        Damage potential has been investigated for a domestic metropolitan railway bridge subjected to 2016 Gyeongju earthquake which has been reported as the strongest earthquake in Korea. For this purpose, nonlinear static pushover analyses for the bridge piers have been carried out to evaluate ductility capacities. Then, the capacities have been compared with those suggested by Railway Design Standards of Korea. This comparison shows that all piers possess enough safety margins. Nonlinear dynamic time-history analysis has also been conducted to estimate both displacement and shear force demands for the bridge subjected to ground motions recorded at stations in near of Gyeongju. Maximum demands reveal that response under the ground motions remains essentially in elastic. In addition, for a further assessment of the bridge under the Gyeongju earthquake, fragility analyses have been performed using those ground motions. The fragility results indicate that the recorded earthquakes do not significantly affect the damage exceedance probability of the bridge piers.

        PURPOSES : The aim of this article is to compare and identify eco-friendly competitiveness between (regional) motorway and high-speed rail(HSR) from the perspective of CO2 emission in the Republic of Korea. METHODS : In order for an analysis of low-carbon competitiveness between the two modes, CO2e emission, CO2eppk (equivalent CO2 gram per passenger kilometer), is employed as a comparison index. As for HSR, the index is calculated based on the passenger transport data and the gross of CO2e produced by Kyungbu high-speed line in 2013. Additionally, the gross of CO2e is computed by the greenhouse gas emission factors of domestic electricity generation mix. Regarding the index of motorway, it is directly calculated using both the official CO2e emission factor and the passenger-car occupancy of motorway. RESULTS: The results revealed, in the case of inter-regional transport, that the CO2e emission of displacement-based cars is 54.9% less than that of HSR, as the domestic electric power systems heavily relies on the thermal power plants over 66%. Note that internal combustion engines commonly used for vehicles are more energy-efficient than steam-driven turbines usually utilized for thermal power generation. CONCLUSIONS: It can be seen, at the very least in our study, that HSR has no superiority over motorway in the case of CO2e emission under the situations of domestic electricity generation mix. In addition, advanced eco-friendly vehicles have strong advantages over HSR. Therefore, all-out efforts should be made to develop and harvest renewable energy sources in order to achieve low-carbon HSR, sparing fossil fuels.

        Railroad ballast materials tend to degrade due to the increase of ballast abrasion and fracture that results in decreasing the capability of shock absorption, interlocking friction, and the resistance to track irregularity. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a methodology to improve or maintain the structural condition of ballast materials which is in the middle of fouling. This study aimed to investigate the effect of reinforcement on the fouled ballast using ballast stabilizer. Field experimental program was conducted to compare the lateral ballast resistance in case of before and after application of ballast stabilizer. A series of laboratory repetitive load triaxial compression test was then performed to compare the accumulated plastic strain in case of before and after application of ballast stabilizer to the ballast materials having a different level of Fouling Index(FI). In the event of application of ballast stabilizer, the accumulated plastic strain decreased by 41.8 and 28.8 percent, respectively, when the FI was 14 and 21, which appears to indicate the ballast stabilizer is effective for the moderate level fouled ballast materials.

        In this paper, interior noise that is brought into inside of coach when it passes by straight line track, railway turnout section, curved track, and rail lubricator section with test coach was measured in accordance of track characteristic of urban railway vehicle. It was evaluated with 60km/h of constant speed in the motorized trailer, no.3 car T1 motorized trailer of urban railway vehicle. Interior noise characteristic value is higher in order of curve, rail lubricator, railway turnout, and straight track as a result of the test. The highest characteristic value is 86.7dB in the curved track. And, the lowest characteristics value is 75.5dB(A) in the straight track. For accurate result comparison, it is transformed into sound pressure distribution by time domain, sound pressure level by time domain, sound pressure level for frequency domain and completed analysis.

        슬라이딩 궤도는 콘크리트 궤도와 교량 바닥판 사이에 저마찰 슬라이드층을 두어 레일신축이음장치와 같은 특수 장치를 적용하지 않고도 궤도-교량 상호작용 효과를 효과적으로 저감시킬 수 있는 새로운 궤도 시스템으로 개발되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 장경간 교량에 슬라이딩 궤도와 레일신축이음장치를 각각 적용한 경우에 대하여 궤도-교량 상호작용해석을 수행하고 그 결과를 비교 검토하였다. 대상교량은 상호작용 효과를 극대화하기 위하여 9경간 연속 PSC교와 2경간 연속 강합성교를 포함하며, 총 연장 1,205m, 최대 고정지점간 거리 825m인 장경간 교량을 선정하였다. 해석결과 슬라이딩 궤도는 레일신축이음장치를 적용한 경우보다 레일 부가 축력이 더 작은 것은 물론, 지점부에 재하되는 수평 반력 또한 작게 나타나 궤도-교량 상호작용 저감 효과가 뛰어난 것으로 확인되었다. 반면 슬라이딩 궤도는 온도하중에 의해 높은 슬래브 축력이 발생되므로, 궤도 설계 시 슬래브 축력에 대한 단면 설계에 주의를 기울일 필요가 있다.

        Shenyang was one of the representative transportation hub of Northeast China during the modern period. The formation and development of the railway network gave great influence on Shenyang’s city development. In order to understand the relationship between railway and city development, first, we classified Shenyang’s city development period by the railway network’s formation and expansion process. Then, we analyzed the relationship between railway and city space by five categories. The results of this study are as follows. First, before railway was constructed, Shenyang was a castle city, which also was the economic center of Northeast China. This was the main reason Shenyang was chosen as a railway zone. During the modern period, the castle structure became an obstacle to city transportation and environment, therefore, it was disposed. During the period of railways’ expansion, South Manchuria, Jingfeng and Shenhai railway line was constructed in Shenyang. Since each line had different operation organizations, city sites along the railways were planned separately. However, these operation organizations had one common purpose, which was to use railway as an accelerator for economic development. During the period of railway’s military usage, railway was reorganized as military supply transport for the Japanese, which also was used as a tool for the expansion of colonialism. Second, after Shenyang’s city space was reconstructed along the railway, it created a close connection with city structure, city facilities, landscape and city transportation system. Hence, the railway system played a key role in modern city planning.

        Infrastructure such as tracks, catenary, rolling stock and signaling systems, and close interface with the human factors of train drivers, shunting staff and maintenance staff are required for train operations. Safety management is the most essential part for the functioning of a train. In line with the safety management, each rail operator has a safety guidance system and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport operates Railway Safety Inspector system. Safety Inspector System is to train employees working in the field to be aware of rules and regulations, and to improve identified risk factors. Hence, it is necessary to establish systematic training and inspection methods for safety guidance staff and make clear the roles and responsibilities of safety inspectors according to the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and safety instructors for several inspections according to the Railroad Safety Act.

        이 논문에서는 고속철도교량 설계를 위한 활하중 모델을 통계 및 확률적 방법으로 검토하고, 하중조합의 하중계수가 주는 안전율을 분석하였다. 이 연구는 철도교량 설계기준에 대한 한계상태설계법 개발의 일환이며, 이를 위하여 경부고속철도를 운행하는 열차를 대상으로 약 한달 동안 실측하여 데이터를 수집하고 분석하였다. 이 데이터를 대상으로 교량의 설계수명에 맞도록 4가지 통계 방법들을 적용하여 설계하중을 추정하여 비교․검토하였다. 또한, 철도교량의 설계하중조합이 주는 안전율을 검토하기 위하여 신뢰도지수를 구하고 이를 분석하였다. 실측 데이터로부터 추정한 활하중효과에 대하여, 현행 고속철도 설계활하중인 표준열차하중의 0.75배를 적용한 설계활하중 효과의 크기가 최소 30~22% 더 크게 나왔다. 신뢰도분석을 통하여, 극한한계상태만을 기준으로 본다면, 추가적인 하중계수 감소의 가능성이 있음을 알 수 있다.

        This paper reviews the one of problems that may occure for the tram operating in Korea, it's a free-riding problem, I analyzed the feasibility of combining the introduction of world-class technology solution "IT". It is under review the introduction of tram in Su-won city, Chang-won city, Wi-Rye new town. Free-riding is one of the biggest issues of any agency that operates the public transportation system. It has been acting as the main factors threatening the financial integrity of the operating agency, and the ratio of free-riding is further increased. In this paper, I want to build a foundation for the development of the system by analyzing the economic feasibility for the introduction of free-riding prevention system.

        도시철도 기관사는 일상적 교번근무의 제도적 틀에 따른 심리적, 신체적 피로와 긴 장감을 경험하는 한편, 사고 및 장애발생의 가능성을 늘 염려하면서 주어진 과업을 수 행해나가고 있다. 즉, 이들은 항상 이례상황의 발생가능성을 염려하면서 과도한 스트 레스를 느끼게 되는데, 이는 공포불안과 분노혐오라는 부정적 정서를 유발시키는 원인 이 된다. 이 같은 부정적 정서는 기관사의 일과 삶의 균형에 상당한 손상을 주는 요인 이 된다. 본 연구는 도시철도 기관사의 이례상황 스트레스가 기관사의 정서와 일과 삶의 균 형에 미치는 부정적 영향을 살펴보고 이 같은 일련의 관계에서 기관사의 이례상황 스 트레스를 완화하고 일과 삶의 균형을 제고할 수 있는 제도적 방안이 무엇인지를 살펴 보는데 주된 목적을 두었다.

        Recently, the Korean government has been making efforts to achieve ‘creative economy’ based on science and technology. As part of these efforts, it has been promoted specific policies for innovation and performance enhancement of national R&D projects. They contains commercialization of research outcomes, technology transfer, technology based startup and support small and medium-sized businesses. The railroad transportation industry is a representative in the field of SOC and has own characteristics different from other industry areas. Especially, industry and market of railroad transportation are directly related to planning and implementation of government SOC policies. So in order to promoting commercialization of railroad transportation projects, it is very important to ensure consistency between government policies and R&D projects. In this paper, we investigate barriers of successful commercialization with typical researchers in the area of railroad transportation, and suggest problems and improvements of policy-based commercialization by giving specific examples.

        This study intended to investigate exploratorily the precedent factors affecting two types of perceived balances between work and life(family/leisure) and the antecedent ones affected by them, focusing on the metro train drivers. To attain this purpose, literature survey on the precedent factors, work-life balance, and antecedent factors was performed, and the study model was designed based on this survey, and then this model was analyzed empirically using Multiple-Regression. The results on the precedent factors showed that Job Demand, Self-Efficacy, and Age have significant effects on the negative transfer of work. On the other hand, it was shown that Affiliative Culture, Self-Efficacy, and Internal Locus of Control have significant effects on the family centered balance. And the results on the antecedent factors showed that family centered balance has significant effects on Job Satisfaction, Psychological Depression and Fatigue, Safety Behavior, and accident, and the negative transfer of work has significant effects on Physical and Psychological Depression and Fatigue, Emergency Stress, and Safety Behavior.

        This study highlights empirically the relationship among major constructs such as accident, fear and anxiety emotion, self-efficacy, and negative spillover of work, focused on the railway drivers. The differentiated factor of this study is in that the experience of accident was posed as exogenous variable. The main statistical tool was Regression. Hypothesis tests based on 201 samples verified that the experience of accidents showed a significant effect on negative spillover of work mediated by fear and anxiety, with moderating effect of self-efficacy between fear and anxiety and negative spillover of work. However, the moderating effect was shown as increasing the degree of negative spillover of work, since the drivers recognized their fear and anxiety accrued by accident experience as uncontrollable. This findings suggest the need for mitigating driver's negative emotion - fear and anxiety - through an introduction of practice such as exemption of settlement obligation in accident site and lowering of the penalty for accident responsibility.

        This Paper deals with the measurement and analysis of the brake squeal noise, the wheel’s and block brake’s vibration. The squeal noise, a kind of self-excited vibration, is generated by the friction between the rim of the revolving wheel and the block brake. Block brake cause friction noise and excessive braking noise makes passengers and operators uncomfortable. The goal of this paper is to investigate experimental the relation between brake squeal noise and behavior of block brake with railway wheel. Experimental results with MA and RMA show that behavior of railway vehicle block brakes is related with brake squeal noise.

        The safety culture of an organization is the product of individual and group values, attitudes, perceptions, competencies, and patterns of behavior that determine the commitment, the style and proficiency, and an organization’s health and safety management. A good safety culture includes effective, appropriate safety management systems; strong safety leadership & commitment from management; participation and involvement of the workforce; and organizational learning and continuous improvement. This paper will introduce the safety culture inspection standards and process in Korea Railway. The main purpose is to get a better understanding of safety culture and to develop measuring tool. First of all we developed the composition factor of safety culture and the question set. And we prepared the base of computerization of safety culture measurement by developing of evaluation standards and weighted value.
