        PURPOSES: To analyze the specific factors of drivers behaviors that amount of cause the greenhouse gas emissions per vehicle. METHODS: Drivers behaviors at intersections are analyzed on the conditions of acceleration and deceleration. RESULTS : First, it is resulted greenhouse gas emissions per vehicle is produced more at intersections than at the main lines of highway. Second, it is resulted that the average speed, the average acceleration rate and the maximum speed are three major factors to produce greenhouse gas per vehicle in acceleration sections. Third, it is resulted that rapid deceleration 20m before entering intersections is the major factor to produce greenhouse gas per vehicle in deceleration sections. CONCLUSIONS: At intersections, sudden acceleration and deceleration is not good for greenhouse gas emissions. Thus, and the average speed, the average acceleration rate and the maximum speed are the chosen as factors to be controlled for drivers' behavior to reduce vehicles' greenhouse gas at intersections.

        운전자의 신경증 수준에 따른 상황인식과 안구운동 및 운전수행에서의 차이를 비교하였다. 정적인 운전장면을 실험자극으로 사용한 실험 1에서는 신경증 수준에 따른 상황인식에서의 차이는 유의하지 않았던 반면, 안구운동의 경우 신경증 저집단에 비해 고집단이 실험자극의 주변영역에 대해 안구고정 시간비율과 안구고정 빈도비율이 모두 낮았다. 실험 2에서는 운전 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 실험참가자들이 실제 상황에 가깝게 운전하도록 한 후, 신경증 수준에 따른 상황인식, 안구운동, 그리고 운전수행 측정치에서의 차이를 비교하였다. 그 결과, 실험 1의 결과와는 대조적으로 신경증 고집단은 저집단에 비해 상황인식 점수가 상대적으로 낮았던 반면, 실험 1의 결과와 마찬가지로 신경증 실험자극의 주변영역에 대한 안구고정 시간비율과 안구고정 빈도비율이 상대적으로 낮았다. 특히, 운전수행 측정치에 대한 비교 결과, 신경증 고집단이 저집단에 비해 차선중앙 이탈값이 더 컸고 평균 운전속도도 더 느렸다.

        PURPOSES: The urban traffic problems can be defined as general problems for smooth traffic flow including maintenance of mass transportation system according to suddenly increased population, traffic regulations for vehicles and pollution problem. As a method for solving traffic jams, one of the traffic problems of late, interest in Intelligent Traffic System(ITS) is increasing sharply, which is a system managing traffic demand by providing passers with information on traffic state of path and road conditions before they pass the road through ATIS, a field of ITS. METHODS: Variable message signs(VMS) is used on the roads as a method for providing information to promote smooth traffic flow and safety and prevent traffic accidents in advance by providing drivers with various information while driving. RESULTS: Recently, as ITS industry has been vitalized and technical factors of VMS have developed, various kinds of information is provided but the effect of VMS has not been maximized due to its limited type. CONCLUSIONS: Therefore, this study intends to provide methods for effective information transfer by analyzing driver's visual behavior characteristics for VMS and presenting a basis for maximizing VMS effect after considering read by expression type.

        PURPOSES: Speeding is often the primary contributor to fatal crashes. Surprisingly, driving behaviors are indirectly affected by personal factors such as law-abidance, risk sensitivity, and situational adaptability. This research aims to verify the effectiveness of pavement markings at reducing the speeds of high-risk drivers. The purpose of this study is to establish how drivers (including law-abiding or law-breaking, high-risk or low-risk) react to different pavement markings in a driving simulator. METHODS: The five different pavement markings were selected from markings used in other nations. The forty-two drivers were then surveyed, via questionnaires, and placed into the corresponding groups. Finally, statistical analysis was conducted to determine the extent of speed reduction for each pavement marking. RESULTS: Higher speeds were linked to the high-risk drivers. Furthermore, after analysis of the mean difference of average speeds by pavement marking, it was determined that Dragon's Teeth had the greatest speed reducing effect on these drivers. CONCLUSIONS: Perceptual countermeasures are unlikely to strongly affect high-risk drivers' perception of speed on the curves. This statistically demonstrates that Dragon's Teeth have a subtle effect on reducing speeds in the driving simulator. This study's significance lies in the improved understanding of high-risk drivers in terms of road facilities. It approaches the effects of various patterns of pavement markings for high-risk drivers.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate drivers' postures in different car pedal systems and skilled levels under fatigue. Twenty four subjects participated in this experiment. For three-dimensional analyses, six cameras (Proreflex MCU-240, Qualisys) were used to acquire raw data. The parameters were calculated and analyzed with Visual-3D. In conclusion, ROAs of two leg-pedal system were less than one leg pedal system by pattern analysis. Through statistical tests, skilled levels have effects on ROAs(X, Y, Z) of ankle joint at breaking a pedal and ROAs(Y, Z) of ankle joint at accelerating a pedal. Also, car pedal systems have effects on ROAs(Y, Z) of ankle joint, and ROA(Z) of knee joint at accelerating a pedal. In addition, skilled levels and car pedal systems (cross effects) have an effect on ROA(Z) of ankle joint. These findings suggested that we should improve a present single pedal system.

        PURPOSES : The fundamental diagram provides basic information necessary in the analysis of traffic flow and highway operation. When traffic flow is congested, the density-flow points in the fundamental diagram are widely scattered and move in a stochastic manner. This paper investigates the pattern of density-flow point transitions and identifies car-following behaviors underlying the density-flow transitions. METHODS : From a microscopic analysis of 722 fundamental diagrams of NGSIM data, a total of 20 transition patterns of fundamental diagrams are identified. Prominent features of the transition patterns are explained by the behavior of the leader and follower. RESULTS : It is found out that the average speed and the speed difference between the leader and the follower critically determine the density-flow transition pattern. The density-flow path is very sensitive to the values of vehicle speed and spacing especially at low speed and high density such that most fluctuations in the fundamental diagram in the congested regime is due to the noise of speed and spacing variations. CONCLUSIONS : The result of this study suggests that the average speed, the speed difference between the leader and the follower, and the random variations of speed and spacing are dominant factors that explain the transition patterns of a fundamental diagram.

        PURPOSES : The accuracy of travel time information is a key measure of effectiveness and reliability of advanced traveler information systems. This study aims at investigating drivers' perception on the acceptable level of information accuracy and their corresponding valuations. METHODS : A questionnaire survey was executed for collecting driver perception data to capture the expectation level of travel time information provided and their willingness to pay for the information. A Tobit model was adopted for exploring the relationship among the acceptable level, driver socioeconomic characteristics and travel attributes. Since drivers' willingness to pay for accurate travel time information can be different according to their travel lengths, a piecewise linear regression model was developed to capture the sensitivity of values of travel time information to travel length. RESULTS : The analysis results suggest that trip purpose and travel time are two dominant factors to determine drivers' acceptable level of travel time information. For business and short trips, drivers want more accurate information than for non-business and long trips. Drivers' willingness to pay for travel time information also varies depending on their incomes, trip purposes and travel lengths. The results also show that drivers' valuation of travel time information provided is sensitive to their travel length. For longer trips, drivers are less sensitive to travel time information and then put less value on the information provided. CONCLUSIONS : Censored nonlinear regression models are developed to estimate drivers' acceptable accuracy for travel time information and their valuation using questionnaire survey data. The findings on drivers perception to the required accuracy of travel time information and their corresponding willingness to pay can be used in the design and deployment of advanced traveler information system to improve its effectiveness and usefulness through high compliance.

        목적 : 운전 수행 기능을 평가와 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 운전 수행에서 숙련운전자, 초보운전자, 비운전자 간의 차이를 살펴 보고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 대전에 소재한 K대에 재학 중인 32명의 대상자들을 경력운전자, 초보운전자, 비운전자로 나누어 비교하였다. 본 연구는 2012년 10월에 실시되었으며, 모든 대상자들에게 Assessment of Driving-Related Skills(ADReS)와 STISIM Driving Simulator를 시행하였다. 결과 : 연구결과 정지반응 속도에서 초보운전자와 비운전자 집단에서 경력운전자에 반해 반응시간이 늦은 것을 확인하였다 (p<.05). 대학생의 운전 수행기능과 사고들의 상관성을 분석해 본 결과 시력을 중심으로 정지반응 시간(-.434)과 중앙선 침범 (-.526)에서 유의한 상관성이 관찰되어 대학생의 운전 수행에 있어 관련이 깊은 요인임을 확인하였다(p<.05). 결론 : 초보운전자들에게는 정지반응 속도와 시력저하로 인하여 사고발생이 증가될 수 있으므로 그에 따른 훈련이 필요하다.

        PURPOSES: The number of traffic accidents in 2010 was 226,978 in Korea, a high percentage of which up to 12.61% was due to drunk driving. As it is expected that the number of traffic accidents will increase because of the drastic increase of the number of vehicle registrations and the prevalent drinking cultures, it is necessary to understand the driving characteristics of drunken drivers to lower the increasing rate. METHODS: This study, therefore, comparatively analyzes the two groups - one group before drinking and the other after drinking - based on the graph, and implements the correlation in each scenario(1,2,3). scenario 1. appearance of jaywalkers; scenario 2. appearance of an illegal left-turning car; and scenario 3. appearance of a vehicle and a person as obstacles to the driver after an accident. RESULTS: The comparative analysis of speed shows that the group after drinking was 50km/h faster than the group before drinking in Scenario 1, 20km/h in Scenario 2, and 15km/h in Scenario 3 respectively. In the comparative analysis of acceleration, the average level of the group after drinking was 0.15 higher than that of the group before drinking in Scenario 1, 0.30 in Scenario 2, and 0.15 in Scenario 3. In the comparative analysis of deceleration, the average level of the group after drinking was about 0.4 lower than that of the group before drinking in Scenario 1, 0.35 in Scenario 2, and 0.2 in Scenario 3 respectively. In the comparative analyses, the item of speed, acceleration and deceleration was of significance for each group in Scenarios. CONCLUSIONS: The comparative analysis demonstrated that there is a difference between the group before drinking and the group after drinking. In the analysis of correlation in each group, it was proved that the drunken group was of significance.

        PURPOSES : Road lighting facilities increase the visibility of road at night in order to improve traffic driver safety and comfort. Generally speaking, current pole lighting has a tendency to create problems of glare and flicker. The phenomenon of glare gives discomfort due to increase of scattered light, when high luminance is in driver's field of view. The phenomenon of flicker occurs due to the driver passing through discontinuous pockets of pole lighting areas. These phenomenon increase eye strain and decrease driver safety. METHODS : Low height line lighting that distributes light lower than driver's eye level has been developed and evaluated to reduce the problems linked to current pole lighting. A test was undertaken with 4 conditions(turn on the general pole lighting, turn off alternate pole lighting, turn on the line lighting and line lighting with 50% dimming). A driver written survey was conducted in order to gain driver feedback. RESULTS : Pupil size and brow frequency compared with degree in pole lighting are reduced. CONCLUSIONS : Low height line lighting environment makes drivers more comfortable than pole lighting environment and is positive lighting method in the energy saving and landscape aspect.

        본 연구에서는 50대 택시 운전자를 대상으로 동작 신호인 Jerk-Cost function(JC)와 차간거리의 분산계수(Anterior-Posterior Coefficient of Variation, APCV), 차선이격거리의 분산계수(Medial-Lateral Coefficient of Variation, MLCV)와 같은 차량 통제 데이터를 이용하여 운전 중 문자 메시지 전송 또는 네비게이션 검색과 같은 동시 과제 수행이 운전 수행 능력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 남성 14명과 여성 14명을 대상으로 실험을 진행하였다. 피험자는 일정 속도(80km/hr or 100km/hr)로 주행하는 선행 차량과 일정 거리 30m를 유지하며 주행하도록 하였다. 처음 1분간은 운전만을 수행하게 하였으며, 다음 1분 동안은 운전만을 수행하거나 운전과 함께 동시 과제를 수행하도록 하였다. MLCV와 APCV는 80km/hr와 100km/hr 주행 시 Driving only에 비해 Driving + Sending Text Message(STM)와 Driving + Searching Navigation(SN)에서 유의하게 증가하였다. JC 또한 주행 시 Driving only에 비해 Driving + STM과 Driving + SN에서 증가하였다. 본 연구를 통해 운전 경력이 길고 운전 전문가라고 할 수 있는 50대 택시 운전자도 운전만을 수행하는 경우에 비해 운전과 함께 문자 메시지 전송 또는 네비게이션 검색 과제를 수행하게 될 경우 동작 패턴이 거칠어지고 차량 통제가 어려워진다는 사실을 도출할 수 있었다.

        본 연구는 불특정 다수의 도로이용자들이 경로우회 시 갖는 의사결정과정속에 내포된 비선형성과 불확실성을 고려한 정도 있는 모형구축으로 주요 우회결정요인을 분석하는 것이 주요 목적이다. 이를 위하여 고속도로 및 국도를 이용하는 운전자를 대상으로 우회여부에 관련된 SP조사를 실시하였고, 조사결과에 대하여 의사결정나무와 신경망이론의 결합된 모형을 구축하여 운전자 우회결정요인을 분석하였다. 분석결과 운전자 우회여부결정에 영향을 미치는 요인은 우회도로 인지여부, 교통정보 신뢰도 및 이용빈도, 경로전환빈도, 나이순으로 나타났다. 또한 오분류표를 통한 기존 모형과의 예측력의 비교결과 결합된 모형의 오분류율이 8.7%로 기존 모형인 로짓모형 12.8%, 의사결정나무 단독 모형 13.8%와 비교했을 때 가장 예측력이 높은 것으로 나타나 운전자 우회결정요인 분석에 관한 모형의 적용 타당성을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 교통량 분산효과와 도로망 효율 증대를 위한 효과적인 우회관리전략 수립 시 기초 자료로 활용가능하리라 사료된다.

        본 연구에서는 운전자의 일관성 있는 교통 정보 학습과정을 기반으로 한 일별 동적 모형을 개발하였다. 개발된 모형은 교통 정보 서비스의 효과 분석이 가능한 형태의 체계를 갖추었다. 즉, 교통 시스템에는 교통 정보 서비스 업체(ISP, Information Service Provider)가 존재하며, ISP의 가입자는 과거 실시간 교통 정보를 제공받으며, 이를 바탕으로 경로를 선택한다. 반면, 교통 정보 미가입자는 개인의 경험 또는 친구, 교통방송 등을 통해서만 교통 정보를 학습하게 된다. 운전자의 경로 선택은 Boundedly-rational 모형으로 표현되었으며, 주어진 동적 통행 수요와 경로 선택에 따른 도로 교통망의 성능을 평가하기 위해 미시 교통 시뮬레이션 모형 (파라믹스)이 사용되었다. 개발된 모형은 실제 도로망에 적용되었으며, 도출된 결과는 개발된 모형의 수렴성과 일관성있는 교통 정보 학습 모형의 효과를 입증하였다.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the secondary tasks such as sending text message (STM) and searching navigation (SN) on skin conductance level (SCL) during driving. The participants included 29 taxi drivers; 14 males aged 56.7 ± 4.3 with 29.7 ± 7.0 years of driving experiences and 15 females aged 55.5 ± 3.5 with 20.1 ± 5.7 years of driving experiences. All subjects were instructed to keep a certain distance (30m) from the car ahead and a constant speed (80km/h or 100km/h). SCL was measured during driving only and driving with secondary tasks. SCL was more increased during the driving with secondary tasks than driving only. By increasing the driving speed, SCL was increased during the driving with secondary taks. Secondary tasks increased an activation of sympathetic nerve system. However, there were no significant differences in the SCL according to gender.

        The purpose of this study was to quantitatively evaluate the effects of the secondary task with unexpected situation during simulated driving using the variable indicating control of vehicle. The subjects were participated 50s people including 15 males with 29.5±6.7 years of driving experiences and 15 females with 20.1±5.6 years of driving experiences. All subjects were instructed to keep a certain distance (30m) from the car ahead and a constant speed (80km/hr or 100km/hr). Sending text message(STM) and Searching navigation(SN) were selected as the secondary task. Experiment consisted of driving alone for 1 minute and driving with secondary task for 1 minute. It was defined driving phase and unexpected situation phase respectively. Medial-lateral coefficient of variation(MLCV) of car movement was analyzed for evaluating lane keeping in this study. In the results, MLCV was increased by 118.3% at 100km/hr. In the case of secondary task, MLCV in STN and in SN were increased by 235.1% and 290.3%, respectively. There was no significant difference between male and female. In case of driving at high-speed and with secondary task, it may be disturbed constant control of the vehicle when unexpected situation appeared suddenly.

        The purpose of this study was to compare pedaling patterns according to pedal types during driving. Three-dimensional gait analyses were performed from a self-selected pace, and fourteen subjects participated in the three times(the early, middle and last years). Six cameras (Proreflex MCU-240, Qualisys) were used to acquire raw data. The parameters were calculated and analyzed with Visual-3D. In conclusion, most joint - ROM of lower limbs were less than two-foot pedal system. It is necessary that the current pedal system is to be improved.

        본 연구에서는 Healey 등(2005)의 데이터를 활용하여 스트레스 정도가 단시간에 변하는 운전상황에서 운전자의 심박변이도 분석을 통해 스트레스 정도에 대한 추정이 가능한지를 예비적으로 평가해 보았다. 단시간에 스트레스 정도가 변하는 운전의 경우 심박변이도 변화 양상은 기존 문헌에 나타난 장거리 운전의 양상과 다르며, meanRR, sdRR, HF, LF/HF, LFnorm, HFnorm의 6가지 심박변이도 파라미터가 스트레스 추정에 유의한 변수로 확인되었다. 정상인 운전자 5명에 대해 6가지 파라미터를 입력변수로, 운전 구간에 따라 변하는 스트레스 정도를 출력변수로 하여 개인별 선형회귀 모델(R2=0.8604±0.0959)을 도출하였으며, 이 선형회귀 모델의 적합성을 평가하기 위하여 심박변이도 데이터를 5분 길이의 16개 세그먼트로 나눈 뒤 실제 스트레스 정도와 추정된 스트레스 정도를 비교해 보았다. 그 결과 일부 세그먼트에서 부정확한 추정 결과가 관찰되기도 하였으나, 실제 스트레스 변화 패턴과 예측된 스트레스 변화 패턴 사이에 높은 상관성이 확인되었다(r=0.8560±0.0619). 향후 운전자 구속을 최소화하면서 측정 가능한 심박변이도 분석 시스템을 개발하고, 이를 Healey 등의 연구에서와 유사한 운전 프로토콜을 통해 다수의 피험자에게 적용함으로써 본 연구결과가 유효한지 검증할 계획이다.
