목적 : 안경광학과 학생들의 의사소통 역량과 안경사 윤리강령 인식 간의 상관성을 분석하여, 예비 안경사의 핵 심 직무 역량 강화를 위한 교육 프로그램 개발의 기초 자료로 활용하고자 한다. 방법 : 본 연구에서는 안경광학과 재학생 98명을 대상으로 일반적 특성과 교육 경험 및 필요도는 빈도와 백분율 로 분석하였고, 최근 1년간 봉사 경험과 윤리적 가치 의식은 카이제곱 검정(chi-squared test)을 통해 분석하였 다. 또한, 의사소통 역량과 안경사 윤리강령 간의 상관관계는 Pearson 상관분석을 이용하여 분석하였다. 결과 : 의사소통 교육 경험 여부에 대해 77.55%가 경험이 있다고 응답했으며, 직업윤리 교육 경험 여부는 86.73%가 있다고 응답하였다고 답했다. 또한, 의사소통 역량의 필요성에 대해 81.63%가 필요하다고 응답하였다. 직무 관련 최근 1년간 봉사활동 경험과 윤리적 가치 및 직업의식 간의 연관성을 분석한 결과, 봉사 경험과 '우리 사 회의 근면성을 설명할 수 있다'라는 문항 간에 유의한 상관성(χ2=27.91, p=0.032)이 나타났다. 안경사 윤리강령과 의사소통 역량 간의 상관 분석 결과, '안경사는 품위를 유지하고 봉사 정신을 발휘해야 한다'와 '원활한 의사 표현을 방해하는 요인을 설명할 수 있다' 문항 간에 가장 높은 상관성(r=0.71, p<0.001)을 보였다. 결론 : 본 연구에서, 예비 안경사의 의사소통 역량 강화와 정직성을 바탕으로 한 직업윤리 확립의 필요성이 확 인되었다. 봉사 경험과 윤리적 가치 의식, 그리고 의사소통 역량과 안경사 윤리강령 간에 유의한 상관관계는, 다양 한 계층을 대상으로 한 비교과 프로그램을 체계적으로 구축하고 효과적인 교육 시스템 마련의 필요성을 시사한다.
본 연구는 국내 완도군 최남단에 위치한 여서도에 대한 나비목 생물상 조사를 통하여, 여서도의 생물학적 그리고 보존적 가치에 대해 알리고 자 한다. 본 연구로부터 나비목 총 154종 27과에 대한 체크리스트가 구축되었고, 먹점뿔나방과에 속하는 미기록 1종을 새롭게 기록하였다. 북두칠 성먹점뿔나방(신칭)의 성충 형태, 생식기 구조 및 생태에 대한 정보를 함께 제공하였다.
The commercial feed additive, native rumen microbes (RC), derived from a diverse microbial community isolated from the rumen of Hanwoo steers is being explored to enhance rumen fermentation and improve ruminant feed utilization. This study evaluated the impact of native rumen microbes supplementation on methane emissions, microbial diversity, and fermentation efficiency on in vitro assessment. Treatments were as follows: CON (basal diet, without RC); T1 (basal diet + 0.1% RC); T2 (basal diet + 0.2% RC). Rumen fermentation parameters, total gas, and methane production were assessed at 12, 24, and 48 h of incubations. The in vitro gas production was carried out using the Ankom RF Gas Production System. Supplementation of RC significantly reduced the total gas production at 12, 24, and 48 hours of incubation (p < 0.05). Volatile fatty acid concentrations were increased, while acetate and propionate were decreased (p < 0.05) at 48 h by the supplementation of RC. Notably, the 0.1% inclusion level of RC significantly reduced methane production by 28.30% and 21.21% at 12 and 24 hours. Furthermore, microbial diversity analysis revealed significant shifts (p < 0.05) in bacterial composition between the control and treatment groups, while supplementation also promoted the growth of bacterial populations, such as Succiniclasticum. These findings suggest that native rumen microbes supplementation, particularly at 0.1% inclusion level, can enhance rumen microbial composition while significantly reducing methane production in vitro.
목적 : 본 연구는 안경 처방에 필요한 매개변수를 분석하여 정확하고 편안한 안경 처방을 위한 객관적 자료를 제시하는 것이다. 방법 : 20세 이상 성인 41명(남자: 28명, 여자: 13명)을 대상으로 사진, 트르뷰 아이, 안경자 및 스마트 센터링 장치 계측법을 이용하여 단안 동공 거리, 동공간거리, 광학중심점높이, 경사각, 안면각 및 정점간거리를 계측하고, 사진 계측법을 표준으로 정확도(오차)를 비교하였다. 또한, 오차 보정 식을 통하여 임상에서 적용하기 위한 보정 값 을 산출하였다. 결과 : 4가지 장비의 계측법을 비교했을 때 광학중심점높이와 경사각, 안면각 및 정점간거리는 유의한 차이가 있었다(p<0.050). 사진 계측법을 표준으로 한 보정 값에서 트르뷰 아이는 단안 동공 거리, 동공간거리, 광학중심점 높이, 경사각, 안면각 및 정점간거리의 상관계수가 높고 통계적으로 유의하였다(p<0.050). 안경자는 단안 동공 거 리, 동공간거리, 광학중심점높이 및 정점간거리는 상관계수가 높고 통계적으로 유의하였다(p<0.050). 스마트 센터 링 장치는 안면각에서 통계적으로 유의하였다(p<0.050). 보정 값에 대한 95% 신뢰구간은 단안 동공 거리에서 스마 트 센터링 장치가 좁은 범위와 적은 편차를 보였고, 다른 모든 매개변수는 트르뷰 아이에서 좁게 나타났고, 평균값 의 편차도 가장 적었다. 결론 : 4가지 측정 장비를 이용하여 안경 처방에 필요한 매개변수를 측정한 결과 측정 방법에 따라 차이가 있었 고, 임상에서 사진 측정값을 대신하여 적용할 수 있는 보정 값을 제시하였다.
목적 : 본 연구는 사진 계측법과 스마트 센터링 장치 계측법을 사용하여 누진 굴절력 렌즈 처방을 위한 누진대 길이와 매개변수 측정에 활용할 수 있는 자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 방법 : 사진 계측 장치를 이용하여 누진 굴절력 렌즈 처방에 필요한 매개변수인 광학 중심점 높이, 정점 간 거 리, 경사각, 안면각을 측정하였다. 또한 근거리 작업 자세를 분석하여 누진대 길이 처방에 참고 값으로 활용할 수 있는 하방 안구 이동량을 산출하였다. 이후 측정한 매개변수와 하방 안구 이동량을 스마트 센터링 장치를 이용하여 측정한 값과 비교하였다. 결과 : 원거리 및 근거리에서 나안으로 광원을 인지할 수 있는 시력 이상의 성인 남녀 25명을 대상으로 하였다. 사진 계측법을 이용하여 산출한 하방 안구 이동량은 평균 10.12±3.33 mm로 측정되었으며, 작업 거리가 짧아질수 록 길게 측정되었다(r=-0.418, p<0.050). 사진 계측법과 스마트 센터링 장치 측정법의 매개변수 측정값을 비교한 결과, 원거리 및 근거리 작업 거리에서 단안과 양안의 동공 중심 간 거리와 안면각은 통계학적으로 유의한 차이가 없었으나(p>0.050) 수직적인 머리 움직임에 영향을 많이 받는 광학 중심점 높이, 정점 간 거리, 경사각은 유의한 차이가 있었다(p<0.050). 하방 안구 이동량은 스마트 센터링 장치로 측정한 값이 9.67±1.99 mm로 사진 계측법 으로 측정한 값보다 0.46±3.35 mm 더 작게 측정되었으나, 통계학적으로 유의한 차이는 없었다(p>0.050). 결론 : 본 연구는 근거리 작업 자세와 하방 안구 이동량을 분석하고 사진 계측법과 스마트 센터링 장치 측정법 을 비교하여 누진 굴절력 렌즈 처방에 필요한 누진대와 매개변수 측정에 대한 기초 자료를 제시하였다.
Oral language comprehension (OLC) and vocabulary depth are widely recognized as key predictors of reading comprehension. However, research has either provided a limited representation of OLC or failed to acknowledge the distinctive predictive nature of vocabulary depth. This study investigates the combined contributions of OLC, conceptualized as a unified composite of foundational language variables and compares its effects on reading comprehension to vocabulary depth, while accounting for writing abilities. A total of 169 advanced Korean university EFL students were tested on listening comprehension, grammar knowledge, vocabulary breadth, vocabulary depth, and reading comprehension in English. SEM analyses revealed that both OLC and vocabulary depth made unique contributions to reading comprehension, with OLC demonstrating relatively stronger predictive power. Writing abilities did not show significant effects when OLC and vocabulary depth were considered in the same model. These findings underscore the independent predictive roles of OLC and vocabulary depth in L2 reading comprehension and highlight the importance of integrating these constructs into EFL pedagogical practices.
Fabry disease is an X-linked lysosomal storage disorder caused by GLA mutations, leading to a deficiency in α-Galactosidase A activity and subsequent accumulation of globotriaosylceramide (Gb3). This accumulation contributes to progressive multiorgan dysfunction, with cardiovascular complications, particularly endothelial dysfunction and left ventricular hypertrophy being major drivers of disease morbidity and mortality. Although enzyme replacement therapy is currently the standard treatment, its effectiveness is limited in addressing advanced cardiovascular pathology. To better understand Fabry-associated vascular and cardiac phenotypes, an isogenic human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) model in which GLA was knocked out was developed using CRISPR/ Cas9. GLA-knockout (GLA-KO) hiPSCs were differentiated into endothelial cells (ECs) and cardiomyocytes (CMs) to evaluate disease-relevant phenotypes in vitro . GLA-KO ECs exhibited normal morphology and differentiation capacity but showed markedly impaired tube formation, high expression of inflammatory genes ICAM1, VCAM1, and SELE, and increased mitochondrial and cytoplasmic reactive oxygen species levels. GLA-KO CMs demonstrated enlarged cell size and nuclear translocation of NFATC4, consistent with hypertrophic remodeling. Together, these findings recapitulate key features of Fabry vasculopathy and cardiomyopathy in a genetically defined, human-derived system. This platform enables direct investigation of Gb3-induced oxidative and inflammatory mechanisms and provides a valuable model for the preclinical evaluation of therapeutic strategies targeting the cardiovascular manifestations of Fabry disease.
목적 : 본 연구는 고등학생들이 학교에서의 장애 학생과 접촉 경험이 장애인에 대한 인식 및 관심에 미치는 영향을 알아보고 또한 시각장애 체험 프로그램의 유익성 평가에 미치는 영향에 대해 조사하고자 한다. 방법 : 비장애 고등학생(176명)을 대상으로 장애인에 대한 인식과 관심, 학교생활에서 접촉 경험 등에 관 한 설문조사를 진행하였으며, 시각장애 체험 장비를 활용하여 체험 프로그램을 진행 후 장애체험 관련 설문을 추가로 실시하였다. 자료 분석을 위하여 IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0을 통한 기술통계분석, 빈도분석, 다중회귀 분석 방법을 활용하였다. 결과 : ‘장애인에 대한 인식 및 관심’과 ‘시각장애 체험 프로그램 유익성 평가’ 와 관련된 세부 항목들에서 전반적으로 긍정적인 인식을 가지고 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 응답자의 학년이 높을수록, 장애 학생과 반에서 함께 생활 경험이 있는 응답자일수록 장애인에 대한 긍정적 인식이 높은 것으로 나타났다. ‘장애인에 대한 인 식’이 긍정적일수록 장애인에 대한 관심이 높은 것을 확인하였다. 응답자의 연령과 학년이 높을수록 시각장애 체험프로그램에 대한 평가가 긍정적으로 확인되었고, 장애 학생과 반에서 함께 생활한 경험이 없는 응답자일 수록 시각장애체험 프로그램에 대한 평가가 긍정적으로 나타났다. 결론 : 비장애 학생들의 장애인에 대한 인식과 관심이 전반적으로 긍정적이였으며 시각장애인과의 접촉 경 험이 적은 학생들에게 시각장애 체험프로그램을 적용 시 장애인에 대한 인식 및 관심을 제고시키는데 도움이 된다.
Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory condition primarily triggered by bacterial infections, with periodontopathogens such as Porphyromonas gingivalis playing a pivotal role. We evaluated the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of ethanol extract of Salvia plebeia R. Br. (SP-E) on human gingival fibroblasts (hTERT-hNOF) stimulated with P. gingivalis -derived lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Dried S. plebeia was extracted using 70% ethanol, yielding a 10.5% extract. Inflammation in hTERT-hNOF cells was induced using P. gingivalis LPS in conjunction with LPS-binding protein and CD14. SP-E was administered at concentrations ranging from 25 to 100 μg/mL. Antioxidant capacity was measured using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity assay. Inflammatory cytokine expression and secretion were analyzed via reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), respectively. Results demonstrated a concentrationdependent antioxidant effect, with 62.98% radical scavenging activity observed at 200 μg/mL SP-E. In hTERT-hNOF cells, SOD activity increased from 4.88% (LPS-treated) to 45.78% with 100 μg/mL SP-E. RT-PCR analysis showed significant downregulation of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, and IL-8 mRNA expression following SP-E treatment. ELISA confirmed a reduction in tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α (312.83 → 178.22 pg/mL), IL-6 (453.97 → 170.83 pg/mL), and IL-8 (480.14 → 276.86 pg/mL) levels with 100 μg/mL SP-E. These findings suggest that SP-E may offer therapeutic potential for preventing and managing periodontal disease by mitigating oxidative stress and modulating inflammatory cytokine expression. Further studies are warranted to elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms and validate these effects in vivo .
Stemflow (SF) is essential for water resources within forest ecosystems and can constitute up to half of the gross rainfall (GR), depending on the forest stand structures in coniferous plantations. Although numerous studies on SF yield have been reported globally for various forest types, very few studies on SF have been reported to examine the influence of forest stand structures on SF in Korea. This study aimed to quantify the relationship between SF and forest stand structures in unmanaged Japanese cypress plantations. Two study plots were established (10 m × 10 m each) in plantations with the same stem density (SD: 2500 stems ha-1) (hereafter P1 and P2). Almost all forest stand structures (canopy projection area, tree height, diameter at breast height (DBH), number of live and dead branches, and ratio of canopy length to canopy width), including canopy volume using mobile LiDAR devices, were investigated. To evaluate the efficiency of funneling rainwater for the effect of tree biomass on SF, a funneling ratio (FR) was used. The present SF ratios (20.7% in P1 and 22.3% in P2) were much higher than those reported in previous studies of various forest types in Korea (SF ratios: 0.2–5.8% with a mean of 2.0%). This is due to the interaction between the high SD and many under-canopy dead branches. Individual-scale FR was correlated with DBH (R2 = 0.43). The present stand-scale FRs (FRstand) (22.3 in P1 and 29.2 in P2) were much higher than those reported in the previous studies (FRstand: 1.0–33.3 with a mean of 7.8) because of the negative relationship between FRstand and mean DBH (R2 = 0.78, p = 0.02). Our results provide useful information for understanding changes in SF caused by forest stand structures.
Delayed wound healing in diabetes is aggravated by chronic inflammation and impaired keratinocyte migration. Although zinc facilitates skin wound healing, its excessive accumulation may induce cytotoxicity. This study explores the synergistic potential of zinc and the GPR39 agonist TC-G-1008 in enhancing diabetic wound repair. In vitro , cotreatment reduced lipopolysaccharide-induced pro-inflammatory cytokine expression and promoted keratinocyte migration. In vivo , a hydrogel incorporating zinc oxide nanoparticles and TC-G-1008 accelerated wound closure in diabetic mice and suppressed interleukin-1β expression. Notably, TC-G-1008 alone enhanced keratinocyte migration under diabetic conditions, highlighting its critical role in modulating inflammation. These findings support a zincsparing therapeutic approach using GPR39 activation to restore wound healing in diabetic settings.
Three strains (KCOM 2191, KCOM 2668, and KCOM 2812) of Capnocytophaga sp. isolated from a Korean population were initially classified by 16S rDNA sequence comparison. This study aimed to resolve their species-level identity using whole genome sequencing and to assess their taxonomic characteristics. Genomes of the three strains were sequenced using PacBio RS II and Illumina platforms. Average nucleotide identity (ANI) analysis was employed for species-level identification. Cellular fatty acid (CFA) compositions were determined using the MIDI/Hewlett Packard Microbial Identification System. ANI values for KCOM 2191, KCOM 2668, and KCOM 2812 were 96.43%, 96.33%, and 96.33%, respectively, compared with the type strain Capnocytophaga ochracea DSM 7271T. CFA profiling showed a predominance of iso-C15:0 (57.9%, 67.2%, and 64.9%, respectively), consistent with DSM 7271T (51.5%). These findings confirm that KCOM 2191, KCOM 2668, and KCOM 2812 are strains of C. ochracea . These strains may serve as valuable models for investigating the role of C. ochracea in oral and systemic pathogenesis.
This study evaluated the effects of solid and water-soluble extracts derived from torrefied Pinus densiflora on lettuce (Lactuca sativa) germination and growth, as well as the cultivation efficiency of torrefied materials combined with plant nutrient solutions. Torrefied samples were prepared under various conditions (200°C, 220°C, 240°C for 20–80 minutes) and mixed with sand at ratios from 20% to 100%. Liquid extracts were formulated with macronutrients (N, P, K, Mg) and micronutrients (Mn, B, Fe, Cu) and applied to leafy and root vegetables. Germination tests showed that 60% and 80% torrefied treatments had the highest and most consistent rates, with torrefied samples promoting more rapid and stable germination than controls. A two-way ANOVA indicated a significant interaction between treatment and concentration (p = 0.043), suggesting concentration-specific effects. While shoot length showed no significant difference, root growth was marginally significant (p = 0.064), with washed torrefied material producing the longest roots. Physical analysis revealed that torrefied materials improved soil thermal retention and moisture-holding capacity. However, increasing torrefied content reduced porosity, likely due to fine particles filling soil pores. In conclusion, torrefied P. densiflora materials exhibit strong potential to enhance germination, root development, and soil condition. Optimal results were achieved with 40–60% solid mixtures for germination and 60–80% diluted extracts for rapid and consistent seedling growth. When optimally applied, they may serve as effective, sustainable amendments in cultivation systems.
본 연구는 플랫폼 시대에 K-Culture가 한국의 소프트파워를 어떻게 형성하고 확장해 왔는지를 문화사회 학적 관점에서 분석하였다. 나이(Nye)의 소프트파워 이론과 부르디외(Bourdieu)의 문화장 이론을 토대로, K-Pop, 드라마, 디지털 콘텐츠, 팬덤, 국가 정책 간 상호작용을 고찰하였다. 팬덤의 사회운동화, 감정 서사 를 중심으로 한 콘텐츠, 플랫폼 알고리즘과 수용자의 문화 번역 사례를 통해 K-Culture가 감정, 기술, 정체 성 정치가 교차하는 복합적인 문화 실천임을 규명하였다. 아울러 플랫폼 종속, 콘텐츠 획일화, 팬덤 의존, 문화 다양성 부족 등 소프트파워의 구조적 한계를 진단하고, 윤리적 공감과 문화적 포용성에 기반한 지속 가능한 전략을 제안하였다.
This study explored the dual linguistic challenges experienced by Chinese international students enrolled in English-Medium Instruction (EMI) programs at South Korean universities. Drawing on semi-structured interviews with 20 undergraduate students from two leading private universities in Seoul, this study investigated how students navigate the linguistic demands of studying in English while simultaneously adjusting to Korean as the dominant campus language. The findings revealed that students encounter significant obstacles, including professors’ limited English proficiency, inconsistent classroom language policies, and marginalization in group work and class discussions. Despite these difficulties, many students gradually adapted through self-directed strategies and peer support, ultimately gaining academic and linguistic benefits. Some participants reported enhanced preparedness for further studies in English-speaking countries and developed bilingual competencies. The study highlights the complex realities of EMI implementation for non-Anglophone international students and calls for more transparent language policies, targeted support programs, and inclusive pedagogical practices to promote equitable learning environments.
This qualitative study examines amotivation in South Korean EFL students through the lens of activity theory. Using semi-structured interviews, data were collected from six elementary and secondary school students, aged 10 to 16 years (Grades 4 to 10), to explore key psychological constructs, including the ideal L2 self, the ought-to L2 self, the perceived meaning of English learning, parental expectations, and social pressures. The findings reveal that motivation in L2 learning is contextually constructed and often shaped retrospectively rather than serving as a precursor to proficiency. Notably, some students with minimal motivation still achieved high levels of English proficiency, suggesting that motivation is not necessarily an antecedent of L2 success but rather an outcome shaped by broader socioeducational forces. This challenges conventional models that assume a direct causal link between motivation and achievement. The study underscores the importance of contextual and sociohistorical influences in shaping L2 motivation and calls for a reevaluation of the rigid dichotomy between motivated and amotivated learners in competitive educational settings.
This study explores a church leader’s perceptions of language policy goals and cultural practices within a Korean-American church, as well as the changes prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Drawing on theories of ethnic churches, language planning and policy, and communicative frameworks of organizational identity, the study employs critical discourse analysis and thematic analysis. Data were collected through multiple qualitative methods, including participant observation of English and Korean worship services, two in-depth interviews, audio recordings, and artifact documentation. The findings highlight the dual role of first language and cultural practices in affirming both ethnic identity and Christian faith among Korean congregants. Furthermore, this research illuminates the integrative role of the church—both institutionally and socially—during a global crisis. The church leader’s motto, “Stay well and stay connected,” was expressed through linguistic and cultural adaptations that promoted a sense of belonging and positive identity amidst uncertainty.
