        PURPOSES: This study aims to evaluate the effects of vehicle dynamic behaviors on ride quality. METHODS: Simulation and field test were conducted to analyze the behavior of a driving vehicle. The simulation program CarSIM was applied and an INS (Inertial Navigation System) was used for field experiments. A small simulator was developed to simulate vehicle behavior such as roll, pitch, and bounce. The panels evaluated the ride quality in five stages from “very satisfied”to “very dissatisfied.”Experiments were conducted on a total of 144 cases of vehicle behavior combinations. RESULTS: In both simulation and field tests, pitch is the largest and yaw the smallest. Especially in the field test, the amount of yaw is very low, about 7% of pitch and 18% of roll. The sensitive and extensive analysis conducted related ride quality with changing the frequency and amplitude. It was found that the most sensitive frequency range is 8 Hz across all amplitudes. Moreover, the combination of the roll and bounce was most sensitive to the ride quality at the low-frequency range. CONCLUSIONS: This result show that the vertical vehicle behavior (bounce) as well as the rotational behavior (roll and pitch) are highly correlated with ride quality. Therefore, it is expected that a more reasonable roughness index can be developed through a combination of vertical and rotational vehicle behavior.

        PURPOSES: This study aims to develop a rational procedure for estimating the pavement roughness index considering vehicle wandering. METHODS: The location analysis of the passing vehicle in the lane was performed by approximately 1.2 million vehicles for verification of the wandering distribution. According to verification result, the distribution follows the normal distribution pattern. The probability density function was estimated using each lane's wandering distribution model. Then the procedure for applying a weighted value into the lane profile was conducted using this function. RESULTS : The modified index, MRIw, with consideration towards applying the wandering weighted value application was computed then compared with MRI. It was found that the Coefficient of Variation for distribution of lateral roughness index in the lane was high in the case of a large difference between each index (i.e., MRIw and MRI) observed. CONCLUSIONS : This result confirms that the new procedure with consideration of the weight factor can successfully improve the lane representative characteristics of the roughness index.

        Recycling is required for all disused vehicle since 2015. The resource recycling act also recommends that most disused vehicle parts have to be reused except for steering and brake parts. Since vehicle windshields should provide protection for drivers and passengers, they need high structural strength and reliability. However, the vehicle windshields themselves contain many defects arising from glass production process. Because the vehicle windshields are exposed to harsh road conditions, they are expected to experience the formation and growth of surface cracks, which can result in sudden failure. In this study, equibiaxial flexural strength tests are performed on used vehicle windshields to examine whether or not the parts can endure high impact stress due to foreign flying objects. The following conclusions can be drawn: (1) The equibiaxial flexural strength of used vehicle windshields fits the two-parameter Weibull distribution. The equibiaxial flexural strength with a 99.9% failure probability is 69MPa for used vehicle windshields. (2) The equibiaxial flexural strength with six sigma quality level and maximum principal stress at vehicle windshield under high impact load are 8.05MPa and 23MPa respectively. Therefore, Structural safety factor of used vehicle windshields is 0.35 and so we should prohibit used vehicle windshields from keeping in reuse.

        In this paper, we investigate the trend of injector waveform change due to failure of air flow sensor and intake air temperature sensor of CRDI engine. Changes in the injector opening time can be detected by the failure of the associated sensor, and the extension of the reaction time is closely related to fuel consumption. Thus, the proper maintenance time of the vehicle will affect the fuel economy and reduce the exhaust gas.

        국내 고속도로 콘크리트 중앙분리대는 SB5-B(270kJ)의 충돌등급에 저항하도록 설계되어 있다. 그러나 최근 대형 화물차 량의 충돌사고가 지속적으로 증가하는 경향을 보이고 있어 SB6(420kJ) 등급으로의 상향이 필요하다. 충돌등급 상향을 위한 새로운 중앙분리대 단면을 제시하기 위해서는 실제 충돌시험을 수행하여 기준 통과여부를 결정하며, 충돌시험 수행을 위한 적정 단면을 제시하기 위해서는 충돌해석을 통해 선정한다. 이러한 충돌해석의 정확도 향상을 위해서는 차량 모델, 콘크리트 단면 열화상태, 콘크리트 피복 두께 등 다양한 변수에 대한 정확한 변수 선정이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 공차 중량, 단면 열화, 콘크리트 피복 두께에 대한 변수연구를 수행하여 충돌저항성능 저감을 확인하였다. 전체 중량뿐만 아닌 공차 중 량에 따라 중앙분리대의 충돌저항성능에 차이가 있는 것으로 확인되었으며, 10cm 이하의 콘크리트 피복 두께에서는 충돌저 항성능이 민감하게 증가 또는 감소한다. 단면 열화가 발생할 경우 중앙분리대의 충돌저항성능의 감소가 발생하여 열화정도 에 따른 보수 및 보강이 이루어져야 하는 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 콘크리트 구조물과 차량의 충돌해석을 수행할 경우 트럭 의 공차중량 비율, 콘크리트의 피복두께 및 열화에 대한 영향이 상세하게 고려될 필요가 있음을 확인하였다.

        본 논문에서는 곤충 모방 날갯짓 초소형 비행체에 적용될 끈을 이용한 날갯짓 구동 장치의 구동 원리와 그 최적화 과정이 소개된다. 이 날갯짓 구동 장치는 끈을 이용하여 구조의 경량화와 관성력 감소로 인한 에너지 효율 상승을 목적으로 설계되 었다. 먼저 장력만 전달할 수 있는 끈의 특성을 고려하여 운동학적인 수식이 정립되었으며, 이를 통해 구동 장치의 거동 특 성을 파악할 수 있었다. 이 수식들은 수정된 패턴 검색 최적화 과정에 포함되어 메커니즘의 운동학적 최적화를 가능하게 만 들었다. 최적화된 형상으로 제작된 시제품은 설계의 구동 원리에 맞게 운동하였으며, 그 날갯짓 폭은 목표한 날갯짓 폭을 만 족시켰다. 수치적 시뮬레이션과 실험 결과는 잘 일치하여 제시된 구동 장치가 실제로 활용될 수 있음을 보였다.

        PURPOSES :This study aims to improve complex modeling of multivariable, nonlinear, and overdispersion data with an artificial neural network that has been a problem in the civil and transport sectors.METHODS :Deep learning, which is a technique employing artificial neural networks, was applied for developing a large bus fuel consumption model as a case study. Estimation characteristics and accuracy were compared with the results of conventional multiple regression modeling.RESULTS :The deep learning model remarkably improved estimation accuracy of regression modeling, from R-sq. 18.76% to 72.22%. In addition, it was very flexible in reflecting large variance and complex relationships between dependent and independent variables.CONCLUSIONS :Deep learning could be a new alternative that solves general problems inherent in conventional statistical methods and it is highly promising in planning and optimizing issues in the civil and transport sectors. Extended applications to other fields, such as pavement management, structure safety, operation of intelligent transport systems, and traffic noise estimation are highly recommended.

        This paper is on developing the waveform analysis method in driving control of solenoid injector of CRDI diesel engine. The experimental methods using Pico oscilloscope and scan tool is employed to measure current and voltage waveform of solenoid injector. The solenoid injector are used 1 normal and 2 abnormal injectors. The experiment is carried out during no-load condition. The magnitude of pressure drop is largest main duration, pre and pilot duration in the order named in case of normal injector, whereas was largest pilot duration, pre and main duration in the order named in case of abnormal injectors.

        The test was done on cars travelling at the speeds of 20km/h, 60km/h and 100km/h using the performance testing mode for chassis dynamometer. In this test, the secondary ignition waveform, exhaust emissions and fuel consumption were measured in case of faulty MAP sensor, faulty oxygen sensor and spark plugs. The following results from the related analysis of secondary waveform, emission and fuel consumption measurements were obtained : 1) The fuel consumption was higher in the order of oxygen sensor trouble, MAP trouble, spark plug trouble, before maintenance and after maintenance. Maximum fuel economy is 9.3km/L, the minimum fuel economy is 3.2km/L, the difference between max. and min. is 65.5%. 2) If you compare the oxygen sensor trouble with after maintenance, the CO has improved an average of 98%, fuel economy average of 60%. And the HC has improved an average of 87%, fuel economy average of 60%. The fuel consumption and exhaust gas was bad in the order of oxygen sensor trouble, MAP trouble and S/P trouble.

        This study was carried out to apply the UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) coupled with Multispectral sensor for the algae bloom monitoring in river. The study acquired remote sensing data using UAV on the midstream area of Gum River, one of four major rivers in South Korea. Normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) is used for monitoring algae change. This study conducted water sampling and analysis in the field for correlating with NDVI values. Among the samples analyzed, the chlorophyll concentration exhibited strong and significant linear relationships with NDVI, and thus NDVI was chosen for algae bloom index to identify emergence aspect of phytoplankton in river. Aerial remote sensing technology can provide more accurate, flexible, cheaper, and faster monitoring methods of detecting and predicting eutrophication and therefore cyanobacteria bloom in water reservoirs compared to currently used technology. As a result, there was high level of correlation in chlorophyll-a and NDVI. It is expected that when this remote water quality and pollution monitoring technology is applied in the field, it would be able to improve capabilities to deal with the river water quality and pollution at the early stage.

        Due to rapid development of infrared guided weapon, survivability of armored vehicle is severely threatened. Hence, reduction of susceptibility by lowering infrared signature level is essential to enhance survivability of the vehicle. For this purpose, numerical analysis is conducted to analyze time and spatial characteristics of infrared signature of the vehicle when surface emissivity changes in this study. The analysis shows that the emissivity which produces minimum contrast radiant intensity is significantly altered by time and detecting position. Based on the result, it is concluded that the controlled structures which have different emissivity should be adopted at different region of the vehicle to effectively decrease infrared signature level.

        Numerical analysis has been carried out to investigate the structural characteristics of auxiliary shaft system in a compact special vehicle. Stress and deformation distributions with safe factor in the auxiliary axle system are compared. It can be seen that maximum stress happens near the local axle position and deformation at the air spring is also predicted. The results from this study could be applicable for optimal design of variable shaft system in the compact special vehicle.

        This paper investigates the waveform analysis of voltage and current waveform from CRDI engine. It is on developing on analysis method of waveform CRDI Diesel engine. The experimental methods using Pico oscilloscope are employed to measure current and voltage waveform of solenoid injector from CRDI engine. The one normal and two abnormal solenoid injectors are used. The experiment is carried out during no-load condition. A summary of the important results are as follows. 1) The area of the voltage and current waveform of the abnormal injector becomes larger than the that of normal injector. 2) The area of the current waveform can be obtained more accurate results than that of voltage waveform.

        The objective€of this study is to analyze the needs and€determine the requirements of€elder drivers for effectively€using In-vehicle Information Systems (IVIS), by reducing cognitive and physical impact on this vulnerable group. The persona method was used to determine the relevant characteristics of older drivers. Task analysis was performed in order to obtain general interaction problems of the personas when using a common function of recent days IVIS. The results were classified in the different usability goals as general requirements, specific needs. This study suggest improvement directions in order to develop an elderly friendly IVIS; in addition, different usability metrics were suggested. In this way, elder drivers would easily interact with new powerful functions supplied by IVIS of modern cars; while improving safety and comfort of an rapidly aging society.

        In this paper, a study on noise reduction characteristics of the precast floating track system, being developed as measures to mitigate noise and vibration of existing as well as constructing elevated railroad stations, is presented using numerical analysis. One of the most prominent sound analysis program, Virtual Lab., is utilized in investigating noise reduction performance of the precast floating track system, and structural velocity data, obtained from vibration analysis on a model-updated elevated railroad station considering vehicle-track-structure interaction, are used for the input of the sound analysis. The sound analysis is performed using the finite element method, and noise reduction performance before and after installing the precast floating track system is compared at three enclosed areas in the Daecheon Station, selected as a representative of elevated railroad stations in this nation. From the comparison result, it is seen that the precast floating track system can decrease noise by average of 5dB∼8dB when the Saemaeul train passing through the station and 10dB∼15dB when the KTX train passing through. Also, the noise reduction characteristics is different depending on the type of train and the distance from the track.

        The findings were summarized as follows. The safety check by manufacturer showed that 6 of 13 companies are over the average occurrence of defects. It was expected that there would be a difference between manufacturing technology capability and production system of each manufacturer. Consequently, manufacturers should institutionally improve and strengthen certification items for the upward standardization of safety certification before factory. Second, the safety check by year showed that the results of this study accord with those of previous studies on defect time. Consequently, manufacturers should classify the 3-year-old equipment for vehicle-mounted MEWP into a special check subject to do a nondestructive test according to proven results, and also reflect the test in a safety test system to do regular preventive activities of equipment defects. Third, the safety check by part showed that the boom and outrigger parts of vehicle-mounted MEWP have the most defects. Stress concentration resulted in defects as the boom part was most frequently operated in the structural parts for a real work. To prevent this, it is suitable to improve the hardness of boom materials. The outrigger part needs improvement in safety devices with materials. As an outrigger supports the overturning moment of equipment, it is most affected by its load based on the operating radius, resulting in fatigue crack.
