        Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a substantial contributor to morbidity and mortality. In search of a natural products capable of inhibiting this multidrug resistant bacteria, we have investigated the antimicrobial activity of brazilein (BRZ) isolated from Caesalpinia sappan L. (Leguminosae) against 8 different strains of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). New antimicrobial activity was found using the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs), broth dilution as well as checkerboard method. Against the 8 strains, the minimum inhibitory concentrations of BRZ were in the range of 62.5-500μg/mL. From those results we performed the checkerboard test to determine the synergism of BRZ in combination with Hygromycin-b (HgB) against 4 strains. The combined activity of BRZ and HgB against 4 strains resulted in a fractional inhibitory concentrations index (FICI) ranging from 0.18-0.5. The effect of BRZ with HgB was found to be synergistic. We found that BRZ reduced the MICs of HgB. BRZ and HgB could lead to the development of new combination antibiotics against MRSA infection.

        This study was designed to maximize extract yields of functional components in Angelica gigas Nakai by extrusion process. In addition, the optimizing condition of the extrusion process was established to increase the extraction of the functional components in A. gigas. The total polyphenol was increased by 40% compared to a control. And the optimizing condition was that the screw speed was 62.76 rpm, the amount of A. gigas powder was 34.79 kg/h, and the amount of water was 4.44 kg/h. The result of antioxidant activities of A. gigas extrusion, the inhibition of oxidization had the effect of 10.29 ~ 14.59% compared to a control. The content of decursin and decursinol angelate, which were index components, was 6.37%; it was increased by 16.64% compared to a control (5.31%) and showed a significantly difference (p < 0.05). And the optimizing condition was the screw speed 93.71 rpm, the amount of A. gigas powder was 28.67 kg/h, and the amount of water was 9.9 kg/h.

        This Research examines the extent of damage on the waterproofing layer in the first floor underground parking lot affected by fire through various waterproofing quality testing. According to the result of the research, although the first floor surface of the substrate layer was damaged due to high temperature of the fire, the waterproofing layer applied in the substrate was not damaged to the point that its waterproofing performance would be affected.

        In this study, by blocking the hot warm air inside the sun and is discharged to the outside by checking whether the insulating performance of the insulation and waterproof coating friendly environment using nano-ceramic, and economy through the energy savings it is intended to present a scheme which can minimize environmental pollution and the loss (global warming).
