        In order to improve the management of food waste treatment facility, this study investigated the emission characteristics of odorous compounds around treatment process and deodorization equipment of three food waste treatment facilities(the transformation, feed production and composting facility). Furthermore, the removal experiment of odorous compounds using various absorbent was conducted. The odor concentrations of food waste storage hopper and separation process were higher than other processes and the major odorous compounds were methyl mercaptan, acetaldehyde, hydrogen sulfide and ammonia. The odor removal efficiencies of deodorization equipment such as activated carbon tower, wet scrubber and biofilter were mostly insufficient. Especially, the removal efficiency of wet scrubber is lower than the others, therefore the improvement of optimal operating condition is required. As a result of removal experiment of various absorbent, the removal efficiency was over 98% in case of 1% H₂SO₄+K₂HPO₄ for ammonia, KMnO₄ for acetaldehyde and KMnO₄ and 5% NaOH+KH₂PO₄ for hydrogen sulfide and methyl mercaptan. To achieve the effective odor control of food waste treatment facility, it is necessary increasing the removal efficiency of scrubber by using optimal absorbent for target odorous compounds.

        본 연구는 낙동장 하구역에 유입되거나 발생된 해안부유쓰레기의 거동특성을 파악하기 위해 2003년 태풍 "매미" 내습시 하구둑 최대 방류량을 조건으로 수치모형을 이용하여 해수유동장을 재현하고 제현된 유동장에 부유쓰레기로 대표되는 입자를 방출하여 입자들의 거동특성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 입자수치모의실험의 결과에 따르면 낙동강 하구역내 존재하는 부유쓰레기는 홍수유량시 72시간 경과시에 낙동강 하구역내 입자 분포 및 거동이 안정상태에 도달하였다. 공간상으로는 진우도를 포함한 가덕도 동측 해안의 경우 초기 33시간까지는 40%까지 증가하나 그 외 주변해역의 경우 20~40% 범위를 유지하였다.

        본 연구는 최근 우리나라에 영향을 미친 태풍 우사기(USAGI)와 나리(NARI) 내습시 낙동강 진우도 해안쓰레기량을 조사하여 그의 양, 종류 및 구성 성분을 평가하고, 수치모형실험을 통한 태풍 내습 파랑분포와의 상관성을 비교하였다. 그 결과에 따르면, (1) 태풍 내습시 낙동강 하구 진우도 해안쓰레기는 5,769/86kg/km2/day의 퇴적속도로 퇴적되는 것으로 산정되었다. 이는 평상시보다 약 14.42 배 많은 양이다. (2) 진우도 전면해역에서의 태풍 내습시 파고분포는 4.1-3.5m였으며, 진우도 전면해역이 도요등 전면해역보다 파고비가 약 1.0배에서 2.5배 상승하여, 파랑에너지의 집중도가 크고, 보다 많은 양의 부유물질(쓰레기)의 밀집이 예상된다.

        The odor emission characteristics in a food waste treatment plant, in terms of odor active compounds and odor unit concentration, were evaluated using an air dilution method and instrumental analysis method, respectively. A GC/MS analysis of the emission source was also carried out to investigate the effect of waste polymer incineration on the formation of organic materials. The result, as evaluated using the instrumental analysis method, showed that ammonia, acetaldehyde, dimethylsulfide and propionaldehyde were detected in high amounts from the outlet at "A" food waste treatment plant. The major odorous compounds, however, were acetaldehyde and metylmercaptan, which were derived using an odor quotient method. Limonene, benzene and toluene were also detected from the GC/MS analysis of the emission source. The criteria were 500 at the final outlet, 15 at the site boundary line, but the observed results were 10000 and 30, respectively.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate several aspects of eating out behavior especially in relation to food waste. The data were collected from 620 housewives in Jeonbuk area but, except for 134 case not eating out . The 66.9% of subjects ate eating out 1 to 2 times monthly. The younger in age, higher in education level and employed housewives, higher in monthly income have a more increase in eating out frequency. In the 50.8% of subjects food rest was rare when eating out. The higher in educational level and higher in monthly income have an inclination to more food waste. The 51.4% of subjects don't know [Good Menu System]. We housewives should order a planned and moderate food amount when eating out, and make an effort normally anywhere for the reduction of food waste, and then the wasted food and food rubbish will be reduced. Besides this, the restaurants should practice [Food Bank] & [Good Menu System] and the academic world should make further researches on this field. Moreover the government administration should enlighten the people and have a public information for the more reasonable food culture.

        This research was conducted to survey amounts of kitchen wastes disposed and to find method for reduction of the kitchen wastes. Questionnaires were developed. Survey was conducted in Korean style restaurants 1,292 in nationwide and recovery rate of questionnaires is 97.52%. Amounts of kitchen wastes disposed were calculated using programme developed in this research institute. As a results, wastes of food disposed in prepreparation phase large quantities is the vegetables. Wastes of fruits, fishes and shellfishes were disposed in large quantities, too. Amounts of wastes of boiled chicken with ginseng, Jeon-Gol, and rosted beef ribs in dishes were much due to refuse portion as bone. Wastes of kitchen are composed of food wastes 44%, dishes wastes 56% in nationwide in Korean style restaurants. Amounts of kitchen wastes disposed in Korean style restaurants are 28.33 kg in large city, 24 kg in small city and rural, respectively. Methods for the effective reduction of kitchen wastes in restaurants were suggested. Also, it is possible to utilize the kitchen waste as fertilizer or feed for animals but economic feasibility could cause problems.

        Raw leachates from three landfills and treated leachates from two landfills on Jeju Isalnd were analyzed for ten perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) detected in aquaruc environments. The leachates were collected six times in 2014 and 2015. Among the ten PFCs, three were not detected, namely perfluoroundecanoic acid (PFUnDA), perfluorododecanoic acid (PFDoDA), and perfluorodecane sulfonate (PFDS). The total concentrations of PFCs ranged as 724-3313 ng/L (mean 1999 ng/L) in raw leachates and from less than the limit of quantification (LOQ) to 394 ng/L (mean 133.2 ng/L) in treated leachates. The domonant compounds measured were perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) (mean contribution 37.7%) and perfluorobutane sulfonate (PFBS) (mean contribution 38.2%) in raw leachates, and PFOA (mean contribution 40.7%), perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA) (mean contribution 27.3%) and PFBS (mean contribution 26.5%) in treated leachates. No significant correlations were observed between total/several individual PFCs and leachate pH and CODCr, which may be due to complex chemical nature of landfill leachates and characteristics of waste and landfills.

        This study was performed to test the feasibility of thermophilic (55oC) co-digestion of municipal sewage sludge and food wastes. The management variables of co-digestion were the mixed ratios of municipal sewage sludge and food waste hydraulic retention times (HRTs). During the operation of thermophilic co-digestion, the reactor pH ranged from 7.0 to 7.5 and the reactor alkalinity remained above 3,200 to 4,000 mg/L as CaCO3. The volatile fatty acids concentration increased as the HRT shortened from 20 days to 10 days and the mixture ratio increased to 1:4, but did not reach toxic levels for co-digestion of sewage sludge and food wastes. Methane productivity increased gradually as the organic loading rate increased. Maximum methane productivity reached 1.03v/v-d at an HRT of 10 days and at the mixture ratio of 1:4. The TVS removal efficiency decreased from 70.6% to 58.3% as the HRT shortened from 20 days to 10 days. TVS removal efficiency ranged from 57.0% to 77% during the entire operation. It is likely that thermophilic co-digestion of sewage sludge and food wastes is a very effective method both to environmentally treat food waste and to economically produce gas for energy.

        Livestock manure treatments have become a more serious problem because massive environmental pollutions such as green and red tides caused by non-point pollution sources from livestock manures have emerged as a serious social issue. In addition, more food wastes are being produced due to population growth and increased income level. Since the London Convention has banned the ocean dumping of wastes, some other waste treatment methods for land disposal had to be developed and applied. At the same time, researches have been conducted to develop alternative energy sources from various types of wastes. As a result, anaerobic digestion as a waste treatment method has become an attractive solution. In this study has three objectives: first, to identify the physical properties of the mixture of livestock wastewater and food waste when combining food waste treatment with the conventional livestock manure treatment based on anaerobic mesophilic digestion; second, to find the ideal ratio of waste mixture that could maximize the collection efficiency of methane (CH4) from the anaerobic digestion process; and third, to promote CH4 production by comparing the biodegradability. As a result of comparing the reactors R1, R2, and R3, each containing a mixture of food waste and livestock manure at the ratio of 5:5, 7:3, and 3:7, respectively, R2 showed the optimum treatment efficiencies for the removal of Total Solids (TS) and Volatile Solids (VS), CH4 production, and biodegradability.

        본 연구에서는 음식물류폐기물 종량제 방식 중에 하나인 RFID(Radio frequency identification, 이하 RFID)기반 음식물류폐기물 관리시스템 중 개별계량방식을 사용하고 있는 공동주택의 음식물류폐기물 배출량을 조사하여 원단위를 파악하고자 본 시스템을 사용하고 있는 2년 이상 된 아파트 3곳을 조사하여 원단위를 분석하엿다. 그 결과, 아파트 2년간 1인당 1일 평균 원단위 발생량은 2016년에서 0.140kg/인/일, 2017년에 0.134kg/인/일로 산출되었으며, 2년 평균은 0.137kg/인/일로 나타났다. 계절별로는 봄<겨울<가을<여름의 순을 보였으며, 1년차보다 2년 차에 더 적은 원단위를 나타내었다. 가구원수가 적을수록 원단위가 높아지는 경향을 나타내었으며, 공급면적이 작을수록 높은 원단위를 보였다. 지금까지 생활수준이 높으면 발생량이 높다는 것과는 반대의 결과이며, 역으로 전술한 것과 같이 1인가구 등에서 발생량이 증가하는 경향과 같다. 본 결과 값들은 RFID 시스템에 기록된 2년간의 실질 데이터를 조사 및 분석한 신뢰성이 높은 데이터로서 향후 음식물류폐기물 정책 수립 시 유용한 기초자료로서 활용되기를 기대한다.

        대도시에서 핵가족화의 이유 등으로 1인 단독세대 증가가 매우 빠르게 진행되고 있다. 그러나, 1인 단독세대에서 발생하는 생활쓰레기와 재활용쓰레기 발생량 등은 구체적으로 조사 및 연구가 부족한 현실이다. 결국, 1인 단독세대의 생활쓰레기 발생증가와 함께, 원룸 등 소규모 세대, 특히 1인 가구에 대한 재활용율 증가를 위해서는 우선적으로 정확한 배출흐름과 성상별 조사, 그리고 왜 재활용량이 저조한가에 대한 현장조사가 중요하다. 1인 가구 증가에 의해 배출되는 생활쓰레기의 성상 및 종류는 기존의 대규모 가족거주 주택에서 배출되는 쓰레기와는 많은 차이가 있을 것으로 예상된다. 이에, 1인 가구 증가에 따른 재활용품 분리배출량 증가를 위한 현장조사 및 DB화 작업이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구는 대전시 5개 기초자치단체별로 원룸 등 1인 가구에 대하여 생활쓰레기와 재활용품에 대한 배출실태에 관한 기초 연구이다. 이를 위해 이번 연구에서는 1인 가구에서 배출되는 종량제쓰레기와 재활용량에 대한 배출실태, 1인가구의 생활쓰레기 배출실태의 문제 및 의식 등을 조사하였다. 구체적으로는 1인 가구 학생을 대상으로 직접 자가배출량을 실측 및 기입하였다. 또한 1인 가구 학생을 대상으로 인터뷰조사를 실시하였다. 그리고 대전시 5개 기초 자치단체별로 1인가구로 판단되는 원룸 주변을 현장 방문 조사하여, 1인가구인 원룸가의 생활폐기물 배출실태 및 현황 모니터링하였다.

        Biogas is a gaseous mixture produced from the microbial digestion of organic materials in the absence of oxygen. Raw biogas, depending upon organic materials, digestion time and process conditions, contains about 45 ~ 75% methane, 30 ~ 50% carbon dioxide, 0.1% hydrogen sulfide gas, and a fractional percentage of water vapor. To achieve the standard composition of the biogas, treatment techniques like absorption or membrane separation are performed for the resourcing of biogas. In this paper, the experiments are performed using biogas produced in an environmental digestion facility for food waste. The membrane module was imported from overseas, its membrane process has achieved up to 98% of the methane and 99% of the carbon dioxide separated, and it has manufactured and stored pressurized carbon dioxide. The effects of the feed pressures on the separation of CO2-CH4 by the membrane are investigated. A chelate was utilized to purify the methane from the H2S concentration of 0.1%.
