Occurrence of Japanese gall-forming thrips, Ponticulothrips diospyrosi was surveyed from 143 orchards at 11 cities or counties in 6 provinces, Korea from 2008 to 2009. Occurrence of P. diospyrosi was not observed from Jeju (4 persimmon orchards) in Jeju-do and Wanju (12 persimmon orchards) in Jeollabuk-do. However, P. diospyrosi occurred newly in the orchards in Sanchung, Gyeongsangnam-do and in Gangreung, Gangwon-do. Rate of damaged orchards by P. diospyrosi in Gumi, Mungyeong, Sangju and Euseong in Gyeongsangbuk-do (73.3%) was higher than that of in Gyeongsangnam-do or Youngdong areas in Chungcheongbuk-do. A maximum rate of damaged trees by P. diospyrosi was 23.5% in Gumi, while the damage was lower in Sancheong and Jinju representing 0.2 and 1.6%, respectively. Rate of damaged leaves by P. diospyrosi was the highest in Sangju (0.12%). P. diospyrosi occurred between N35°07′50″ and 35°51′24″ and between E127°38′36″ to 128°53′02″. Persimmon orchards close to mountain were more damaged by P. diospyrosi. Edge parts of persimmon orchards were more damaged by P. diospyrosi than inner parts, especially in orchards close to mountain. Also, the middle and lower parts of tree canopy were more damaged by P. diospyrosi than the upper parts of canopy.

This study has been carried out to investigate the non-isothermal behaviors and kinetic parameter of calcium carbonate by different thermal analysis methods. At the heating rate of /min, the onset calcination temperature, the peak and final temperatures of calcium carbonate were , , and respectively. As the heating rate of the calcium carbonate increased from /min to /min, the peak temperature increased from to . The activation energies of the calcium carbonate calculated by the methods of Kissinger and Freeman-Carroll were 40.15 kcal/mol and 43.47 kcal/mol, respectively.

In this study, the concentrations of various hydrocarbon (HC) were measured from the ambient air at Mallipo beach after the Hebei Spirit oil spill accident on Dec. 2007. To determine HC levels in those samples, the analysis was made by SPME method aided by the GC/MS system. To produce quantitative HC data, all the calibrations were conducted in reference to toluene. The HC released from oil-covered soils were also analyzed by headspace method; according to this analysis, the concentrations of paraffinic (9), aromatic (8) and miscellaneous components (5 compounds) were found above a few tens of ppb. In ambient samples, 10 compounds were measured which consisted of 8 paraffinics and 2 aromatics. And they have the maximum and minimum concentration that were 34.3 ppb (n-undecane) and 2.84 ppb (toluene). However, the concentration levels of the 2 aromatic compounds (toluene and xylene) measured during this study period were not distinguished from those commonly observed from ambient air. Based on our analysis, we were able to confirm that the types and the concentration levels of hydrocarbons in ambient samples were in accord with those derivable from a large oil spill accident and the resulting weathering processes.

본 연구에서는 저경도 고감쇠 고무받침 시험체의 다양한 특성실험을 통하여 저경도 고감쇠 고무받침의 특성을 파악하였다. 고무받침의 파악하고자 하는 특성은 압축강성, 전단강성, 등가감쇠비, 전단특성의 변형율 의존성, 전단특성의 면압 의존성, 전단특성의 주파수 의존성, 전단특성의 온도 의존성, 극한전단특성 등이다. 특성실험은 ISO 22762-1에 따라 수행하였으며, ISO 2276-3에 따라 평가하였다. 특성실험결과 전단강성은 전단변형율과 온도 의존성이 큰 것으로 나타났고, 등가감쇠비는 면압 의존성이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 전단특성의 주파수 의존성 실험결과 0.1Hz를 기준으로 경향이 나뉘는 것으로 나타났다. 0.1Hz 이상에서는 전단특성의 변화가 적었지만, 0.1Hz 이하에서는 전단강성과 등가감쇠비 모두 급격히 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 추가적으로 크리프실험과 극한전단특성실험을 수행하였고, 실험결과는 ISO 22762-3의 요구사항을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다.

The corrosion and degradation factors of a current collector in a molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) were investigated to determine the optimized coating thickness of nickel on STS316L. The results show that the surface morphology and electrical properties depended on the nickel coating thickness. The surface morphology gradually changed from a flat to a porous structure along as the nickel coating thickness decreased, and the electrical resistance of the nickel-coated STS316L increased as the nickel coating thickness decreased. This can be attributed to the diffusion of elements of Fe and Cr from the substrate through the nickel grain boundaries. Additionally, carburization in the metal grains or grain boundaries in an anodic environment was found to influence the electrical properties due to matrix distortion. The resistance of Cr-oxide layers formed in an anodic environment causes a drop in the potential, resulting in a decrease in the system efficiency.

본 연구에서는 40% 농도의 산소 공급이 난이도에 따른 덧셈과제 수행 능력, 혈중 산소 포화도, 심박동율의 변화에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 관찰하였다. 10명의 남자와 10명의 여자 대학생이 두 가지 농도의 산소 (21%, 40%)를 흡입하면서 세 가지 난이도의 덧셈연산을 수행하였다. Rest1 (3분), Task1 (1분, 한 자리 수 덧셈), Task2 (1분, 두 자리 수 덧셈), Task3 (1분, 세 자리 수 덧셈), Rest2 (4분)의 순서로 실험이 진행되었고, 모든 구간에서 혈중 산소 포화도와 심박동율이 측정되었다. 21%에 비해 40% 농도의 산소를 공급했을 때 평균 정답률이 증가하였고, 난이도가 증가할수록 정답율의 차이가 더컸다. 21%에 비해 40%의 산소가 주어질 때 모든 구간에서 혈중 산소 포화도는 증가하였고, 심박동율은 감소하였다. 결론적으로 고농도 산소 공급이 혈중 산소 포화도를 증가시켜 인지 처리에 따른 뇌 활성화를 촉진시킬 수 있고 이로 인해 연산 수행 능력이 증가되었다는 사실을 도출 할 수 있다. 특히 난이도가 증가할수록, 즉 인지 처리의 요구가 커질수록 고농도 산소의 효과가 더 명확히 나타난다는 사실을 도출할 수 있다.

도시화에 따른 도서지방의 생태계 변화를 규명하기 위한 기초 자료를 확보하기 위하여 전남 신안군 압해도 일대에 서식 분포하고 있는 나비목 곤충을 대상으로 2006년 3월부터 9월까지 13회 나방을 채집 확인하였다. 본 조사 결과 동정, 확인된 나비목 곤충은 총 16과 241속 339종이었다. 채집된 종중 밤나방과가 129종으로 가장 많았고, 다음으로 자나방과(81종), 명나방과(38종) 순이었으며, 개체수로는 자나방과, 밤나방과, 명나방과, 갈고리나방과의

This article investigated to polymer-clay nanocomposite, especially in interfacial respect clay structure, its dispersion into polymer matrix, and clay modification is studied. The cationic exchange of surfactants with clay gallery results in preparing organo-clay capable of compatiblizing to monomer or polymer and increasing interlayer adhesion energy due to expansion of interlayer spacing. The orientation of surfactant in clay gallery is affected by chemical structure and charge density of clay, and interlayer spacing and volume is increased with alkyl chain length of surfactant, or charge density of clay. Also, the interaction between clay and polymer in preparing polymer-clay nanocomposite is explained thermodynamically. In the future, the study and development of polymer-clay nanocomposite is paid attention to the interfacial adhesion, clay dispersion within polymer, mechanism of clay intercalation or exfoliation.

Cyclooxygenase(COX)-2 is an enzyme engaged in the synthesis of prostaglandin(PG) and is upregulated by inflammation. It is related with the expression of the vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in the angiogenesis of granulation tissue. By using immunohistochemical stains, the expressions for COX-2 and VEGF were evaluated according to the degree of inflammation and the type of lesion, and the correlation between the expressions were investigated in the 39 periapical lesions (7 periapical granulomas, 7 periapical granulomas with epithelium, 25 periapical cysts) and 13 dentigerous cysts. The expression rate of COX-2 in histiocytes of periapical lesions(97.4%) was significantly higher than that of dentigerous cysts(69.2%)(p=0.0032). The expression rate of VEGF was highest in plasma cells in the periapical lesions(69.4%) and in dentigerous cysts(69.2%). COX-2 expression rate in endothelium and VEGF expression rate in epithelium were significantly higher in the periapical cysts than in the periapical granuloma and. VEGF expression rate in endothelium of the periapical lesions was increased in cases with resolving inflammation. For the periapical lesions, epithelial expression of COX-2 and VEGF showed a positive relationship(p=0.0301), and endothelial COX-2 expression revealed positive relationship with VEGF expressions in epithelium(p=0.0008), in histiocytes(p=0.0136), and in endothelium(p=0.0439). According to these findings, as the periapical lesion progressed from granuloma to cyst, the expressions of COX-2 and VEGF were increased. COX-2 expression was significantly correlated with VEGF expression, which suggests that COX-2 seems to be involved in the progression of periapical lesion by inducing the expression of VEGF.

Recently, growth of internet causes rapid changes in many areas of statistics such as statistical computation and analysis. Especially, bootstrap is the most interesting statistical methods applying computer resampling simulation. In this paper, we try to present how to use a method of bootstrap on the internet. We also develop to user a statistical system which is programed with ASP for user to handle easily in manufacturing system.

A high performance computing cluster for astronomical computations has been built at Korea Astronomy Observatory. The 64 node cluster interconnected with Gigabit Ethernet is composed of 128 Intel Xeon processors, 160 GB memory, 6 TB global storage space, and an LTO (Linear Tape-Open) tape library. The cluster was installed and has been managed with the Open Source Cluster Application Resource (OSCAR) framework. Its performance for parallel computations was measured with a three-dimensional hydrodynamic code and showed quite a good scalability as the number of computational cells increases. The cluster has already been utilized for several computational research projects, some of which resulted in a few publications, even though its full operation time is less than one year. As a major resource of the K∗Grid testbed, the cluster has been used for Grid computations, too.

The preparation of CaSO4 nanoparticle by vesicles formed spontaneously in cationic OTAC and anionic ADS mixed surfactant solution whose ratio is 0.3/0.7 is investigated. Added electrolytes for preparing nanoparticles reduce vesicle size about 200-300 nm comparing with that of pure vesicle whose size is 700-800 nm by DLS. The core of vesicles has 200 nm size and acts as nanoreactors which same size of monodisperse CaSO4 nanopaticles are formed. Although CaSO4 particles are formed at the outer of vesicles, they are very large and amorphous. The formed particles are identified with XRD analysis after separation due to coinciding with CaSO4 particles.
