        Electronic Charting systems (ECS) in yachting and boating are the non-professional counterparts to ECDIS in commercial shipping. In the absence of legal regulations on design and use, a wide variety of products have de-veloped. Their usability is not only safety critical but often even determines whether navigation functions like route building or track recording are used at all. With two empirical studies employing standard usability meth-ods from human factors research, we assessed the usability of a variety of current ECSs on a sailing yacht. In study 1, nine usability experts conducted multimethod analyses while sailing in typical cruising areas on sea. Building on the results, a standardized user test was designed and carried out with 12 prototypical users plus 3 usability experts in inland waters (study 2). Finally, a set of 38 design and usability guidelines were formulated. The guidelines may not only help boat owners and charter companies in selecting a current market product but also aid manufacturers in designing their future products. Contributions: David Jung (study 1) and Martin Müller (study 2) conducted the studies and formulated the guide-lines. Gisela Müller-Plath designed and managed the research project ANeMoS (Analysing Use and Impact of NewMedia on Sailboats) which the present work is part of, commanded the sailing yacht, and wrote the paper.

        The site coefficients in the common requirements for seismic design codes, which were promulgated in 2017, were reevaluated and the standard design spectrum for soil sites were newly proposed in order to ensure the consistency of the standard design spectra for rock and soil sites specified in the common requirements. Using the 55 ground motions from domestic and overseas intraplate earthquakes, which were used to derive the standard design spectrum for rock sites, as rock outcropping motions, site response analyses of Korean soil were performed and its ground-motion-amplification was characterized. Then, the site coefficients for soil sites were reevaluated. Compared with the existing site coefficients, the newly proposed short-period site coefficient Fa increased and the long-period site coefficient Fv decreased overall. A new standard design spectrum for soil sites was proposed using the reevaluated site coefficients. When compared with the existing design spectrum, it could be seen that the proposed site coefficients and the standard design spectrum for soil sites were reasonably derived. They reflected the short-period characteristics of earthquake and soil in Korea.

        근대 신문·잡지의 데이터베이스 축적은 연구자의 원서에 대한 손쉬운 접근과 용이한 데이터 추출을 가능하게 해주었고, 더불어 인문학과 문화예술을 포함한 다양한 전공분야의 연구성과로 이어지고 있다. 그러나 이 같은 성과가 연구 쪽으로만 한정되며, 대학교육과는 별도의 학문영역에서만 다루어지고 있는 것은 분명 아쉬운 부분이다. 대학한문교육에서 근대 신문매체를 활용한다면, 실생활의 한자어뿐만 아니라 관련 한자들이 출 현한 사회·문화적 배경을 학습하는 데에도 큰 도움을 준다. 또한 『황성신문』을 비롯한 당시의 근대 신문·잡지들이 통합검색이 가능한 데이터베이스로 제공되고 있어 자료의 접근성면에서도 편리함을 갖추고 있다. 따라서 본고에서는 근대 신문을 활용한 수업모형(TBL)을 소개했으며, 교육방법론과 더불어 활용적 가치 및 효용성 등에 대해 검토하였다. 이 같은 신문매체와 데이터베이스를 활용한 교육설계는 현대학교육의 효용성이나 방법론적 고민을 조금이나마 줄여줄 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. 비록 본 논문은 대학 한문교육을 중심으로 수업모형을 제시했지만, 그 교육적 가치는 인문학 전반을 아우를 수 있다.

        This study deals with optimization of the calcination process the manufacturing process of SCR catalyst to be competitive. The calcination process is a bottleneck and it is required to optimize productivity and quality. We applied DOE(Design of experiments) among many research methods performed in various fields. In order to achieve quality and productivity optimization. The dependent variables in the DOE were selected as NO Conversion (%). The independent variables were selected as the calcination temperature, soaking time and fan speed RPM. The CCD(Central composite designs) constructs response surface using the data onto experience and finds optimum levels within the fitted response surfaces.

        Ion exchange membranes (IEMs) have been widely employed in various electrochemical processes for water treatment and energy conversion. Their intrinsic properties such as electrical resistance and permselectivity are the key parameters dominating the efficiency of the electrochemical processes. The cost-effectiveness of the IEMs should also be considered for successful commercialization of the electrochemical membrane processes. In this work, we have investigated the optimum design parameters of the cost-effective IEMs for successful application to various electrochemical membrane processes.         The general separation processes for liquid mixtures need the energy consumed and causes of primary cost. The pervaporation separation process could be regarded as the energy saving process[1]. In this study, it is introduced that the preferential isopropyl alcohol separation from the aqueous feed was carried out using the composite membranes according to the operating conditions, such as, the operating temperature, feed concentration etc. And the commercial scale module was prepared and tested for the long-term period, and finally the stabilized and consistent results of both permeability and selectivity were obtained.
