        Treponema denticola is a gram-negative anaerobe that can cause periodontal disease. The adhesion of this bacterium to host tissues is considered to be the primary event in the colonization and infection of a host. Fibrinogen is generally found in damaged tissues resulting from periodontitis. The binding ability of T. denticola to fibrinogen may therefore be an important virulence factor in inducing periodontal diseases. It has been reported recently that oral spirochetes can be labeled with fluorescent fatty acids and we speculated that this labeling method could be used in an oral spirochete binding assay. The binding of several different strains of T. denticola to immobilized human fibrinogen was therefore tested using the fluorescent fatty acid labeling method. In the case of immobilized fibrinogen, the T. denticola ATCC 35405 strain showed saturable binding to immobilized fibrinogen. Indeed, all four different T. denticola strains tested in this experiment, T. denticola ATCC 35405, T. denticola ATCC 33520, T. denticola ATCC 35404 and T. denticola OTK showed binding to fibrinogen. The fluorescent fatty acid labeling method thus shows utility in binding assays for T. denticola, different strains of which can generally bind to immobilized fibrinogen.

        The compulsory beef labelling system has launched from January 1st 2007 by the amended Food Hygiene Law, we were checked the actual conditions of beef origin with a nationwide scale by the Hanwoo differentiation specific test method which was developed by Korea FDA using 90 SNP biomarkers. The test method is useful tool to differentiate the beef origin carrying out the mission of KFDA's annual food safety management guidance. Also we have technically transferred the Hanwoo differentiation specific test method to other institutes as well regional KFDA and established the training program as a regular course in Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare. The beef used in this study were collected according to the 2009 Food safety guidance in roast beef restaurants where business site area greater than 100 m2. Total 216 samples were consisted of 48samples of the Seoul area and 168 of the region. The monitoring result from restaurants in all the region of Korea showed that 3 of 216 Hanwoo-labelled beefs were found out as a non-Hanwoo (1.3%). This results are gradually deceasing trend compared with 34.0% in 2005, 30.1% in 2006, 3.2% in 2007 and 5.14% in 2008. From these data, the Hanwoo differentiation specific test method on the settlement of the compulsory beef labelling system has an important role. As a outcome of this project, we might be considered the early settlement of the compulsory beef labelling system, technically transferred to other institutes and the establishment of regular training program of the test method.

        Oral spirochetes are anaerobes known as one of causative agents for periodontal diseases. In this study, we investigated the possibility of utilizing fluorescent fatty acids for labeling oral spirochetes. Bacterial labeling was standardized with three different lengths of fluorescent fatty acids: 5-octadecanoylaminfluorescein (OAF), 5-dodecanoylamin-fluorescein (DAF), and 5-hexadecanoylaminfluorescein (HAF). Among these fatty acids, OAF showed the best labeling activity. Treponema denticola ATCC 35405 was totally saturated to the maximum when incubated with OAF 1μM/mℓ for 1 hour. Treponema vincentii LA-1 also increased in fluorescence in proportion to incubation time length and the concentration. In conclusion, these findings showed the possibility that the fluorescent fatty acid can be used for labeling oral spirochetes.

        본 연구는 건강기능식품에 대한 소비자 연구를 통하여 신뢰도를 향상시키기 위한 표시 제도를 제안하기 위해 수행되었다. 소비자가 쉽게 건강기능식품을 확인할 수 있도록 공모를 통하여 인증마크를 개발하고 소비자 조사를 실시하였다. 조사대상자는 대도시, 중소도시 등 2000명으로 하여 1:1 면접조사를 실시하였다. 조사결과 건강기능식품 인증마크의 필요도가 매우 높았고, 텍스트 형태보다 텍스트/그래픽이 혼합된 형태의 영양·기능정보의 신뢰도가 높았다. 또한 인체에 작용하는 기전을 포함한 영양·기능정보가 소비자의 신뢰도를 높이는 데 도움이 되는 것으로 조사되었다. 따라서 건강기능식품 인증마크는 소비자로 하여금 제품을 선택하는데 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 사료되며, 또한 건강기능식품의 신뢰도를 높일 수 있는 표시제도의 개선에 기여할 것으로 사료된다.

        This study had carried out to investigate the usage status of customer, the positive effects and problems, and the most important items of the nutrition labeling at purchasing the food etc. on the current nutrition labeling system in order to establish the customer-centric nutrition labeling system. Survey was carried out by questionnaire method that is targeted on adult female above 20 years old in Seoul and Kyeongnam area from May to June, 2004. For the experience of checking the nutrition label of the processed domestic and imported processed food, 82% and 75.4% of the respondents were replied 'have checked' respectively. For the positive effects due to enforcement of the nutrition labeling system, the respondents agreed highly with 'easy to compare with other products' and 'improve the products quality'. For the problems of the nutrition labeling system, the respondents agreed highly with 'different criteria for each product' and 'incendiary purchasing due to false or exaggerated labeling', and gave the higher scale for the positive effects than the problems relatively. For the necessity of the nutrition labeling system, 96.2% of the respondents were replied 'necessary', and it was indicated a significant difference on age and marital status(p<.01). For the price rising due to enforcement of the nutrition labeling system, 55.2% of respondents agreed, and it was indicated a very significant difference on age and monthly income(p<.001). For the most important nutrition labeling items at purchasing the food, the respondents were replied 'total calorie' on most of the food, and in addition, they checked carefully the lipid, cholesterol, protein, Ca, and Fe.

        This study was carried out to establish the consumer-centric food labeling system by investigating usage state, importance evaluation, problems and satisfaction, etc. on the current food labeling system by consumer. For usage state of checking the food label, 50.2% of respondents were replied ‘mostly check the label’, and they were indicated a significant difference on ‘education level(p<.05)’, and in case of married respondents, most were relied 'absolutely check the label', For the reason to check the food label, 61.8% of respondents were replied 'to determine whether it is stable or not', and they were indicated a significant difference on age(p<.01), marital status(p<.01), and job(p<.01). For the item considered as important things on the label of the whole food, 49.8% of respondents were replied that 'expiration and manufacture date is important', and they were indicated a significant difference(p<.001) on age, marital status, job. For item considered as important things on the label of each food, it was indicated that they considered food company as important thing in case of snack, soft drink, edible oils, and noodles, and food company in case of ice cream, and expiration and manufacture date in case of milk product and meat product. For the problems on the current food labeling system, the clauses 'Poor marking on food additives and materials contents' and 'untrue marking of nutrition contents' were indicated a significant difference on age(p<0.05, p<0.001), and the clause 'untrue marking of nutrition contents' were indicated a significant difference on marital status(p<.01) and job(p<.01).

        The purpose of this study is to establish the one serving size of Korean Processed Food. Defining the one serving size is very important for nutrition labeling and foodservice operation, because the one serving size is used to set up a proper portion by each foodservice operation. The basic data of 200 items were collected through three methods. Searching many cookbooks, exploring the commercial and noncommercial foodservices -6 industrial foodservices, 100 nationwide elementary school foodservice recipes analysis, and 3 hospital foodservice systems as the samples - moreover, experimental cooking and sensory evaluation by trained panels were conducted to assess quantity preference of selected food items. All data were rearranged through food type, that is, main dish, side dish, dessert and health food. One serving sizes of processed foods showed wide variety according to the different menus that include selected food items. Therefore, means and ranges of serving size by three research methods were presented item by item. The results obtained were: 1. The Korean Processed Foods were dried and sugar adding and soused foods, and many of them used the natual processing methods. 2. There were wide varieties in the classification of main dishes, but many of them were cereals, noodles, and sugar products. One serving size of noodles were around 50~100 g, cereals were 20~40 g, which means the one serving size can be differenciated by the food usage. 3. According to the Food classification of side dishes, many of them were as following; natural dried foods, processed fish products, salted or sugar added foods, seasoned foods and sugar products. Moreover the Types of cooking in side dishes were almost culinary vegetables, teas, health foods and condiments, and soused fish products. 4. About desserts, they were almost teas and sugars, and the Types of cooking were teas, health foods and seasonings. 5. We can conclude that almost Korean Processed foods used the drying and soused processing methods for long-time preservation, but it can make the higher content of any special elements, such as sodium or carbohydrates.

        The awareness of the nutrition labeling of 82 food producers and 668 government officials was assessed and compared, from May to June in 1994, to that of consumers. Compared to 82.4% of cosumers, 48.1% of producers and 47.8% of officials answered that nutrition labeling is necessary. 48% of producers expected a modest food price rise, but 70% thought food sales would not be affected with nutrition labeling. While being worried about the regulatory difficulties and the increased work load given the inadequate implementation of the current food labeling system due to insufficient personnel, 50.2% of officials wanted the new nutrition labeling system to be introduced within 1~2 years. Contrary to the general dissatisfaction with the system and the lack of confidence in it on the part of consumers, producers thought that they currently provide sufficient food information for consumers, and that consumers had much confidence in it. Producers and officials were more found worried about consumers' inadequate understanding and inactive use of the system in contrast to the widespread and welcome support on the part of consumers. But it was fully agreed by all that education and awareness is crucial for the successful implementation of nutrition labeling system.

        Consumer awareness of current food labeling system and new nutrition labeling system which the government considers to adopt widely was assessed, from May to June in 1994, for 423 adults living in Seoul. Being highly conscious of food safety, they thought the current food label did not provide sufficient information. Dissatisfaction with the current system was shown higher in the female, young, or unmarried strata. The need for nutrition labeling system was widely recognized by 82% of total respondents regardless of sex, level of education, monthly income, and marital status. Although some expressed worries about proper management of the system, most of the respondents answered that the system would benefit them after all. In this connection, 59% of the respondents showed willingness to accept a price increase to be entailed by nutrition labeling. Nutrition informations that, they thought, should be covered were: calorie>minerals>cholesterol>protein>vitamins>fat>sodium. Additional labeling informations they called for were nutrient contents>RDA percentage>specific statement on reinforced or eliminated nutrients.

        방사성 동위원소를 이용한 해충의 생리 및 생태학적 연구를 위한 제반 기초자료를 얻기 위해서 집파리를 공시재료로 하며 유충기에 P-33를 희석농도별로 표식시킨 후에 충태별, 일영별, 부위별 및 세대의 표식방사능에 대한 동태를 시험하있으며 사용계측기별 희석농도를 결정 하여본 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 처리유충은 일령의 경과에 따라 표식방사능이 증가되었으나 노숙유충기인 6영기 이후 부터는 감소되었다. 2. 성충으로 우화된 후의 용피에는 약 의 방사능이 잔류되었다. 3. 우화성충은 일령의 경과에 따라 표식방사능이 감소되었으며 성전체내에서 P-32의 생물학적 반감기는 0.14 일 이었다. 4. 성충체의 부위별 표식방사능 분포율은 복부에 가장 많은 방사능이 분포되어있으며 다음이 흉부, 두부, 지부, 시부 순으로 분포되어 있었다. 5. 표식성충 자웅간에 산난된 난과 부화유충의 100개당 표식방사능은 G.M. Counter를 사용할 경우 0.2 microcurie 이상에서 검출이 가능하였다. 6. 표식성충 숫놈과 정상 암놈과의 교미에서 산난된 난과 부화유충은 미량의 방사능을 바타냈으며. G.M. Counter의 경우 2.0 microcurie, Proportional Counter는 0.2 microcurie 이상에서만 검출 가능하였다. 7. P-32의 처리농도가 높아지면 성충의 사충율이 증가하는 경향이 있으므로 이상의 결과로 보아 처리농도 0.5 microcurie는 집파리를 표식시키는 가장 합리적인 처리농도라 할 수 있다.

        The objective of this study is to analyze the consumer perception of reusable wreath and present the considerations for introducing the labeling system, and to calculate the social benefits and costs of that. For this, We did an internet survey on the perceptions and willingness-to-pay for reuse wreath to 330 adults. As a result, only 56.1 percent of those who ordered wreath were found to check whether they actually arrived. 73.6% of the respondents had the willingness-to-purchase a reusable wreath if the price was reasonable, and 43.6% were in favor of labeling reused wreath as 'reused wreath'. The social benefits of introducing the reusable currency marking system are about 155,692 million won and the social cost about 43.52 million won. If reusable wreath are not recognized and purchased at the price of new one, economic and emotional losses of domestic horticulture farmers and consumers may occur. Therefore, related agencies will be able to expand sales of domestic flower producers and protect the economic and emotional benefits of consumers if they make efforts to establish and operate a reusable wreath labeling system.

        The purpose of this study is to improve some problems of the country-of-origin labeling based on the perception of consumers. For this, we surveyed 636 people. The questions of the survey are largely divided into three categories; 1) criteria and subject for imposition of fine, 2) the possibility of getting consumers confused with the products using domestic regional names as domestic products, 3) criteria for the country-of-origin transplantation of agricultural products and forestry products. According to the results, more than 30.0% of consumers preferred that it is adequate for imposing fine as much as its total sales, regardless of the type of business. In addition, in the case of products using domestic regional names, consumers can be confused about the products with domestic ones, even though there is a standard for confusing country-of-origin labeling. Standard for changing the country-of-origin of agricultural, forestry products and livestock, fisheries products are not balanced. The results of this study can be used as basis data for revising the country-of-origin labeling.

        This paper investigates the long-standing issue of how scrambling as a word order- changing operation is to be understood in light of the general theory of structure building, particularly vis-à-vis Chomsky’s (2013, 2005) Labeling Theory. First, noting that case or inflectional markers are realized on clausal dependent elements in-situ in Korean, we argue that they come about to record the output of labeling in the wake of the Merge operation during structure building. In other words, they are reflections of labeling in head-complement or XP-YP relations in tandem with theta-marking, predication, and predicate modification. Second, noting that scrambling is an adjunction operation via non-A, non-operator movement, we argue that a scrambled element enters into licensing relation just like an adjunct. Neither the former nor the latter can be accommodated into the properly labeled structure in the syntactic component. They rather resort to processes such as semantic predication or predicate modification at the interface to resolve the problem with labeling.

        The approach to the study of language has recently changed in a way to accommodate the findings from its neighboring research fields. Evidence from evolutionary anthropology, genetics and biology has the FL restricted to recursion only, leaving all other mechanisms to the conditions on interfaces. Given that Merge is the most fundamental operation of FL, the labeling has been the target of research on the syntactic objects created by Merge. LA is an algorithm that searches the head property in the minimal domain and names it as a label. LA is part of Transfer and becomes complete at interfaces. This paper re-examines the algorithm of labeling in Chomsky (2013, 2015) to see how it works with the facts provided from areas other than linguistics. It also pursues the possibility that LA can derive coordination, double object constructions, and particle constructions. F-sharing is considered to be subject to parameterization in the minimalist frame though its role is not clear at interfaces except externalization.

        This paper particularly brings Epstein, Kitahara, and Seely’s (EKS 2014) suggestion into critical consideration and tries to make an alternative to their suggestion. What is interesting in EKS’s (2014) proposal is that they argue for the unnecessity of such concepts as numeration and lexical array, and even for the elimination of phases. Though it has been taken for granted that computational complexities are resolved by transferring some stages of a derivation as chunks to the interfaces and then continuing the derivation as such, EKS (2014) apparently prove that we can use the labeling algorithm to resolve the computational complexities in the way that some chunks are constructed even without phases. In this paper, we will see that the concepts of lexical array and numeration are necessary, despite the plausibility of EKS’s suggestion. Furthermore, it will be shown that with the independent necessity of those concepts, we still need the concept of phase as the basic unit of derivation and transfer.
