        베타리치 당근을 HCA 농도별 침지시간별로 각각 세척한 후 PE bag에 포장하여 8 oC에서 12일간 저장하여 미생물분석, 경도, 표면색, 백화지수 및 관능적 품질변화를 조사하였다. 총균수는 침지시간을 3분으로 한 처리구 T-II는 4.37± 0.19 log CFU/g, T-III는 4.27± 0.13 log CFU/g로 저장초기의 대조구에서 보다 적게 나타났다. 대장균군의 경우 저장일수 8일차의 처리구 T-II와 T-III는 대조구보다 적게 검출되었으며, 모든 처리구에서 E. coli는 검출되지 않았다. 3분 침지한 처리구가 1분 침지한 처리구보다 저장 12일 차에서 경도의 감소폭이 적었으며, T-I T-II, T-III로 갈수록 감소폭이 줄어들었다. 저장기간 중 모든 처리구의 L값은 감소하였고 a와 b값은 증가하였다. WI는 저장기간 중 증가하였으며, HCA 처리농도가 증가할수록 증가폭은 적었다. 저장 8일차의 관능적 품질평가 결과, 무처리구와 HCA 처리구의 이취평가는 유의적으로 높게 나타났다(p<0.05). 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때 유통기한 연장을 위하여 당근 세척에 HCA을 50 ppm 이상 사용하는 것이 안전성 및 품질 향상에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.

        The objective of this study was to compare the differences on the activity and power of the wrist flexors and extensors in subjects before the use of a wrist extension splint, after nighttime wearing of the splint, and after daytime wearing of the splint. Ten healthy male and ten healthy female students (mean: 22.4±1.2 years old) volunteered to wear custom-made wrist splints either during the night or during the day, The hand force of the wrist flexor and extensor, and grip force were measured by PowerTrack II and Dynatron, respectively. At the same time, the activities of the wrist flexor and extensor were recorded by' surface electromyography. The maximal hand force and motor unit recruitment of the flexor carpi ulnatis (FCU) increased significantly (p<.05) when tile subjects wore the wrist splints during the daytime, but the maximal hand power of the FCU decreased with nighttime use of the splints. The maximal hand power and motor unit recruitment of the extensor carpi radialis (ECR) and the ECR/FCU ratio decreased both during nighttime and daytime use. The decrement of the ECR/FCU ratio was significant (p<.05). Wearing a wrist extension splint during nighttime led to the maintenance of a lengthened position of the wrist flexor, resulting in the wrist flexor becoming weak. Wearing a wrist extension splint during the day induced the wrist flexors to be greater. In healthy people, the imbalance between the wrist flexors and extensors may be caused by the use of a wrist extension splint. This study indicates that therapists have to consider whether a splint will be effective, as well as the wearing time, when prescribing splints to people with problems of the musculoskeletal system.

        꼬투리째 먹는 채소인 풋꼬투리 강낭콩의 수확후 포장 및 저장 유통온도별 품질보존 및 상품성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 저장중 중량의 변화에서 PP필름 포장시는 변화가 없었으나 골판지박스 포장시는 저장 온도가 높고, 저장기간이 길어질수록 중량 감소율이 현저하였다. 저장중 경도는 저온저장이 상온저장보다 높게 유지되었다. 비타민 C함량은 저장중 모든 처리에서 감소되었고, 그 감소의 폭은 상온저장보다는 저온저장 시 적었다. 엽록소함량은 비닐필름 포장시는 저장온도간에 차이가 없었으나, 박스포장시는 상온저장시 엽록소함량의 감소가 저온저장보다 컸다. 외관 상품성을 표시하는 신선도는 비닐포장이나 골판지박스에 속비닐 넣은 후 산물을 포장하여 8~10℃정도에서 저장 유통시는 상품유지기간이 8일 정도로 상온보관대비 4일정도 연장되었다.

        신선 엽채류인 시금치의 수확 후 포장, 저장유통온도별 품질보존 및 상품성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 저장 중 중량의 변화에서 포장 후 저장 시는 중량감소가 거의 없었으나, 무포장은 저장기간이 길어질수록 그리고 저장온도가 높을수록 감소율이 현저하였다. 비타민 C함량은 저장 초기에 감소가 컸으며, 저장온도가 낮을수록 감소가 적었고, 비닐포장 간에는 큰 차이가 없었다. 시금치에서 Hunter's value는 저장온도가 높을수록 b값이 높아지는 경향이었다. 시금치 저장 중 외관 신선도에서 polypropylene 비닐포장 후 저온(1~3℃) 저장은 최고 34일, 상온(10~15℃) 저장은 8일까지 상품성이 유지되었으나, 무포장 상온보관은 3일 밖에 유지되지 않았다.

        The purpose of this study was to evaluate isometric trunk extension strength in hemiplegic patients, and to compare that with normal subjects to find a correlation between trunk extension strength and the functional independent degree in hemiplegic patients. Fifteen hemiplegic male patients (mean age 55.2±10.2 years) and twenty-five healthy male subjects (mean age 54.6±10.3 years) completed isometric trunk extension. Strength was measured at 0, 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, and 72 degrees of trunk flexion. The functional independent degree was assessed by Functional Independence Measure (FIM). Mean isometric trunk extension strength was 91.2 ft-lbs, 120.7 ft-lbs, 142.3 ft-lbs, 156.4 ft-lbs, 173.5 ft-lbs, 184.1 ft-lbs, and 195.3 ft-lbs in the hemiplegic patients group, and 135.6 ft-lbs, 175.6 ft-lbs, 204.4 ft-lbs, 221.9 ft-lbs, 231.2 ft-lbs, 246.8 ft-lbs, and 259.7 ft-lbs in the normal subjects group. The values of isometric trunk extension strength had a descending linear correlation pattern from trunk flexion angle to extension angle. Trunk extension strength in hemiplegic patients was significantly lower than that of normal subjects (p<.05) but did not correlate with the FIM total score (p>.05). Therefore, the isometric trunk extension strength in hemiplegic patients was lower than that of normal subjects and did not correlate with the functional independent degree.

        This study examined the effects of the abdominal drawing-in (ADI) maneuver using a pressure biofeedback on muscle recruitment pattern of erector spinae and hip extensors and anterior pelvic tilt during hip extension in the prone position. Fourteen able-bodied volunteers, who had no medical history of lower extremity or lumbar spine disease, were recruited for this study. The muscle onset time of erector spinae, gluteus maximus, and medial hamstring and angle of anterior pelvic tilt during hip extension in prone position were measured in two conditions: ADI maneuver condition and non-ADI maneuver condition. Muscle onset time was measured using a surface electromyography (EMG). Kinematic data for angle of anterior pelvic tilt were measured using a motion analysis system. The muscle onset time and angle of anterior pelvic tilt were compared using a paired t-test. The study showed that in ADI maneuver during hip extension in prone position, the muscle onset time for the erector spinae was delayed significantly by a mean of 43.20 ms (SD 43.12), and the onset time for the gluteus maximus preceded significantly by a mean of -4.83 ms (SD 14.10) compared to non-ADI maneuver condition (p<.05). The angle of anterior pelvic tilt was significantly lower in the ADI maneuver condition by a mean of 7.03 degrees (SD 2.59) compared to non-ADI maneuver condition (15.01 degrees) (p<.05). The findings of this study indicated that prone hip extension with the ADI maneuver was an effective method to recruit the gluteus maximus earlier than erector spinae and to decrease anterior pelvic tilting.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of hip extension velocity (7.5 degree/second, 30 degree/second) on the relative onset time of the gluteus maximus in relation to the hamstring during hip extension in prone position. Thirteen healthy male subjects (mean age=22.6 years [SD=1.8], mean weight=73.4 kg [SD=10.3], mean height=176.1 cm [SD=6.3]) voluntarily participated in this study. Electromyographic data was collected on the gluteus maximus and hamstring to determine onset time. Statistical analyses were performed with the paired t-test. The results showed that the onset time of the hamstring was significantly faster than that of the gluteus maximus in both fast and slow hip extension velocity. The gluteus maximus began contraction .079 seconds later following the contraction of the hamstring. The onset time of the hamstring was significantly faster in fast hip extension velocity compared with slow hip extension velocity. In conclusion, it was determined that the onset time of the gluteus maximus was faster with fast hip extension velocity compared with slow hip extension velocity. There was a statistically significant difference between the onset times of the gluteus maximus and hamstring in relation to the two velocities (p<.05). Further study is needed to examine whether the velocity of hip extension can influence the onset time in a similar fashion in patients with low back pain.

        순비기나무를 해안의 매립지와 모래언덕뿐만 아니라 각종 훼손지 비탈면과 조경공간 등의 녹화ㆍ조경용 식물재료로서 이용성을 확대시키는 방안을 모색하기 위하여, 실생묘와 삽목묘를 이용하여 토양의 종류와 토양함수율에 따른 생장특성을 연구하였던 바, 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1 토양함수율 5%구에서도 실생묘가 70% 이상, 삽목묘가 40% 이상의 생존율을 나타내어 순비기나무는 내건성이 대단히 강한 수종으로 나타났다. 토양함수율 10% 이상에서 실생묘는 92~100%가 생존하였고, 삽묘목는 50~80%가 생존하였다. 2. 토양별 묘목의 평균생존율은 실생묘의 경우 화강암질풍화토에서 94%로 가장 높았고, 바다모래 (93%)와 적색미사질양토(88%)에서도 높은 생존율을 나타내어 토양적응성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 삽목묘의 경우 56~66%로 실생묘보다 낮은 생존율을 나타내었는데, 낙엽기에 이식하거나 생장기에는 전정 후에 이식하면 생존율을 높일 수 있을 것이다 3. 줄기길이, 근원직경, 잎, 뿌리길이 등의 생장량은 3개 시험 토양에서 모두 토양함수율이 높을수록 크게 나타났다. 토양함수율에 따른 생장량의 차이는 줄기길이에서 가장 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 4. 토양별 생장량은 전반적으로 화강암질풍화토에서 가장 많았고, 그 다음이 바다모래와 적색 미사질양토의 순으로 나타났다. 그러나 3개 시험토양사이에 큰 차이는 없었다. 5 따라서 순비기나무는 토양적응성이 넓고 내건성이 강하여 해안지역과 육지의 다양한 녹화 조경 대상지에서 녹화식물로서 이용범위가 대단히 넓을 것으로 판단된다.

        메추리알의 저장성 향상을 위하여 세척수의 온도와 pH, 세척후의 mineral oil coating, 저장중 공기의 상대습도(RH)와 CO2의 영향을 비교하였다. 메추리알의 품질특성은 난황계수, Haugh unit, 중량감소를 측정하였다. 그 결과 세척수 온도 50oC와 pH 11.0의 KOH 용액이 수돗물이나 pH 3.5의 lactic acid 용액으로 세척한 것보다 저장성 향상에 효과가 있었다. 환경기체조건을 상대습도 70%와 3.0% CO2 농도로 조절한 것은 상대습도 80%와 2.0% CO2의 조건보다 저장 기간을 50% 이상 연장 시켰다. 또한 mineral oil로 coating 처리할 경우 50oC에서 알칼리 용액으로 세척한 후 상대습도 70% 및 3.0% CO2 조건에서 저장하는 것보다 54% 가량 저장성 향상에 효과가 있었다. 이러한 조건에서 저장온도를 4oC로 낮출 경우 3개월 이상의 저장이 가능하였으며 선정된 세척 및 환경기체 조건은 저장 중 메추리알의 무게의 감소도 크게 낮춰 주었으며, 특히 mineral oil coating은 무처리구와 비교할 때 2.5배 이상 무게감소를 억제하는데 효과적임을 알 수 있었다.

        This research was performed to compare spinal segment motion angle between low back pain (LBP) group and painless group during trunk flexion-extension and to investigate the effect of transversus abdominis strengthening exercise on spinal segment motion angle in LBP group. Nine subjects with LBP and ten subjects without LBP participated. Transversus abdominis strengthening exercise was performed in LBP group for three weeks, and spinal segment motion angles were compared before and after the exercise performance. Spinal segment motion angles were measured both in sitting and standing position. Results were as followed: 1) Subjects' average age was 24.79 years, height was 167.84 cm, and weight was 59.95 kg. 2) Spinal segment motion angle of T10/l1 was significantly higher in LBP group compared with painless group (p<.05) in sitting position during trunk flexion-extension. 3) In sitting position, whereas entire lumbar segment motion angles were lower in LBP group compared with painless group (p<.05), angle of L4/5 was higher in LBP group compared with painless group (p<.05). 4) There was no significant difference in thoracic segment motion angle in standing position. 5) After three weeks of transversus abdominis strengthening exercise, thoracic segment motion angle increased both in sitting and standing position (p<.05). 6) In painless group, there was no significant difference in entire spinal segment motion angles in sitting and standing position (p>.05). When spinal segment motion angles were compared between sitting and standing position, there were slight differences. In sitting position, there was no difference in spinal segment motion angle between LBP group and painless group while hip joint motion angle and sacral inclination angle of LBP group was lower than those of painless group (p<.05). In standing position, lumbar segment motion angle was significantly lower in LBP group than that of painless group. Transversus abdominis strengthening exercise influenced thoracic segment motion angle more significantly than lumbar segment motion angle.

        Objective: This study compares the effectiveness of palmar static digit extension splinting with dorsal block dynamic digit extension splinting on preventing postoperative secondary joint flexion contracture of metacarpophalangeal joints and proximal interphalangeal joints. Method: Six patients with Dupuytren’s Disease were randomly selected for this study and divided equally into two groups. Group A was fitted with the palmar splint and Group B with the dorsal splint. Both groups were fitted with the experimental splints at the end of their first initial evaluation session. All patients received six months of comprehensive hand therapy. Patients were also assigned a program of independent daily home exercise. Objective measurements of at the initial evaluation and during the 12th and 24th week of hand therapy. Results: This study found significantly greater improvement of ROM from using the dorsal block dynamic digit extension splint than with the palmar static digit extension splint when combined with comprehensive hand therapy.

        This study examined the muscle recruitment order during extension of the hip joint in normal subjects, and evaluated whether the external support obtained from wearing a lumbosacral corset had an effect on muscle recruitment leading to increased lumbar stability. The subjects were 40 normal adults (32 male, 8 female) with no history of low back pain and no pathological findings in the nervous or musculoskeletal systems. All subjects extended their hip joints under 3 positions (prone, sidelying, standing). During extension, the onsets of contraction of the rectus abdominis, gluteus maximus, and semitendinosus muscles were measured. Electromyographic activity was measured using a surface electrode, and the muscle contraction onset time was designated as the point exceeding a threshold of 25 ms, using a mean plus twice of the standard deviation. To compare the average order of muscle contraction onset time, a Freedman two-way analysis of variance by ranks was used. The relative difference between muscle contraction onset time wearing and not wearing a lumbosacral corset was measured using a paired t-test. A difference in the average muscle contraction onset order for the rectus abdominis, gluteus maximus, and semitendinosus muscles was observed (p<.05) among three positions. However, wearing a lumbosacral corset did not. change the contraction order. In addition, wearing a lumbosacral corset produced a significant difference (p<.05) in the relative onset time between the rectus abdominis and gluteus maximus in the standing position, but no difference was observed for the other muscles or positions. In the future, patients suffering from low back pain should be compared with normal subjects to determine the effectiveness of a lumbosacral corset in changing muscle recruitment order.

        The purpose of this study was to compare the onset times of muscle activities and the order of muscle firing in hamstring gluteus maximus, and lumbar erector spinae muscle during active hip extension between subjects with low back pain (LBP) and healthy subjects. Thirty subjects, 15 with LBP and 15 healthy subjects, participated in this study. Electromyographic activity was recorded during active hip extension in prone and standing position. Relative onset times of these muscle activities were determined. Similar muscle firing order in hamstring, gluteus maximus, and lumbar erector spinae muscle showed in both groups and positions. However, the onset time of gluteus maximus was significantly later in prone and standing active hip extension in subjects with LBP than in healthy subjects. The onset time of lumber erector spinae muscle activity was significantly delayed in subjects with LBP in standing active hip extension, The delayed onset times of gluteus maximus and lumbar erector spinae muscles' activities were probably related to LBP. Further studies are needed to identify whether the delayed onset times of gluteus maximus and lumbar erector spinae muscle activities are the contributing factors to LBP.
