        Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate simulation-based asthma pediatric care among nursing students. Methods: One group post design was utilized. A total of 148 nursing students were recruited as participants. The data were collected from February 22to June10, 2016. Seven hours of simulation-based asthma pediatric care was conducted. Results: The total mean knowledge score for asthma pediatric care was 3.8, and simulation-based performance score was 8.0. In simulation-based performance, the highest mean score was 2.4 for “oxygenation” category and the lowest mean score was 1.5 for “nursing recording.” There was no statistically significant difference in the level of clinical performance using simulation for the upper, middle, and lower groups according to the theoretical knowledge level. Additionally, no statistically significant correlation was found between the theoretical knowledge score and simulation-based clinical performance score. Conclusion: The findings suggest that simulation-based care involving various scenarios and integrated evaluation tools for clinical nursing performance are required to improve asthma pediatric care among nursing students.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of a problem-based simulation education program on nursing student’s academic achievement, academic efficacy, and clinical performance skills. Methods: This study examined a group of nursing students using the pretest-posttest test design. Second year pediatric nursing students studying the practical subject Integrated Simulation at S University in K region were asked to complete a self-administered questionnaire before and after using a problem-based simulation education program. In addition to using SPSS/WIN 21.0 for descriptive analysis, the data was analyzed using independent t-test, repeated measures ANOVA and Pearson- correlation. Results: After completing the simulation education program, participants showed statistically higher academic achievement (t = -5.795, p < .001) and clinical performance skills (t = -3.835, p = <.001) than before. However, there was no significant difference in academic efficacy score(t=-.217, p=.829). Conclusion: The results from this study indicate that lessons with various methods and content should be developed to –evaluate both theoretical knowledge and clinical performance skills. In addition, there is a need to develop a standard evaluation.

        Purpose: This research involved a review of studies that examined the effectiveness of simulation-based nursing for clinical nurses in Korea. Methods: This is a methodological study for the identification of the simulation based educational interventions applied to nurses. Existing literature on simulation-based nursing education was searched using KISS, RISS, and Google Scholar electronic data bases and the keywords were “simulation,” “nurse,” “debriefing,” and “effect.” A total of 6 studies were included in the analysis. Results: Identified studies were conducted between 2010 and January 2017. All of the studies were randomized controlled trials(RCT). Scenario subjects were “communication skill,” and “emergency care.” Information about debriefing was largely absent from the studies. Conclusion: The findings suggest that activation of simulation–based nurse education is required. This study proposed that choice of measurement variables considering objectivity is needed.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of simulation training using video debriefing on the self-efficacy, problem solving ability, and learning satisfaction of nursing students. Method: The study design was control group pre-and post-test non-synchronized experimental design. The sample included two teams of 138 nursing students. The experimental group provided feedback after the simulation was run, and then the team was debriefed through the video recorded video in the debriefing room, and the control group performed the oral debriefing. This study was conducted from November 10, 2015 to December 10, 2015, using descriptive statistics, χ²-test and t-test. Results: The scores of the self-efficacy, problem- solving process performance, and learning satisfaction were higher than those of the group who received the video debriefing (experimental group) than those who received the oral debriefing training (control group). Conclusion: It has been found that debriefing using video in the simulation training has a positive effect on self-efficacy, ability to perform problem solving process and improvement of learning satisfaction, so it can be utilized as an effective teaching and learning strategy and also helps strengthen nursing capacity.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of communication simulation based on for elderly sensation disorders patient. the elderly population is growing about hearing loss, cataracts on this communication simulation for a nursing student is required. Methods: A nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. A total of 46 subjects (undergraduate students) participated in they were assigned to two groups: the experimental group(n=24) the control group (n=22). Data - gathering structured questionnaires that included communication competence, academic self-efficacy, and attitude about the elderly. The data were collected and statistical analyses were conducted with x2 test and independent t-test using the SPSS 22.0 program. Results: there was significant improvement in communication competence in the experiment group (t=2.05, =.046) and attitude about the elderly (t=-2.26, p=.033). However, there was no statistically no significant in academic self-efficacy(t=1.17, p=.247) Conclusion: communication Simulation should continue to be developed further for better sensation disorders with elderly patient. Integrated education in particular using a high-fidelity simulator will contribute to improvement in nursing competence.

        Purpose: The purpose of this research was to explore the experiences of simulation education to undergraduate nursing students who have defected from North Korea. Methods: Individual in-depth interviews with nine students were conducted using semi-structured interview and open question. Data were collected December 2014 to April 2015 and analyzed using Colaizzi phenomenological method. Results: Three essential themes were extracts that were as follows 1) Confronting another barrier 2) Reflecting on nursing competency through simulation education 3) Beginning of adaptation to the nursing education Conclusion: The results can contribute to an understanding of the simulation education experience of undergraduate nursing students who have defected from North Korea. In addition, these results will provide foundational data in establishing simulation education strategies to improve nursing competency, helping them adapt to nursing education in Korea.

        Purpose: This study was to identify the effect of siimulation-based educational for delivery nursing program on knowledge, problem solving process and confidence in nursing students. Methods: This study was one group pre-post test design, participants are 51 nursing student. This simulation-based education for delivery nursing program was applied to the subjects from 31th, August to 25th, September, 2015. The program consist of a scenario in which each of the situations presented from first stage of labor to the fourth stage of labor. Data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 19.0 program. Result: There was a significant difference on delivery nursing knowledge, problem solving process and confidence. Conclusion: Therefore, the educational program of labor simulation was effective on improving knowledge, problem solving process and self-confidence among nursing students.

        This study investigates the current states and strategies to promote simulation based nursing education. The subjects of study were 118 domestic four-year college samples, the survey was used a self-report questionnaire from October 2015 to February, 2016. The result of this study was that Simulation training course was composed of 'credits' (82.5%), practice personnel for simulation training course was mean 11.6 persons per practice group, and simulation training course consisted of almost six placement, and there were mean 3.08 simulation models. And Charge instructors for simulation practice were a assistant professor(28.9%), professor(26.3%), and dedicated personnel was mean 1.7 persons. Instructors were received education an average of 4.40 times, they learned the most common from institutions and medical device company(30.4%), The result was revealed that "Critical thinking skills" (23.7%) of the goal of simulation nursing education was the most common, and the contents of evaluation contents was problem-solving skills (20.9%). Most majors to conjugate simulation nursing education were an average of 2.54 credits/3.14 hours as an adult nursing, 1.55 credits/1.60 hrs as an pediatric nursing, 1.50 credits/3.00 hrs as fundamentals of nursing, and 1.25 credits/2.63 hrs as an maternal nursing, respectively. Most scenarios that were dyspnea care (67.5%) %), cardiovascular care (50.0%), maternal child-related care (47.5%), and hypoglycemia nursing care(37.5%), and others(67.5%). In conclusion, it is necessary to establish the standard for simulation nursing education and it is expected to reflect in the policies of educational accreditation.

        Purpose: This study sheds light on the learning experiences of simulation-based education in nursing, through a comparative analysis with clinical practice experiences. Methods: Participants were six nursing students who underwent simulation-based nursing education. In-depth focused individual interviews were conducted, and themes were extracted from the data through content analysis. Results: Two essential themes were extracted: 1) shift from being an observer to being active participants and 2) shift from unidimensional to multi-dimensional problem solving. Conclusion: These results indicate that simulation-based education was effective in enhancing learning attitude and problem-solving skills. These results can also guide nurse educators regarding the conditions under which simulation environments are more effective

        Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify instructor’s experience on debriefing of nursing simulation education Methods: The participants were nine instructors in simulation-based nursing education. Data were collected from May, 2015 to June, 2015, through in-depth interviews and were analyzed on the basis of Colaizzi’s phenomenological methodology. Results: Three essential themes were extracts that were as follows 1) Instructors’ reflection on their teaching of debriefing in education 2) Determining the effects of debriefing in the simulation-based nursing education 3) Devoting one’s efforts for successful debriefing Conclusion: Debriefing is built on instructors’ reflection of how the debriefing process can be applied in simulation-based nursing education; this process can provide a practical understanding of nursing students, educational contents, and educational environments. Successful debriefing for enhanced nursing competency requires instructors’ effects to identify and deal with educational problems by reflecting on their teaching experience.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of satisfaction and clinical competence on simulation-based practice in woman’s hospital and to figure out the factors that level of satisfaction affect to clinical competence. Method The subjects in the experimental group were 93 students who did simulation-based practice and subjects in the control group were 70 students who practiced in woman’s hospital. Data was analyzed using ex post factor experimentation during second semester in 2013. Results: There was statistically no significant difference between the two groups, but positive correlation between the main variables. The most significant affecting factors to clinical competence in experimental group were satisfaction of contents and duration(R2=.24). The most significant affecting factors to clinical competence in control group were satisfaction of evaluation and practice stressor (R2=.32). Conclusion Since there was no difference between the two groups, once the difficult part in clinical practice of maternity nursing is practiced repeatedly, student’s competence can be improved. Hence the continual study was required.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore instructor's experience on nursing simulation education Methods: The participants in this study were 10 instructors at a university in Korea. They had teaching experience of simulation education in various parts of curriculum. Data were collected from October, 2014 to December, 2014, through in-depth interviews and were analyzed on the basis of Colaizzi’s phenomenological methodology. Results: Four essential themes were extracts that were as follows 1) Came across obstacles about use of the simulator 2) Need of instructors’ preparation for the simulation education is required 3) The simulation education conditions are in need of improvement 4) Need of efforts required to strengthen competency as professional nurses Conclusion: Even though at times the education was not carried out smoothly from simultor and education condition, the instructors felt the need for the simulation education in nursing and realized that instructors preparation and simulation education conditions were in need of improvement. Furthermore, the instructors thought the need of further efforts for the students to strengthen their nursing competency as professional nurses. Such understanding of the instructors’ experience, therefore, will be applied to the course of education, which will help maximize the effects of the simulation education and contribute to the necessary improvement required through the curriculum.

        Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the effects of Clinical practice learning using a web-based e-book on nursing students' learning motivation, knowledge achievement and satisfaction with clinical practice. Methods: The participants in this study were 69 third-year nursing students (34 in the experimental and 35 in the control group) from a C-university in G-city, Korea, who were engaged in one-week clinical practicum in a gastroenterology ward. The data were analyzed by x²-test, Fisher's exact test, and t-test with the SPSS program 20.0. Results: After intervention, compared to the control group, the experimental group reported significant difference in Learning motivation (t=-3.61, p<.001), knowledge achievement(t=-2.92, p<.001), and satisfaction with clinical practice (t=-8.78, p<.001) in the training course using Mosby's nursing skills. Conclusion: These results identified that clinical practice learning using Mosby’s Nursing Skills was effective for the improvement of learning motivation, knowledge achievement and satisfaction with clinical practice. These results indicate that the implementation of an e-Learning needs to be continued as an effective educational tool. Also, it is needed to research more for better ways to implement e-Learning on students’ practicum.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of simulation-based education for nursing students. Methods: One group pre-post test of quasi-experimental design was used. Forty-four nursing students participated in the study. The instruments used for this study were critical thinking disposition scales and problem solving process scales, clinical competency scales. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 18.0 program with descriptive statistics, paried-test. Results: There were significant increases in critical thinking(t=5.958, p<.001), problem solving process(t=3.331, p=.002) and nursing clinical(t=2.226 p=.031). Conclusion: In conclusion, the simulation-based education program was effective in contributing towards the development of critical thinking, problem solving process and clinical competence. Further study is needed to develop of clinical based learning modules and determine the effect of simulation method, learning times, team size on learrning.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand how team performance was related to team efficacy, interpersonal understanding, positiveness in problem solving, and class satisfaction, after applying simulation education using team based learning. Methods: Study objects were the students in C college who learn through simulation using team based learning for 4 weeks(March 2012 to June 2012). Team efficacy, interpersonal understanding, and positiveness in problem solving were developed by Kwon (2010). Class Satisfaction was developed by Kim (1998) and team performance was designed by professors. SPSS/WIN 21.0 was used for descriptive analysis, pearson correlation. Results: In this study, team performance score was related to interpersonal understanding (score=3.84, r=.620, p<.001), team efficacy(score=3.73, r=.510, p<.001), positiveness in problem solving(score=3.56, r=.468, p=.001), and class satisfaction(score=3.55, r=.448, p=.002), respectively. Conclusion: There findings indicate that there is a need to increase team efficacy,interpersonal understanding, positiveness in problem solving and class satisfaction to improve team performance of nursing students

        Purpose: This study examined the effects of simulation-based education on knowledge, self-confidence and satisfaction about maternity core nursing practicum in senior nursing students. Methods: One group, pre-post design, was utilized with 77 students. The simulation -based maternity core nursing practicum that consisted of two sessions each 2 hours long for intrapartum and postpartum care was provided to 6 small groups. Core items of knowledge about and self-confidence in maternity core nursing practicum were measured with 18 items before and after the sessions. Results: The knowledge, self-confidence and satisfaction scores in maternity nursing care showed a significant change in the post-test (t=-13.99, p<.001, t=-21.14, p<.001). Conclusion: The simulation-based maternity core nursing practicum was useful in improving the knowledge, self-confidence and satisfaction scores for childbirth and postpartum care in nursing students. In conclusion, We recommend for maternity core nursing practicum to empower the competency of the students.
