Progressive mesh representation and generation have become one of the most important issues in network-based computer graphics. However, current researches are mostly focused on triangular mesh models. On the other hand, solid models are widely used in industry and are applied to advanced applications such as product design and virtual assembly. Moreover, as the demand to share and transmit these solid models over the network is emerging, the representation and the generation of progressive solid models depending on specific engineering needs and purpose are essential. In this paper, we present a Cellular Topology-based approach to generating progressive solid models from a feature-based solid model. The proposed approach introduces a new scheme for storing and transmitting solid models over the network. The Cellular Topology approach makes it possible to effectively generate progressive solid models and to efficiently transmit the models over the network.

In general, real-time video service is more sensitive to cell transmission delay than to cell loss. Existing handoff schemes emphasizing prevention of cell loss had limitations in cell transmission delay to satisfy QoS (Quality of Service). Thus, a scheme to minimize transmission delay generated during the handoff maintaining the sequence of cells is proposed. In this paper, transmission delay can be reduced by transmitting ATM cells with low CLP (CLP=0) prior to others and by discarding cells with high CLP (CLP=1). The proposed scheme is proven to be suitable for delay-sensitive real-time VBR service and appropriate for fast handoffs by giving high CLP (Cell Lose Priority) to less meaningful MPEG frames.

SOC(Social Overhead Capital) projects such as road, power plant, airport or telecommunication facility construction require a large scale of cost, a long period of time and management of a number of sub-contractors. So systematic and efficient management tool in SOC projects is inevitable. Information system provides a valuable tool which can integrate and manage the large volume of information for SOC projects. This study investigates and analyzes the information system of nuclear power plant construction project. Based on this study, we can suggest the direction for designing information system for SOC projects.

This research focuses on the study about the mugwort moxibustion and the manufacture of moxacautery instrument, which has been highly regarded in terms of alternative medicine and preventive medicine. The research has its purpose to study moxacautery instrument, which the far infrared ray, magnetic force, essential amino acids, good quality of protein, and vegetable fat, can be absorbed into the system of through the skin. The technical background of the research offers the characteristics of the far infrared ray, relationship between the far infrared ray and the human body, the role of the main body of moxacautery instrument, the function of the cover, and the features of the undercover. The research also shows the manufacture process of moxacautery instrument and natural nano materials based on mineral and bamboo charcoal. In the light of the excellence of mugwort moxibustion there is not much need to explain the way of using moxacautery instrument and treatment coverage. This research suggests the coverage of mugwort moxibustion- neurosis, metabolism, malnutrition, endocrine diseases, respiratory diseases, tuberculous diseases, digestive diseases, circulatory diseases, malignant[vicious] tumor, urinary diseases. The research also suggests three spot on the body important for moxacautery to strengthen the immune function of the body and seven spot on the body important for moxacautery to keep health and to treat the body.

Life analysis is the process of aggregating and analyzing the historical record of property for the purpose of obtaining information about the mortality characteristics of the property. Aged mortality data were collected for over 285 accounts from the domestic machinery industries. In this paper, estimates of service lives based on directly observed data on domestic machinery property and retirement rates are presented. It appears from the results of this study that Iowa L₃ - 10 survivor curves is the most appropriate expression for describing on domestic machinery property.

In order to polish complicated-shaped inner surfaces of models, a new polishing method with magnetic congelation liquid was invented, we called this name MAGIC polishing tool. This tool is magnetic fluid at high temperature, can be solidified by cooling. The distribution of abrasives in the liquid can be controlled by magnetic field. Therefore we can make a special polishing tool which has well arranged abrasives inside after cooling. In order to know the fundamental polishing properties of this new polishing tool, brass plate was polished. The polishing tool was pressed and rotated against the brass plate in specified polishing time. After many experiments, it was found that this type of polishing tool provided enough removal rate and surface roughness.

In this study, first, we show that the furnace process which requires maintaining high temperature is effected grievously by the temperature of surrounding air. The accuracy of rotation of spindle unit could be defined as the stability of its spindle axis while rotating. The rotation in the rolling bearings causes the disturbing influence, which leads to the oscillation of a rotation axis. The main source of oscillation is the interaction between rolling bodies and rings’ races. The first oscillation source investigated was the out-of-shape imperfection of inner bearing ring. It was shown that it is possible to considerably decrease the radial runout of spindle if we can orient the inner rings in such a manner that oscillations caused by them would mutually compensate each other. Also the outer ring harmonics were explored as the second oscillation source. It was found that it is possible to reduce the runout by making the oscillation antiphased by mutually adjusting position of bearings on assembly stage.

The compatibility of exchange data has been the problem of CAD/CAM systems since the very beginning. National and international organizations have addressed the issue through development and release of standards for the exchange of geometric and non-geometric design data. CAD/CAM vendors are in charge with the task of interpreting and implementing these standards into their products. This paper explores an area of CAD/CAM systems development, which deals with effective exchange standards translators’ implementation. We introduce the new approach, which proposes to enclose all the translation operations concerning each exchange format to a separate DLL, thus making a “plug-in.” Later this plug-in could be used together with the CAD/CAM system or with specialized translation software. This approach allows rapidly creating new translators and gaining the reliable, high-efficiency, and, what is important, reusable program code. All examples come from the authors’ practice experiences of dealing with CAD/CAM systems.

At present, multimedia systems have recently gained more and more popularity due to the widely use of digitally formatted audio, video, and printed information in network environment. In such respect, there is a serious threat that authors, publishers and providers of multimedia data are reluctant to allow the distribution of their data in a network due to the ease of widespread redistribution in their original form likely to enhance copyright violation. One way to address the problem is to hide invisible data in the content that has to be protected. This technology is called watermarking and which is widely used for traditional multimedia data types such as images, video and audio. First related publications date back to 1979 and it gained a large international interest in 1990. In this paper, we introduce how and what the digital watermarking are undergone to three dimensional models.

최근 전자거래가 B2C에서 B2B로 변화하는 추세에 따라 협업적인 가상환경에서 협업적 제품 거래(CPC, Collaborative Product Commerce)는 기업간 전자거래의 한 부분으로 자리 잡아 가고 있다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 진정한 기업간 전자거래 실현을 위하여 제품의 라이프사이클에 관련된 글로벌 기업 및 고객이 제품정보 및 협업 프로세스를 공유하고, 응용시스템을 통합함으로써 기업간의 협동 작업을 지원하는 협업적 제품거래 통합 프레임워크를 제안한다. 제안한 프레임워크의 느슨한 구조의 통합을 위해서는 XML SOAP, WSDL 및 UDDI 기술과 같은 Web Service 기술을 기반으로 하고, 이러한 웹 서비스 기반하에 각기 다른 언어로 작성된 여러 플랫폼 상에서 실행되는 각 기업의 이 기종 어플리케이션들이 인터넷상에서 실시간 프로그램 방식으로 상호작용할 수 있도록 CPC 통합 프레임워크를 구현 하였다.

This paper presents a collaborative product development architecture (cPDA) using multi-agents which provides a framework for the design and analysis tools to effectively communicate and collaborate. This paper addresses two key issues. One is concerned with product visualization and real-time collaboration over the Internet. It discusses the light-weight geometric representation of the product information for efficient transmission and sharing over the Internet. The other is concerned with the collaborative process management using multi-agents. The collaborative product development process is globally managed by the process manager, but locally managed by agent interactions, which combines the advantage of the hierarchical management of the process with the heterarchical one.

Nowadays, Internet-based businesses is activated in various organizations. In most of distribution and manufacturing companies, the main current of internet businesses is on-line sales (B2C: Business-to-Customer) centering around internet shopping. Most of theses businesses applied contents-centered and customer-oriented methodology for implementing internet business system(IBS). Also, recently, Introduction of Internet-based VAN(Value Added Network) systems and e-Procurement systems of purchase fields between parent companies and suppliers are proliferated for an efficiency of business and a reduction of transaction cost. These systems used methods of re-constructing the existing legacy systems into Internet-based systems. This paper proposes a customer-oriented and process-based methodology that simultaneously considers customer requirements and business processes of operational systems in order to implement an Internet business system. To demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed methodology, we applied and implemented an Internet business system for sales of A/S (After Service) spare parts and services on the object of the "H" company of manufacturing ship engines, which is a make-to-order corporation. As a result, This paper showed an effective applicability of Internet-based e-business on A/S business processes in order to improve a service quality for customer satisfaction in manufacturing companies.

A B2B electronic commerce system is developed, which is based on the components for distributed environments between enterprises. The electronic commerce process between enterprises is defined and as a process between working object components and objects modeled by UML. Each work process is translated from XML document and UML class document formats to DTD which has XML documentation structure. The design of distributed object system is presented by using UML adjusted to the object oriented modeling and XML documents which is to facilitate easy adaptation.
