The purpose of this study is to present the damage detection method on shear building structures by mode shape. The damage location index using 1st mode shape is observed theoretically to find out damage location. The damage detection method is applied to numerical analysis model such as MATLAB and MIDAS GENw for the verification. Finally the shacking table test on 3 story shear building is performed for the examination of the damage detection method.

After test track was constructed in 2009, maintenance works have performed for 14 months to check the stability of station for bimodal tram. Consequently, station’s main body, infrastructure system as gate and ticket machine, passenger safety system, service information and guidance system, and operation management system have no problems except for minor problems such as main body’s acrylic products falling.

This study is intended to analyze the stress distribution of gas pipe buried in soft ground. A numerical analysis was carried out with API 5L X 65 steel gas pipe. The analytical model describes the typical cohesive sediment bed in domestic southwest coast, and embankment load is adopted for this research. Compared with residual soil conditions, the effective stress increases by 23∼26%. From the results, it can be suggested that the difference in soil stiffness would significantly affect the stress distribution of gas pipe buried in soft clay.

Retaining wall maintenance manual were modified and supplemented to reflect the revised standards and guidelines. This manual was revised to be easy to use by field engineers.

The amount of newly-built bridges has been gradually reduced so that the importance of maintenance for existing bridges which has a long services period is issued. Therefore, the maintenance budget for existing bridges is going to be consistently increased. It is needed that a reasonable decision-making methodology for existing bridge maintenance is required to effectively use the limited maintenance budget. In this study, a method of the structural vulnerability evaluation is newly suggested as the one of the evaluation stage for developing a reasonable decision-making methodology.

The purpose of this study is to provide the damage detection method using wavelet transformation. The damage location index through the mode shape of damaged structure is formulated theoretically and applied to numerical analysis model of MATLAB. The shacking table test on reduced 3 story shear building is performed and the dynamic response signal is wavelet transformed. The result of damage detection using wavelet transformed signal is compared to that of non wavelet transformed signal to verify the applicability of the wavelet transformation in damage detection.

In order to efficiently use a limited budget for bridge maintenance, a systematic decision-making method is proposed considering the performance of individual bridges and their direct and indirect values. The method can be expected to lead a quantitative decision-making in maintenance phase of bridges.

In this study, the measurement items for establishing the structural health monitoring for super tall buildings were proposed. The items were classified in level of structure, as a structure level and a member level. The external forces and internal responses are measured at each level to monitor the behavior of structure in real time.

As the service period of bridges becomes increased the maintenance and management of existing bridges become also more important. Korea Expressway Corporation has collected data on the maintenance for a long period but those obtained data has rarely been thoroughly analyzed for the maintenance purposes. This study investigated the service life of extension joint of bridge among various bridge members and this attempt should be very meaningful as using the data obtained from the field. The service life of the extension joints can be used for the development of maintenance strategy in the future.

This paper presents the prediction method of concrete strength according to curing methods for the quality control. Database and an artificial neural network were constructed and then the prediction program of concrete strength were developed.

Wireless monitoring system was established to measure PPWS(Prefabricated Parallel Wire Strand) temperature under PPWS erection in Ulsan Grand bridge. The applicability of it to bridge construction site was being evaluated. Wireless function was worked very well within 2km long distance. Transferred data was being analyzed.

In this study, several vibration characteristics of model bridge due to changes in cable tension are experimentally analyzed. In order to achieve the study, acceleration responses are measured from the model bridge for several cable tension case. The values of features extracted by frequency transform method are increased due to tension-loss.

For efficient maintenance management of load facilities, an establishment of asset management system is necessary which helps prediction of maintenance cost and strategic allocation of budget in consideration of toy priority. The main purpose of this study is to suggest asset valuation method, which is practical in conformity with domestic situations, through researches on asset valuation method of load facilities. As a consequence, the management and maintenance system of existing highway facilities needed an innovation involving the concept of asset management. This study discusses the new facility management system suitable to local highway agencies. The new system incorporates asset management concept so that it can analyze the project level facility management solution and it can also improve the budget efficiency for local government. This study also presents systematic method to integrate various facilities for management system.

Based on the analysis and test of concrete box structure under blast load, it was found that the blast retrofit by Kevlar/glass hybrid fabric sheet was more effective than retrofit by Carbon fiber reinforced plastic sheet to improve the structural performance of concrete subjected to blast pressure.

Damage of pavement over corrugated steel plate culvert with shallow cover was analyzed by filed investigation and numerical analysis. Field measurement showed that the flexible culvert was within the deformation limit and was structurally stable. Numerical analysis showed that deformation of culvert at the crest during the passage of heavy vehicle was about 2.72mm while the thrust and moment within the structure was far below the allowable value. It is concluded that the pavement was damaged by the cyclic deformation of culvert by the heavy vehicle.

The quality of injection sealer for water leakage maintenance be being managed by KS and ISO. However, the test result of percolation resistance performance have some errors by an experimenter. Therefore, this revision standard of test method is proposed by that the new tester is manufactured for solving this errors in this study.

Recently, retrofit by using fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) has been widely applied to building structure. However, it loose the retrofit contribution under high temperature due to fire because of its low glass transition temperature. In this manner, this paper presents a study on the development of fire resistant capacity in FRP retrofit system. Thermal transition of various fire resistant materials were verified by performing high temperature loading test. As a result, it was found that calcium silicate and alumino silicate had high resistance on the heat transition.

In the case of cultural properties, each member has a cultural value and replacing of damaged wood is not easy. In addition, state of our country research for repair and reinforcement of timber are still incomplete. since 2008, research of the reinforcement method using CFRP plate has started. in this study, experiment for the adhesion strength along attachment length of surface bonded and NSM using CFRP plate. As a result, the adhesive strength is increased depend on increased of the adhesion area, measured the change of intensity according to the species of the wood.

This paper describes the results of experimental testing of GFRP composite beam strengthened reinforced concrete (RC) slabs with two symmetrical openings. The aim of this study is to investigate the most effective strengthening method using GFRP composite beams in slabs with openings for enhancing the load-carrying capacity and stiffness. Test results showed that the strengthened slabs seem to increase the load-carrying capacity by 29%, 21% and 12% over that of the control specimen for diagonal, parallel and surround strengthening, respectively. Furthermore, test results showed that diagonal-strengthened system is one of the most effective methods for RC slab with openings in terms of load-carrying capacity, stiffness and crack patterns.
