        초 록 무궁화 ‘대일’은 2001년 ‘서봉’(H. sinosyriacus ‘Seobong’)과 ‘남원’(H. syriacus ‘Namwon’)을 종간교잡하여 2004년부터 3 년간 후대검정을 통하여 2006년 최종 선발하였고 2008년 품종 보호권을 등록하였으며 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 신품종 ‘대 일’은 수세가 강한 교목성의 특성을 지니고 있으며 가지의 밀도 는 중간이고 방향이 약간 위로 향하여 생장하며 녹갈색을 띠고 있었다. 잎 길이와 폭 역시 신품종 ‘대일’은 각각 7.95 ± 1.3cm, 4.95 ± 1.7cm으로 대조품종에 비하여 크고, 잎의 너비와 어깨너 비의 비 역시 넓은 편이었다. 신품종 ‘대일’의 꽃잎의 색이 약간 보라색을 띤 분홍색으로 꽃잎이 완전 겹치는 I-c형이었다. 또한 꽃의 크기가 11.4 ± 1.7cm로 기존 품종에 비해 크고 꽃잎의 폭 과 길이가 큰 특징이 있다. 또한 단심의 길이는 보통이나 꽃잎 에 방사선 무늬가 길게 뻗어 있다. 개화기는 6월 30일로 대조 품종의 7월 13일에 비해 2주정도 빠른 여름 개화형이고, 10월 16일 개화가 끝이나 총 개화기간이 108일로 대조품종의 73일에 비해 길다. 신품종은 임실성이 낮고 꼬투리의 크기 역시 대조품 종에 비해 작은 것으로 나타났다.

        The large bumblebee, Bombus terrestris, which is indigenous to Europe and is used extensively for high-value crop pollination, has been artificially introduced throughout the world. Here we show the interspecific cross-mating between bumblebee species, B. terrestris and B. ignitus under laboratory conditions. The mating and oviposition rates of interspecific cross-mating of B. terrestris queen with B. ignitus male are higher than those of intraspecific matings of B. ignitus. Furthermore, the competitive copulation experiment indicates that cross-mating of a B. ignitus male with B. terrestris queen is 1.8-fold more frequent than with a B. ignitus queen. The cross-mated B. ignitus queen with B. terrestris male produced B. ignitus workers and B. ignitus male offspring, and the cross-mated B. terrestris queen with B. ignitus male produced both B. terrestris males and B. ignitus male offspring. The genetic tests using a portion of the mitochondrial COI gene for the parent and hybrid offspring indicate that mitochondrial DNA was maternally inherited. Our results indicate that interspecific cross-mating occurred between B. ignitus and B. terrestris, which suggests that the cross-mating is not an exclusive force against the negative impact of competition and genetic contamination on native bumblebees.

        재배종과 야생종의 인공교잡 분리세대에서 주요형질들의 변이와 유전력을 조사하여 야생종을 이용한 콩 품종육성의 기초자료를 얻고자 수행한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 두 인공교배의 집단에서 100립중을 제외한 나머지 조사 형질들은 초월분리를 보였다. 과 의 평균 개화일수는 양친의 중간정도로 정규분포를 보였다. 백립중의 평균은 은하콩, 소백나물콩 두 조합 각각 6.2, 5.7g으로 소립종 쪽으로 치우쳤으며, 입중의 분포는 소립종 쪽으로 치우친 정규분포를 보였다. 의 평균수량은 양친의 중간정도이었다. 의 덩굴성은 두 조합 각각 6.4, 6.6이었으며 평균은 은하콩 조합이 6.0으로 덩굴성 쪽으로 치우쳐 덩굴성이 부분적인 우성을 보였으나, 소백나물콩 조합에서는 4.6으로 은하콩과는 다른 결과를 보였다. 경장, 개화일수, 개체당 협수, 수량, 도복, 덩굴성 등은 높은 광의의 유전력을 보였으며 100립중은 협의의 유전력이 은하콩 조합에서 52.3%, 소백나물콩 조합에서 65.6%로 평가되어 초기세대에서의 선발이 가능한 것으로 나타났다.

        ‘Hwaweon 6’ was developed from a cross between ‘Hwaseongbyeo’ and a wild species, Oryza minuta L. (Acc. No. 101154) based on marker-assisted selection and backcrossing. The recurrent parent ‘Hwaseongbyeo’ is a high grain quality cultivar with medium maturity. Hwaweon 6 is nearly isogenic to Hwaseongbyeo except a small O. minuta introgressed segment on chromosome 7 harboring genes related with spikelets per panicle. The preliminary and replicated yield trial was conducted at Chungnam National University and Chungcheongnamdo Agricultural Research & Extension (CARES), Yesan in 2009 and 2010. The local adaptability test was carried out by the National Seed Management Office (NSMO) in 2011 and 2012. This cultivar was registered to NSMO with a cultivar designated as Hwaweon 6. This cultivar averaged 80cm in culm length and has a medium growth duration. Milled rice of Hwaweon 6 is translucent and the grain quality traits are comparable to those of the recurrent parent. The average yield potential of Hwaweon 6 in grain was about 6.57 MT/ha at the ordinary fertilizer level for two years about 3.0% higher than that of Hwaseongbyeo due to an introgression of the quantitative trait locus (QTL) for spikelets per panicle (qSPP7) from O. minuta. This variety is comparable to Hwaseongbyeo in low temperature germinability and cold tolerance. The qSPP7 QTL would be useful in enhancing yield potential in rice breeding program.

        Background : Licorice has been used as a source of medicine and a food material in East-Asia. Recently, demand for licorice increased in market due to a growing interest in health. Thus we conducted breeding research to solve the problems associated with domestically cultivated licorice such as low productivity and low glycyrrhizin content. Methods and Results : We crossed European licorice (G. glabra L.; female parent) and Chinese licorice (G. uralensis Fisch; male parent) in the greenhouse in May 2007. In September 2007, crossed and germinated seeds were retrieved and sown in the greenhouse. In June 2008, stolons were separated from the F1 licorice seedlings and cultivated, resulting in 32 clonal lines of interspecific hybrids. Among them we selected good lines and then conducted the replicated yield trials (RYT) in 2012-2013 and local adaptability test (LAT) in 2014-2015. The results, GLYES9 showed that was elect of stem, oblong of leaf shape, red-brown of root color. Glycyrrhizin conten of GLYES9 (3.0%) was higher than G. uralensis (1.9%) at four regions from 2014 to 2015. GLYES9 was less than 10% in the desease of brown spot (G. uralensis was more than 30%). The root yield of GLYES9 was 4.31 ton per hectare, which was increased 193% compared with a check variety of G. uralensis. Therfore, we named GLYES9 as new cultivar ‘Dagam’. Conclusion : Depending on the above results, we have developed a new licorice cultivar ‘Dagam’ by the medicinal crop breeding team of National Institute of Horticulture and Herbal Science, RDA, in 2015. It showed brown spot disease resistant, high-glycyrrhizn content and high-yielding than colleted Glycyrrhiza spp.

        Grain weight is the most important target not only as a major component of grain yield, but also of the cooking qualities in rice breeding program. In a previous study, a high-resolution physical map targeting a cluster of yield-related QTLs for grain weight, spikelets per panicle has been constructed using series of BC3F4 nearly isogenic lines (NILs) derived from a cross between the Korean japonica cultivar Hwaseong and O. rufipogon. The QTLs including grain weight trait have been mapped in a 25.5kb region containing three genes. Based on GenBank database, these genes include male sterility 5 (OsMs5, LOC_Os09g36740), similar ascorbate peroxidase (OsApx, LOC_Os09g36750) and glutelin family protein (OsGlu, LOC_Os09g36760). Their endogenous expression patterns were analyzed in various rice tissues (2-week seedling, flag leaf, root and panicle) from the parental lines, Hwaseong and NIL-gw9. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR and qRT-PCR were performed using gene specific primer sets. The cDNAs of the similar OsApx gene of Hwaweong and NIL-gw9 were cloned. Over-expression and RNAi knock-down transgenic plants using three genes are under construction for the functional characterization of the genes. The results will be discussed.

        96 BC3F5 introgression lines derived from a cross between Hwaseong and O. rufipogon were genotyped with 131 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers to identify and characterize quantitative traits loci (QTLs) associated with grain quality traits in rice. 96 BC3F5 lines displayed a wide range of variation for days to heading and agronomic traits. Results indicated that one major QTL (qDTH6) on chromosome 6 was associated with significant variation for days to heading. 83 lines without the O. rufipogon segment at qDTH6 were selected and analyzed for grain quality traits. QTL analysis was conducted for two groups, 96 and 83 introgression lines, and a total of 25 QTLs were detected for rice quality traits. 16 QTLs were detected in a group of 93 lines, 11 QTLs detected in a group of 83 lines, and 2 QTLs were commonly identified in both groups. Most of the QTLs detected in this study were located on the same or adjacent regions as those reported by the previous studies, and the wild alleles negatively affected quality traits. In contrast, the wild allele at qGCR9 for the glossiness of cooked rice on chromosome 9 contributed to an increase in glossiness which is positively correlated with rice eating quality. Three ILs with the wild allele at qGCR9 displayed better eating quality than the recurrent parent, Hwaseong. To confirm the effect of qGCR9, high density mapping of the qGCR9 with a series of NILs will be conducted.

        본 연구는 유채-MS를 이용하여 배추와 순무 등을 화분친으 로 활용 잎의 모용이 없는 유채 잎에 배추와 순무의 엽색과 엽형 을 도입하여 소비자가 선호하는 새로운 형질을 갖춘 엽채소의 작출 가능성을 검토하고자 실시하였다. 교배효율에 영향을 미 치는 인공수분 후 주두 위에서의 화분발아나 화분관 신장은 유 채-MS와 배추간 종간 교배 조합에서 유채-MS와 순무간 종간 교잡보다 빠르게 진행되었으며, 유채-MS와 배추간 종간교잡 에서의 결협율이 90.6%로 유채-MS와 순무의 교배 결협율 67.3% 보다 23.3% 정도 높게 나타났으며, 협당결실립수는 각각 15.5립, 11.6립으로 나타나 유채-MS와 배추간의 종간교잡 효 율이 높았다. 유채-MS와 배추의 종간교잡 F1 잡종의 표현형질 의 특성은 주로 모계인 유채와 비슷하였으며 엽색은 밝은 녹색 으로 양친의 중간형을 나타냈고 모용은 적게 분포되어 있었으 며 엽수는 10.2매, 엽장은 27.5 ㎝, 엽폭은 14.0 ㎝로 잎의 길이 와 넓이가 유채에 비하여 커졌다. 유채-MS와 순무의 종간교잡 F1 잡종의 엽수는 9.6매, 엽장은 21.6 ㎝, 엽폭은 10.6 ㎝로 잎의 크기, 형태 및 결각 등은 양친의 중간형을 나타냈으며 엽색은 모 본인 유채와 비슷하거나 좀 더 짙은 녹색이었고, 모용이 잎의 앞 과 뒷면에 존재하였다.

        ‘화원 3호’는 종간교잡을 통해 화영벼의 근동질계통을 육성하고자 ‘97년 화영벼와 O. rufipogon을 교배하고, 계속적인 여교배와 MAS를 병행 실시하여 CR1112-5-2-1 계통을 선발하였다. 생산력검정 시험 결과 조사 형질 중 이삭추출도, 적고를 제외한 기타 형질에서는 화영벼와 유사한 근동질계통이었으며, 품종보호원 출원 조건에 부합하여 ‘화원 3호’로 명명하고 품종보호원을 출원하였다. 출수기는 보통기재배에서 8월 14일로 화영벼와 동일한 중생종 품종이다. 천립중은 22.1 gr으로 화영벼보다 1 gr 정도 무겁다. 흰잎마름병과 줄무늬잎 마름병에는 저항성이나 충해에는 약하다. 도정 특성, 아밀로스 함량은 화영벼와 비슷한 수준이었다. ‘화원 3호의 정조수량은 ’06~’07년 2개년간 실시한 생산력검정 시험에서 평균 7.23 MT/ha로 화영벼와 유사하였다. ‘화원 3호’는 화영벼와 근동질계통으로 자포니카 계통의 내냉성을 증진시키는 중간 모본 그리고 내냉성 유전자의 특성 분석을 위한 육종재료로 이용될 수 있을 것이다.

        In previous studies, we reported that a QTL for 1000-grain weight (TGW), qTGW3 was located in the interval between RM60 and RM523 (1.2Mb) on chromosome 3 using advanced backcross lines derived from a cross between Oryza sativa ssp. Indica cv. Milyang 23 and O. glaberrima. The O. glaberrima alleles at this locus increased TGW and GL in the Milyang 23 background. To further confirm and narrow down the position of the QTLs on chromosome 3, twenty lines with different O. glaberrima segments in the target region were selected. Twenty lines were evaluated for seven agronomic traits including 1,000 grain weight and grain length and also genotyped with ten SSR markers. Sixteen lines(A, B, C groups) with the O. glaberrima segment flanked by SSR markers, RM60 and RM7332 displayed significantly higher values than Milyang 23 in TGW and GL whereas four lines(D, E groups) without the O. glaberrima segment displayed no difference in TGW and GL. The result indicates that two QTL, qTGW3 and qGL3 are located near RM60 and RM7332.

        In a previous study, we mapped 12 QTLs for 1,000 grain weight (TGW) in the 172 BC2F2 lines derived from a cross between Oryza sativa ssp. Japonica cv. Hwaseongbyeo and O. rufipogon. These QTLs explained 5.4 – 11.4% of the phenotypic variance for TGW. Marker-aided selection combined with backcrosses was employed to develop QTL-NILs for each QTL. BC2F2 lines with each target QTL were backcrossed to Hwaseongbyeo twice and then allowed to self to produce BC4F5 populations. SSR markers linked to TGW were employed to select QTL-NILs with the respective target QTL. Six QTL-NILs with the recurrent parent, Hwaseongbyeo were evaluated for nine traits for three years from 2007 and 2009. Differences were observed between each of the 6 QTL-NILs and Hwaseongbyeo in TGW. In addition to TGW, these QTL-NILs displayed differences in other agronomic traits possibly indicating a tight linkage of genes controlling these traits. The direction of the QTL for TGW in 6 QTL-NILs was consistent as in the BC2F2 lines from the same cross. Difference in TGW between each of the QTL-NILs and Hwaseongbyeo was associated with the difference in one or two grain shape traits; grain length, grain width, and grain thickness. SSR markers linked to the QTL for TGW will facilitate selection of the grain shape character in a breeding program to diversify grain shape and provide the foundation for map-based gene isolation. Also, the QTL-NILs developed in this report and the progenies from crosses between the QTL-NILs will be useful in clarifying epistatic interactions among QTLs for TGW.

        In the previous study (Yuan et al. 2009), a quantitative trait locus (QTL) for grain weight was detected on the short arm of chromosome 5 using an advanced backcross lines (BC3F3) between Hwayeongbye (Oryza sativa) and W1944(Oryza rufipogon Griff.) .For detection of gw5 locus, a line CR6 (BC3F4) was selected and crossed to Hwayeongbyeo produce S1F2 and S1F3 population. And a plant from S1F3 population, carried W1944 homozygous segment for target region at gw5 was crossed to Hwayeong to produce S2F2 population. All these population including some S1F3 lines were grown in the field in 2007, 2008 and 2009, respectively (fig1). Frequency distribution of grain weight followed the Mendelian ratios(3:1) for single locus segregation (Χ2=1.22, 0.76, 1.34 in 2007, 2008 and 2009 respectively).In Hwayeongbye genetic background, the W1944 allele at the gw5 locusde creased grain weight, QTL analysis showed that gw5 co-segregated with RM18003 and RM194 (R2=62.7, 69.5 and 37.1% in 2007, 2008 and 2009 respectively). Addition, five QTLs plant height, culm length, secondary branch, spikelet number perplant and rationing ability were detected in the region around gw5, in 2008 and 2009. Substitution mapping with 32F3 lines, gw5 QTL was flanked by two SSRmarkers, RM18003 and RM194, in a300kb to 1.7Mb physical distance region,. QTL analysis indicated that 5 others QTLs plant height, culm length, secondary branch, spikelet number per plant and rationing ability were tightly linked.
