        본 연구는 주요 조생종 콩의 생육과 종실품질 및 수량을 비교하여 남부지방 다모작 재배농가의 조생종 콩 품종선택에 활용하고자 전남 나주(위도 35˚04'N, 경도 126˚54'E)에서 6월 15일에 파종하여 수행하였다. 큰올콩과 화성풋콩은 성숙기가 9월 12일로 빨라 작부체계 도입에 유리할 뿐만 아니라 종실품질과 수량이 양호하였다. 그리고 새올콩과 신록콩은 성숙기가 9월 20일 전.후로 조금 늦으나 종실품질이 좋고 수량이 많았다. 따라서 콩 후작물을 9월 중순에 파종하고자 할 때는 큰올콩과 화성풋콩이, 9월 하순에 파종하고자 할 때는 새올콩과 신록콩이 유리하였다. 그리고 주요 조생종 콩의 조기수확에 따른 종실품질과 수량성 등을 검토하여 조기수확 한계기를 구명하고자 수행하였다. 큰올콩은 수확적기(9월 12일)보다 6일전(9월 6일)에 수확할 때 입중, 수량, 종실품질 등이 적기수확과 차이가 없었다. 한편 새올콩은 수확적기(9월 24일)보다 6일전(9월 18일)에 수확할 때 입중, 수량, 종실품질 등이 적기수확과 차이가 없다. 따라서 큰올콩과 새올콩의 안정적인 조기수확 한계기는 수확적기 6일 전이다.

        The objective of this study was to investigate the variation of Chinese milk vetch(Astragalus sinicus L.; CMV) seed quality after flowering. We tagged individual open flowers of CMV at the day of maximum flowering(11 May) in Seoul, Korea. Seed samples were harvested serially at 15, 20, 25 and 30 days after flowering(DAF). To compare with dried seeds, non-dried seeds were tested immediately after harvest and the remaining seeds were placed at room temperature for 4 weeks. Seed length, 1000 seed weight, moisture content, germination rate(GR), mean germination time(MGT), germination speed(GS), germination performance index(GPI) and physical dormancy rate(PDR) were investigated. Seed length increased to 2.6 mm and 1000 seed weight reached up to 2.2 g until 25 DAF. Seed moisture content dramatically decreased from 20 to 25 DAF. Moisture content of non-dried seed(7.5%) was similar to that of dried seed(5.5%) at 25 DAF. The rate of seed viability reached up to 94% at 25 DAF. In case of dried seed, GR increased up to 39% at 25 DAF whereas GR of non-dried seed varied from 5 to 10%. GS and GPI of dried seed were significantly higher than those of non-dried seed since 25 DAF. PDR of dried seed has decreased since 20 DAF, whereas PDR of non-dried seed has increased. GR, GS and GPI increased as PDR decreased. Our results evidenced that PDR might be one of major factor in variation of seed quality, of which development was completed at 25 DAF.

        “Sangbeak” (Perilla frutescens (L.) Britton), is a cultivar for leaf vegetable, from a cross between YPL5 (Ipdeulkkae1/ YCPL187) and “Namcheon” at the National Yeongnam Agricultural Experiment Station (NYAES), RDA, in 2003. The size of fully grown leaf is a important trait in delayed harvesting. The maximum leaf size of “Sangbeak” is 18.5cm, smaller than 21.4cm of a check cultivar, “Ipdeulkkae”1, leading to the constant leaf quality in delayed harvest. The fresh leaf yield of “Sangbeak” is 6% higher than that of “Ipdeulkkae 1” (5029 vs. 4742 kg/10a). For the leaf production, “Sangbeak” could be grown in whole area of South Korea. However, because of its late maturity, seed production culture is available in South Gyeongsang and South Jeolla provinces.

        본 연구는 나물용 콩의 파종기가 콩나물 원료콩의 품질에 미치는 영향을 구명함으로써 양질 콩나물 품종육성과 재배기술 확립을 위한 기초 자료를 얻고자 2000~2001 년에 호남농업연구소 전작시험포장에서 파종시기 시험과 콩나물 간이검정실에서 콩나물생장 시험을 수행하였다. 시험 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 종실의 자반립, 열피립 및 미숙립 발생율은 5월 25일 파종이 6월 15일과 7월 5일 파종에 비하여 높았고, 풍산나물콩이 자반립, 열피립 및 미숙립 발생율이 가장 낮았으며 한남콩이 발생율이 가장 높았다. 2. 조단백질함량은 파종기가 늦어지면서 감소하였고, 5월 25일과 6월 15일 파종에서 다원콩이 가장 높았고 7월 5일 파종에서는 풍산나물콩이 가장 높았다. 조지방함량은 파종기에 따른 일정한 경향이 없었으며 소명콩이 가장 높았고 다원콩이 가장 낮았다. 3. Isoflavone의 aglycone 함량은 6월 15일 파종이 가장 많았고 다음으로 7월 5일파종이 많았으며, 5월 25일파종이 적었고, 품종간에는 소명콩이 가장 많았고 다원콩이 가장 낮았다. 4. 종실의 품질향상을 위한 나물콩의 파종기는 지나친 일찍 또는 늦게 심는 것 보다 품종 특성을 고려하여야 할 것으로 판단되었다.

        The 117 soybean cultivars were collected from nine provinces in Korea, and various seed quality traits along with isoflavone contents were evaluated to elucidate their relationship. The 100-seed weight of the black soybean (31.2 g) was significantly higher (p<0.05) than yellow soybeans (28.6 g). The composition of genistein, daidzein, and glycitein accounted for 75.8, 22.8, and 1.4 % of total isoflavone in yellow soybean cultivars, while their compositions in black soybeans were 58.5, 39.7, and 1.8%, respectively. The mean contents of total isoflavone in yellow and black soybean were l,561.6~mug~;g-1~;and~;l,018.3~mug~;g-1 . The isofalvone content showed significant variation among cultivars when classified by the seed size. In the yellow soybeans, total isoflavone content was higher in small size soybean cultivars (1,776.0~mug~;g-1) and medium size soybean cultivars (1,714.3~mug~;g-1) compared to large size ones (1,518.5~mug~;g-1) . Genistein content was proved as the major factor determining the relationship between isoflavone content and 100-seed weights (r =-0.206*). Daidzein and glycitein, however, showed no significant relationship with the 100-seed weights. Isoflavone content was not significantly correlated with color parameters L (lightness) and a (redness) values, but color parameter b (yellowness) was positively correlated with glycitein (r=0.264*) in the yellow soybeans, while its negative correlation between daidzein (r=-0.245*) and total isoflavone (r=-0.256*) were observed in black soybeans. However, these findings suggested that the seed color value may not serve as an effective parameter for estimating the isoflavone intensity of the soybeans. Variation of protein and lipid contents between yellow soybeans (n=58) and black soybeans (n=59) was relatively stable, however, protein and lipid contents have no significant relationship with isoflavone content.

        Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) seeds contain abundant oil and antioxidative lignans related to the seed quality. To evaluate the potential effects of drought stress on the chemical composition of sesame seeds, eighteen cultivars were imposed water-deficit condition by withholding irrigation during 15 days at podding and maturing stage, compared with well-watered plants as control in seed yield and chemical composition. Drought treatments showed great decrease of seed yield with not affecting seed weight. The contents of sesamin and sesamolin decreased while lignan glycosides inversely increased in response to drought stress. Oil content was not significantly changed by drought treatment in spite of its slight decrease. In case of fatty acid composition, there were significant differences in increase of oleic acid while inverse decrease of linoleic acid under drought stress condition. These results demonstrate that the chemical composition of sesame seed may be modified with drought stress. In particular, the increase of sesaminol glucosides with strong antioxidative activity was observed.

        홍화의 노지및 하우스재배의 생육과 수량 및 수확시기별 종실의 품질에 대한 시험결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 하우스비가림재배가 노지재배에 비해 출현기는 3일, 개화기는 8일이 빨랐으며, 생육도 양호하여 10g당 종실수량도 노지재배 보다 25~% 증수되어 노지재배 보다 비가림재배가 유리하였다. 조지방함량은 비가림하우스재배가 노지재배보다 높았고 종자의 색택도 비가림하우스재배에서 변색없이 흰색이었으나 노지재배에서는 변색되어 품질이 나빴다. 노지재배의 조지방 함량은 수확기까지 높아졌으며 개화성기 20일 이후 수확에서는 차이가 없었으나, 종실의 색깔은 개화성기 30일 이후 점차 변하여 개화성기 후 40일 수확은 흑갈색으로 종실품질이 크게 떨어져 종실의 수확시기는 개화성기 후 20일에서 30일 사이가 가장 좋았다.

        The effects of Rhizobium inoculant, nitrogen, phosphorus, and molybdenum on nodulation, dry matter production, yield attributes, pod and seed yields, protein and phosphorus contents in seed of pea (pisum sativum) var. IPSA Motorshuti-3 were assessed by a field experiment. Among the treatments Rhizobium inoculant in combination with 25kg P and 1.5kg Mo/ha performed best in recording number of nodules/plant, total dry matter yield, number of pods/plant, number of seeds/pod, 1000-seed weight, green pod yield, green and mature seed yields of pea. The highest green pod yield of 15.37 t/ha (97.05~% increase over control) and green seed yield of 9.6t/ha (69.31~% increase over control) were obtained by inoculating pea with Rhizobium inoculant in association with 25kg P and 1.5 Mo/ha. The effects of 60 or 120kg N/ha were comparable to Rhizobium inoculant in most cases. There were positive correlations among yield attributes, yield, protein and phosphorus contents in seeds of pea. From the viewpoint of yield attributes, yield, and seed quality, application of Rhizobium inoculant along with 25kg P and 1.5kg Mo/ha was considered to be the balanced combination of nutrients for achieving the maximum output from cultivation of pea in Shallow-Red Brown Terrace Soil of Bangladesh.

        잇꽃 종실의 품질 향상에 효과적인 황 시용방법을 구명하고자 황분말 20 kg/10a와 유안의 시용방법 및 시용량을 달리하여 종실의 영양적 품질에 미치는 영향을 비교 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 종실의 질소와 황 함량은 황 무시용구에 비해 시용구에서 높은 경향이었다. 황 처리간에는 질소 함량은 차이가 없었으나, 황 함량은 유안 토양시비량이 증가할수록 높아졌다. 유안 시비방법 간에는 토양시비 33 kg/10a와 엽면시비 간에 큰 차이는 없었다. 질소/황 비율은 황 시용으로 질소/황 비율이 저하되었고, 유안 토양시비 간에는 시용량이 증가할수록 감소하여 유안 49.5 kg/10a 처리시 가장 낮았다. 2. 종실의 조지방과 조단백질 함량은 황 시용시 무시용에 비하여 높았으며, 황 유형 간에는 조지방이 유안 엽면시비에서 가장 높았고, 조단백질이 유안 16.5 kg/10a에서 가장 낮았던 것을 제외하고 차이가 없었다. 3. 총페놀성 화합물 함량과 항산화 활성은 황 시용으로 증가하였다. 황 처리 간에는 총페놀성 화합물 함량은 차이가 없었으나, 항산화 활성은 황분말과 유안 33.0 kg/10a 처리에서 다소 높았다.

        In Korea, production of super sweet corn has been economically feasible and is substituting for traditional sweet corn due to better flavor in recent years. Major limiting factors for super sweet corn production are low field emergence and low seedling vigor. The optimum water potential (WP) for the priming of normal and aged seeds of dent, sweet (su) and super sweet (sh2) corns was studied to improve low seed quality. Seeds were primed at 0, -0.3, -0.6, -0.9, and -1.2 MPa of polyethylene glycol (PEG) 8000 solution at 15~circC for 2 days. Priming effects differed depending on the type of corn, seed quality, and WP of PEG solution. Although WP of priming solution did not influence the emergence rate of extremely high quality normal dent corn seeds, it reduced time to 50~% emergence (T50) and increased plumule weight. In contrast, the emergence rate of aged field corn was improved by seed priming at 0 MPa and plumule weight and α-amylase activity was enhanced. The optimum WP for both normal and aged sweet and super sweet corn seeds was between -0.3 and -0.6 Mpa. At the optimum WP emergence rate, α-amylase activity, and content of DNA and soluble protein increased, while T50 and leakage of total sugars and electrolytes reduced.

        The production of sweet (su) and super sweet corns (sh2) has been economically feasible in Korea in recent years. Major factors limiting super sweet corn production are low germination and low seedling vigor. Since seed quality is closely related to seed maturity, the optimum harvest time for the seed production of sweet and super sweet corns was studied and the quality of seeds with varying maturities was investigated in 2001 and 2002 cropping seasons. The parents of the sweet corn seeds were Hybrid Early Sunglow and 'Golden Cross Bantam 70' and those of super sweet corn were Xtrasweet 82 and 'For­tune'. Seeds were harvested at 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, and 56 days after silking (DAS). As the seeds developed, seed weight of sweet corn increased and the seed moisture content decreased faster than that of super sweet corn. Germination rates of sweet corn seeds harvested 21 and 28 DAS at 25~circC and emergence rates in the cold soil test were significantly lower than those of seeds harvested after 42 DAS in both years. Although the germination rates of super sweet corn seeds with varying maturities showed similar patterns as sweet corn seeds at 25~circC , the emergence rate of super sweet corn seeds in cold soil test continuously increased with seed maturity. This suggests that seed quality of super sweet corn should be tested in a cold soil test to estimate field emergence. As the seeds developed, leakage of total sugars and electrolytes from the both sweet and super sweet corn seeds decreased up to 42 or 49 DAS. The α-amylase activities of both sweet and super sweet corn seeds increased with seed maturity from 21 to 35 or 49 DAS depending on genotype and year. The optimum harvest time for the seed production of sweet corn was 42 DAS and 49 DAS for super sweet corn considering emergence rate and plumule dry weight in the cold soil test, leakage of sugars and electrolytes from the seeds, and α-amylase activity.

        This study was carried out to evaluate the seed quality of soybeans produced from upland and drained-paddy fields. Soybeans from drained-paddy field showed significantly higher in the 100 seeds weight and greater in the size of seed length than those from upland fields. However, there are no significant differences in seed width and thickness between upland and paddy fields. In case of Hunter's color value, the lightness (L) was significantly higher in the upland soybeans, but the a (redness) and b (yellowness) values were higher in the drained-paddy field soybeans. Seed appearance of drained-paddy field was poor than that of upland field. Soybeans produced from the drained-paddy field showed higher protein content, whereas, lipid and ash contents were higher in the upland field. Soybeans from upland field had lower contents of total amino acids compared to drained-paddy fields. No statistical differences were found in palmitic, linoleic, and linolenic, but stearic, oleic, saturated fatty acids (SFA), and unsaturated fatty acids (USFA) showed significant differences between soybean seeds from upland and drained-paddy fields. Genistein content was higher in the drained-paddy fields, while daidzein and glycitein contents were higher in the upland fields. This result suggested that the soil condition of drained-paddy field is more favorable to synthesis genistein than daidzein and glycitein.
