매미나방(Lymatria dispar (Linne))은 나비목 독나방과에 속하는 곤충으로 미국 북동부와 캐나다 남동부에서 활엽수에 막대한 피해를 입히는 해충이다. 이에 북미식물보호기구(North American Plant Protection Organization)에서는 매미나방을 중요 검역해충으로 지정하여 유입, 정착되는 것을 막고 있어 검역적으로 중요한 해충이다. 본 연구에서는 매미나방의 생활사를 알아보고 매미나방 방제의 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 매미나방의 난괴를 일주일 간격으로 채집하여 월동에 따라 부화하는 기간을 조사하였다. 실험은 2012년 1월부터 4월 초까지 실험을 진행하였으며 난괴 5개를 개당 5조각을 나누어 1월 19일부터 일주일간격으로 채집하였다. 채집된 난괴는 항온조건(20℃)에서 부화일을 측정하였다. 상대습도는 65%, 명암 14L:10D로 고정하였으며 조사는 24시간 간격으로 실시하였다. 실험결과 최초 부화일은 1주차(2012. 1. 19)에 채집된 알은 25.4±3.3일, 2주차 (2012. 1. 26)에 채집된 알은 21.8±1.9일, 3주차(2012. 2. 2)에 채집된 알은 19.6±2.7일, 4주차(2012. 2. 9)에 채집된 알은 20.0±1.9일, 5주차(2012. 2. 16)에 채집된 알은 19.0±3.2일로 나타났다. 또한 총 부화기간은 1주차는 42.8±6.4일, 2주차는 29.0±12.6일, 3주차는 33.8±9.8일, 4주차는 24.0±8.4일, 16.6±4.5일로 나타났다.

The aim of this study is to observe the attraction of four colored lights against beet armyworm (Spodoptera exigua). The visual preference of the beet armyworm for light-emitting diodes (LEDs) was examined by LED equipped phototactic chamber in the dark room at 27 ± 0.5°C and 60 ± 5% relative humidity. Evaluated specific wavelengths of LEDs were blue (470 ± 10 nm), green (520 ± 5 nm), yellow (590 ± 5 nm) and red (625 ± 10 nm), and compared with that of the commonly luring lamp used fluorescent (380-800 nm) which served as controls. The light intensity was tested at 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 lx, and light-exposure time was determined at 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 min. All of the light treatments with 40 lx intensity and the 60 min light-exposure time showed the highest attraction rate to S. exigua. Based on attraction rate of the green LED (88.9%) was the most attractive to S. exigua, followed by blue LED (81.1%), yellow LED (63.3%) and red LED (56.7%). In comparisons with LED and fluorescent light, the attractive rate to green LED against beet worm was more effective than that of fluorescent (80%) light. Overall, these results indicated that the eco-friendly LED could be a more effective substitute for the chemical free insect pest control system because of the various advantages.

The behavioral responses of Plutella xylostella (Lepidoptera: Plutellidae) to four high power light emmitting diodes (HPLEDs) were tested at various illuminance intensity and light exposure time using a HPLED-equipped Y-maze chamber. Preference tests were conducted using the high power light emmitting diodes (HPLEDs) in the dark room at 27±0.5℃ and 60±0.5% relative humidity. Evaluated specific wavelengths were blue, green, yellow and red HPLEDs. The illuminance intensity was tested at 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 lx and fixed at 30 min. As a result, the attraction rate of the green HPLED at 60 lx was the best effective (98.3%) to P. xylostella, followed by red HPLED of 60 lx (86.5%), yellow HPLED of 60 lx (83.6%), and blue HPLED of 40 lx (72.0%), respectively. Depending on the change of light exposure time (5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 min), green HPLED showed the potential attraction under the 15 min. These results may be used as information for developing an eco-friendly insect pest control system. Further research needs to be performed to evaluate the behavioral responses to single and multiple HPLED sources in the field.

The object of this study was the acaricidal activities of acetophenone (AP) and its derivatives for their potentials as natural acaricides using fumigant and contact toxicity bioassays against Dermatophagoides farinae, D. pteronyssinus, and Tyrophagus putrescentiae. Based on the LD50 values of AP derivatives against D. farinae, 3’-methoxyAP (0.41 ㎍/㎠) was 89.9 times more toxic than DEET (36.87 ㎍/㎠), followed by 4’-methoxyAP (0.52 ㎍/㎠), 2’-methoxyAP (0.75 ㎍/㎠), 2’-hydroxy-5’-methoxyAP (1.03 ㎍/㎠), 2’-hydroxy -4’-methoxyAP (1.29 ㎍/㎠), AP (1.48 ㎍/㎠), 2’-hydroxyAP (1.74 ㎍/㎠), 2’,5’-dimethoxyAP (1.87 ㎍/㎠), 2’,4’-dimethoxyAP (2.10 ㎍/㎠), and benzyl benzoate (9.92 ㎍/㎠). With regard to structure-activity relationships between acaricidal activity and functional groups (hydroxyl and methoxy groups) on the AP skeleton, a mono-methoxy group (2’-, 3’-, and 4’-methoxyAP) on the AP skeleton was more toxic than the other groups (2’,4’- and 2’,5’-dimethoxyAP, 2’- and 4’-hydroxyAP, 2’-hydroxy-4’-methoxyAP, 2’-hydroxy-5’-methoxyAP, and 4’-hydroxy-3’-methoxyAP). These results indicated that acaricidal activity against three mite species was changed with the introduction of functional radicals (hydroxyl and methoxy groups) onto the AP skeleton.

In this study, we evaluated the acaricidal activities of AP and its derivatives for their potentials as natural acaricides using the vapor phase and contact toxicity bioassays against Dermatophagoides spp. and Tyrophagus putrescentiae, and then compared with that of commercial acaricide such as benzyl benzoate. The acaricidal constituent of A. koreana was isolated by various chromatographic techniques and identified as 2’-H-4’-MAP. In the vapor phase toxicity bioassay, based on the LD50 values of 2’-H-4’-MAPand its derivatives against D. farinae, 2’-MAP (1.25 ㎍/㎠) was 8.0 times more effective than benzyl benzoate (10.00 ㎍/㎠), followed by 3’-MAP (1.26 ㎍/㎠), 4’-MAP (1.29 ㎍/㎠), 2’-H-4’-MAP (1.75 ㎍/㎠), and 2’-H-5’-MAP (1.96 ㎍/㎠). In the contact toxicity bioassay, 3’-MAP (0.58 ㎍/㎠) was 12.97 times more toxic than benzyl benzoate (7.52 ㎍/㎠), followed by 2’-MAP (0.64 ㎍/㎠), 2’-H-4’-MAP (0.76 ㎍/㎠), 4’-MAP (0.77 ㎍/㎠), and 2’-H-5’-MAP (1.16 ㎍/㎠). The acaricidal activities of 2’-H-4’-MAP derivatives against D. pteronyssinus and T. putrescentiae were similar to those against D. farinae. These results indicated that acaricidal activities of 2’-H-4’-MAP derivatives against the three mite species were changed with the introduction of hydroxyl (-OH) and methyl (-CH3) groups onto the acetophenone skeleton.

Maize weevil is one of the most common and critical storage pest in the world. In this study, the insecticidal activity of the methanol extracts derived from Caesalpinia sappan was evaluated against adults of maize weevil, using by direct contact and fumigant methods. Based on the two methods, ethyl acetate fraction of the C. sappan extracts had 100% mortality against Maize weevil adults at 10 mg. The biological constituent of C. sappan extract was isolated by various chromatographic techniques and identified as juglone. On the basis of 72 h LD50 values, in the direct contact bioassay, the insecticidal activity of juglone (0.010 mg/cm2) was the most effective, followed by 1,4-NQ (0.018 mg/cm2) and menadione (0.087 mg/cm2). In a fumigant bioassay, the insecticidal activity of juglone (0.014 mg/cm2) was the most effective, followed by 1,4-NQ (0.015 mg/cm2) against maize weevil adults. On the other hand, menadione, lawsone, and 2-methoxy-1,4-NQ observed no insecticidal activity or weak. These results suggested that active compound of C. sappan materials could be used as biological control agent against maize weevil. Therefore, further research should be performed to the structure activity relationship of juglone and compared with its derivatives.

시판되고 있는 16종의 살충제 중 buprofezin이 포함된 7종의 혼합제와 8종의 단제를 선정하여 귤가루깍지벌레(Planococcus citri)의 약충과 성충에 대하여 약제감수성을 조사하였다. 성충에 대해서 buprofezin이 15%와 20%가 포함된 합제(buprofezin 15%+acetamiprid 4%, buprofezin 20%+dinotepuran 15%, buprofezin 20%+thiacloprid 5%, buprofezin 20%+thiametoxam 3.3%)는 90% 이상의 높은 살충활성을 나타내었다. 약충에 대해서도 buprofezin함량이 높은 약제(buprofezin 15%+acetamiprid 4%, buprofezin 20%+dinotepuran 15%, buprofezin 20%+thiacloprid 5%, buprofezin 20%+thiametoxam 3.3%) 일수록 살충활성이 높았다. 그러나 buprofezin 15%+etofenprox 3% 약제는 buprofezin함량이 높음에도 불구하고 약충과 성충 모두에 살충활성이 낮았다. 예외적으로 buprofezin 10%+clothianidin 3%는 buprofezin함량이 낮음에도 불구하고 약충과 성충에 각각 96.6%, 86.6%의 높은 살충활성은 나타내었다. 살충활성이 우수한 5종 약제로 3령 약충에 대한 침투이행성과 잔효성을 검증한 결과에서 약제 모두 살충효과가 낮았다.

Insecticidal susceptibilities of 16 registered insecticides on each developmental stages of Phthorimaea operculella were investigated and further examined the contact, oral and residual toxicities after chosen from insecticides showing good effect. Mortality, longevity and effect on reproduction of 16 insecticides to P. operculella adults were also investigated. To the eggs and pupae, only spinosad showed 71.1% inhibition rate of egg hatch and 66.7% inhibition rate of emergence. To the 3rd nymphs, fenitrothion (LC50 336.6 ppm), esfenvalerate (LC50 8.6 ppm), ethofenprox (LC50 35.7 ppm), and emamectin benzoate (LC50 0.05 ppm) showed oral toxicity over 90% and esfenvalerate (LC50 0.87 ppm), ethofenprox (LC50 16.5 ppm), emamectin benzoate (LC50 0.53 ppm), and spinosad (LC50 2.48 ppm) showed the contact toxicity over 90%. To the adults, mortalities of insecticides were showed as below: deltamethrin and spinosad showed perfect mortality 48 h after treatment; esfenvalerate, ethofenprox, and thiamethoxam showed 40 - 60% mortalities; but the others are not showed any effect. Fecundities of female adults were inhibited by esfenvalerate, emamectin benzoate, and dinotefuran, compare to that of the control, but there were no statistical differences to that of ethofenprox, benfuracarb, thiamethoxam, clothianidin, and diflubenzuron. Adult longevity was showed no difference compare to that of the control. Residual effect of emamectin benzoate showed perfect insecticidal activity at 14 days after treatment and the next ethofenprox showed over 90% at 7 days after treatment.

The influence of electron beam irradiation on each developmental stage and reproduction of Spodoptera litura were examined. Eggs, larvae, pupae, and adults were irradiated at target doses of 30, 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 Gy. When eggs were irradiated with 100 Gy, egg hatching was perfectly inhibited. When irradiated to the larvae, pupation was inhibited at 100 Gy and larval period was delayed. When irradiated to the pupae, emergence was inhibited at 100 Gy and above. When irradiated to the adults, longevity and fecundity did not show any differences. However, egg hatching was strongly decreased at 100 Gy and above. Also, electron beam irradiation was not induced the instantaneous death of S. litura. Reciprocal crosses between irradiated and unirradiated moths demonstrated that males were more radiotolerant than females. Adult longevity was not affected in all stages. The levels of DNA damage in S. litura adults were evaluated using the alkaline comet assay. Our results indicate that electron beam irradiation increased levels of DNA damage. These results suggest that electron beam irradiation induced abnormal development and reproduction by DNA damage in S. litura.

The cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii Glover is an important sap-sucking pest of many pant, including cucumber and pepper. The objective of the present study was to determine the effects of sublethal concentrations of two insecticides (imidacloprid and flonicamid) and the action mechanisms on the feeding behavior of A. gossypii. The median lethal concentrations (LC50) of imidacloprid and flonicamid for adult A. gossypii were 2.01 and 1.92 ppm, respectively. The sublethal concentrations of imidacloprid were 0.22 ppm (LC10) and 0.82 ppm (LC30), and those of flonicamid were 0.094 ppm (LC10) and 0.56 ppm (LC30). The developmental period of A. gossypii nymphs at LC30 was 3.6 days for both insecticide which shorter than controls (4.2 days). Adult longevities at LC10 and LC30 of imidacloprid were 15.2 and 13.6 days, respectively. Adult longevity at LC10 and LC30 of flonicamid was 11.1 and 9.9 days, respectively. Control adult longevity was 15.5 days. Total fecundity was decreased at both sublethal concentration of two insecticides. Feeding behavior analysis using an electrical penetration graph showed that sublethal doses of imidacloprid and flonicamid had significant effects on the duration of phloem ingestion. However, higher doses of flonicamid induced starvation by inhibition of phloem ingestion and higher doses of imidacloprid induced contact toxicity rather than inhibition of feeding behavior.

Methyl bromide (MB) is a widely used fumigant in most of the countries for quarantine purpose. However, MB has been phasing out and under control in many countries because it is listed as an ozone-depleting substance under the Montreal Protocol. In this study, we have investigated the effectiveness of phosphine fumigation on wood pests for developing an MB alternatives. We evaluated two bioassay methods; wooden cube (10×10×10 cm) and normal fumigation procedures in comparison with effectiveness of phosphine (PH3) penetrations into the timber block. Fumigation to adults of Reticulitermes speratus was carried in a desiccator system for 24hr at 5 and 15 ℃. As a result, LC99 of PH3 to R. speratus in wooden cubes and insect breeding dish at 5℃ was 0.183 and 0.177 mg L-1, respectively. LC99 of PH3 in wooden cubes and insect breeding dish at 15℃ was 0.077 and 0.078 mg L-1, respectively.

Toxicities of 10 insecticides were examined against late third instars of Culex tritaeniorhynchus using the direct-contact mortality bioassay. Six geospatially distant field mosquitoes were collected from Chuncheon-si (designated CC-CT), Hwaseong (HS-CT), Seosan (SS-CT) Jeonju (JJ-CT), Daegu (DG-CT), and Busan (BS-CT) in the Republic of Korea (ROK). Marked regional variations of insecticide susceptibility were observed. Field populations of SS-CT, JJ-CT and DG-CT from agricultural areas showed higher to extremely higher insecticide susceptibility to pyrethroids than those of CC-CT, HS-CT and BS-CT strains from none agricultural areas. Extremely high to low levels of susceptibility were measured: bifenthrin, susceptible ratio (SR) = 2.7–896.3; β-cyfluthrin, SR = 1.8–633.3; α-cypermethrin, SR = 1.2–1,051.9; deltamethrin, SR = 1.3–711.1; permethrin, SR = 1.5–1,053.4 etofenprox, SR = 2.2–29.3; chlorfenapyr, SR = 5.1–103.6; chlorpyrifos, SR = 2.3–337.0; fenitrothion, SR = 2.0–142.3 and fenthion, SR = 1.4–186.2. Culex tritaeniorhynchus populations from rice paddies had been under heavy selection pressure due to the agricultural insecticides and that’s why the mosquito species demonstrated high resistance to pyrethroids which were used for a long time to control agricultural pests in the localities. These results indicate that careful selection and rotational use of these insecticides mayresult in continued satisfactory control against field populations of Japanese encephalitis vector mosquitoes.

톱다리개미허리노린재(Riptortus pedestris [Fabricius] [Hemiptera: Alydidae])는 다식성이며 콩에서 특히 중요한 해충으로 봄과 이른 여름에는 보리와 참깨에서도 발생한다. 계절적 발생소장과 기주식물의 적합성과의 상관관계를 이해하기 위하여 기주식물의 종자를 다른 조합으로 제공(보리, 참깨, 콩, 보리 + 참깨, 보리 + 참깨 + 콩)하여 톱다리개미허리노린재의 알에서 성충까지 발육과 산란율을 관찰하였다. 참깨만 공급하였을 때 2령충에서 발육이 정지하였고, 모든 개체가 사망하였다. 보리만 공급한 경우 65%의 톱다리개미허리노린재는 5령충까지 발육하였고, 6%의 노린재가 성충으로 우화하였다. 5령충까지 발육기간은 보리만 제공하였을 경우 24.8일, 보리+참깨를 제공하였을 경우 23.6일, 콩만 제공하였을 경우 15.0일, 보리 + 참깨 + 콩을 제공하였을 경우 14.7일이 걸렸다. 성충이 된 노린재는 콩만 먹이로 한 것이 보리+참깨+콩을 먹이로 제공한 것보다 산란전 기간이 길었지만, 산란수는 더 많았다. 따라서 보리와 참깨의 종자는 톱다리개미허리노린재의 적합한 기주가 될 수 없다.

An assessment was made of the biological control potential of mud loaches, Misgurnus mizolepis, toward Culex pipiens molestus, in laboratory condition and septic tank and rainwater storage tank (RST) systems. Results were compared with those of temephos 20% emulsifiable concentrate (EC) and Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (BTI). In the laboratory tests, all M. mizolepis survived on waters from the settling tank of aerobic septic tank (AST), sump tank of AST, and RST. However, all M. mizolepis died within 3 h after introduction in the settling tank and sump tank waters of anaerobic septic tank (AnAST). Gill or dorsal fin inflammation was detected in the dead mud loaches. M. mizolepis consumed an average of 968–1087, 901–986, and 993–1087 of 1500 third instars of Cx. p. molestus in AST settling tank, AST sump tank, and RST waters, respectively. In the AST and RST systems, predation of Cx. p. molestus by mud loaches at a release rate of 900 larvae/fish resulted in complete mosquito control from the first wk after treatment through the end of the survey period for 16 wk. The average mosquito reduction rates by temephos 20% EC and BTI treatments were 28.6 and 2.1% 2 wk post-treatment, respectively. Mud loaches merit further study as a potential biological control agent for the control of mosquito populations in light of global efforts to reduce the level of highly toxic synthetic insecticides in the aquatic environment.

The green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), is one of the most serious pest in cabbage cultivation. Field survey was carried out to know the insecticide resistance levels in five main cabbage cultivation regions (Pyeong-chang, Hong-cheon, Bong-wha, Mu-ju and Je-ju) in 2009~2011. The green peach aphid can resist a wide range of insecticides in five surveyed local populations. Among the nine tested insecticides, four chemicals (methomyl, bifenthrin, pymetrozine and flonicarmid) showed less than 60% mortality in the recommended concentration in most years of local populations. Multi resistant (MR) strain was selected from these populations and modified AChE (MACE: StoF mutation), MtoL mutation in para-type sodium channel, esterase over-expression were observed in almost of all populations including MR strain. Especially, StoF and MtoL mutations were highly correlated with resistance ratio and population based quantitative sequencing results. Therefore, these results suggested that molecular-biology based resistance monitoring can applied resistance management in M. persicae.

수원과 화성의 복숭아과원에 발생하는 7종의 나방류 해충에 대해, 성페로몬 트랩을 이용한 성충의 발생소장을 조사하였다. 복숭아순나방은 4월 하순에 월동세대의 발생을 시작으로 9월 하순까지 모두 6세대 성충 발생 피크를 보였으며, 복숭아심식나방은 6월 상순부터 7월 상순까지 한 달간 높은 밀도를 보인 이후, 3차례의 성충발생을 더 보여, 모두 4세대 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 복숭아굴나방은 4월 하순에 월동세대가 낮은 밀도로 발생한 것을 포함해, 9월 하순까지 모두 7회 발생하였다. 복숭아유리나방은 5월 중순에 첫발생을 시작으로 10월 중순까지 총 2세대 발생하는 것으로 나타났다. 사과애모무늬잎말이나방은 6월 상순에 첫세대가 나온 이후 11월 상순까지 모두 5세대 발생하는 것으로 보인다. 사과무늬잎말이나방은 6월 상순, 8월상순, 9월 중순으로 모두 3세대 발생하였다. 사과굴나방은 4월 상순에 첫세대가 발생하였으며 11월 상순까지 모두 5세대 발생하였다. 사과와 배 과원에서 주로 사용되고 있는 교미교란제 (컨퓨저-R, 그린아그로텍)를 처리한 결과, 복숭아순나방, 복숭아심식나방, 사과애모무늬잎말이나방, 사과무늬잎말이나방 4종 모두에 대해서 성충의 발생 밀도가 억제되는 것을 확인하였으나, 직접적인 교미교란 효과나 작물에 대한 피해 감소 효과는 추가 검증이 필요하다. 또한 복숭아의 주요 해충을 대상으로한 복합 교미교란제의 개발이 요구되고 있다.

꽃매미 월동밀도를 감소시키기 위하여 기계유유제 등 몇가지 약제를 월동난괴 표면에 분무처리하여 본 결과 in vitro에서는 기계유유제 20배액 처리구의 경우 살란율이 90.5%로 높게 나타났다. 농가 포도원에서 같은 농도로 처리한 결과 기계유유제 20배액 처리구에서는 45.7%의 살란율을 보여 in vitro 처리와 비교하여 볼 때 낮았으나, 10배액 처리구에서는 살란율이 81.3%로 나타나 꽃매미 월동알의 부화율을 감소시킬 수 있는 친환경자재로의 활용가능성이 높았다. 꽃매미 약충 방제적기는 8℃ 이상의 온도를 적산하였을 때 299±18DD로 나타나 경북지역의 경우 남부지역인 경산, 영천, 경주 3 지역은 5월 중순경, 중북부지역은 5월 하순으로 판단되었다.

곤충에 진균병을 유발하여 사멸케 이르게 하는 곤충병원성 곰팡이는 다양한 해 충의 밀도를 자연적으로 억제하며, 최근에는 친환경적인 방제 수단으로 계발되어 여러 해충방제에 이용되고 있다. 이러한 곤충병원성 곰팡이는 생장하면서 약학적 치료제로 이용될 수 있는 다양한 이차대사산물을 분비 하는데 이 이차대사산물은 목적 생체를 촉진, 저해시키는 물질들이 포함되어 항생물질, 세포독성물질, 살충성 물질로서 쓰이고 있다. 그리하여 본 연구에서는 우리나라 토양에서 분리된 많은 수 의 다양한 347개 곤충병원성 곰팡이 균주의 배양액 중에서 식물병원성 세균 Ralstonia solanacearum, 병원성 세균 Escherichia coli에 항균효과를 가지는 곤충 병원성 곰팡이 배양액과 항산화효과를 가지는 곤충병원성 곰팡이 배양액을 빠르 고 쉽게 선발하였다. 그 결과, 전체 347개 균주의 배양액 산물에서 약 7%에 해당하 는 25개의 배양액이 항산화활성효과를 보였고, 약 20%(347균주 중 72 균주) 그리 고 6%(347균주 중 22 균주)에 해당하는 균주의 배양액이 R. solanacearum, E. coli 에 대한 항균활성을 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. 선발된 곰팡이 균주들의 배양액 산 물들은 각각의 세균방제 및 약학적 재료로써 이용될 수 있을 것으로 생각 된다.

미국흰불나방은 가로수에 커다란 피해를 주고 있는 해충으로, 우리나라에서는 연간 2회 발생한다. 우리나라 곤충바이러스 연구는 1974년 미국흰불나방 (Hyphantria cunea)에서 베큘로바이러스(baculovirus)를 분리하여 병원성이 높은 것을 확인하면서 해충 종합적 방제를 위해 연구가 시작되었다. 본 연구에서는 미국 흰불나방 자연 사충으로부터 과립병바이러스(granulovirus)를 분리하고 바이러스 의 특성을 이해하기 위해 게놈 분석을 시행하였다. 미국흰불나방 과립병바이러스 의 전체염기서열의 분석은 454 pyrosequencing 방법을 이용하였고, 크기는 114.556bp 로 판명되었다. 또한 G+C 함량은 전체염기서열의 39.30 %를 차지하였 고, 130개의 open reading frame (ORF)를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 130개의 ORF 중 106개의 ORF가 기존에 보고된 베큘로바이러스와 상동성을 갖는 것으로 확인되었 다. 기존에 전체염기서열이 분석된 다른 베큘로바이러스들과 계통분석을 수행한 결과, 과립병바이러스 중 씨자무늬거세미방나방 과립병바이러스와 근연관계를 갖는 것으로 확인되었다.

누에핵다각체병바이러스 (Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus, BmNPV)는 나 비목 곤충을 감염시키는 대표적인 핵다각체병바이러스 중 하나이다. 이 바이러스 는 1970년대 말 증식이 가능한 배양세포계가 확립되고 유전공학의 발달에 의해 분 자유전학적 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으나 국내에서는 유전자 분석에 대한 연구 가 미미한 실정이다. 그리하여 본 연구에서는 국내에서 분리된 BmNPV-K1, K4, K5 strain의 전체 염기서열을 분석하고 바이러스 간의 근연관계를 알아보았다. 그 결과, BmNPV-K1의 전체 염기서열은 126,747 bp로 이루어져 있었고 131개의 open reading frame (ORF)를 가지는 것으로 예측되었다. 반면, BmNPV-K4와 K5 는 각각 128,618 bp, 127,554 bp로 이루어졌고 134개, 133개의 ORF를 가지는 것으 로 예측되었다. 대부분의 ORF는 높은 상동성을 보였으나, 흥미롭게도 baculovirus repeated ORFs (bro) gene의 보유에 따라 전체 ORF의 수가 다르게 나타났다. 또한, 근연관계를 알아보기 위해 계통분석을 수행한 결과 가까운 근연관계를 보였으나, BmNPV-K1, K4, K5는 같은 지질학적 위치나 곤충 기주를 가지고 있는 바이러스 임에도 불구하고 다른 유전형을 가지는 것으로 확인되었다.
