This study examined lateral load behaviors of partially grout filled steel tube from structural analysis. To evaluate structural resistant behaviors of partially grout filled steel tube, Nonlinear FE analysis model of partially grout filled steel tube was considered using ABAQUS program. From FE analysis results, grout filling effect and thickness effect of steel tube on the lateral load behaviors were compared.

This study compared the experimental values obtained from existing papers and the analytical values obtained using nonlinear finite element analysis programs. The results show a similar aspect, with a yield load of 74.5 kN in the experiment and a yield load of 69.3kN in the analysis result showing a difference of about 6%.

When the SC structure is partially applied to a nuclear power plant building, an RC-SC connection part is generated between the SC wall and the RC slabs or RC walls. If the difference in flexural stiffness between the RC part and the RC-SC connection part is large, compressive failure of the concrete near the RC-SC connection part may occur. In this study, the flexural stiffness relaxation design such as the approach slab concept was applied and the fracture behavior was analyzed using finite element analysis. As a result, it was confirmed that concrete cracks near RC-SC connection part were reduced when flexural stiffness relaxation design is applied.

In the military and civil area a long-span temporary bridge for rapid construction is recently in demand. In this study the current state of technology and market is investigated as part of the planning research. The results show that the existing temporary bridges consist mainly of about 20m long span, and it takes 6 to 8 weeks to complete the construction. For an emergency restoration project in a short period a long-span temporary bridge for rapid construction requires the high-performance materials and the latest construction technology

This paper presents the application of meso-scale finite element analysis method on concrete tensile strength. Using the meso-scale finite element analysis, an analytical study on tensile strength of concrete was conducted. From the analysis results, the size effect on split and direct tensile strength was confirmed.

The second impact from the edge of cargo was found to be an crucial event causing large volume loss of concrete median barrier. Therefore, in order to improve local impact resistance of concrete median barrier during second impact, local model was developed and evaluations were conducted. Developed concrete median barrier showed the 125 kJ impact level based on conducted analysis.

Uplift phenomenon of container cranes occurred during the past earthquakes. Therefore, the evaluation of the potential uplift of the container cranes is an important task when the demand for trade is increasing. The objective of this study is to investigate the probability of the uplift occurrence of the container crane subjected to a wide range of earthquake intensity. The uplift results are then fitted to the log-normal cumulative distribution function (CDF).

This research presents one of new architectural SUPER concrete structural members which were designed with nonuniform curvilinear shapes. SUPER concrete had the compressive strength of 80MPa to 200MPa, the tensile strength of 8MPa to 20MPa, and had high ductile tensile strains. Nonuniform concrete formwork were invented and specimens were manufactured to verify by test.

The concrete vacuum tube structure, which must maintain air-tightness, is manufactured in the form of a segment, and it is necessary to install the joints at uniform gap in order to assemble in the field. In this study, member tests were carried out to investigate the air-tightness performance at the joints of the concrete vacuum tube structures.

This paper presents the design guidance of steel-plate concrete(SC) wall with the tie-bar component in the external and internal construction technology. AISC N690 Appendix N9 in U.S and KEPIC SNG (2010) in Korea are new design guidance for SC structure of nuclear power plant.

In this study, the shear strength according to the width of the web was assessed by using the Waste styrofoam as hollow material without reprocessing. The concrete's design strength was set to 24MPa and the web width was 50mm, 100mm, and 150mm as variables. Shear strengths of KCI increased from 111.2% to 203.9%.

In this study, the shear performance of the hollow slab was evaluated through experiments with the web width and volume fraction of steel fiber as variables. The lung pet bottles were used as a hollow materials. The results showed a performance difference of 19.4 to 52.3% depending on the web width, and a mixture of steel fibers showed a higher shear performance of 4.8 to 33.7%.

The demand for the performance of the pile as a basic reinforced structure is increasing due to the enlargement of the structure and the increase of the height. In this study, the reliability of the structural performance of the joints of the composite pile is predicted, as well as the ease of construction by minimizing the welding or bolt fastening, and excellent resistance to flexural load, The connector was considered.

This paper was conducted to evaluate structural performance of modular system connection with bracket. It was evaluated to two external connection specimens and two internal connection specimens. As a result of experiment, excessive shear deformation of the bracket was observed in all of the specimens. However, all of the specimens satisfied the requirement for intermediate moment frames (IMF) targeted in the experiment.

This paper present change and expectation effectiveness after reforming raw and revising guideline about seismic performance evaluation of buildings. After reforming raw, many high-rise and large spatial structure will be included as ‘duty subjection of seismic performance evaluation’. And the guideline will change performance objectives, seismic hazard and require nonlinear dynamic analysis, structural consideration about masonry etc. After this reformation and revision, it is expected that the duty subjection of seismic performance evaluation will be extended and the raw and guideline require more high-degree specialization.

Many of recent field observations and researches have been shown that axial force variation due to vertical ground motion can affect the shear capacityRC column . However, the majority of shear strength models of RC columns in current design codes and predictive approaches have been developed based on experiments with constant axial loads. Thus, this paper evaluates the experimental seismic performance of RC columns subjected to varying axial loads. The axial loading patterns included constant and variable loading considering the characteristic of overturning moment and vertical ground motion. The observations of experimental results, including the effect on shear strength, and ductility are discussed compared with the case of constant axial load.

This paper was conducted to investigate analytically the non-ductile reinforced concrete frame and steel frame. The results of cyclic loading test and analysis was compared. The maximum strength and strength reduction point of test result were similar to analysis result.

An experimental study was conducted to examine for the structural behavior of coupled steel plate shear wall (Coupled SPSW) system what is formed by connection the two steel plate shear walls (SPSW) with a coupling beam. The variable of this study was the length of coupling beam. The testing results were showed that the strength and stiffness of specimen with shorter coupling beam were improved than those of other specimen. However there is no difference of the yielding mechanism.

In this study, literature review on the method of reinforcing the special shear wall boundary element was carried out. As a reviewing results of two studies, it was evaluated that it is possible to reinforce the boundary element using rectangular steel pipe, H-shaped section steel and lattice material.
