        This study compared the climatic conditions and fruit quality of the ‘Shiranuhi’ mandarin. This variety is expanding to inland areas due to climate change and global warming. The main producing area of ‘Shiranuhi’ mandarin is Jeju Island. In the inland areas where ‘Shiranuhi’ mandarin is grown, the average temperature is 12.9-13.9℃, which is 3-4℃ lower than the temperature in Seogwipo (16.9℃) on Jeju Island. In these inland areas, there are frequent critical minimum temperatures (below –3℃) in January or February, making the open field temperatures unsuitable for growing ‘Shiranuhi’ mandarins. However, farmers in these areas have managed to mitigate this risk by maintaining an average temperature of 18.3℃ inside plastic houses, which are actively heated from December to March. The earliest full bloom of ‘Shiranuhi’ was recorded in Jindo, Jeollanam-do on April 10. The earliest harvest date was observed in Seogwipo, Jeju on January 9, which indicates the shortest maturity period of 272 days. The cumulative temperature inside the greenhouse was highest in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do at 5,755℃. Buan, Jeollabuk-do (5,517℃) and Seogwipo, Jeju (5,518℃) had nearly identical temperatures. Significant differences in fruit quality were observed between the inland areas and Jeju Island. These differences were observed in fruit length, summit length, firmness, and the CIE b* value of the peel. The climate differences seem to have a greater influence on the factors that determine the fruit shape among the fruit quality characteristics. The yield per tree was higher in Seogwipo, Jeju (38.3kg) compared to the inland areas (30 to 34kg). Inland areas predominantly featured medium to small fruits (251-300g), while Jeju Island had a higher proportion of larger fruits (over 350g).

        This research investigated the effects of the plant growth regulators (PGRs) on fruit characteristics and storability of ‘Shine Muscat’ grapes. The objective was to identify effective PGR treatment methods for high-quality production and efficient storage. The characteristics of ‘Shine Muscat’ fruits were more affected by the secondary treatment applied 14 days after full bloom than by the primary treatment applied at full bloom. The fruits treated with thidiazuron (TDZ) in the secondary treatment showed higher weight. However, the forchlorfenuron (CPPU) treated fruits exhibited lower acidity and higher soluble solids content, which led to a higher sugar-to-acid ratio. Additionally, it had higher firmness, contributing to a good texture and a brighter yellow-green skin color, thus indicating better quality. The storage period for ‘Shine Muscat’ varies depending on the storage method: up to 60 days in cold storage and up to 110 days in Controlled Atmosphere (CA) storage. Like other kinds of fruits, CA storage was more effective for long-term storage. Furthermore, considering that the quality characteristics manifested during the prestorage PGR treatment were maintained during CA storage, secondary treatment with CPPU was deemed effective for optimal quality and storage.

        In this study, the expression of genes related to fruit ripening was investigated using realtime PCR. The study aimed to determine the effective conditions of calcium compounds (Calcium citrate, calcium chloride, calcium nitrate, GH-Ca, OS-Ca) and chitosan treatment to extend the shelf-life in the ‘Kumhong’ nectarine and ‘Madoka’ peach fruits. In this study, in the ‘Kumhong’ and ‘Madoka’ fruits, the expression of genes related to cell wall degradation, pectin lyase (PL), polygalacturonase (PG), and pectin methylesterase (PME), was inhibited by calcium, chitosan, or a mixture (Chitosan+CaCl2) treatment. In ‘Madoka’ peach, although the expression of the PG gene was suppressed at pre-harvest Ca and chitosan treatment, the expression of the PL gene was induced at pre- and post-harvest Ca and chitosan treatment compared to the control. The spray of calcium, chitosan itself, or a mixture (Chitosan+ CaCl2) on the trees at the ripening stage and harvested fruits can extend the shelf-life by suppressing the expression of cell wall degrading enzymes genes (PL, PG, PME) in ‘Kumhong’ nectarine and ‘Madoka’ peach tree. These results provide valuable information for the development of technology for the extension of the shelf-life of peach and nectarine fruits.

        This study was carried out to verify the effect of increasing the ambient temperature around apple trees by directly blowing warm-air under the slender spindle apple training system using an agricultural warm-air blower and ducts used in plastic house cultivation to develop late frost damage reduction technology during the blooming season. The temperature increase effect around apple trees owing to the operating warm-air blowing ducts was most evident at a height of 30 cm from the ground surface. At this height, the branch ducts made of Oxford fabric and Solartex showed a raised ambient temperature of about 2.6oC and 1.1oC, respectively. However, the temperature rising effect at a height of 130 cm and 230 cm from the ground surface owing to the operating warm-air blowing ducts was not distinct compared to that in the control. The effect of raising ambient temperature around apple trees through the operation of warm-air blowing ducts was found to be greater as the ambient temperature did not severely drop below the freezing temperature. Damage to the central flower in the apple inflorescence at the pink stage was significantly reduced in the warm-air blowing ducts made of Oxford fabric (42.8%) compared to that in the control (73.2%). However, the damage to other flowers except the central one was not significant compared to that in the control. The fruiting rate of the central and other flowers in the apple inflorescence depending on the operating warm-air blowing ducts was significantly increased compared to that in the control. The fruiting rates of central and other flowers depending on the ducts materials, such as Oxford fabric, and Solartex, and that of the control were 38.3%/82.7%, 31.4%/82.7%, and 0.5%/61.1%, respectively. In conclusion, in the case of open-field apple orchards, if the warm-air blowing duct is installed close to the laterals where frost damage mainly occurs in the slender- spindle dense cultivation system, the damage caused by late frost in the vicinity of blooming time can be reduced to some extent.

        This study investigated the changes in fruit quality characteristics and how they correlated with the storage conditions and storage period. The firmness of peaches stored in cold storage decreased rapidly after 14 days (13.0 N), but the firmness of peaches stored in CA storage remained high for 28 days (20.9 N). The titratable acidity of peaches stored in cold storage decreased rapidly from 0.23 to 0.26% after 21 days, but there was no change until 7 days for peaches stored in CA storage, and then it decreased to 0.23% after 28 days. The soluble solid content increased significantly as the storage period elapsed under cold storage, but there was no notable difference for CA storage. After 28 days of storage, the weight loss rate of peaches stored in CA storage(8%) was lower than peaches stored in cold storage( 23%). The was significant background color for peaches stored in cold storage after 7 days, and changed to a completely different color after 28 days of storage. As for the correlation between the quality characteristics of peach fruits stored at low temperatures, weight loss rate, sunny side ΔE value, background color lightness, background color redness, and ΔE value showed high correlations, and CA storage showed high correlations with weight loss rate and coloration. In conclusion, according to our study results, 'Kunika' peaches can be stored for 14 days in low-temperature storage and up to 28 days in CA storage, and it is thought that the weight loss rate, firmness, and coloration during storage can be used as factors for quality prediction.

        To predict the quality of Fuji apples, this study investigated the characteristics and correlations of their fruit quality according to storage method and storage period. Fuji apples were stored in cold storage at 0oC for 250 days with no treatment, with 1-MCP treatment, and under controlled atmosphere (CA) storage. According to the storage method, the weight loss was the lowest in the CA-treated group (3.43%) until 250 days, and the change in fruit firmness was the least in the 1-MCP group. The titratable acidity remained above 0.2% for 1-MCP and CA storage until 250 days and decreased to 0.1% for cold storage. The principal component analysis showed a difference in quality between the 1-MCP group, CA group, and cold storage group after 200 days of storage. Six types of volatile components were commonly detected in all storage methods, while three types of independent components with a low threshold were detected in 1-MCP. Weight loss, titrable acidity, and firmness were highly correlated with physicochemical quality, and CA storage was judged to be a long-term storage technology that satisfies consumers’ tastes by maintaining excellent flavor and quality.

        The Bayesian algorithm model is a model algorithm that calculates probabilities based on input data and is mainly used for complex disasters, water quality management, the ecological structure between living things or living-non-living factors. In this study, we analyzed the main factors affected Korean Estuary Trophic Diatom Index (KETDI) change based on the Bayesian network analysis using the diatom community and physicochemical factors in the domestic estuarine aquatic ecosystem. For Bayesian analysis, estuarine diatom habitat data and estuarine aquatic diatom health (2008~2019) data were used. Data were classified into habitat, physical, chemical, and biological factors. Each data was input to the Bayesian network model (GeNIE model) and performed estuary aquatic network analysis along with the nationwide and each coast. From 2008 to 2019, a total of 625 taxa of diatoms were identified, consisting of 2 orders, 5 suborders, 18 families, 141 genera, 595 species, 29 varieties, and 1 species. Nitzschia inconspicua had the highest cumulative cell density, followed by Nitzschia palea, Pseudostaurosira elliptica and Achnanthidium minutissimum. As a result of analyzing the ecological network of diatom health assessment in the estuary ecosystem using the Bayesian network model, the biological factor was the most sensitive factor influencing the health assessment score was. In contrast, the habitat and physicochemical factors had relatively low sensitivity. The most sensitive taxa of diatoms to the assessment of estuarine aquatic health were Nitzschia inconspicua, N. fonticola, Achnanthes convergens, and Pseudostaurosira elliptica. In addition, the ratio of industrial area and cattle shed near the habitat was sensitively linked to the health assessment. The major taxa sensitive to diatom health evaluation differed according to coast. Bayesian network analysis was useful to identify major variables including diatom taxa affecting aquatic health even in complex ecological structures such as estuary ecosystems. In addition, it is possible to identify the restoration target accurately when restoring the consequently damaged estuary aquatic ecosystem.

        The annual consumption of kiwifruit in Korea is about 50,000 tons, and the gold-fleshed cultivar has increased to about 30% among cultivated ones, but the green-fleshed kiwifruit is still the most at about 60%. The green-fleshed kiwifruit, which was introduced in the late 1970s, is relatively sour and tasteless for consumers compared to the gold-fleshed one. This acts as an obstacle to the increase in domestic kiwifruit consumption. Therefore, to promote kiwifruit consumption by breeding green-fleshed kiwifruits that are not sour and are delicious. ‘Garmrok’, bred in 2013, is a green-fleshed variety that was officially registered as No. 6038 according to the Plant Variety Protection Act by the Commissioner of the Korea Seed and Variety Service in 2016, and it is being distributed through contracts with the Rural Development Administration (RDA). Field crossing was conducted in 2003 at the Namhae branch of the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science, and the maternal parent was germplasm collection IT233199 (Actinidia deliciosa) introduced in China, and the paternal parent was germplasm collection IT233198 (A. deliciosa) also introduced in China. The 2003-3-152 line with high soluble solid content (SSC) and good taste was first selected in 2009, and it was finally selected in 2013 by a detailed characteristic observation and evaluation through trunk-graft proliferation. It is a variety with less sour taste and higher sweetness compared to the existing dominant green-fleshed cultivar ‘Hayward’. It weighs 80 to 120 g, has a SSC of 14 to 18 °Brix, and has a low acid content of 0.3 to 0.7%. The full blooming is May 15-20, and the harvest season is 160-170 days after anthesis, which is expected to relieve the risk of frost damage during the harvest season.

        과수재배에 있어 기상조건은 수량과 품질에 직간접적으로 영향을 미치는 중요한 인자이다. 과거와 달리 요즘 3~4월 최저기온 변동의 폭이 넓어 꽃이 일찍 피는 과종에서는 화기의 동해로 인한 착과불량 피해가 자주 발생하고 있다. 또한 여름 철 폭염도 빈번히 발생하고 있으며, 올해처럼 구름 끼고 비가 잦은 경우 과실 생장과 품질에 부정적인 영향을 미칠 확률이 매우 높다. 본 연구는 2015년부터 2017년까지 3년간 키위 재배지 2곳에서 4월부터 10월까지 발아 후 생육기 동안 온도변 화와 광합성유효광선(PAR)을 조사하였다. 또한 과실특성을 조사하여 연차간 기상조건의 차이가 과실품질에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 2016년, 2017년은 2015년에 비해 6월~9월 평균 기온이 약 1~2oC 높았으며, 특히 7~8월은 2oC 가량 높은 폭염현상을 나타냈다. 광합성유효광선(PAR) 조사량을 측정한 결과, 노지재배인 사천지역은 4월에서 8월까지는 2015~2017년 모두 평균 300 μmol PAR m-2 s-1 이상을 나타냈으나 2015년을 제외한 2016년, 2017년 9~10월에는 300 μmol PAR m-2 s-1 미만을 나타냈다. 비가림 재배인 보성은 생육기 전반에 걸쳐 300 μmol PAR m-2 s-1 구간이였으며, 특히 9~10월은 2015~ 2017년 모두 300 μmol PAR m-2 s-1 미만을 나타냈다. 농촌진흥 청에서 육성된 신품종 ‘감록(Garmrok)’, ‘골드원(Goldone)’ 품종을 두 지역에서 재배, 수확한 결과 상대적으로 광합성유효 광선(PAR)량이 부족했던 보성에서 생산된 과실의 품질이 낮았다.

        아시아 주요국으로 ‘Shine Muscat’ 포도를 수출하기 위하여 수출대상국의 농약잔류허용기준(MRL)에 적합하며 안정적이고 우수한 품질의 포도를 생산할 수 있는 포도 병해 방제력을 개발하고자 하였다. 경북 경산과 상주 지역의 간이비가림시설에서 재배되는 ‘Shine Muscat’ 포장에서 수출 대상국에서 허용 된 약제 중에서 포도 재배에 많이 사용되는 살균제를 선발하였고, 재배 기간 동안의 병해 발생을 방제하기 위하여 개화전부터 성숙기까지 10-11회 살포하였다. 2년에 걸쳐 약제를 살포하고 수확 전 병해 발생 여부를 조사하고 수확 후에는 과실의 품질 특성과 잔류 농약을 분석하였다. 갈색무늬병, 노균병, 탄저병이 발생하였으며, 2019년 2번 처리구에서 전체적으로 82% 이상의 방제가를 나타내었다. 과실 품질 특성은 지역별로 약간의 차이를 나타냈고 모든 처리구에서 농약 잔류량은 0.00-0.20 mg/kg 수준으로 주요 수출국의 MRL 이하로 검출되었다. 본 연구에서는 최근 수출량이 증가하는 ‘Shine Muscat’ 포도 재배에 활용할 수 있으며 안전한 수출용 포도를 생산할 수 있는 병해 방제력을 개발하였으며, 국내의 포도 수출 농가에 도움이 될 것으로 생각된다.

        This study was conducted to provide a basis for raising farm income by increasing the yield and extending the cultivation period by creating an environment where crops can be cultivated normally during high temperatures in summer. The maximum cooling load of the multi-span greenhouse with a floor area of 504 m2 was found to be 462,609 W, and keeping the greenhouse under 32°C without shading the greenhouse at a high temperature, it was necessary to fog spray 471.6 L of water per hour. The automatic fog cooling control device was developed to effectively control the fog device, the flow fan, and the light blocking device constituting the fog cooling system. The fog cooling system showed that the temperature of the greenhouse could be lowered by 6°C than the outside temperature. The relative humidity of the fog-cooled greenhouse was 40-80% during the day, about 20% higher than that of the control greenhouse, and this increase in relative humidity contributed to the growth of cucumbers. The relative humidity of the fog cooling greenhouse during the day was 40-80%, which was about 20% higher than that of the control greenhouse, and this increase in relative humidity contributed to the growth of cucumbers. The yield of cucumbers in the fog-cooled greenhouse was 1.8 times higher in the single-span greenhouse and two times higher in the multi-span greenhouse compared to the control greenhouse.

        This study investigated the anti-inflammatory effects of processed (Beopje) curly dock (Rumex crispus L.) in LPS (lipopolysaccharide)-stimulated murine RAW 264.7 cells. The experimental group was classified into five groups : LPS no treatment, CD (curly dock), CD-B (CD processed through Beopje), LPS, LPS+CD-B (LPS+CD processed through Beopje) and LPS+CD (LPS+CD). Treatment of the Raw 264.7 cell lines using LPS led to a significant increase in NO production, pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β), and inflammation related genes (COX-2 and iNOS). Investigation of the inhibitory effects of CD and processed CD on NO production and expression of iNOS and COX-2 was done in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells. There was significant inhibition of NO production by LPS+CD and LPS+CD-B in a dose-dependent manner (p<0.05). Particularly, LPS+CD-B exhibited reduced mRNA expression of iNOS and COX-2 and NO production as compared to LPS+CD in Raw 264.7 cell lines (p<0.05). These results may explain some known biological activities of curly dock including the anti-inflammatory effects. CD-B in particular exhibited the highest anti-inflammatory effects of inhibiting production of NO, through the regulation of inflammatory related genes and pro-inflammatory cytokines. These results of Beopje processing might help decrease the anti-biological effects and increase several active substances of curly dock

        대추 탄저병 방제에 적합한 친환경 천연물소재를 선발하기 위하여, 약용식물에서 천연물을 추출하였고, 이를 이용하여 탄저병균에 대한 항균활성과 병 발생에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 기내 항균활성 검정에서 개똥쑥 지상부 추출물과 복숭아 나무 수지 추출물 처리는 각각 15 mm와 17.7 mm의 균사생장 억제존을 나타내 강한 항균활성을 보였으며, 처리 후 96시간이 경과하여도 항균활성을 유지하였다. 추출물의 실내접종 검 정에서 개똥쑥 지상부, 맨드라미 꽃과 잎, 복숭아나무 수지, 질경이 꽃 추출물은 잎 탄저병 방제에 효과적이었다. 과실에서는 개똥쑥 지상부 추출물은 58.3%, 맨드라미 꽃 추출물은 64.2%, 맨드라미 잎 처리는 66.7%의 병발생 억제효과를 보였고, 복숭아나무 수지와 질경이 꽃 추출물 처리에서는 60.1%의 병발생 억제율을 보여, 약용식물 추출물이 대추 탄저병을 효과적으로 억제하였고, 유과기 과실이 변색기에 비하여 병 발생 억제율이 높게 나타났다. 공시 추출물의포트 검정에서, 상처접종과 무상처접종에서 탄저병 발생 억제율이 높게 나타났다. 따라서 공시 약용식물 추출물은 대추나무 탄저병 친환경 방제를 위한 약제 개발에 활용될 수 있을 것이라 사료된다.

        본 연구에서는 장미 재배온실을 대상으로 온실 내부의 태양잉여열과 외부의 공기열을 선택적 열원으로 이용하여 온실난방용 온수를 생산할 수 있는 공기 대물 히트 펌프의 설계와 성능시험을 수행하였다. 태양잉여열 이용 축열운전과 외기열 이용 축열운전은 작물의 생육적온을 고려한 온실내부의 설정온도에 따라 자동전환 되도록 설계하였다. 제어반에 12개의 기준온도를 설정함으로써 축열운전 전환, 난방, 환기를 자동제어하며, 태양잉여열-외 기열 선택적 축열운전에서 축열조의 온도는 축열능력과 난방부하에 대응하여 35~52oC로 3단계 변온제어 하였다. 태양잉여열-외기열 선택적 축열에서 태양잉여열 이용 축 열은 전체 시간의 23.1%, 외기열 이용 축열은 30.7%, 히트펌프 휴지시간은 46.2%를 차지하였으며, 난방성능계수는 태양잉여열 이용 축열 시 3.83, 외기열 이용 축열 시 2.77, 전체 3.24로 평가되었다. 비교시험을 위해 축열 조 온도를 50~52oC로 항온제어 하는 조건에서 외기열 단독 이용 축열 시험을 수행하였으며 이때의 난방성능계 수는 2.33으로 분석되었다. 결과적으로 공기 대물 히트 펌프의 열원으로 온실내부 태양잉여열과 외부 공기열을 병용하고, 축열조 온도를 변온제어한 결과 일반적인 외기열 이용 축열운전과 축열조 항온제어에 비해 난방성능 계수가 39% 향상됨을 확인하였다.

        본 연구에서는 서로 다른 열전달 특성을 가진 탄소섬유 전기발열체와 경유온풍난방기가 온실 내부의 온습도, 에너지소비, 작물생육 등에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해 오이 재배 단동온실에 대한 난방 비교시험을 수행하였다. 전기발열체 온실에서 난방용량이 온실 환경과 난방기 운전에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해 온실에 6, 9, 16kW의 전력을 각각 공급한 결과 전기발열체 ON-OFF 주기는 각각 9, 11, 15회로 비례하여 증가하였으며 온실 내부 평균온도는 각각 15.2, 15.3, 15.6oC, 평균상대습도는 84, 81, 76%로 나타나 난방 용량이 클수록 온실내부 온도는 높고, 상대습도는 낮게 나타났다. 또한 6, 9kW 가동 시 하부온도가 상부보다 0.1oC 높았으며 16kW 가동 시는 상부 평균온도가 하부보다 0.2oC 높았다. 전기발 열체와 경유온풍난방기의 비교 시험에서는 난방 시 온실 상부와 하부의 온도차가 전기발열체 온실이 0.1~0.2oC로 경유온풍난방기 온실의 0.5~0.6oC보다 작았으며, 온실 상류와 하류의 온도차는 전기발열체 온실이 0~0.1oC로 경 유온풍난방기 온실의 1.3~1.4oC보다 작아 정밀한 온도관리가 가능하였다. 난방기간 동안 사용한 에너지사용량은 경유온풍난방기 온실이 경유 867L를, 전기발열체 온실이 전력량 8,959kWh를 사용하였으며, 난방비용은 각각 607 천원과 403천원이 소요되어 전기발열체 온실에서 약 34%의 비용절감 효과가 있었다. 전기발열체 온실의 경우 상대적으로 군락 상하부의 환경관리가 균일하여 초장을 비롯한 전반적 생육상황이 경유온풍난방기 온실보다 좋았으나 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 없었으며, 수확량 역시 전기발열체 온실의 작물군락 하부 온도가 경유온풍 난방기 온실보다 1.3oC 더 높게 관리되어 4.3% 증수효과가 있었으나 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 없었다. 원예 시설의 최적 난방 관리를 위해서는 각 난방기의 열전달 특성에 기초하여 난방기 용량, 배치, 열분배 방법에 대한 설계가 요구되며, 전열선 형태의 난방기 역시 작물형상 및 재배방법을 고려하여 전열선의 개수, 위치, 방열 온도 등에 대한 설계가 필요한 것으로 판단되었다.

        With the concerns of global climate change, the significant changes in rainfall patterns have aggravated the occurrence of pollutants from agricultural uplands. Heavy and intensive rainfalls have rinsed a variety of pollutants off the land, sending them into the neighboring water environments which further causes water pollution problems. Recently, the application of PAM(Polyacrylamide) in agricultural lands has gotten much attention for soil conditioning. Therefore, this study aimed to develop the automatic control system applying the chemical flocculant, liquid PAM in order to flocculate the suspended solids and deposit at the bottom of farmland water channel, so eventually minimize the amount of non-point pollutants discharged into receiving water. The optimum feed rate for liquid PAM was calculated through the experiment in artificial water channel and applied to the control system. As the results of the performance test of the automatic turbid water control system installed in the sloped field, the range of turbidity reduction rate was 25 to 33% with the average turbidity of 292 to 498 NTU in water channel.

        We screened 108 cultivars of grapevine (Vitis spp.) for resistance to grape ripe rot, caused by Colletotrichum acutatum and C. gloeosporioides. We evaluated the resistance to ripe rot of berries and vine leaves from grape cultivars by measuring the lesion size after inoculation with C. acutatum and C. gloeosporioides. ‘Aki Queen’ (Table grape) and ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ (Wine grape) were shown to be moderate resistant against inoculation of C. acutatum both in berries and leaves. ‘Emperatriz’, ‘Honey Red’, ‘Honey Venus’, ‘Izumo Queen’, and ‘Rosario Rosso’ in table grapes, and ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’, ‘Chancellor’, ‘Chardonnay Decoupe’, and ‘Ventura’ in wine grapes, were shown to be resistant to C. gloeosporioides both in berries and leaves of them. Grape cultivars were classified into four classes based on its level of resistance to C. acutatum and C. gloeosporioides. The present data for determining ripe rot resistance will be very useful in developing effective disease management strategies in the vineyards and selecting grape genetic resources to be used in disease resistant grape breeding programs.

        Crude extracts from several medicinal plants were investigated for their antimicrobial activities against Colletotrichum spp. in grapevines Extracts of sweet wormwood, cockscomb flowers, asian plantain flowers, and peach tree resin showed in vitro antifungal activity on growth of Colletotrichum acutatum. To test inhibition effects of ripe rot development by C. acutatum and C. gloeosporioides, grapevine leaves were sprayed with each extract (500 fold diluted) from sweet wormwood and cockscomb flower and leaves, asian plantain flower and peach tree resin. The crude extracts of medicinal plants displayed remarkable in vivo antimicrobial activities with inhibition of lesion development by 22.5 to 67.5 % in ‘Blanc seedless’ and 2.12 to 53.2% in ‘Thompson seedless’ inoculated with agar block of C. acutatum and by 19.2 to 61.5% in 'Blanc seedless' and 19.6 to 78.3% in ‘Thompson seedless’ grapevines inoculated with spore suspension of C. acutatum compared with the untreated control. The crude extracts of medicinal plants showed remarkable inhibition of ripe rot by 26 to 64.8 % in ‘Blanc seedless’ and 25.5 to 76.5% in ‘Thompson seedless’ grapevine leaves inoculated with C. gloeosporioides agar block inoculation and by 23.1 to 61.5% in 'Blanc seedless' and 18.8 to 25% in ‘Thompson seedless’ grapevine leaves inoculated with C. gloeosporioides spore suspension compared with uninoculated control. These findings indicate that medicinal plant extracts could be used as possible candidates to control ripe rot disease environment friendly in grapevines.
