        The experimental study for an operational characteristics and performance of the sodium heat pipe were carried out. For an experiment, the heat pipe which is 1000mm length and 25.4mm diameter of stainless steel container with 50 mesh of screen wick using sodium as a working fluid is manufactured and tested as functions of heat flow rate, inclined angle and operating temperature. The test results are as follows. During the start-up, frontal start up was observed because of the vapor density increasing as increased the hot zone. Also, the heat pipe showed uniform temperature over than 420℃ of the operating temperature. The average heat transfer coefficient increased as the heat flux and the vapor temperature increase, and the range of the total thermal resistance was 0.075~0.04℃/W at the 12~53.55kW/m2 of heat flux and 500~750℃ of operating temperature. The maximum heat flow rate was 750W at the 10 degree of top heating mode.

        OTEC(Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion) system using the temperature difference between cooler deep and surface ocean waters is one of the renewable energy. But in Korea, OTEC system can not apply except in winter because surface sea water temperature is not enough. C-OTEC(Combined OTEC) system is that utilizes temperature difference between sea water and the condenser of power plants via working fluid. It can be a good alternative in the warm surface sea water for Mid-latitudes region like Korea. In this study, a marine survey using multi-beam echo sounder, single-beam echo sounder and sparker seismic wave is performed and sea water intake pipe line is proposed for the 10kW C-OTEC Pilot Plant.

        Glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) pipes buried underground are attractive for use in harsh environments, such as for the collection and transmission of liquids which are abrasive and/or corrosive. In this paper, we present the result of investigation pertaining to the structural behavior of GRP flexible pipes buried underground. In the investigation of structural behavior such as a ring deflection, experimental and analytical studies are conducted. In addition, vertical ring deflection is measured by the field test and finite element analysis (FEA) is also conducted to simulate behavior of GRP pipe buried underground. Based on the results from the finite element analyses considering soil-pipe interaction the vertical ring deflection behavior of buried GRP pipe is predicted. In addition, analytical and experimental results are compared and discussed.

        Materials design and processing development proposed in this study, aims at contributing to high wear resistant and friction characteristics. To find wear resistant and friction with inner elbow pipe, it is needed hardness and frictional condition test to be capable of supplying with high Cr casting steel. The result of HTV(heat treatment in vacuum) shows that hardness increased with increasing Cr content in % carbide phase. It was about 7∼10% of hardness improvement compared to original casting elbow pipe. This behavior of the hardness of Cr casting steel was explained by the types of chemical bonds that hold atoms together in Cr carbide phase. Through the friction coefficient and wear loss test, with the increasing of Cr wt% reduction in the coefficient of friction and wear loss.

        Concrete and steel has been used as the main material of structure from building and drainage pipe. However, many problems such as corrosion and rupture had occurred in the Water Supply and the Sewer System. Additionally, the government has invested big budget to Deteriorated pipe replacement and maintenance. Replacement of existing pipelines in order to solve these problems, GFRP pipe(glass fiber composite material pipes) is aspiring to replace the tube. GFRP has high strength, restore performance, durable and lightweight properties. However, high strength GFRP pipe is weak in buckling problem. This study is to analysis Optimization Design models for resisting bucking problem of GFRP pipes. Thus, various tests Changed the angle of Glass-Fiber-Reinforced Layer and the resin content of resin-mortar were performed for GFRP pipes to estimate material characteristics of GFRP in this study. Buckling analysis of composite structures under external uniform pressure was performed with the results obtained through test.

        PURPOSES: The purpose of asphalt pavement reducing surface temperature by using Pipe cooling system is to make pleasant city life environment. METHODS: We considered building condition to lay the pipes under asphalt pavement and figured out that temperature reducing effect with pipe cooling system. In addition, we guessed rutting through wheel tracking test with a laid the pipes under asphalt mixture and performed fatigue cracking through a flexural fatigue test for performance evaluation of pipe cooling system. RESULTS: When pipe cooling system worked, the temperature of pavement model reduced quickly in test. The system can turn down the degree by 4 or 5 quickly as well. It didn't affect rutting to lay the pipes under the pavement, but it can get damaged to asphalt pavement in early stage by the result of performance evaluation. CONCLUSIONS: We figured out that pipe cooling system can turn down the temperature of aspalt pavement surface through tests. We suggest that pipe cooling system should be considered one of the effective way to solve urban heat island problem.

        This study was analyzed the characteristics of temperature distribution in DPF(Diesel Particulate Filter) equipped with partitioned electric heaters. Analysis parameters was used by variation to the length of pipe from exhaust manifold to inlet of filter. The temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the DPF is related closely to the regeneration of filter. Due to space constraints, the DPF have inlet of bent pipe. The inlet of bent pipe induce the heterogeneous distribution of flow. The heterogeneous trapping of smoke is induced according to the heterogeneous distribution of flow. And the heterogeneous distribution of temperature in DPF is induced. In this study, without the use of assistive devices for even distribution of flow into DPF, the characteristics of temperature distribution in DPF were investigated according to the variation of the length of inlet pipe.

        Recently, underground pipes are utilized in various fields of applications such as sewer lines, drain lines, water mains, gas lines, telephone and electrical conduits, culverts, oil lines, etc. Most of pipes are installed for long-term purposes and they should be safely installed in consideration of installation conditions because there are unexpected various terrestrial loading conditions. In this paper, we present the result of investigation pertaining to the structural behavior of glass fiber reinforced thermosetting polymer plastic (GFRP) flexible pipes buried underground. The mechanical properties of the GFRP flexible pipes produced in the domestic manufacturer are determined and the results are reported in this paper. In addition, ring deflection is measured by the field tests and the finite element analysis (FEA) is also conducted to simulate the structural behavior of GFRP pipes buried underground. From the field test results, we predicted long-term, up to 50 years, ring deflection of GFRP pipes buried underground based on the method suggested by the existing literature. It was found that the GFRP flexible pipe to be used for cooling water intake system in the nuclear power plant is appropriate because 5% ring deflection limitation for 50 years could be satisfied.

        This study was performed to test the combustive properties of the pipe insulation materials which are mainly used in the industries and buildings. Fire characteristic test of pipe insulation film according to the KS F ISO 5660-1 was performed. The experimental materials commonly used in the pipe insulation were used four kinds of films. Two kinds of 4 types of products that have the flame retardant performance and the other two types of them have no flame retardant performance. They were selected for fire characteristic test. The result of finding 25kW/m2 radiation from the ignition was that flame retardant products were 140sec and the other one were 69sec in average of heat release rate(HRR). The result of flame retardant products in the 50kW/m2 was 34sec and the other one were 15sec in average of HRR. However, the HRR of flame retardant products was much higher than the other one. Flame propagation test was conducted according to the KOFEIS 1001. The result of flame retardant products was that flame retardant products had a hold without fire spread after firing them. But the other one were completely fired after firing them. Therefore, I want to recommend that flame retardant products need to be used by the regulation to prevent or decrease a fire spread.

        This study investigates the elastic behavior characteristics of GRP pipes reinforced with trapezoidal ribs instead of rectangular ribs. Han(2006) proposed GRP pipe reinforced with rectangular ribs in 2006, to promote buckling strength of the pipe. But it is more difficult to reinforce pipe with rectangular ribs than external corrugated ribs, because of pipe manufacturing process referred to as filament winding. Therefore, This study investigated the elastic behavior characteristics of the GRP pipe reinforced with trapezoidal ribs for simplifying analysis approach of external corrugated ribs.

        GRP (Glass fiber reinforced polymer plastic) pipes are classified into flexible pipe category because of the structural characteristics of GRP pipes buried underground. Moreover, the ring deflection of GRP pipe is affected by the certain factors such as pipe stiffness, the modulus of soil reaction of backfill materials, and bedding conditions. In this study, we investigated the structural characteristics of the GRP pipes buried underground considering the soil-pipe interaction including bedding angle, pipe stiffness, and soil density used as a backfill material. From this parametric study, it was found that the soil density used for the backfill is the most important factor relating to the ring deflection of the buried GRP pipe.

        The law(construction standard specification, construction, standard-work regulation, Industry safety standard related regulation) related to the installation of scaffolding being used commonly on the construction site is regulated that the gap of ledger is within 1.5m and first ledger is within 2m. The gap of ledger here is essential for the stability of scaffolding structure. But it is determined that it is possible for the gap of ledger is applied by explaining safety handrail as ledger, because of the fact that in current, on the construction site, safety handrail is installed with the material of scaffolding ledger as a steel tube pipe. On this study, it is aimed to guarantee the safety by analyzing the ledger of scaffolding practically and prevent the accident of manager and laborer through the actualization.

        본 연구는 산업용 열교환기 및 상용 파이프의 최적 설계를 위하여 열교환기 내의 사각형 단면 파이프의 shear-thickening 비뉴톤 유체의 압력강하 및 대류 열전달률을 수치해석적으로 수행하였다. shear-thickening 유체의 구성 방정식은 기존의 비뉴톤 유체 멱법칙을 보완한 확장 멱법칙 모델을 채택하였다. 파이프 내의 압력강하를 의미하는 마찰계수와 확장 레이놀즈 수의 곱은 기존 연구의 비교자료와 비교할 때 뉴톤 유체 영역과 멱법칙 영역에서 각각 0.018% 및 0.06% 내에서 일치함을 보였고, 대류 열전달률을 의미하는 뉴셀트 수는 문헌치와 비교할 때 뉴톤 유체 영역과 멱법칙 영역에서 각각 0.025% 및 0.14% 내에서 일치함을 보였다. 비뉴톤 확장 멱법칙 유체 모델의 형태를 띠는 shear-thickening 유체를 열교환기 또는 상용파이프 내의 사각형 단면 파이프 내에서 사용하면 유동지수(n)에 따라서 뉴톤 유체보다 최대 160%의 압력강하를 증가시켰고 최대 14%의 대류 열전달 감소를 발생시킬 수 있었다.

        재하속도에 따른 용접강관의 모멘트-곡률 거동특성에 관한 해석적 연구를 수행하였다. 3차원 열역학해석을 통하여 용접이음부의 잔류응력을 산출하였다. 그리고 동적소성모델이 적용된 탄소성 유한요소해석 프로그램을 이용하여 잔류응력을 고려한 용접강관(Welded pipe)의 동적해석을 수행하였다. 그리고 용접이음부가 없는 일반강관(Seamless pipe)에 대한 동적거동과의 비교를 통하여 해석을 수행하여 용접강관의 해석력과 해석결과는 용접강관의 모멘트가 일반강관의 모멘트에 비해 낮은 응답을 보였으나 재하속도가 증가함에 따라 모멘트 응답의 차이는 점차 감소하는 경향을 보였다.
