        Background: Although various exercises have been performed for patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP), the effects of these exercises including joint mobilization, gym ball exercises, and breathing exercises on flexion relaxation ratio (FRR) have not been compared. Objective: To compare the effects of joint mobilization, gym ball exercises, and breathing exercises on the flexion relaxation phenomenon (FRP) and pain in patients with chronic low back pain. Design: Randomized pretest-posttest control group design. Methods: Thirty-six patients with chronic low back pain who were undergoing rehabilitation at a rehabilitation center were included. The patients were randomly divided into three groups: joint mobilization group (JMG; n=12), gym ball exercise group (GBG; n=12), and breathing exercise group (BEG; n=12). The exercises were performed for 40 minutes a day, twice a week, for a total of 12 weeks. Results: There were no significant differences in FRR between the three groups (P>.05). Significant decreases in the modified visual analog scale (MVAS) scores after intervention between the groups were found (P<.05). The GBG was significantly decreases from the JMG in the MVAS (P<.05). However, there were significant improvements between the pre- and post-interventional findings on FRR and MVAS in the three groups (P<.05). Conclusion: We demonstrated that intervention using joint mobilization, gym ball exercises, and breathing exercises improve FRP and pain in patients with CLBP.

        Background: Posterior shoulder tightness, which is a problem mainly seen in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome, disrupts the scapulohumeral rhythm between the humerus and scapulae. Objects: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of joint mobilization and stretching on shoulder muscle activity and internal rotation range of motion (ROM) of the glenohumeral joint in patients with impingement syndrome with posterior shoulder tightness. Methods: The research subjects included 22 in-patients with impingement syndrome with posterior shoulder tightness. They were randomly divided into two groups: one group (12 patients) was treated with joint mobilization and the other group (10 patients) was treated with stretching for the posterior shoulder tightness. Each treatment was performed five times a week for two weeks, and there were 15 sessions for each treatment. The ROM of the internal rotation and muscle activities of shoulder joint were evaluated pretest and posttest in each group. Electromyography data were collected from the upper, middle, and lower trapezius and serratus anterior during shoulder abduction of 90°, 120°, and 150°. Results: Both the joint mobilization and stretching groups showed significant decreases in muscle activity in the upper, middle, and lower trapezius on the posttest (p < 0.05). There was a significant difference in serratus anterior at 150° (p < 0.05), but there was no significant difference between group in post-hoc analysis (p > 0.025). The internal rotation ROM was significantly increased in the stretching group compared to that in the joint mobilization group (p < 0.025). Conclusion: This study found that both joint mobilization and stretching for posterior shoulder tightness were effective in muscle activity during arm abduction, also in order to increase internal rotation ROM of shoulder joint, stretching was effective in patients with impingement syndrome with posterior tightness.

        Pipe for water supply is one of the important parts that supply water to home, factory and so on. Water leakage in pipe for water supply due to deterioration, ground sinking and earthquake leads to enormous economical loss. Therefore, pipe for water supply should be designed to satisfy the requirement of, for instance, structural stability and fatigue durability. The purpose of this study was to investigate the fatigue durability of flexible joint for relaxing the impact due to earthquake and ground sinking. For this purpose, flexible joint was simulated using dynamic characteristics and fatigue life. As the results, the problem of fatigue durability may occur when flexible joint and pipe for water supply are treated as rigid body in simulation. Thus it means that the role of packing in flexible joint is very important and packing should be designed as optimal conditions that are considered fatigue durability as well as waterproof.

        유니버설 조인트는 두 회전 축 사이에서 힘을 전달하는 구성 요소이며, 구동축과 피동축이 나란히 정렬되지 않아도 나란히 정 렬되지 않아도 동력전달이 가능하게 하며 각도 변화가 있는 전동축에서도 효율적으로 동력을 전달시키는 부품으로서 자동차의 동력전달 장치에서 많이 적용되고 있다. 차량의 경량화를 위해 고강도 알루미늄의 사용이 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 알루미늄 6061 재질을 사용하여 유니버셜 조인트 샤프트를 성형하기 위해 환봉 압출, U-Shape 성형, Spline 성형 등에 대한 단조 해석 연구하였다. Bar Extrusion 성형 시 23.3Ton, U-shape 성형 시 62.2Ton, Spline 성형 시 3.2Ton, 총 Cycle Time 226sec의 성형 조건을 산출하였으며, 이를 적용하여 알루미늄 유니버셜 조인트를 제작하였다. 비틀림 시험을 통해 토크값은 평균 425.8(N・m), 비틀림 각은 평균 171.6° 의 실험값을 통해 기존 제품에 비해 단조 제품이 12.0∼14.4%의 비틀림 성능의 향상을 보였다.

        본 연구는 국유림경영제도 중 하나인 공동산림사업의 실태분석을 위해 참여형 산림관리 원칙인 이해 관계자의 참여, 의사결정의 투명성, 행위자와 이해관계자의 책무성을 이용하여 공동산림사업 업무담당자를 대상으로 Likert 5점 척도와 기입식으로 구성된 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문조사 결과, 이해관계 자 참여(10문항) 항목에서는 다양한 이해관계자가 참여할 수 있는 기회제공이 평균 3.3으로 가장 높게 나타났고, 분쟁 및 갈등 해결 구조 구축이 2.3점으로 가장 낮은 점수를 나타냈다. 투명성(7문항)은 사업에 대한 정보공개가 3.4점, 지역주민을 대상으로 한 정보공유, 교육·홍보활동이 2.7점으로 분석되었으며, 마지막으로 책무성(7문항)에서는 공동사업수행자의 자세한 역할규명 여부가 3.3점, 다양한 이해 관계자와 함께 사업에 대한 내·외부 모니터링 및 평가 여부가 2.7점으로 분석되었다. 참여형 산림관리 지표를 통해 분석된 본 연구결과는 추후 국유림 참여경영의 활성화를 위한 계획수립에 기초자료로써 활용될 것으로 판단된다.

        The pipe for water supply is essential part among SOC (Social Overhead Capital) fields. Pipe for water supply is mainly damaged by deterioration of pipe, earthquake, ground sinking and so on. The leakage of water have been led to enormous economical loss in our country. The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural stability of flexible joint for relaxing impact due to earthquake and ground sinking. For this purpose, flexible joint was simulated using tensile load and internal pressure. As the results, flexible joint for structural stability was needed the tensile load of below 3 ton and internal pressure of below 60 kgf/cm2. However, it is considered that real flexible joint should be applied more high safety factor than that of simulation result because of combined stress.

        최근 홍콩에서 중국어를 모국어로 사용하지 않는 학생들을 합격시킨 주류 중등학교들이 급증하고 있다.(2016, 입법회). 이 학교는 이러한 학생의 학습 차이를 고려하여 다양한 대처를 필요로 하고 있다. 다양한 방식을 채택하여 학생들이 중국어 학습을 잘 마칠 수 있게 지원하여, 그들의 진학이 구직난을 해소하고 사회 상류로의 진출 기회가 될 수 있도록 해야 한다.(Leung et al 2017; Loh & Tam, 2016). (중국은) 중국어를 사용하지 않는 학생들에게 적합한 중국어 교육법을 제공하 는 것이 필요하다고 판단하고 있으며, 이는 해결해야 할 급선무 문제가 되었다.(shum, 2015). 본 연구는 이러한 홍콩의 상황에 집중하였다. 「阅读促进学习」(Rose&Martin, 2012) 교수법은 비 중국어 사용자 학생들의 비율이 비교적 높은 중등학교 한 곳을 선정하고, 제2외국어 교육 과정을 중국어로 하는 대외한어교육현장에서 제 2외국어 학습 기관(홍콩교육국, 2014) 및 국제 일반 중등학교 교육 증서(IGCSE)의 교육과정 개요를 참조하여, 본 교육과정(커리큘럼)을 수정 하였다. 협업과 회의를 통해 공동으로 수업을 준비하고 교육현장을 관찰하는데, 교사와 학생들이 모인 소그룹 인터뷰, 필기 및 수업 원본 분석 등의 방법을 진행하였다. 이를 통해 본 교수법이 학생들에게 설명문 종류의 글을 읽고 쓰는 능력을 향상시키고 학습 동기를 높일 수 있는지의 여부를 검토하였다. 교사는 학생들이 본문을 자세하게 읽도록 한 후, 그룹 협업을 통해 그 문장에 서 핵심 키워드를 발췌하여 노트에 기록하도록 학생들을 지도하는 방법(Note Making)을 시행하고, 이어서 학생들은 상호 간의 교류와 협력에 의해 문장 속에 등장한 핵심 단어들과 구 형식, 문장 형식을 활용하여, 협업을 통해 새로운 글을 창작하고, 마지막으로 학생들이 각자 개별적으로 작문을 수행하게 하였다. 본 연구를 통해, 상술한 단계가 학생들이 문장 형식에 따른 다양한 언어 능력의 차이를 이해하도록 돕는데 효과적이며, 서로 다른 글쓰기 활동에 활용할 수 있음을 발견했다. 원전 분석 및 소그룹 인터뷰 또한 위 교수법이 학생들의 중국어 학습 동기를 향상시키는 데 효과가 있음과 학생들의 학습에 대한 믿음이 증가한 것을 보여주었다. 본 연구는 阅读促进学习 교수법이 학생들의 읽기와 쓰기 능력을 개선하고, 각 교육 절차의 실천적 성과들이 모두 시사성이 있음을 검증하였다는데 그 의의가 있다.

        Background: Measurement of passive ankle dorsiflexion range of motion (ADROM) is often part of a physical therapy assessment. Objects: The objective of this study was to identify the effects of subtalar joint neutral position (SJNP) on passive ADROM according to knee position in young adults. Methods: We recruited 14 young adult participants for this study. Two examiners used a universal goniometer to measure passive ADROM with and without SJNP. Dorsiflexion force was applied to the forefoot until maximum resistance was reached in two knee positions (extension and 90˚ flexion) in the prone position. Subtalar joint position was also recorded at maximum ADROM. Passive ADROM was measured three times at different knee and subtalar joint positions, in random order. Two-way repeated-measures analysis of variance was used to compare the effects of subtalar joint and knee position on passive ADROM. Results: Passive ADROM was significantly lower with than without SJNP during both knee extension (mean difference: 7.4˚) and 90˚ flexion (mean difference: 16.9˚) (p<.01). Passive ADROM was significantly higher during 90˚ knee flexion than during knee extension both with (mean difference: 5.8˚) and without SJNP (mean difference: 15.2˚) (p<.01). The valgus position of the subtalar joint was significantly lower with than without SJNP during both knee extension (mean difference: 3.3˚) and 90˚ flexion (mean difference: 4.3˚) (p<.01). Conclusion: Our results indicate that the gastrocnemius may limit ankle dorsiflexion more than the soleus does. Greater dorsiflexion at the subtalar and midtarsal joints was observed during passive ADROM measurement without than that with SJNP; therefore, SJNP should be maintained for accurate measurement of ADROM.

        Additive manufacturing (AM) is a highly innovative method for joining dissimilar materials for industrial applications. In the present work, AM of STS630 and Ti-6Al-4V powder alloys on medium entropy alloys (MEAs) NiCrCo and NiCrCoMn is studied. The STS630 and Ti64 powders are deposited on the MEAs. Joint delamination and cracks are observed after the deposition of Ti64 on the MEAs, whereas the deposition of STS630 on the MEAs is successful, without any cracks and joint delamination. The microstructure around the fusion zone interface is characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Intermetallic compounds are formed at the interfacial regions of MEA-Ti64 samples. In addition, Vicker’s hardness value increased dramatically at the joint interface between MEAs and Ti-6Al-4V compared to that between MEAs and STS630. This result is attributed to the brittle nature of the joint, which can lead to a decrease in the joint strength.

        Background: After stroke, in order to improve gait function, it is necessary to increase the muscle strength and to enhance the propriocetive function of the lower extremity. Objects: This study aimed to compare the effects of open kinetic chain (OKC) versus closed kinetic chain (CKC) isokinetic exercise of the hemiparetic knee using the isokinetic equipment on lower extremity sensorimotor function and gait ability in patients with chronic stroke. Methods: Thirty participants with chronic hemiplegia (> 6 months post-stroke) were randomly divided into 2 equal groups: CKC group and OKC group. Patients from both groups attended conventional physiotherapy sessions 3 times a week for 6 weeks. Additionally, subjects from the CKC group performed isokinetic exercise using the CKC attachment, while those from the OKC group performed isokinetic exercise using the OKC attachment. The isokinetic knee and ankle muscles strength, position sense of the knee joint, and spatiotemporal gait parameters were measured before and after interventions. Results: The knee muscles peak torque/body weight (PT/BW) and hamstring/quadriceps (H/Q) ratio significantly increased in both groups (p<.01). In particular, ankle plantarflexors PT/BW, position sense of the knee, gait velocity, and spatial gait symmetry significantly improved in the CKC group (p<.01, p<.05, p<.01, and p<.01, respectively). Conclusion: CKC isokinetic exercise can be an effective therapeutic intervention for the improvement of sensorimotor function of the lower extremity and gait functions, such as gait velocity and symmetry. CKC position in isokinetic strength training is effective to improve functional ability in patients with chronic stroke.

        Background: Surgery has been known as an inefficient approach to reduce back pain in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis; therefore, non-surgical treatments are necessary. However, there has been little research to analyze the effect of non-surgical treatments on lumbar spinal stenosis pain. Objective: To identify the effectiveness of 2 physiotherapeutic treatment approaches to relieve pain due to lumbar spinal stenosis. Design: Randomized controlled trial Methods: The participants were 36 lumbar spinal stenosis patients who were randomized in the joint mobilization group (JMG) and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation group (TENSG). Joint mobilization (JM) was conducted at the posteroanterior joint in the spinous process of the lumbar spine with stenosis. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) was applied on the lumbar spine with stenosis at a high frequency and intensity. Results: Visual analog scale (VAS) pain score significantly decreased in both groups, and the VAS value decreased more after JMG than that after TENSG. The pain thresholds of both groups also significantly increased, and that of JMG increased more compared to TENSG. In both the groups, significant improvements in VAS and pain thresholds were found, and JMG showed better results than TENSG. Conclusions: JM and TENS showed significant relief in both pain threshold and painpain, and JM showed more advanced relief compared to TENS.

        목 적:Knee 자기공명영상에서 TSE 시퀀스에 SMS(Simultaneous MultiSlice)를 적용하여 유용성을 평가하고자 한다. 대상 및 방법:2019년 1월 10일부터 2019년 1월 31일까지 무릎 관절의 이상으로 본원에 내원 하여 진료중인 환자 30명(남 17명, 여 13명, 평균 50.25세)을 대상으로 conventional turbo spin echo(이하 cTSE)와 SMS turbo spin echo(이하 sTSE) 기법으로 T2WI와 PDWI sagittal 영상을 획득하였다. 전신용 3.0T MRI에 15 channel knee coil을 사용하였고, interpolation은 cTSE에만 적용하였다. 또한, 유용성 평가를 위하여 서울시 소재 임의의 5개 병원에서 cTSE의 검사시간을 조사하여 sTSE와 비교 평가하였다. 정량적 평가를 위해 획득한 영상을 viewing system으로 전송하여, ACL과 PCL이 가장 크게 보이는 부분에 ROI를 그려서 SNR을 측정하였고, infrapatellar fat pad(이하 IPFP)와의 CNR을 구하였다. 정성적 평가는 PACS로 전송된 영상을 영상의학과 전문의 2명이 각 시퀀스 간의 진단능과 영상품질에 대해 5점 척도로 평가하였다. 통계적 검증은 t-test를 이용하여 유의성을 검증하였다(p<0.05). 결 과:cTSE와 sTSE 두 시퀀스에서 T2WI로 촬영한 ACL의 SNR은 각각 10.68±2.6, 9.49±2.38, PCL의 SNR은 7.80±3.02, 6.93±1.73이었고, PDWI로 촬영한 ACL의 SNR은 21.39±6.09, 16.54±6.49, PCL의 SNR은 12.27±5.63, 8.51±2.86이었 다. cTSE와 sTSE 두 시퀀스의 T2WI에서 IPFP의 SNR은 각각 101.96±22.99, 97.59±15.96, PDWI에서는 135.51±32.97, 116.66±25.97이었다. cTSE와 sTSE 두 시퀀스에서 T2WI로 촬영한 ACL과 IPFP와의 CNR(이하 CNRACL-IPFP)은 각각 91.19±23.01, 79.10±14.91, PCL과 IPFP와의 CNR(이하 CNRPCL-IPFP)은 94.07±21.56, 90.66±14.7이었고, PDWI 에서 CNRACL-IPFP은 114.12±30.73, 100.12±24.18, CNRPCL-IPFP은 123.24±30.29, 109.1±24.56이었다. cTSE와 sTSE 의 T2WI로 촬영한 영상의 진단능을 정성적으로 평가한 결과 각각 4.49±0.49, 4.62±0.35이었고, PDWI에 서는 4.45±0.49, 4.55±0.35였다. 영상 획득 시간은 cTSE T2WI에서 3분 32초 이었고, sTSE T2WI에서는 1분 49초였으 며, cTSE PDWI에서는 3분 20초, sTSE PDWI에서는 1분 48초로, SMS를 사용하는 시퀀스에서 각각 50.9%, 54% 감소하 였다. cTSE와 sTSE 두 시퀀스의 SNR과 CNR에 대한 통계적 유의성 검정(t-test) 결과 T2WI와 PDWI 모두에서 p-value 가 0.05 이상으로 나타나 두 영상 간의 화질의 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 결 론:sTSE 기법은 cTSE에 비해 화질의 변화 없이 검사시간을 약 50% 감소시킬 수 있어 소아나 넓은 검사 부위에 임상적으로 유용할 것으로 사료된다.

        Background: Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a single most arthritic disease. Knee joint space width (JSW) is commonly used for grading severity of knee OA. However, previous studies did not established criterion validity and test-retest reliability of ultrasound (US) image for measuring JSW. Objects: The aim of this study was to establish criterion validity and test-retest reliability of US measurement of medial and lateral knee JSW. Methods: Twenty-nine subjects with knee OA were participated. The US and X-ray were used to measure knee JSW. One sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was used to confirm the data normal distribution. Pearson correlation coefficient and ICC were used to calculated and establish criterion validity and test-retest reliability, respectively. Results: US measurement of medial and lateral knee JSW was highly correlated with radiographic imaging measure (r=.714 and .704, respectively). Test-retest reliabilities of medial and lateral knee JSW were excellent correlated (ICC=.959 for medial side and .988 for lateral side, respectively). Conclusion: US may be valid tool to measure knee JSW.

        The purpose of this study was to assess the changes in balance and proprioception of adults with limited ankle joint dorsiflexion, after the application of talocrural joint mobilization. The subjects of this study included 23 college students in their twenties with limited ankle joint dorsiflexion. The students were randomly assigned to the ankle joint mobilization group (AJMG, n=12) and the control group (CG, n=11). After 2 weeks of intervention using grade III talocrural joint mobilization in the anterior-posterior movement, the balance and proprioception of the subjects were assessed. Static/dynamic balance capabilities and ankle proprioception were analyzed using paired t-test and independent t-test. The dynamic balance and proprioception of AJMG were significantly improved after intervention (p<.05), In the comparison between the groups after the intervention, the dynamic balance and proprioceptive sense of AJMG were significantly improved compared to the control group (p<.05). This study suggests that AJMG can help improve the dynamic balance and proprioception.

        The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching exercise and joint mobilization on ankle joint range of motion (ROM), plantar pressure, and balance in subjects with stroke. Thirty patients (n=30) were organized into three groups, each of which received different treatments: PNF stretching (n=10), joint mobilization (n=10), and joint mobilization and PNF stretching combined (n=10). Each group received three exercise sessions per week for four weeks. The ankle ROM was measured using a goniometer, and plantar pressure and balance ability were measured using BioResque static posturography. In comparison within each group, the joint mobilization group and the joint mobilization with PNF stretching group showed significant improvements in ankle ROM, plantar pressure, and balance ability (p<.05). In comparison between the groups, a statistically significant difference was found in SECS change between the PNF stretching group, joint mobilization group and the joint mobilization with PNF stretching group. This study found demonstrates that the joint mobilization and joint mobilization with the PNF stretching methods were effective in improving ankle ROM, plantar pressure, and balance ability in stroke patients.

        The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of joint mobilization and manual stretching exercises in patients with hallux valgus. Twenty-three participants were divided into two groups; joint mobilization (n=11) and manual stretching exercises (n=12). The subjects participated in the experiment for 15minutes, three times a week, four weeks. The joint mobilization (Grade III, Maitland) was performed to experimental group for a minute and then rested for 10 seconds for each set. The manual stretching was performed to control group with three exercise session (preparatory and finishing exercises, agonist contraction exercises, agonist contraction and hold-relax exercises). In the results of the study, intragroup comparison of the deformity angles (DA) was shown to decrease from 15.18° to 13.09° in the joint mobilization group (p<.05) and from 19.00° to 16.83° in the stretching exercises group (p<.05). However, left static foot pressure (LSFP), right static foot pressure (RSFP), left dynamic foot pressure (LDFP) and right dynamic foot pressure (RDFP) did not significantly increase or decrease after the experiment. Intergroup differences also were not statistically significant in all variables (p>.05). The current study suggests that JM and MSE are effective in decreasing the DA in patients with hallux valgus.

        Mechanical components are to be produced with accurate dimensions in order to function properly in assemblies of a machine. Once designs of mechanical components are created, designers examine the designs by adopting many known experimental methods. A primary test method includes stress and strain evaluation of structural parts. In addition, fatigue test and vibration analysis are an important test method for mechanical components. Real experiments at a laboratory are established when products are manufactured. Since design changes should be done before producing the designs in factories, rapid modifications for new designs are required in production industries. FEM simulation is a proper choice for a design evaluation with speed at a detail stage in design process. This research focuses modeling and mechanical simulation of a mechanical component in order to ensure structural safety. In this paper, a universal joint, being used in driving axels of vehicles, is studied as a target component. A design model is created and tested in some ways by using commercial software of FEM. The designed component is being twisted to transmit heavy power and thus, torsional stress should be under strengths of the component’s material. The next is fatigue analysis to convince fatigue cycles to be within the endurance limit of the material. Another test is a vibration analysis for rotational components. This research draws final conclusions from these test analyses and recommends whether the designed model is under safety condition in terms of mechanical structure.
