reaction of two steps to give acetamide (5), and derivatived acetamides 7a-7k, while aniline derivative (2) reacted with ethanolic sodium hydroxide on reflux to afford another cyclization product (4). Thiol (4) reacted with N-phenyl chloroacetamide in the presence of potassim carbonate to give acetamide derivative (6). Compounds 1-7kwere evaluated for their growth inhibition against five cancer cell lines, including human lung carcinoma (A-549), human prostate cancer (DU145), human colon adenocarcinoma (HT-29), human malignant melanoma (SK-MEL-2) and human ovary malignant ascites (SK-OV-3) with sulforhodamine B (SRB) assay. All compounds (1-7k) showed low inhibition activities under 50% on 100M concentration.

        Suzuki coupling reaction으로 poly(10-hexylphenothiazine-3,7-diyl)(PT)을 합성하였고, Heck coupling reaction으로 poly(10-hexylphenothiazine-3,7-divinyl)(PTV)와 poly(10-hexyl-10H-phenothiazine-(2,5-bis(decyloxy)-1,4-phenylene-vinylene))(PTPPV)를 각각 중합하였다. 합성한 중합체의 전기적, 광학적 특성은 UV-vis spectra, PL spectra 및 cyclic voltammetry 측정을 통해 확인하였다. 흡수 스펙트라 측정 결과, 공중합체의 π-π* 전이가 관찰되었으며 thin film에서의 PT의 흡수 극대치는 285nm, PTV의 경우에는 309nm, PTPPV의 경우에는 443nm에서 나타났다. 박막계의 PT는 흡수 극대파장으로 여기하였을 때, 477nm에서 발광극대치를 나타내었고, PTV는 523nm, PTPPV는 556nm인 green 영역의 발광이 관측되었다. Cyclic voltammetry 측정으로부터 PTPPV는 가장 작은 band gap을 가지는 것으로 나타났으며, PT에 비해 LUMO 준위가 낮게 관측되어 음극으로부터 전자 주입이 가장 쉽게 일어나는 것으로 나타났다.

        최근 지진하중에 대한관심이 높아져 가는 가운데 내진설계가 되어 있지 않은 기존 교량의 내진성능 향상 및 신설될 교량의 구조적 기능성과 안전성을 증대시키기 위한 방안으로 희생부재형 에너지소산장치(Energy-Dissipating Sacrificial Device, EDSD)가 개발되었다. 본 연구에서는 제안된 장치가 내진성능 향상을 위한 기법으로 실제 교량에 적용될 수 있도록 실험을 통해 EDSD의 성능 및 안정성을 검토하였다. 유사동적실험 결과, EDSD는 지진하중 시 양호한 에너지 소산능력을 발휘할 것으로 예상되며 충분한 소성거동을 통해 교량의 주거더에는 손상을 거의 주지 않으며 주부재간의 연결부 또한 안전함을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 강합성 플레이트 거더교를 대상으로 EDSD를 적용하고 교각의 에너지, 수평력 및 상 하부 구조간의 상대변위 등의 지진응답특성을 분석한 결과, EDSD는 지진력을 효과적으로 감소 및 분산시키고 상 하부 구조간의 상대변위를 상당히 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, EDSD는 설계 지진하중 또는 그 이상의 지진하중 하에서 특별한 유지관리 없이 그 기능을 발휘할 수 있을 것으로 예상되며 우리나라와 같이 지진이 빈번히 발생하지 않는 지역에서 기능적 경제적 효과를 기대할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

        본 논문에서는 볼트로 체결된 강재 조립 합성보의 휨거동에 대한 유한요소해석을 통하여 휨거동 특성을 분석하였다. 두개의 강재보가 볼트로 체결되어 횡하중을 받을 때 발생하는 볼트의 합성효과, 강판사이의 마찰특성을 고려하였다. 체결에 사용된 볼트의 갯수 및 마찰계수의 변화에 따른 변위, 휨응력 그리고 전단응력을 쉘 요소를 사용한 유한요소해석에 의해 계산하였다. 이런 결과들은 완전 비합성보, 부분 합성보와 완전 합성보의 해석치와 비교되었다. 해석결과 합성보의 거동은 강재의 마찰보다 볼트의 갯수로 표현되는 합성률에 크게 영향을 받았다. 합성률이 에 도달할 때 합성보의 거동은 완전 합성보와 유사함을 보였다.

        To prepare weather-resistant silicone/acrylic resin coatings for an architectural purpose, tetrapolymers were synthesized by a radical polymerization. 3-Methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTS) as a silicone monomer and n-butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, and n-butyl methacrylate as acrylic monomers were used. The compositions of monomers were adjusted to fix the glass transition temperature of acrylic polymer for 20℃. The composition of MPTS in the synthesized polymer were varied from 10 wt% to 30 wt%. On the basis of synthesized resin amber paints were prepared and their physical properties and effects for weatherability were examined. The presence of MPTS in silicone/acrylic resins generally resulted in low molecular weight and broad molecular weight distribution, and also lowered the viscosity of the copolymers. The coated films prepared from these resins showed good and balanced properties in general. Adhesion to the substrate was outstanding in particular. Weatherability tests were carried out in three different types such as outdoor exposure, QUV, and SWO. The test results showed that the silicone/acrylic resins containing 30 wt% of MPTS had weather-resistant properties.

        This study was focused on the optimization of low-pressure ultrasonic spraying process for synthesis of pure nanoparticles. As process variables, pressure in the reactor, precursor concentration, and reaction temperature were changed in order to control the chemical and microstructural properties of iron oxide nanoparticles including crystal phase, mean particle size and particle size distribution. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies revealed that pure nanoparticles with narrow particle size distribution of 5-15 nm were successfully synthesized from iron pentacarbonyl () in hexane under 30 mbar with precursor concentrations of 0.1M and 0.2M, at temperatures over . Also magnetic properties, coercivity () and saturation magnetization () were reported in terms of the microstructure of particles based on the results from vibration sampling magnetometer (VSM).
