        To preserve atmospheric environment of urban areas, it needs to create urban space considering air pollution sources and natural and geographical properties such as wind circulation. According to this study could examine climate and environmental characteristics of Daegu and accordingly suggest a climate map in urban environment and an “advice map” in urban planning. The urban area(area paved with asphalt and concrete) of Daegu has increased by more than five times since 1960. In addition, the analysis of thermal environment through satellite data shows that the surface temperature between a place paved with artificial structures and a farmland shows 10∼20℃ difference during the daytime in the summer. Regarding the parks inhibiting the heat island of a city have the small area of trees, and the road paved with concrete is wide so that they hardly serve as the source of heat absorption. As Apsan is located to the south of Daegu and Palgonsan to the north and Daegu has east high west low type, mountain wind from mountains in the south and north passes a city and delivers heat and air pollutions at night. In the west of Daegue, there is the poorest environment and industrial facilities and environmental basic facilities are mostly located, so large residential complexes that are being built around the industrial facilities as if they set up a folding screen and therefore the poor environment is increasingly worse.

        Air quality monitoring networks are very important facilities to manage urban air pollution control and to set up an environmental policy. Since air quality monitoring network of Daegu was allocated from 1980s to mid-90s, there is need to reevaluate it and relocated its site. This study was evaluated the position of Daegu air quality monitoring station by unit environmental sensitivity index, grid emission rate, CAI (Comprehensive Air-quality Index) point. The investigation domain covered an area of 16 × 24 km centered at the metropolitan area of Daegu with grid spacing of 2 km. The location of alternative air quality monitoring networks was selected through optimization and quintiles analysis of total score. The result showed that all things considered, new air quality monitoring network need to install grid numbers 10, 28, 36, 37, 46. We also recommand three scenarios of alternative air quality monitoring network when considering unit environmental sensitivity index, emission rate and CAI point.

        Recently, the interest in streams are gradually increasing and also many studies about them are in progress. Many streams located in downtowns were constructed or restored through research. Downtown streams must be designed through PE(Postoccupancy Evaluation) to satisfy user's needs to maximize the usage of facilities along the streams. This study was carried out to research about PE of Sincheon stream located in Daegu City, focusing on the search of the problems and improvement plans through the analysis about behavior of users who used the stream. These evaluation and analysis have their meaning to become a base information material for the future plan of downtown stream formations or the similar plans.

        This study aims to implement the modeling of selected substances for the evaluation of Atmospheric Environmental Capacity by means of the data of 2006 atmospheric pollution substance emissions. As a result, it turned out that the substance with the concentration higher than Atmospheric Environmental standard concentration was NO2, and 17.6% of the total regions researched turned out to exceed the standard concentration. In addition, set was the targeted amount to be reduced in the areas where the upper limit of emission per unit lattice was exceeded, and the model was adopted accordingly. As a result, it turned out that about 80% of the actual emission should be reduced to meet the 2006 Atmospheric Environmental standard over the Daegu. In reality, it is impossible to reduce 80% of the actual emission. Thus, the same ratio of reduction was applied in all of the Daegu regions, and the modeling was applied. The results are as follows: When 30% was reduced, the level went down to 50 ppb, which is as high as 2006 Atmospheric Environmental standard; when 50% was reduced, the level went down to 30 ppb, which is as high as 2007 Atmospheric Environmental standard.

        The present study explores time and spatial thermal environment for Daegu, which is a city built on a basin area, according to varying land cover conditions of the earth's surface by analyzing data derived from meteorological observation and satellite images. The study has classified land use by utilizing MODIS satellite images and analyzed land surface temperature. Also, by using data acquired from automatic weather system, the study has evaluated the effects of atmospheric heating caused by city pavements by analyzing the sensible heat flux between the city's land surface and the atmosphere.The results are as follows. 1) Classification of land use in the Daegu area shows 46.64% of urban and built-up area, 1.39% of watersides, 35.19% of forest, 11.43% of crops, and 5.37% grasslands. 2) During the weekdays throughout the year, the land surface temperature was high for Dalseogu, Bukgu, and Seogu regions where industrial complexes could be found. Comparatively, lower temperature could be observed in the woodlands. 3) While the land surface temperature displayed the effects of pushing air upwards during the weekdays in urban areas, the reverse was true for forest regions. During the night, the temperature did not exert any significant influence on air movement.

        Cool island intensity urban green space was investigated based in Dalsung Park, that is one of the largest parks in Daegu. Cool island intensity(CII), which is defined as the temperature difference between the green space and its surrounding built-up areas, shows time variations. A through-year measurement(2008-2009) of ground level air temperature revealed seasonal variation and relationship to the atmospheric condition of CII. The temperature variation in the park and the reference downtown Daegu was as same order as CII. The noontime CII is larger in summer than that in winter due to the leaf fall of the park trees. On the other hand, seasonal variation of nighttime CII is not so clear. The nighttime CII was larger under the stable atmosphere.

        Obesity affects various kinds of adult diseases and is a principal cause of injuring people's health. Physical activities are very important to solve the obesity problem and green spaces are good place to take physical activities. In order to examine the utilization of green spaces for physical activities to improve health, the survey was implemented in regards to recognition of health, forms of use of green spaces for physical activities. Only 8.1% of respondents didn't care about health, but 91.9% of them were interested in health more than ‘commonness’. 95.2% of respondents knew that obesity has an effect on various adult diseases, and 93.1% of respondents cognized that it's possible to prevent obesity by doing physical activities. More than half of respondents replied that the types of green spaces utilized for physical activities were small-scale neighborhood parks and mini parks around house. About 70% of respondents took walking as a type of physical activities. 53% of respondents utilized green spaces one or two times a week, while 25% of them utilized the places at least three times a week to take physical activities. 91.8% of respondents took exercise for more than 30 minutes. These results are expected to promote health because many experts encourage people to take physical activities at least three times a week because fats of human body begins to burn after 30 minutes from start of physical activities. In the utilizing time of green spaces, evening or after work(56.7%) was higher than morning or before work(35.1%). 71% of respondents usually visited green spaces by walking. This study shows green spaces are good places for physical activities and have boundless potentialities improving people's health.

        본 연구는 최근 화훼장식에 많이 사용되어지는 화훼 중에서 다화 소재로 적합한 소재를 제시하고 이를 이용한 작품 분석을 통해서 현대의 차(茶)문화 공간에 어울릴 수 있는 다화의 종류를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법은 2009년 대구세계차문화축제의 주요 행사로서 다양한 차 문화 공간 연출을 위한 찻자리의 꽃인 다화 경연대회가 실시되었는데 대회 시 사용되어진 다화 소재와 작품들을 분석하였다. 다화 소재로 선정되어진 화훼는 능수조팝나무,금사매,정금나무의 절지류와 국화, 장미, 산수국, 유스토마, 과꽃, 섬바디, 솔리다스터, 안개초의 절화류, 고사리, 루스쿠스의 절엽류가 사용되었다. 특히 선을 표현하기 위해 가장 많이 사용되어진 소재는 능수조팝나무이었고 꽃은 과거 차 문화 공간에서도 많이 사용되어졌던 국화를 가장 많이 사용하였다. 이외에도 현대의 차 문화 공간에서는 다양한 소재를 폭넓게 사용할 수 있지만 무엇보다도 꽃의 표정이 차 문화 공간의 분위기와 잘 맞아야 된다.

        This paper has attempted to improve the quality of urban environment in terms of the management of urban green tract and suggest a way of coexistence between human and nature by proposing a plan to establish green network using an urban green zone based on ‘linear concept’ instead of point and plane concepts. The results have turned out as follows: 1. According to current status of forest functions, forest recreation area has reached 39.6%, satisfying citizens’ needs. However, the space for living environment is just about 20% with a lack of a green zone. Therefore, it’s been necessary to establish green network using roadside trees and take advantage of them as sustainable living space along with existing green tract. 2. With forest in the suburbs and Geumhogang which is the tributary to the Nakdonggang, Sincheon (stream) flows through the downtown. It connects mountains including Waryongsan from the south to the north around Duryu Park and Dalseong Park. Therefore, the water system that passes through Palgongsan (Mt.) and Biseulsan (Mt.) would make it possible to connect with the parks in the downtown. 3. According to this paper, it appears that it’s necessary to establish green network through roof or wall greening by focusing on the existing green tract in the urban parks and suburbs and taking advantage of roadside trees and water system.

        The purpose of this study is to analyze city residents' preference to experiencing activities for Green Tourism. A Questionnaire survey was conducted in fall, 2006. The sum of 515 copies was analyzed. Residents of Daegu city preferred 'health/leports experience' and 'traditional food experience', among theme experiential activities. While present providing experience programs are rural-life experiences, which are convenient for provider aspect. By the result of cross-table analysis, there are many differences between groups by gender & age. Men preferred 'health/leports experience', while women preferred 'traditional food experience'. The mean values of preference by 14 experiencing activities showed high at 'health experience', 'traditional food experience', 'leports experience', which represents health & wellbeing trends. By the result of t-test & ANOVA, there also are many differences between groups by gender & age. Especially significant differences were shown by age group. Three factors were categorized. 'traditional/wellbeing/health experience', 'nature-play experience' and 'life-culture experience' were those.

        This study aims to produce fundamental database for Environment Impact Assessment by monitoring vertical structure of the atmosphere due to the mountain valley wind in spring season. For this, we observed surface and upper meteorological elements in Sangin-dong, Daegu using the rawinsonde and automatic weather system(AWS). In Sangin-dong, the weather condition was largely affected by mountains when compared to city center. The air temperature was low during the night time and day break, and similar to that of city center during the day time. Relative humidity also showed similar trend; high during the night time and day break and similar to that of city center during the day time. Solar radiation was higher than the city, and the daily maximum temperature was observed later than the city. The synoptic wind during the measurement period was west wind. But during the day time, the west wind was joined by the prevailing wind to become stronger than the night time. During the night time and daybreak, the impact of mountain wind lowered the overall temperature, showing strong geographical influence. The vertical structure of the atmosphere in Dalbi valley, Sangin-dong had a sharp change in air temperature, relative humidity, potential temperature and equivalent potential temperature when measured at the upper part of the mixing layer height. The mixing depth was formed at maximum 1896m above the ground, and in the night time, the inversion layer was formed by radiational cooling and cold mountain wind.

        본 연구는 국내 습지보전 계획수립에 대한 기초자료 제공에 그 목적이 있다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 안심습지에 분포하는 관속식물상은 57과 155속 179종 22변종 등 총 201 분류군이 요약되었다. 산림청 지정 희귀 및 멸종위기식물은 자라풀이었다. 습지식물의 경우 정수식물은 애기부들, 개피, 줄, 갈대, 고마리, 미나리, 물칭개나물, 침수식물은 말즘, 나사말, 검정말, 붕어마름, 물수세미로 나타났다. 그리고 부엽식물은 가래, 자라풀, 연꽃, 노랑어리연꽃, 부유식물은 생이가래, 개구리밥, 좀개구리밥으로 확인되었다. 귀화식물은 메귀리, 오리새, 소리쟁이, 묵밭소리쟁이, 털비름, 다닥냉이, 말냉이, 나도재쑥, 개소시랑개비, 벳지, 아까시나무, 족제비싸리, 토끼풀, 자주개자리, 가죽나무, 애기땅빈대, 큰달맞이꽃, 둥근잎유홍초, 둥근잎나팔꽃, 까마중, 큰개불알풀, 뚱딴지, 돼지풀, 도꼬마리, 개망초, 망초, 큰망초, 개쑥갓, 미국가막사리, 만수국아재비, 서양민들레, 붉은씨서양민들레, 방가지똥 등 총 33분류군이었다.

        The purpose of this study is to investigate city residents' attitudes and cognition of Daegu City toward Green Tourism. A Questionnaire survey was conducted in september, 2006. The sum of 515 copies was analyzed. City residents recognized the problems of leisure activities as 'burden of expense', 'lack of program diversity' and the advantages of this as 'withdrawal of stress and increase of vitality', 'promotion of health for themselves and their family'. Among theme experiential activities, they preferred 'health/leports experience' 'traditional food experience', 'traditional culture experience', 'nature-ecological experience', respectively. By the result of cross-table analysis, there are many differences between groups by gender & age. Therefore, further development of specific experiencing activity programs and marketing techniques, are required.

        여가는 일상에 지친 피로를 풀어주는데 매우 중요한 요소이다. 특히 주 5일제 근무로 인해 여가를 즐기려는 사람들의 다양한 욕구는 점점 증대되고 있다. 게임은 대학생들에게 하나의 새로운 여가 활동으로 자리 잡고 있다. 과거보다 대학생들은 게임에 대한 욕구가 다양해지고 새로운 것을 추구하지만 개발사들은 비용적인 부분 때문에 대학생들의 욕구를 크게 반영하지 못하고 있다. 이러한 차원에서 본 연구에서는 대학생들의 여가활동 중 게임이용에 대해 어떤 형태를 나타내는지 평가하는데 초점을 맞추었다. 그 결과 하루 평균 3시간미만의 여가활동 중 1~2시간가량 게임을 하고, 재미와 스트레스 해소에 도움이 되기 때문에 많이 이용하는 것으로 나타났다. 온라인 게임과 PC 게임 플랫폼을 좋아하고, 시뮬레이션 게임과 MMORPG를 즐겨하는 것으로 나타났다. 게임 이용시 보통 1~2만원 정도 지불하는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 바탕으로 마케팅 방법을 제안하였다.

        Recent urban sprawl has destroyed various kinds of green space in the city. It has affected quality of people’s life in the city, as well as urban ecosystem. Recent study shows the possibilities of roofs as green spaces in urban central site where the land costs are generally high. This research focuses on Jung-Gu district in Daegu Metropolitan city as a study area and calculates possible area of green roof using 2002 Autocad program based on aerial photographs and land registration maps. And the purpose of this research is to analyze environmental and economic effects of green roof. The environmental effects are as follows. It is expected that 91,106 ㎡ green spaces, 12.13 % of study site, will be added if green roof is performed in the study site. It is assumed that the expanded areas could reduce the highest temperature to 0.5-1.0 ℃ during the summer in terms of environmental effect. And the following shows the economic effects. If green roof and greening urban central site are created as a same size of 91,106 ㎡, it will be expected that the costs of green roof will be much more inexpensive than about 98 billions won. It will be also found that the expense of cooling energy can be saved out about 8 millions won per day in summer, if grass planting is accomplished on the possible areas of green roof in the study site. Therefore, it is desirable to take legal supports such as enacting regulations to activate green roof for more environmental and economic effects. For instance, green roof for public institutions, school and model area selection are desirable method to publicize the effect of greening program for citizen's participation.

        This study assessed the characteristic of BTEX (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylene) concentration ratios of industrial emission sources and the neighborhoods of industrial area, fuel such as gasoline, light oil, LPG, and similar gasoline, and ambient air in Daegu. The BTEX in aromatic compounds was the most abundant VOC in Daegu. The BTEX ratios were (0.2:2.6:1.0:1.8) for the neighborhoods of industrial area, (2.6:11.3:1.0:1.2) for residential area, (2.2:11.0:1.0:1.6) for commercial area, (1.0:14.9:1.0:1.3) for industrial area, and (0.2:2.6:1.0:1.8) for the neighborhoods of industrial area. Average BTEX ratios in Daegu were B/T ratio (0.1), B/EB ratio (1.5), B/X ratio (1.1), T/EB ratio (12.6), T/X ratio(10), EB/X ratio (0.7). Expecially, B/T ratio in Daegu was similar as the other cities, Bangkok, Manila, and Hongkong. Comparing other cities with B/T ratio, the main sources of VOC were vehicular exhaust and emission of industrial facilities. Furthermore, BTEX correlation were evaluated at the emission sources and regional areas. Results showed that correlation coefficient values of emission sources, fuels and neighborhood of industry were significant magnitude above 0.65(p<0.01). Also, there showed highly significant correlations among BTEX. Calculated correlation coefficients of ambient air sampling sites were 0.61~0.954 for commercial /residential area and 0.613~0.998 for industrial area. However, they showed different correlation between commercial/residental area and industrial area. It implied that the emission sources were different from each area.

        It is well known that urban relative humidity has continuous decreasing trend owing to the influence of urbanization. The change of relative humidity is directly influenced by two factors, namely, temperature effect and water vapor effect in various urban effects. In this study, the temperature and the water vapor effects on the relative humidity change were analyzed by using monthly mean relative humidities for a long period(1961~2005) in Daegu and Chupungnung. The major results obtained in this study can be summarized as follows. Firstly, the urban dryness was caused mainly by water vapor effect in summer. But, for the other seasons, the urban dryness is mainly due to the temperature effect. Secondly, the relative humidity in Daegu is on the decrease until now. This phenomenon is similar to another Korean huge cities such as Seoul, Daejeon and Incheon. But, it is different compared with Japanese huge cities such as Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, indicating a standstill in relative humidity change after 1980s.

        The main purpose of this study was to comprehensively evaluate the local agenda 21 of Daegu City based on the evaluation model and propose important measures to solve its problems and improve the limitations. As a whole, the evaluation result of the local agenda 21 of Daegu City showed very low score, only 151 points out of 500 points and revealed it was below the level in all three domains of making process, designed content, and evaluation of implementation. The making process got only score below the half in all large indicators of understanding, driving, and rationality. This unsystematic and irrational process inevitably resulted in ambiguous and proclamatory content mainly expressing willingness to do. This fact means that the local agenda 21 of Daegu City has not served as the comprehensive local environmental plan containing visions, policies, ends and means. It did not suggest evaluation system and institutionalization of evaluation. These results of evaluation suggested that the existing local agenda 21 of Daegu City was neither useful nor effective and thus the totally new local agenda 21 should be prepared. Finally, important measures in making process, designed content and evaluation of implementation were proposed for the remaking.
