        In this study, we experimented that how to synthesis waterborne urethane-acrylic hybrid resin for leather coatings. First of all, We had analyzed data by FT-IR, SEM and TGA for the machanical properties. By TGA analysis polymers showed heat distortion temperature. and by FT-IR measurement we confirmed that synthesis of urethane and acrylic. In the experiment, solvent resistance, polyurethane and acrylic grades 4-5 showed both a high. Tensile strength measured in the waterborne polyurethane 〉 Acrylic emulsion showed strength in the order. Films were obtained by coating the water born resin on leveled surfaces and allowing them to dry at room temperature for 72hrs. After demolding, the films were kept in a desiccator to avoid moisture contant at 25℃ for 45hrs before the measurements. In this result, the mechanical propersies of waterborne polyurethane-acrylic hybrid resin showed that how effect to resin in leather coating between polyurethane content and acrylic content. Therefore, acrylic emulsion had most high solvent resistance glade and waterborne polyurethane had good result in abrasion test and tensile strength.

        아크릴폐수를 광촉매로 전처리하여 막오염인자를 최소화한 후 막조합공정에 적용하였다. 한외여과막과 정밀여과막을 역삼투막과 조합을 이루어 막조합공정을 구성하였으며 광촉매처리수를 온도 및 압력변화에 따라 막조합공정에 적용하여 분리특성을 확인하였다. 정밀여과막 모듈 혹은 한외여과막 모듈의 투과수는 역삼투모듈로 보내지며 역삼투 모듈의 최종적인 투과량은 모듈 set 2 (MWCO 200,000 UF+RO)의 역삼투 모듈이 우수하였다. UF 및 MF 모듈에서 TDS, T-N 및 COD의 제거효율은 온도 및 압력변화에 영향을 받지 않고 제거효율 또한 낮음을 알 수 있었다. 그러한 결과로 RO 모듈에서 TDS, T-N 및 COD가 우수한 제거효율을 보였다. UF 및 MF모듈에서의 탁도 제거효율은 우수한 경향(제거효율 99% 이상)을 보였다. 막조합공정에서 처리된 광촉매처리수는 배출 허용기준치를 충족하고, 재활용이 가능하였다.

        This study investigated dry etching of acrylic in capacitively coupled SF6, SF6/O2 and SF6/CH4 plasma under a low vacuum pressure. The process pressure was 100 mTorr and the total gas flow rate was fixed at 10 sccm. The process variables were the RIE chuck power and the plasma gas composition. The RIE chuck power varied in the range of 25~150 W. SF6/O2 plasma produced higher etch rates of acrylic than pure SF6 and O2 at a fixed total flow rate. 5 sccm SF6/5 sccm O2 provided 0.11μm/min and 1.16μm/min at 25W and 150W RIE of chuck power, respectively. The results were nearly 2.9 times higher compared to those at pure SF6 plasma etching. Additionally, mixed plasma of SF6/CH4 reduced the etch rate of acrylic. 5 sccm SF6/5 sccm CH4 plasma resulted in 0.02μm/min and 0.07μm/min at 25W and 150W RIE of chuck power. The etch selectivity of acrylic to photoresist was higher in SF6/O2 plasma than in pure SF6 or SF6/CH4 plasma. The maximum RMS roughness (7.6 nm) of an etched acrylic surface was found to be 50% O2 in SF6/O2 plasma. Besides the process regime, the RMS roughness of acrylic was approximately 3~4 nm at different percentages of O2 with a chuck power of 100W RIE in SF6/O2 plasma etching.

        To prepare a solution type acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive, quarter polymers were synthesized from butyl acrylate(BA), 2-ethylhexylacrylate(2-EHA) as a base monomer, methyl methacrylate(MMA) as a comonomer, each of methacrylic acid(MAA), acrylic acid(AA) as a functional monomer. Acrylic solution type pressure-sensitive adhesives(PSA's) of isocyanate derivative crosslinking PSA's were prepared by crosslinking of BEMM, BEMA with toluene-2,4-diisocyanate. The structure of adhesive was identified by FT-IR. The viscosity was measured by using Brookfield DV-III and molecular weight was measured by using gel permeation chromatography. The physical properties of polyethylene film coated with BEMMT, BEMAT were measured as a function of the concentration. As the result, BEMMT(0.6, 0.8), BEMAT(0.6) showed peel adhesion of 160~180 gf/25 mm width and shear adhesion of more than 24 hours, and tackiness of 4/32~6/32 which was relevant to commercial usage.

        The acrylic coating emulsions were prepared by the emulsion polymerization to protect the surface of steel plate from the corrosion chemicals like acid, base and salt water. MMA(methyl methacrylate), styrene, BA(butyl acrylate), and 2-HEMA(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) were used as monomer. KPS(potassium persulfate) and SBS(sodium bisulfite) as redox initiator and SDBS(sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate) as emulsifier were used on the emulsion polymerization reaction. The most stable in-situ coating was obtained when 10% of MMA was added. Both particle size and quantity in emulsion were decreased as increasing the mount of SDBS. the most stable prepared coating emulsion with polyisocyanate crosslinker showed very high anticorrosion properties on the coated steel layer to salt water, whereas no significant improvement of anticorrosion property to acdic and basic condition it showed.

        In order to synthesize high-solid coatings, acrylic resins (HSAs) containing 90% solid content were first synthesized, then the synthesized HSAs were cured with a curing agent, isocyanate, at room temperature to obtain high-solid coatings. In the HSAs synthesis, conversion was in a range of 82~87%, and viscosities and number-averaged molecular weight (Mn) of the HSAs were in a range of 4380~8010 cP and 1540~1660, respectively. From the correlation between Tg value, viscosity and Mn, it was found that, with increasing Tg value, viscosity increases rapidly and molecular weight increases slowly. From the visco-elasity measured by the pendulum method, it was found that the curing time decreased with increasing Tg values. From the tests of physical properties of the coatings' film, 60˚ specular gloss, impact resistance and heat resistance were proved to be good and pencil hardness, drying time and pot-life were proved to be poor.

        To prepare weather-resistant modified silane acrylic resin coatings for an architectural purpose, tetrapolymers were synthesized by radical polymerization. 3-Methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTS) as a silicone monomer and n-butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, and n-butyl methacrylate as acrylic monomers were used. The composition of monomers was adjusted to fix the glass transition temperature of acrylic polymer for 20℃. The composition of MPTS in the synthesized polymer were varied from 10 wt% to 30 wt%. On the basis of synthesized resin amber paints were prepared and their physical properties and effects on weatherability were examined. The presence of MPTS in modified silane acrylic resins generally resulted in low molecular weight and broad molecular weight distribution, and also lowered the viscosity of the copolymers. The coated films prepared from these resins showed good and balanced properties in general. Adhesion to the substrate was outstanding in particular. Weatherability tests were carried out in three different types such as outdoor exposure, QUV, and SWO. The test results showed that the modified silane acrylic resins containing 30 wt% of MPTS had superior weathering properties.

        아크릴 폐수를 응집-여과-중화의 전처리 공정에 적용하여 막오염 인자를 최소화 한 후 UF/RO 공정에 적용하였다. 막의 형태 및 종류에 따라 한외여과 및 역삼투 모듈을 조합을 이루어 전처리 수를 온도 및 압력변화에 따라 적용하여 분리 특성을 고찰하였다. 투과 플럭스는 모듈 set 1의 UF모듈보다 모듈 set 4의 UF모듈의 투과량이 약 2~3배 더 많이 배출됨을 확인하였다. 최종적인 투과량은 관형모듈과 조합을 이룬 모듈 set 2와 모듈 set 3이 좋은 결과를 나타내었다. 모든 UF 모듈에서 TDS, T-N 및 COD의 제거 효율은 온도 및 압력변화에 영향을 받지 않고 제거 효율 또한 낮음을 알 수 있었다. RO모듈에서 TDS, T-N 및 COD가 우수한 제거 효율을 보였다. 아크릴 폐수의 최종적인 수질결과는 공장폐수의 배출 허용기준을 만족하였고, 막모듈 조합은 폐수의 재활용 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.

        We investigated dry etching of acrylic (PMMA) in O2/N2 plasmas using a multi-layers electrode reactive ion etching (RIE) system. The multi-layers electrode RIE system had an electrode (or a chuck) consisted of 4 individual layers in a series. The diameter of the electrodes was 150 mm. The etch process parameters we studied were both applied RIE chuck power on the electrodes and % O2 composition in the N2/O2 plasma mixtures. In details, the RIE chuck power was changed from 75 to 200 W.% O2 in the plasmas was varied from 0 to 100% at the fixed total gas flow rates of 20 sccm. The etch results of acrylic in the multilayers electrode RIE system were characterized in terms of negatively induced dc bias on the electrode, etch rates and RMS surface roughness. Etch rate of acrylic was increased more than twice from about 0.2μm/min to over 0.4μm/min when RIE chuck power was changed from 75 to 200 W. 1 sigma uniformity of etch rate variation of acrylic on the 4 layers electrode was slightly increased from 2.3 to 3.2% when RIE chuck power was changed from 75 to 200 W at the fixed etch condition of 16 sccm O2/4 sccm N2 gas flow and 100 mTorr chamber pressure. Surface morphology was also investigated using both a surface profilometry and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The RMS roughness of etched acrylic surface was strongly affected by % O2 composition in the O2/N2 plasmas. However, RIE chuck power changes hardly affected the roughness results in the range of 75-200 W. During etching experiment, Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) data was taken and we found both N2 peak (354.27 nm) and O2 peak (777.54 nm). The preliminarily overall results showed that the multi-layers electrode concept could be successfully utilized for high volume reactive ion etching of acrylic in the future.

        Three different weather-resistant coatings were fabricated with the various weight ratios of a mill-base silicone/acrylic resin to let-down silicone /acrylic resin at 2:8, 3:7, and 4:6 respectively. The prepared coatings were tested to investigate the effect of composition of weather-resistant coatings on the physical properties. The thermal stability, salt spray exposure, and weather-resistance were improved with the increased silicone content. It was concluded that the optimum retio of mill-base silicone/acrylic resin to let-down silicone/acrylic resin would be 2:8 and the coating with 30 wt% of silicone content would have high weather-resistance.

        In order to prepare high-solid coatings, acrylic resins, HSCs [poly (EA/EMA/2-HEMA/CLA)] that contain 90% solid, were synthesized by copolymerization of ethyl acrylate (EA), ethyl methacrylate (EMA), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (2-HEMA) and caprolactone acrylate (CLA). The high-solid coatings named as CHSCs (HSCs/HDI-trimer) were prepared by the curing reaction between the acrylic resins containing 90% solid contents and the isocyanates (HDI-trimer) curing agent room temperature. The curing behavior and various properties were examined on the film coated with the both high-solid coatings. The glass transition temperatures (Tg) of CHSCs increased proportionally with increasing the predicted Tg value by Fox equation, and had nothing to do with the solid contents. The prepared film showed good properties for 60˚ specular gloss, impact resistance, cross-hatch adhesion and heat resistance, and bad properties for pencil hardness, drying time, and pot-life. Among the film properties, the heat resistance was very excellent and could be explained by the introduction of functional monomers of CLA.

        In order to prepare high-solid coatings, first acrylic resins (HSAs) which contain 80% solid were synthesized, and then the prepared resins were cured with isocyanate at room temperature. In the synthesis of HSAs, viscosity, number average molecular weight (Mn) and conversion were 1372~2700 cps, 1520~1650 and 83~87%, respectively. Among the four kinds of initiators used, tert-amylperoxy-2-ethyl hexanoate was the most proper one in the synthesis of HSAs. With increasing Tg values, viscosity increased rapidly and molecular weight increased slowly. As a result of the examination of coated films, it was found that 60˚ specular gloss, impact resistance, heat resistance and cross-hatch adhesion were good, and pencil hardness, drying time and pot life were poor.

        Acrylic adhesives for automobiles protection were prepared by emulsion polymerization. Monomers used were n-butyl acrylate(BA), acrylonitrile (AN), butyl methacrylate(BMA), glycidyl methacrylate(GMA), and acrylic acid (AA). Emulsifiers used were sodium lauryl sulfate and polyoxyethylene lauryl ether, which are an anionic emulsifier and a nonionic emulsifier respectively. Potassium persulfate was used as an initiator and polyvinyl alcohol was used as a stabilizer. Emulsion polymerization was carried out in a semi-batch reactor at 70℃ and agitation speed was kept at 200 rpm. Water resistance, heat resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance and smoke resistance were examined. As a result, when each 0.03 mole of GMA and AA was introduced, the adhesion properties and various above mentioned resistances of the prepared adhesives were satisfied the standard for automobiles.

        The high-solid coatings were prepared by blending the synthesized acrylic resin in the previous paper, and hexamethylene diisocyanate-trimer and curing it at room temperature. The characterization of the films of the prepared coatings was performed. The 60˚ specular gloss, impact resistance, cross-hatch adhesion, and heat resistance of the films proved to be good, and the pencil hardness, drying time, and pot-life proved to be slightly poor. From a viscoelastic measurement using a rigid-body pendulum, curing was accelerated with the Tg value.

        Acrylic resins (HSCs : EA/EMA/2-HEMA/CLA) which contain 80% solid content were synthesized by the copolymerization of monomers (ethyl acrylate, ethyl methacrylate, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) and functional monomer (caprolactone acrylate : CLA) which improves the crosslinking density and physical properties of films. The physical properties of the prepared acrylic resins (HSCs) containing CLA, are as follows: viscosity 1440~2630 cps ; Mn 1590~1660 ; and conversions, 81~86%, respectively. From the correlation of Tg values, viscosities, and Mn of the HSCs, it was found thst viscosity and Mn increased with Tg value.

        In the previous study, three kinds of monomers and the functional monomer, acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate (AAEM), which could improve the film property and cross-linkage, were polymerzied into acrylic resin copolymers (HSA-98-20, HSA-98-0, HSA-98+20) containing 80% solid content. In this study, the high-solid coatings(HSA-98-20C, HSA-98-0C, HSA-98+20C) were prepared by the curing reaction between acrylic resins containing 80% solid content and isocyanate at room temperature. Various properties were examined for the film coated with the prepared high-solid coatings. The introduction of AAEM in the coatings enhanced the abrasion resistance and solvent resistance of coatings, which indicated the possible use of high-solid coatings for top-coating materials of automobile. The curing times measured by viscoelastic measurement were 350, 264, and 212 min for HSA-98-20C, HSA-98-0C, and HSA-98+20C, respectively. This shows that the curing times become shorter with increasing Tg values.

        Copolymers (HSA-98-20, HSA-98-0, HSA-98+20) which are acrylic resin containing 80% solid content were synthesized by the reaction of monomers, including methyl methacrylate, n-butyl acrylate, and 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate with a functional monomer, such as acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate (AAEM), which may improve in cross-linking density and physical properties of films. The physical properties of prepared acrylic resins, containing AAEM, are as follows : viscosity, 1420~5760cps ; number average molecular weight, 2080~2300 ; polydispersity index, 2.07~2.19 ; conversions, 88~93%, respectively. To prepare acryl resins, four kinds of initiators including α,α'-azobisisobutyronitirile (AIBN), di-tert-butyl peroxide (DTBP), t-amylperoxy-2-ethyl hexanoate (APEH), benzoyl peroxide (BPO) were used. The viscosity of the acrylic resins prepared with these initiators was increased in the order of DTBP〉APEH〉AIBN〉BPO. APEH was proved as a suitable initiator in this study. Shear rates of acrylic resins were constant in respect to viscosity. From these results, it would appear that the resins have Newtonian flow characteristics and good workability.
