        Development of shale gas has drawn increasing attention since it is one of promising alternative energy resources. However, contamination of groundwater and surface water during the extraction of shale gas is becoming a serious environmental issues, which brings the needs to treat wastewater generated from hydraulic fracking. In this study, the feasibility of membrane distillation (MD) for the treatment of shale gas wastewater was investigated using a laboratory scale experimental setup. Flat-sheet MD membranes were used to treat produced water from a shale gas well in the United States. Different configurations such as direct contact MD (DCMD) and air gap MD (AGMD) were compared in terms of flux and fouling propensity. The foulants on the surface of the membranes were examined. The results suggest that MD can treat the shale gas produced water containing more than 200,000 mg/L of total dissolved solids, which is impossible by other technologies such as reverse osmosis (RO) and forward osmosis (FO). In this study, we investigated the possibility of processing and characterization of shale gas produce wastewater using membrane distillation. Laboratory scale membrane distillation experimental device was developed. It was compared the flat-sheet direct contact membrane distillation and flat-sheet air gap membrane distillation. AGMD flux in lower than the flux of DCMD, it was expected that the contamination caused by organic matters.

        PURPOSES : The applicability of the mechanics-based similarity concept (suggested by Feng et al.) for determining scaled variables, including length and load, via laboratory-scale tests and discrete element analysis, was evaluated. METHODS: Several studies on the similarity concept were reviewed. The exact scaling approach, a similarity concept described by Feng, was applied in order to determine an analytical solution of a free-falling ball. This solution can be considered one of the simplest conditions for discrete element analysis. RESULTS : The results revealed that 1) the exact scaling approach can be used to determine the scale of variables in laboratory tests and numerical analysis, 2) applying only a scale factor, via the exact scaling approach, is inadequate for the error-free replacement of small particles by large ones during discrete element analysis, 3) the level of continuity of flowable materials such as SCC and cement mortar seems to be an important criterion for evaluating the applicability of the similarity concept, and 4) additional conditions, such as the kinetics of particle, contact model, and geometry, must be taken into consideration to achieve the maximum radius of replacement particles during discrete element analysis. CONCLUSIONS : The concept of similarity is a convenient tool to evaluate the correspondence of scaled laboratory test or numerical analysis to physical condition. However, to achieve excellent correspondence, additional factors, such as the kinetics of particles, contact model, and geometry, must be taken into consideration.

        본 연구에서는 하수처리수를 원수로 사용하여 직접 접촉식 막증발법을 적용하여 원수 온도와 원수 유량 변화에 따 른 하수처리수의 COD, TN, TP, TOC의 제거율 변화와 여과플럭스의 변화를 측정하였다. 또한 하수처리수에 의한 분리막의 오염 가역성을 평가하기 위해 1차 증류수만을 사용하여 물리세정을 수행한 후 플럭스의 회복률을 측정하였다. 실험결과 원수 의 온도 및 유량에 관계없이 원수가 3배 농축될 때까지 여과를 진행하였음에도 불구하고 하수처리수의 주요 오염물질인 COD, TN, TP, TOC에 대한 제거율이 92% 이상으로 높게 나타났다. 또한 비교적 낮은 온도인 50°C와 60°C에서 원수의 유량에 따라 최소 13.8 LMH에서 20.3 LMH로 높은 여과플럭스를 나타냈다. 그리고 높은 농축계수까지 여과 실험을 진행했음에도 불구하 고 낮은 여과플럭스의 감소를 나타냈으며 1차 증류수를 이용한 짧은 시간 동안의 물리세정만으로 최소 90% 이상의 높은 여과 플럭스 회복율을 나타냈다. 따라서 하수처리수 재이용을 위한 공정으로 막증발법의 적용이 충분히 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

        Although microalgae are considered as a promising feedstock for biofuels, cost-efficient harvesting of microalgae needs to be significantly improved. In this study, the use of electro coagulation as a more rapid flocculation method for harvesting a freshwater (Scenedesmus dimorphus) microalgae species was evaluated. The results showed that, electro coagulation was shown to be more efficient using an aluminum anode than using an iron anode. And optimum conditions of electro coagulation for harvesting Scenedesmus dimorphus were found. The optimum stirring speed was 100 rpm and optimum pH was 5. Furthermore, the current density which the fastest and highest recovery efficiency is achieved at 30 A/m2, while the highest energy efficiency was achieved at 10 A/m2. A the rapid and high recovery efficiency indicate that electro coagulation is a particularly attractive technology for harvesting microalgae.

        IT security service provides customers with the capability of protecting the networked information asset and infrastructures, and the scope of security service is expanding from a technology-intensive task to a comprehensive protection system for IT environment. To improve the quality of this service, a research model which help assess the quality is required. Several research models have been proposed and used in various service areas, but few cases are found for IT security service. In this work, a research model for the IT security quality has been proposed, based on research models such as SERVQUAL and E-S-QUAL. With the proposed model, factors which affect the service quality and the best quality measure have been identified. And the feasibility of using quantitative measures for quality has been examined. For analysis, structural equation modeling and various statistical methods such as principal component analysis were used. The result shows that satisfaction is the most significant measure affected by the proposed quality factors. Two quality factors, fulfillment and empathy, are the main determinants of the service quality. This leads to a strategy of quality improvement based on factors of emotion and perception, not of technology. The quantitative measures are considered as promising alternative measures, when combined with other measures. In order to design reliable quantitative measures, more work should be done on target processing time and users’ expectation. It is hoped that work of this research will provide efficient tools and methods to improve the quality of IT security service and help future research works for other IT service areas.

        본 연구는 실제 유류오염토양을 in situ 토양세정법으로 정화시 기술 적용성을 평가하기 위한 회분식 기초연구로 적정 계면활성제의 종류와 농도를 결정하고자 하였다. 증류수만의 진탕효과로 인한 TPH 제거는 약 30%이었으며, 계면활성제 희석시 사용되는 용액으로는 증류수를 사용한 경우에 비하여 지하수(해수 혼합)의 유입으로 인하여 약 2~6%의 효율저하가 나타났다. 토양과 계면활성제 용액비는 회분식 실험에서 TPH 제거효율에 미치는 영향이 미미하였다. 단독 또는 혼합 계면활성제 농도를 0.1~4.0 wt%까지 변화시켜 세정한 결과 종류별로는 Tween-80, SWA-1503, SWA-1503+SDS에서 평 균 제거율이 80% 이상으로 대체적으로 높은 효율을 보였으며, 농도에 따른 차이는 크지 않아 0.1 wt% 농도를 최적 농도로 판단하였다.

        본 연구에서는 파이로프로세싱에서 발생하는 배기체 내 요오드 포집을 위한 매질로서 고가의 은 기반 흡착제를 대체하기 위 한 상용 구리메쉬의 가능성에 대해 연구하였다. 열역학적 계산을 통해 구리 금속과 요오드 기체의 반응은 100 ~ 500℃ 온도 범위에서 자발적으로 일어나며 요오드화구리(CuI)를 형성할 것으로 예상되었다. 실험을 통해 반응 온도에 따른 요오드 포 집 효율의 영향을 분석한 결과, 1개의 구리메쉬(질량 0.26 g)를 이용하여 반응 온도를 300, 400℃로 변화하였을 때 각각 5 및 6 wt%의 요오드(초기질량 2.0 g)가 포집됨을 확인하였다. 또한, 반복 실험 결과를 토대로 구리메쉬 표면에 형성된 반응 생성 물(CuI)의 자발적인 탈리 현상으로 구리의 활용률이 증가할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 반응 생성물의 CuI 상 형성은 X-선 회절 실험을 통해 확인하였으며, 표면 분석은 주사전자현미경을 이용하여 수행하여 그 결과를 보고하였다.

        PURPOSES : This study evaluated the feasibility of implementing protected-permissive left-turn (PPLT) signals at three-leg signalized intersections. METHODS: A three-leg signalized intersection with permissive left-turn was first selected. A VISSIM simulation model was constructed using data collected from the test site. The VISSIM network was calibrated by adjusting related parameter values in order to minimize the difference between the simulated and surveyed critical gap. The calibrated network was validated by the number of waiting left-turning vehicles per cycle. Finally, the mobility and safety measures were extracted from simulation runs in which permissive, protected left turns as well as PPLTs were realized based on diverse traffic volume scenarios. RESULTS : The mobility-related measures of effectiveness (MOEs) of the case with PPLT outperformed the other two left-turn treatment scenarios. In particular, the average waiting time per cycle for the left-turn vehicles in the case with PPLT was reduced by 30 s. The safetyrelated MOEs of the case with PPLT were somewhat higher than those in the case with protected left-turns and much higher than those in the case with permissive left-turns. CONCLUSIONS : Based on the mobility- and safety-related MOEs generated from the VISSIM simulation runs, the use of PPLT seems to be feasible at three-leg signalized intersections where the left-turn is permissive and a pedestrian signal exists at the conflicting approach. However, in order to use the PPLT in earnest, it is necessary to revise the road traffic act, traffic signs, and related manuals.

        짠맛 증진 물질을 탐색하기 위하여 국내에서 시판 중인 간장, 액젓 및 어간장의 품질특성을 분석한 결과, 모든 제 품이 기준·규격에 적합하였으나 까나리액젓의 경우에 식 염의 농도가 기준규격을 약 3% 정도 초과하는 것으로 조 사되었고 ICP-AES를 사용하여 측정한 나트륨 함량으로부 터 환산된 식염 농도는 약 1% 이상 더 높게 나타났다. 풍 미 및 짠맛에 기여하는 성분인 저분자 펩타이드 및 아미노 산이 존재할 것으로 판단되는 수용성 고형분 및 총질소 함 량은 액젓류가 간장류에 비하여 유의적(p<0.05)으로 높게 나타났으며, 유리아미노산 함량을 탐색한 결과, 짠맛과 우 마미를 나타내는 glutamic acid, lysine 및 arginine의 함량 은 멸치어간장 > 저염간장 > 멸치액젓 > 새우육젓 > 양조 간장 > 복합어간장 > 전통간장 > 까나리액젓 > 전통청장 의 순서로 분석되었고 쓴맛에 관여하는 성분은 저염간장 > 멸치어간장 > 멸치액젓 > 새우육젓 > 양조간장 > 복합 어간장 > 전통간장 > 까나리액젓 > 전통청장의 순서로 분 석되었다. 뿐만 아니라 가수분해도 및 질소분포를 분석한 결과 멸치어간장의 경우에 가수분해도가 가장 높았고, 어 간장류에 존재하는 짠맛 증진 물질로 알려진 arginyl dipeptides와 같은 성분이 존재할 것으로 예측되는 아미노 산성 질소와 lowry N의 분율도 멸치어간장이 가장 높았다. 이러한 사실은 arginyl dipeptides가 존재할 것으로 판단되 는 GPC chromatogram의 분획 II가 멸치어간장에 가장 많 이 존재하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 짠맛강도 평가결과는 국내 저염 간장을 가장 짜게 느꼈으며, 전통간장 > 창녕 멸치어간장 > 전통청장 > 멸치액젓 > 새우젓 > 까나리 액 젓 > 제주 어간장 > 양조간장 > 소금물 순으로 짠맛을 강 한 것으로 나타나 장기간 숙성이 짠맛을 증진하는데 효과 가 있다고 판단된다. 시판 멸치어간장으로부터 무염의 짠 맛 증진 물질의 분리하기 위하여 MAR을 이용한 흡착 및 탈착 시험으로 탈염처리를 한 결과, 무염의 짠맛 증진 물 질을 분리할 수 있는 가능성은 확인하였으나 짠맛 증진 물 질의 손실이 예상되어 MAR을 이용한 공정은 짠맛증진 물 질의 분리에는 부적합하지만, 멸치어간장 제조방법에서 고 염처리, 장기간 숙성 및 쓴맛 등의 문제를 개선하면 짠맛 증진 물질을 생산할 수 있는 산업적 제조공정을 확립할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

        In this study, we applied a membrane distillation process to investigate a feasibility of treating a wastewater with high concentration of organic matters including nitrogen and phosphorus. The laboratory scale experiment was performed by using a hydrophobic PVDF membrane with the pore size of 0.22 μm and porosity of 75%. The installation was direct contact type where the temperature difference between a feed and permeate side was controlled to have a range from 20 to 60°C. We observed a flux variation and a concentration changes of COD, PO4 3--P, NH4 + -N and conductivity of feed side as well as permeate side with various temperature differences (20 to 60°C), cross flow velocities (0.09 to 0.27 m/s) through the module, and pH (6.6 to 12.0) of the feed that has the initial concentration of COD about 1,000 mg/L, total nitrogen 390 mg/L, total phosphorus 10 mg/L, conductivity of 7,000 μs/cm. The results showed that the average flux was ranged from 4 to 40 L/m2/hr which was almost similar with the flux of NaCl and deionized water used as a feed solution. The lowest flux was obtained at the operating condition with the temperature difference of 20°C and cross flow velocity of 0.09 m/s while the highest one was measured with 60°C and 0.27 m/s. Above 99% of COD and PO4 3- -P in the feed could be rejected regardless of an operating condition. However, the removal rate of ammonium nitrogen was varied from 64 to 99% depending on the pH of feed solution.

        The main objective of this research is to study feasibility for applying metal membrane to remove particles from air scouring membrane backwash water. Also, the research was conducted to investigate the influence of polyamine coagulation on floc growth in membrane backwash water as pretreatment for removal particles. From the results of experiments for evaluating the influence of polyamine coagulation on floc growth, it was investigated that particles in the rage of 2~50 μm grew up to 30~5,000 μm. In addition, all six metal membranes showed lower removal efficiency, which was 0.87~13.89%, in the case of no polyamine coagulant. On the other hand, in the case of injecting polyamine coagulant, those did extremely high efficiency in 56~92%. From the SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope) images of filtered wiremesh and metal foam membrane, sieve effects were predominant for liquid solid separation in wiremesh and adsorption and diffusion capture effects were predominant in metal foam membrane.

        Korea ocean research stations manage the weather and environmental data collected from coastal and ocean areas to provide short-term and long-term ocean forecasts. The purpose of this paper is to analyze and quantify economic benefits of the ocean research stations with sensors to observe physical, chemical, and biological data. The construction and operation of an integrated ocean observation station is expected to reduce uncertainty about ocean and coastal areas and to improve the quality of ocean forecasts. The economic benefits are mainly come from improved search and rescue operations, ocean pollution management, yellow dust management, and improved productivity in ocean-related industries. In addition, an input-output analysis is performed to evaluate the economic impacts of ocean research stations nationwide. The analysis shows that the system can contribute to industries such as fishing, maritime and air cargo, medical and health care.

        The purpose of this research was to reveal how Jong Ga and its cuisine is perceived by Koreans and foreign tourists and to develop Jong Ga culinary culture for culinary tourism. The Inje Jong Ga was chosen since it is located in Jeonju, Hanok Village, which is a destination for tourists and gourmet enthusiasts. In-depth personal interviews were performed with Koreans and with foreign tourists who were visiting Korea. Interviews were done to provide deeper insight into the comments and subject matters. Most tourists selected "having one table setting for each (Doksang)" as the most distinctive part of Jong Ga and its cuisine. To develop the experience at a Jong Ga as a culinary destination, questionnaires were created to study six areas: preferences on length of stay, price range, food serving style, things to be improved, expectations by as a tourist at a Jong Ga, and the role of the food guide. Perceptions toward Jong Ga and its cuisine were generally positive, but the quality of service and lack of organization in establishments were perceived to be the negative factors.

        This study analyzes performance-cost ratio of various polycarbonate(PC) pigpen. The finite element models using the ANSYS program described in this paper is attractive not only because it shows excellent accuracy in analysis but also it shows the benefit of parameter study by using APDL. We have performed various parameter study of total 6 models. And we compared and analyzed the results of 6 models. From the numerical examples, we recommend model M2. Model M2 is PC pigpen with steel in PC.

        PURPOSES: To evaluate the feasibility of cut waste fishing net as a reinforced fiber for concrete. METHODS: Strength characteristics of fiber reinforced concrete using waste fishing net were investigated. The cut waste fishing nets with 4~5cm length were putted into the soil-cement and cement concrete for pavement slab. RESULTS: Compression and tensile strength of fiber reinforced concrete using waste fishing net were increased. CONCLUSIONS: It was concluded that cut waste fishing net can be used as a reinforced fiber for cement concrete. However, sometimes using cut waste fishing net leads to decrease the strength; therefore, further researches are needed for real project.

        PURPOSES: This study is to find the substantial shortcomings embedded in the government policies and practical administrative processes associated with the Korean Transportation Database (KTDB) and to propose preliminary approaches to overcome. METHODS: Administrative and socioeconomic issues on inefficiency in public and private investment and redemption was found from the literature review. Through the interview of sets of experts and practitioners, a set of faultiness embodied in the administrative procedure utilizing and managing KTDB was found and analyzed. RESULTS: This study found the erroneous administrative elements categorized into four groups: faulty socioeconomic data supporting local governors’s optimistic will yielded overestimation of future traffic demand; faulty data incidentally introduced in KTDB burdened traffic demand analysis; unavoidable misuse of KTDB worsened the unstability of KTDB; and apathy to manage the KTDB data deviated systematic management. The proposed includes the alteration of the administrative and technical systems to overcome those shortcomings. CONCLUSIONS : Erroneous administrative elements associated with KTDB should be concerned prior to indicating subsequential faultiness in demand analysis.

        This paper describes the design and implementation of a electromagnetic energy harvesting mechanism and electronic circuit for autonomous emergency call system. This analysis results show the power output of the proposed harvesting mechanism and circuit up to max power output 5V and it can hold up to 65 msec of the power generation and 10msec of the RF transmission. Based on the these testing results, the implementation of autonomous emergency call device without battery power or any external power source is feasible.

        The thermodynamic state variables in superheated region of steam table are not wholy obtained by measurements. This means that steam table contains a little error. In this study small error was artificially added to superheated variables and modeled using neural networks. The results were compared with the analysis using quadratic spline interpolation method. By and large the relative errors of variables by neural networks were sufficiently small and similar to or less than those by quadratic spline interpolation method. It was concluded that neural networks could be one good way of modeling for superheated steam table.

        Decentralized water supply systems, treating the water in users’vicinity, cutting down the distribution system, utilizing the alternative water resources(rainwater harvesting, water reclamation and reuse and so on.) and saving energy and other resources, could be categorized into POU(Point-Of-Use), POE(Point-Of-Entry) and community small scale system. From the literature review, we could thought that decentralized water supply system and hybrid system(integrating centralized and decentralized water supply system within urban water management) might have strengthening comparative advantages to centralized system with respect to: (1) water security, (2) sustainability, (3) economical affordability. Even though it is difficult to derive and quantify direct benefit advantages from decentralized and hybrid system in comparison with centralized system, (1) operational cost reduction, (2) assurance for safe and stability water supply and (3) greenhouse gas reduction can be expected from successful establishment of the former.
