        De-icing salts applied to roads during winter enable safe driving conditions. However, these salts are eventually displaced to roadside areas at which they can negatively impact soil, vegetation, and water resources. This purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between foliar damage ratio (NY = 0-25%, SY = 26-50%, CY = 51-75%) on roadside trees (Ginko biloba) and seasonal impact of de-icing salts on soil and vegetation. Thirty roadside trees were selected at 8 m intervals between the Konkuk and Judeok intersections in Chung-ju city. The results reveal that seasonal soil acidity is relatively alkaline for foliar damage ratio of Ginko biloba was CY compared to NY. Also, electronic conductivity of each seasonal sampling was recorded as high in winter and spring, whereas the opposite trend is observed in summer. Various plants species were identified in abundance under roadside trees within NY roadside sections. These same species were observed in reduced numbers within CY sections. Strong negative correlations were identified between foliar damage ratio on roadside trees and vegetation. This relationship may be a method to use in predicting the accumulation of de-icing salt and visible injuries on roadside trees.

        In this study, the effect of probiotic supplementation on growth performance, blood metabolites, and meat quality of Hanwoo steer was investigated. A total of 32 Hanwoo steers (15-17 months, average body weight 462±37.9 kg) were randomly allotted to 4 dietary treatments (0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5% mixed probiotics), with four Hanwoo steers per pen (two replicates per treatments), and reared for 12 months. There were no differences among treatments in growth performance of Hanwoo steer (P>0.05); however, feed intake decreased linearly with increasing levels of mixed probiotics. Growth hormone and Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) levels responded linearly with increasing levels of dietary mixed probiotics (P<0.05), but not insulin and blood glucose did not. In particular, total cholesterol was significantly lower for the 1% mixed probiotic treatment in comparison with that of the other treatments (P<0.05). The pH, Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Substances (TBARS), cooking loss, and meat color were influenced by increasing levels of mixed probiotics (P<0.05), but the carcass characteristics and shear force were not. Regarding sensory evaluation, the addition of mixed probiotics resulted in significant difference in meat color, tenderness, aroma, off-flavor, juiciness, and marbling score, but not in overall acceptability. In addition, fatty acid profiles indicated no differences between control and mixed probiotic treatments. In conclusion, mixed probiotic treatment at 1% levels can enhance consumer preferences possibly by reducing cholesterol and TBARS.

        This study aimed to estimate the effects of replacing Mushroom By-Product (MBP) with Tofu By-Product (TBP) on the chemical composition, microbes, and rumen fermentation indices of Fermented Diets (FDs). The basal diet was formulated using MBP, TBP, rice bran, molasses, and inoculants. The MBP in the basal diet was replaced with TBP at 0, 5, and 10% on Dry Matter (DM) basis for the experimental diets. The experimental diets were fermented at 39°C for 144 h. Chemical composition, pH, microbes, and rumen fermentation indices of the FDs were analyzed. With increasing TBP replacement, crude protein content of FDs increased (L, P < 0.001), whereas crude ash content decreased (L, P = 0.002). Lactic acid bacteria and Bacillus subtilis contents in the TBP-replaced FDs were higher than those in the control (P < 0.05), whereas pH level and mold count were lower (P < 0.05). With increasing TBP replacement, in vitro rumen digestibility of DM (L, P = 0.053) and neutral detergent fiber (L, P = 0.024) increased, wheres rumen pH changed (P = 0.026) quadratically. Rumen total volatile fatty acid (L, P = 0.001) and iso-butyrate contents (Q, P = 0.003) increased with increasing TBP replacement. In conclusion, this study indicates that the replacement of MBP with TBP could improve the quality of FD.

        This study provides basic data for the cost operating strategy of forest welfare infra facilities. We use the Price-Sensitivity Measurement technique (PSM) for a forest welfare infra facility (healing forest, wood camping, forest leisure sport, etc.). In addition, we conduct a survey in the four target locations (Kyung-gi, Kyung-sang, Chung-cheong, and Jeolla) and receive answer from 390. The results show that higher the price of present infra facilities, higher the price sensibility. The forest welfare infra facilities we include are healing forest 1,894 won, wood camping 5,625 won, mtb park 9,530 won, mountain horseback riding 14,556 won, paragliding 20,252 won, mountain ski 3,075won. However, we investigate zip-lines at lower than current price levels.

        본 연구에서 마삭줄(Trachelospermum asiaticum var. intermedium Nakai)을 용매별과 ethanol 농도별로 추출한 결과, 용매별 추출에서 ethanol 추출물이 20.8 mg/g으로 가장 높은 phenolic compounds 용출량을 보였고, 농도별 추출에서 70% ethanol 추출물이 38.1 mg/g으로 가장 높았다. 물 추출물은 16.8 mg/g의 phenolic compounds 용출량을 보였다. 마삭줄을 물과 ethanol을 추출용매로 사용하여 항산화 효과와 항통풍 및 항당뇨 효과를 확인하여 건강 기능성 식품으로의 가능성을 증명 하고자 하였다. DPPH radical 소거능 측정 결과, 100 μg/mL phenolic compounds의 농도에서 물 추출물은 80.9%, 70% ethanol 추출물은 83.1%의 활성을 나타내었다. ABTS radical 소거능 측정 결과 200 μg/mL phenolic compounds의 농도에서 물 추출물은 95.0%, 70% ethanol 추출물은 95.8%의 소거능력을 나타내었다. PF 측정결과, 100 μg/mL phenolic compounds의 농도에서 물 추출물은 2.43 PF, 70% ethanol 추출물에서는 2.45 PF를 나타내었다. TBARs 측정 결과, 200 μg/mL phenolic compounds의 농도에서 물과 70% ethanol 추출물에서 89.9%와 89.3%의 활성을 나타내었다. 통풍 억제 효과 측정 결과, 200 μg/mL phenolic compounds의 농도에서 물 추출물은 33.3%, 70% ethanol 추출물은 50.5%의 저해 효과를 나타내었다. α-glucosidase 저해 효과 측정 결과, 물 추출물에는 저해 효과가 나타나지 않았고, 70% ethanol 추출물에서는 200 μg/mL phenolic compounds의 농도에서 92.6%의 저해 효과를 나타내었다. 이러한 결과들로 미루어 보았을 때 마삭줄 추출물은 항산화 작용과 건강 기능성 식품으로 활용 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.

        The Infrared-Thermography Technique is widely used for nondestructive evaluation (NDE) of structures due to its convenience. Particularly, various techniques have been tried to detect imperfections such as surface defects and welding defects of steel structures. This paper is a part of a study to detect defects in weld zone in steel structures using Infrared Thermography techniques. Finally, defects were detected by comparing infrared thermal image and surface temperature data of defected area with healthy area.

        The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of horticultural therapy program introducing logotherapy to relieve senior citizens from loneliness and helplessness. 24 senior citizens registered in C Senior Welfare Center located in Chung-cheongbuk-do were selected to be subject of this study. 12 senior citizens were assigned to the experimental group and went through a horticultural therapy program, the other 12 senior citizens were assigned to the control group, and no specific program was applied. As a result, the experimental group which went through a horticultural therapy program shown a statistical significance in relieving their loneliness and helplessness, while the control group did not show any statistical significance. In this respect, this study concludes that horticultural therapy introducing logotherapy, can be useful for senior citizens to relieve their loneliness and helplessness.

        Antigen production in plant is a safe and effective strategy for vaccine development. In this study, rice transformants were developed for oral vaccine against pigs diarrhea disease. DNA cassette composed with the cholera toxin subunit B (CTB) connected to the 987P-fasG, for stimulating a strong oral immune response, was introduced to rice through Agrobacterium mediated genetic transformation. Copy number analysis by TaqMan real-time PCR for transgenes revealed that transgene of 1 to 8 copies have been introduced into T1 and T2 rice seeds. The expression level of mRNA in the transformants T1 and T2 generations were up to 35 times higher than the reference value in the result of analysis by Quantitative real time-PCR. In addition, the callus cultured from rice transformants was confirmed that the introduced gene has been maintained till 9-month subculture duration. The amount of mRNA expression value was also confirmed in callus, which was maintained above 2.6 times compared with that of the standard control for a long time. These results provide that the introduced antigen for plant-based vaccine against bacterial diarrhea disease can be maintained in the callus as well as in the transgenic plant and suggest that the callus culture of plant transformant will be an effective way to obtain a plant-derived edible vaccine.

        Based on the study of considering thickness and diameter of the panel it was found that bigger the diameter of panel more efficient for support the water pressure and less displacement. It was found that rise depth had little influence for stress and displacement at small embossed panel. Also the biggest stress occured along the side of the embossed panel.

        The water tanks are widely used for the safe storage of potable water, which are installed on either the basement or the top floor inside of the buildings. Therefore, the water tank systems assembled with many unit panels are generally adopted and the rectangular plan water tanks are most popular. To resist the water pressure acting on the side walls of tanks the internally reinforced system using metal tie-bars has been most commonly used. However, many problems related to the lattice internal reinforcement system require the development of the externally reinforced water tank, which does not have any latticed tie bars inside the tank. In this study two different systems have been developed using the external steel frames with either the SMC water tank panels or the PosMAC(coated steel) water tank panels. The experimental tests have been performed under the static hydraulic loadings as well as the seismic loadings through the shaking table test.

        The natural environment plays an important role not only in ecological sustainability, but also in human health. Growing attention has been focused on the health benefits of natural environments with increasing scientific evidence in this field. Urban green space has positive effects on individual and community health; thus, it is considered as social infrastructure. The natural environment promotes mental health by relieving psychological stress and depression. Physical health can be improved by experiencing nature, which reduces physiological stress and boosts the immune system. Several international initiatives have been undertaken to improve our understanding in this field and to utilize these benefits for health promotion. Interdisciplinary approaches are needed to promote human health through the natural environment in the fields of science, education, planning and policy.

        This study aims to identify the beneficial effects of forest experience on emotional changes in young children who are exposed to smartphones in daily life. This research was conducted on 41 children aged five and six years at a kindergarten in Chungcheongnamdo province. The children participated in a five-month forest experience program, conducted twice a week. Before beginning the study, its purpose and procedure were explained to the children's parents and kindergarten teachers, after which written content was collected. Before and after the five-month experience, questionnaires about smartphone use and emotional conditions were administered through the parents. The participants were divided into two groups, namely average-use and high-use groups, depending on the smartphone addiction proneness score. It was found that negative psychological subscales such as anxiety, impulse, and depression decreased following the five-month forest experience in both groups. Positive psychological attitudes such as sociability and creativity increased significantly after the forest experience. The high-use group showed a wider range of positive changes compared to the average-use group. Accordingly, forest experiences can be used as an effective solution for smartphone addiction problems among young children.

        Barley yellow mosaic virus (BaYMV) is transmitted by a root-inhabiting Polymyxa graminis (P. graminis) and thus the disease is called “soil-borne”. In this study, the presence of P. graminis was confirmed by PCR test based on specific sequences of P. graminis type Ⅰ (P. graminis f. sp. temperata) Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS). P. graminis was detected in the BaYMV infected soil and root of barley plants. The monitoring of P. graminis was conducted in March 2015 in 8 korean provinces. It was detected in the soil of all collected regions. This is the first report on a P. graminis a survey of Korea.

        본 연구는 폐기되는 돈혈을 식품소재로 활용하고자 단백 질 가수분해효소 5종을 처리하여 품질특성 변화를 조사하 였다. 그 결과 KMFP-15(E)로 가수분해할 때 pH 7.3, 총 고형분 함량 24.3 oBrix 및 유리아미노산 함량 4,944 mg%로 가장 높은 고형분 함량 및 유리아미노산 함량을 나타내었 다. KMFP-15(E) 농도에 따른 영향을 조사한 결과 처리농도 가 증가함에 따라 총 고형분 함량 및 유리아미노산이 증가 하였으며, 유리아미노산은 KMFP-15(E) 0.2% (w/v)첨가구 에서 7,224 mg%로 0.3% (w/v)첨가구와 유의적인 차이를 나타내지 않아 0.2% (w/v)로 설정하였다. KMFP-15(E)의 가수분해 시간에 따라 유리아미노산 함량은 4시간에서 7,404 mg%로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 시간이 경과할수록 감소하는 경향을 보여 최적 가수분해시간은 4시간으로 설 정하였다. 상기 설정된 가수분해 조건을 통해 제조된 돈혈 분말(PBHP)에는 조단백질 및 아미노산과 철분, 칼륨, 아연 등 다량의 무기질이 함유되어 있는 것으로 나타났으며 특 히, 철분의 함량은 1,983 mg%로 높게 나타나 식품소재로 활용 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과 폐기되는 돈혈 의 활용방안으로 다양한 가수분해조건중 효소 KMFP- 15(E) 0.2% (w/v)를 첨가하여, 4시간에서 가수분해 하였을 때 전반적 품질 특성이 가장 우수하여 향후 돈혈을 이용해 단백질 보충, 아미노산소재 및 철분강화제 등의 식품 및 의약품 소재로의 고부가가치 창출이 가능할 것으로 판단되 었다.

        본 연구는 선행 연구된 삼채뿌리의 뛰어난 영양성을 토 대로 기능성 식품소재로의 이용가능성을 확인하고 활용도 를 높이고자 국내산 및 미얀마산 삼채뿌리의 항산화 및 생리활성을 측정하였다. 삼채뿌리의 총 폴리페놀과 총 플 라보노이드 함량은 국내산 삼채뿌리가 각각 5.27 mgGAE/g, 0.35 mgQE/g, 미얀마산 삼채뿌리가 각각 4.80 mgGAE/g, 0.24 mgQE/g으로 국내산 삼채뿌리가 더 높은 함량을 나타 냈다. 삼채뿌리의 항산화력을 측정한 결과 DPPH 라디칼 소거능은 미얀마산이 더 높은 활성을 보였지만, ABTS 라디 칼 소거능과 Fe2+ 킬레이팅 활성, 환원력은 국내산이 더 높은 활성을 보였다. α-Glucosidase 저해활성은 국내산의 저해활성이 미얀마산 삼채뿌리의 저해활성보다 더 높았으 며 대조구인 acarbose에 비해서도 우수한 저해활성을 보였 다. Acetylcholinesterase 저해 활성을 측정한 결과, 50 mg/mL 농도에서 국내산 삼채뿌리가 51.44%로 44.33%의 저해활성을 보인 미얀마산 삼채뿌리보다 더 높은 저해활성 을 보였다. 본 연구를 통해 삼채뿌리 특히 국내산 삼채뿌리 는 높은 항산화 활성, α-glucosidase 및 acetylcholinesterase 저해 활성을 보여 혈당조절제, 치매예방 및 개선제로써의 활용가능성이 큰 것으로 확인되었으며, 이로써 기능성 식 품소재로의 활용이 증가될 것으로 판단된다. 하지만 향후 국내산 삼채의 우수성을 검증하기 위하여 여러 지역에서 재배된 삼채의 기능성 분석이 필요할 것으로 판단된다

        Virus disease surveys on barley cultivation areas in Jeonnam ․ Jeonbuk ․ Gyungnam ․ Gyungbuk-do were conducted during 2014-2015. In this study, we detected Barley yellow mosaic virus (BaYMV), Barley mild mosaic virus (BaMMV) and Soil-borne wheat mosaic virus (SBWMV) by RT-PCR from barley leaves. These viruses are of great economic importance for wheat and barley, causing significant quantitative and qualitative losses in yield. The result of investigation showed that the field incidence of BaYMV in Buan, Gimje was more than 90% in 2014. The infection field rate of barley virus including Boseong, Gangjin, Haenam, Jangheung in Jeonnam was ≈ 30%. In 2014, double infections by BaYMV and BaMMV was detected in Boseong, Gangjin, Haenam and Jangheung. Only as a low rate BaYMV occurred in various fields of Jeonbuk in 2015. At the same time high infection field ratio of 70% was observed in Gunsan. Also in Yeonggwang was double infection of BaYMV and BaMMV. BaYMV occurred single infection has been confirmed in all of the study area of Gyungbuk and Gyungnam except for Goseong during the investigation period.

        정상적으로 포장되어 출하되지 못하는 폐캡슐의 가장 큰 원인중 하나는 캡슐 수분함량에 의해 결정된다. 수분함량이 16% 이상일 경우 캡슐 변형 및 Sticky가 발생되기 쉬운 상태가 되어 불량이 된다. 또한 12.5% 이하인 경우에도 캡슐이 수축되고 해지기 쉬운 상태가 되기 때문에 가장 좋은 수분 조건은 12.5 ~ 16.0% 이다. 폐캡슐 발생에 따른 문제점은 환경오염 문제를 야기 시킨다는 점이다. 매립이나 소각을 시킬 경우 젤라틴 및 충진물 혹은 색소제 등이 함유되어 있기 때문에 토양 또는 대기오염원이 될 가능성이 높으며 95% 이상 수입되고 있는 캡슐의 원료인 젤라틴과 같은 유기성 물질의 손실 때문에 자원 및 비용이 낭비되게 된다. 현재 국내기술로 현장에서 발생하는 폐캡슐을 전량 재활용하는 곳은 없으며 시급히 대안이 만들어져야 하는 실정이다. 그 동안의 사전연구를 통해 회수된 젤라틴에 대한 평가 결과를 아래 표에 나타내었다. 점도와 밀도에서는 문제가 없었지만 색도부분이 너무 탁하게 나와 불순물이 다량 함유되어 있는 것으로 판단되며 이는 결국 수율에도 영향을 주는 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 따라서 본 과제에서는 그 동안의 사전연구를 토대로 장치를 Scale-up하여 현장에 구축한 후 운전조건을 확립하고 발생처 및 수요기업과의 자원순환 네트워크 구축을 통해 폐캡슐을 정제하여 접착제 원료로 회수하는 정치를 사업화할 수 있는 기틀을 마련하고자 하였다.
