        This study has investigated the physicochemical and sensory characteristics of muffins supplemented with 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% roasted safflower seed powder (SSP) in order to assess its applicability as a functional ingredient in baked goods. As the SSP content increased, the pH of both the batter and the muffins significantly decreased, whereas the height, volume, and specific volume of the muffins increased. Moisture content and baking loss rate were not significantly affected. Color analysis revealed that the L* and b* values decreased, whereas the a* values and total color difference (ΔE) significantly increased with higher SSP levels. Texture profile analysis showed that the hardness, gumminess, chewiness, and resilience decreased as SSP increased, whereas springiness improved. In the sensory evaluation, the overall preference was highest for the control (7.30), followed by the SSP 15 group (5.77), thus indicating that excessive SSP addition negatively affected consumer acceptance due to a darker color and rougher texture. However, the SSP 15 formulation achieved a favorable balance between health functionality and sensory quality. These results suggest that up to 15% SSP can be effectively incorporated into muffins in order to improve their functional value without compromising product quality or consumer satisfaction.

        This study examined the effects of partially replacing wheat flour with roasted safflower seed powder (SSP) on brownie quality, using proportions of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. The addition of SSP had no significant dose-dependent effect on pH. Although the highest moisture content was observed in SSP 20 brownies (8.48%), no significant differences were found among samples. Brownie thickness increased proportionately with the amount of added SSP. Volume and density also increased with higher SSP content. Brightness (L), redness (a), and yellowness (b) values were all highest in SSP 20 brownies, indicating that SSP content affects brownie color. Hardness exhibited an increasing trend, with the control group values at 331.38±12.85 and SSP 20 at 432.70±39.84. Sensory evaluations revealed a highest overall preference for the control group, followed by the SSP 10 group. These findings suggest that the addition of 10% SSP is appropriate for brownies.

        본 연구는 국내 육성 품종 ‘선플’과 ‘감황’ 과실 생산에 적합 한 수분수를 선발하기 위해 ‘SKK2’, ‘델리웅’, ‘보화’, ‘Chieftain’ 각각의 꽃가루로 인공수분하여 과실 품질과 종자의 발육을 조 사하였다. 착과율은 두 품종이 모든 처리구에서 96% 이상이 었다. ‘선플’은 ‘델리웅’ 처리에서 과중이 가장 높았고 2021년 은 ‘보화’ 처리에서 2022년은 ‘Chieftain’ 처리에서 가장 낮았 다. ‘감황’은 2021년에 ‘델리웅’ 처리에서 2022년은 ‘Chieftain’ 처리에서 과중이 가장 높아 연차 간 차이를 보였다. ‘선플’의 과실 품질 조사 결과, 2022년에 건물률은 ‘SKK2’처리에서 가장 높고 가용성 고형물 함량은 ‘Chieftain’에서 가장 높았으 며 2021년에는 처리 간 유의차가 없었다. ‘선플’의 총 종자 수 와 미숙 종자 수는 6배체 수분수 처리구에서 가장 많았고 천립 중은 4배체 수분수 처리구에서 무거웠다. ‘감황’의 과실 품질 조사 결과, 건물률과 산 함량은 2년 모두 ‘SKK2’ 처리에서 가 장 높았고 가용성 고형물 함량은 연차 간 차이를 나타냈다. ‘감 황’의 총 종자 수와 성숙 종자 수는 ‘델리웅’과 ‘Chieftain’ 처 리에서 가장 많았고 미숙 종자 수는 ‘SKK2’ 처리에서 가장 적 었다.

        This research investigated the preparation of activated carbon derived from Krabok (Irvingia malayana) seed shells to improve the quality of crude glycerol obtained during biodiesel production. The activated carbon was prepared using a dry chemical activation method with NaOH, utilizing an innovative biomass incinerator. The results revealed that the resulting KC/AC-two-step exhibited favorable physicochemical adsorption properties, with a high surface area of 758.72 m2/g and an iodine number of 611.10 mg/g. These values meet the criteria of the industrial product standard for activated carbon No. TIS 900-2004, as specified by the Ministry of Industry in Thailand. Additionally, the adsorption efficiency for methylene blue reached an impressive 99.35 %. This developed activated carbon was then used to improve the quality of crude glycerol obtained from biodiesel production. The experimental results showed that the KC/AC-two-step increased the purity of crude glycerol to 73.61 %. In comparison, commercially available activated carbon (C/AC) resulted in a higher crude glycerol purity of 81.19 %, as analyzed by the GC technique. Additionally, the metal content (Zn, Cu, Fe, Pb, Cd, and Na) in purified glycerol using KC/AC-two-step was below the standards for heavy metals permitted in food and cosmeceuticals by the Food and Drug Administration of Thailand and the European Committee for Food Contact Materials and Articles. As a result, it can be inferred that Krabok seed shells have favorable properties for producing activated carbon suitable as an adsorbent to enhance crude glycerol purity. Furthermore, the improved crude glycerol from this research has potential for various industrial applications.

        This study investigated on the chemical components, quality characteristics, antioxidant compounds, and activity of maize hybrids according to the cultivar, and breeding maize seeds crossed with seed and pollen parent. The moisture, crude fat, crude ash, crude protein, carbohydrate, and amylose contents of maize hybrids were significantly different among cultivars, and seeded and pollinated maize. The L-, a- and b-value of maize hybrids were 39.81~47.21, -0.01~0.55 and 5.85~18.47, respectively. Water binding capacity, water solubility index and swelling power were 123.29~153.32, 4.69~5.76 and 20.11~21.47%, respectively. The phenolic compounds and radical scavenging activity of maize hybrids were significantly different among cultivars, and seeded and pollinated maize. Total polyphenol and flavonoid contents of maize hybrids were 1,335.41~1,876.29 μg/g and 184.24~453.95 μg CE/g, respectively. The DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities were 171.75~239.16 and 299.44~364.09 mg TE/100 g, respectively. As a result, it could be used as a basic data for cultivating phenol compounds and antioxidant activity in maize breeding.

        This study was conducted to develop a technique for the stable production of Italian ryegrass(IRG) seeds in reclamation sites. Harvesting 35 days after heading in Autumn resulted in the highest production, an average of 2,232kg/ha. The production yield decreased due to seed loss as harvesting was delayed to 45 and 55 days post-heading. For the harvested 35 days post-heading, under growing rice sowing resulted in 80% seed yield of after rice sowing's; spring sowing resulted in 40%. After rice sowing using the domestic IRG seeds of 30kg/ha produced the highest seed yield of 2,507kg/ha. The highest straw yield has resulted when using the imported IRG seeds of 20kg/ha for after rice sowing 35 days post-heading fresh weight 36,667kg/ha, dry weight 14,500kg/ha, and TDN weight 7,895kg/ha.

        The impact of storage temperature on the changes in acid value(AV), peroxide value(POV), color value, total phenolic content(TPC), and antioxidant activity in perilla seed(PS) was investigated. The PS was stored at 25, 35, and 45℃ for four weeks. An increase in the storage temperature resulted in significantly increased AV, POV, redness, and yellowness of the PS. Conversely, TPC, antioxidant activity, and redness of the PS significantly decreased. The changes in the AV and POV followed a first-order kinetic model, and the kinetic parameters such as k, t1/2, Q10 and Ea were calculated. The k and t1/2 values decreased with increasing storage temperature and the Q10 values for the AV and POV were 1.56, 1.91, 4.61, and 3.43, respectively. The Ea for the changes in of the AV and POV in the PS were 70.40, 102.63 kJ/mol, respectively. The half-life values for the AV and POV of the PS at 25℃ were 169.52 and 373.18 days, respectively, while the values at 45℃ for those, were 28.47 and 27.93 days, respectively.

        본 연구는 고부가가치 약용작물인 잔대(Adenophora triphylla var. japonica Hara)의 종자 형태특성과 휴면 유형을 조사하고, 발아율 향상을 위한 소독제와 광질을 선발하기 위해서 수행되었다. 종자 소독은 증류수(대조구), NaClO 4%, H2O2 4%와 benomyl 500mg·L-1를 이용하여 실시하였으며, 광질처리는 암조건(control I), 형광등 (control II), LEDs[red, blue, green, RB LEDs(red:blue = 8:2, 6:4, 4:6, 2:8)]를 광주기 12/12(light/dark), 광도 150μmol·m-2·s-1 photosynthetic photon flux density로 설정 하였다. 잔대 종자는 emryo (E):seed (S) ratio가 0.4로 미숙배 종자지만 30일 이내에 발아가 되며, 침지 6시간 만에 포화상태에 도달하였다. 종자 소독 후 benomyl 처리에서 곰팡이 발생이 유의적으로 억제되었으며, 최종 발아 율이 87%로 가장 높았다. 적색광에서 최종 발아율이 92%로 가장 높았으며, 일일평균발아수는 R2B8에서 가장 적었다. 따라서 잔대 종자는 휴면이 거의 없으며, benomyl 소독제와 적색광이 발아율 향상에 효과적이여, 향후 약용작물 잔대 재배에 이용가치가 높을 것이라 판 단된다.

        In this study, baked rice donuts with added psyllium seed husk were manufactured and their quality and retrogradation characteristics were investigated. Control (Con) was made only with wheat flour; Psyllium seed husk in the amount of 8, 12, 16 and 20 grams was added to make rice donuts (P8, P12, P16 and P20). Higher amounts of psyllium seed husk reduced the moisture loss and baking loss, and increased the moisture content and water holding capacity of the donuts. The specific volume of Con was the highest of all the groups. As the amount of psyllium seed husk increased, the lightness and yellowness of the crumb decreased, and the redness of the crumb increased. Hardness also increased as the amount of psyllium seed husk increased. The hardness of P16 was the most similar to that of Con. The scanning electron microscopy images also identified that the structure of the donuts got denser as the amount of psyllium seed husk increased. Rate constant (k) of the rice donuts with psyllium seed husk were lower than that of Con. In conclusion, it is considered that P16 is the sample that is the most similar to Con in terms of texture, but the retrogradation was more retarded in P16 than Con.

        본 연구는 키위 ‘Halla Gold’, ‘Sweet Gold’ 및 ‘Enza Gold’ 품종에서 꽃가루 품종 및 희석 비율이 과실 품질 및 종자 형성에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 수행되었다. 1. 화분관은 인공수분 2일 또는 3일 후에 밑씨에 도달하였는데, 그 양상은 꽃가루 품종과 희석 비율에 따라 차이가 있 었다. 화분관 신장은 ‘Halla Gold’와 ‘Sweet Gold’에는 ‘Bohwa’가 ‘Enza Gold’에는 ‘Chieftian’이 좋았으나 ‘Enza Gold’에서는 반대의 경향이었다. 중국산 꽃가루 희석 비율에 따른 화분관 신장은 20배 희석에서 다소 낮은 경향이었다. 2. ‘Hall Gold’, ‘Sweet Gold’ 및 ‘Enza Gold’에서 과중과 건물 률은 ‘Bohwa’로 수분했을 때 높은 경향을 보였다. 종자 수에 있어서 ‘Halla Gold’와 ‘Sweet Gold’에서는 과중과 건물률과 유사한 경향이었으나, ‘Enaza Gold’에서는 반대의 경향을 나타냈다. 3. ‘Enza Gold’에서 중국산 수입 꽃가루 희석비율에 따른 과중 및 건물률은 1~10배에서는 큰 차이가 없이 높은 편이나 20배에서는 가장 낮은 경향이었다. 종자 수 및 100립 중도 유사한 경향이었다.

        Pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata Duch.) seed is rich in protein and sulfur-containing amino acids. Tofu is a protein gel made from soybean, which is rich in lysine but lacking in sulfur-containing amino acids. This study was conducted to investigate the use of pumpkin seeds in tofu manufacture and to determine its quality and texture characteristics. Soybean was substituted with pumpkin seed to obtain pumpkin seed tofu at the following ratios: 10%, 30%, 50%, and 70% (P10, P30, P50 and P70). Tofu manufactured only with soybean was used as a control (Con). The higher rate of pumpkin seed substitution significantly decreased the moisture content and yield rate (p<0.05). In contrast, pH value and turbidity were significantly increased with the increase in the amount of pumpkin seed (p<0.05). The L-value (81.74~79.04), a-value (-0.19~-3.89) and b-value (12.40~9.84) of samples significantly decreased with the amount of pumpkin seed (p<0.05). No significant difference in syneresis was found among the samples (p<0.05). The hardness tended to decrease with the increase in the amount of pumpkin seed. The microstructure analysis revealed that the pore size of pumpkin seed tofu was smaller than that of Con. These results suggest that the pumpkin seed protein is a useful ingredient in the manufacture of tofu. Increasing the pumpkin seed substitution levels improves the texture of tofu.

        This experiment was carried out to determine the effect of organic fertilizer and seed mixture on productivity, botanical composition and forage quality in middle areas(Geumsan, 250m sea level) pasture. Total six experimental pastures (orchardgrass, timothy and tall fescue based seed mixture and with or without organic fertilizer) were established in autumn, 2014 and evaluated productivity and agronomic characteristics from 2015 to 2016. Plant heigh was higher in orchardgrass based mixture and orchardgrass and tall fescue based mixture were higher in 2nd harvest. There was not found the significant difference among treatment(P<0.05) in dry matter (DM) content. Botanical composition in 1st harvest was higher weed portion in orchardgrass based mixture and legumes was disappeared at 3rd harvest in all treatments. Fresh and dry matter yield was higher in 2nd year than 1st year. In 1st year, orchardgrass based mixture with organic fertilizer plot was the highest(P<0.05) DM yield, but tall fescue based mixture with organic fertilizer was the highest in 2nd year. Content of crude protein (CP) was the highest in tall fescue based mixture and Timothy based mixture showed low in ADF (acid detergent fiber) and NDF (neutral detergent fiber) content. But the content if in virto dry matter digestibility was higher than others. In 2nd year, the nutritive value of 2nd and 4th harvested grasses were higher and average RFV (relative feed value) value was the highest at 4th harvest. According to this result, orchardgrass and tall fescue based mixture would be recommendable for farm who considering productivity and timothy based mixture would be recommendable for considering forage quality in middle areas of Korea.
