Fishways, particularly installed at the estuary, have a purpose to encourage fluent migration for migratory fishes, as well as amphidromous and even freshwater species. Not choosing the laborious traditional method of using traps, we assessed the efficiency of the two fishways installed at the west and east barrage of the Nakdong River estuarine barrage respectively, by analyzing the videos recorded through automatic monitoring system. We randomly selected 30 videos monthly at each fishways and identified what kind of fishes were using the fishways and categorised their behaviour such as size, time and whether they passed the monitoring system or not. As a result, a total 8 families 14 species were recorded by monitoring system, with the most dominance of Erythroculter erythropterus (Relative Abundance: 59.5%), followed by Micropterus salmoides (R.A: 19.9%) and Mugil cephalus (R.A: 9.9%). The monitoring system can capture passing fishes during night but the number of appearances of fish species at each hour of a day indicated significant diurnal activities (p<0.05). When fishes pass the monitoring system, approximately 70% of them passed through the monitoring device, while 17% of them showed fallback movement. Our finding indicates that species-specific characteristics of each fish are well represented through video monitoring method. In order to maximise advantages of using video monitoring, it is necessary to consider the installation point properly so that the monitoring system does not interfere with the movement of fish. Also, the utilisation of AI technology in the future is also necessary.
This study was conducted using mold heat. By developing the cleaning process technology, the production test was improved by twice, and the heat washing time reduction test and defect rate were also reduced. We designed an automatic production system for automatic heat torches and devised an automated continuous process system to improve the mold process. The production capacity test doubled the production rate of the product per 1 hour from the target of 500 to 1,040 per hour, and the heat cleaning time reduction test measured the time from the beginning of heat injection to the product sample during the production process and the end time, which shortened the development target of 5 seconds (sec) to 2.78 seconds (sec), and the defect rate was reduced to 4.25% as a result of the defect rate test. The system development of this project has doubled the production volume
In this study, fire extinguisher system to which form fire extinguisher agents were adopted was applied to the combat vehicle crew room to apply fire extinguishing performance and acid gas safety that meet the national defense standards. As a result of evaluation and verification, the following conclusions were drawn. For standard fire sizes in the combat vehicle crew's standard model, we ignited using a mixture of Novec 1230 and Halon 1301 form extinguisher agent and released form extinguisher agent after 30 seconds to determine the fire extinguishing time. The amount of acid gas generated met the criteria in all cases. When the fire size was increased to 0.12m2 and a 2.0mm nozzle was used, all of the extinguishing time, the amount of acid gas generated, and the concentration of Novec 1230 met the criteria. Despite the more difficult conditions to extinguish the fire by making the fire larger, it was possible to confirm the extinguishing performance of the Novec 1230 form extinguisher agent and its safety against acid gas.
To efficiently develop an automatic assembly system that can enhance the quality and assembly productivity of the shaft assembly in EV relays, a DMU model was utilized. After modeling each component of the assembly system using the CAD software CATIA, a DMU model of the assembly cells and the entire assembly system was created using the assembly model. Additionally, the DMU Kinematics Workbench was employed to verify and validate the design of the automatic assembly system for the shaft assembly, a key component of the EV relay, before actual construction. This approach helped reduce time and costs by minimizing trial and error.

In this study, we investigated the time signal devices of Deungnu (circa 1270) and Gungnu (1354), the water clocks produced during the Yuan Dynasty (1271–1368). These clocks influenced Heumgyeonggaknu (1438) of the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1910), exemplifying the automatic water clocks of the Yuan Dynasty. Deungnu, Gungnu, and Heumgyeonggaknu can be considered as automatic mechanical clocks capable of performances. The Jega-Yeoksang-Jip (Collection of Calendrical and Astronomical Theories of Various Chinese Masters) contains records of Deungnu extracted from the History of the Yuan Dynasty. We interpreted these records and analyzed reproduction models and technical data previously produced in China. The time signal device of Deungnu featured a four-story structure, with the top floor displaying the four divine constellations, the third floor showcasing models of these divinities, the second floor holding 12-h jacks and a 100-Mark ring, and the first floor with four musicians and a 100-Mark Time-Signal Puppet providing a variety of visual attractions. We developed a 3D model of Deungnu, proposing two possible mechanical devices to ensure that the Time-Signal Puppet simultaneously pointed to the 100-Mark graduations in the east, west, south, and north windows: one model reduced the rotation ratio of the 100-Mark ring to 1/4, whereas the other model maintained the rotation ratio using four separate 100-Mark rings. The power system of Deungnu was influenced by Suunuisangdae (the water-driven astronomical clock tower) of the Northern Song Dynasty (960–1127); this method was also applied to Heumgyeonggaknu in the Joseon Dynasty. In conclusion, these automatic water clocks of East Asia from the 13th to 15th centuries symbolized creativity and excellence, representing scientific devices that were the epitome of clock-making technology in their times.

Combat-armored vehicles were equipped with an automatic-fire-extinguishing system to ensure the safety of the crew and vehicle from fires on the vehicle. When a fire was occurred, the automatic-fire-extinguishing system automatically detects the fire through sensors and detection lines, sprays a fire extinguisher, and notifies the crew visually and audibly. Recently, there had been cases of automatic-fire-extinguishing systems malfunction on combat-armored vehicles. In this study, in order to resolve the automatic-fire-extinguisher's malfunction phenomenon, ground noise and inter-circuit noise generated from the fire detection line were identified, and the resistance connected on the circuit was revised to remove noise. As a result of resistance revision, the noises was eliminated and the electromotive force difference between input circuits was made constant, thereby improving the malfunction of the automatic-fire-extinguishing system. By applying the result, it was confirmed that the control device sensed a temperature similar to the actual temperature on actual vehicles, and it was confirmed that the automatic-fire-extinguishing system's malfunction phenomenon was not founded in the field vehicles after then.
At present, the assessment for the crew training using the ship handling simulator is completed by the assessor, which is subjective and difficult to unify the assessment criteria. Under this assessment mode, the assessor will have a great work intensity. So it is necessary to design and develop the automatic assessment system for the ship handling simulator. This paper introduces the automatic assessment system developed by Dalian Maritime University (shorted for DMU), which includes the assessment method, system architecture and implementation. A selected example of applications is described.
In wastewater treatment, an emulsion polymer automatic dissolving system is used to mix and dissolve the polymer used as a polymer coagulant with water before it is put into the dissolution tank. In this study, a disperser is developed to mix water and emulsion polymer better in the dissolving system. For this purpose, the flow analysis of the three disperser models was performed to select the disperser for the emulsion polymer automatic dissolving system with the best performance. The excellence of mixing was evaluated by grasping the flow uniformity and the vorticit in the disperser, and it was confirmed that the TYPE3 disperser was excellent.
In this study, the second-order Nomoto’s nonlinear expansion model was implemented as a Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy model based on the heading angular velocity to design the automatic steering system of a ship considering nonlinear elements. A Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy PID controller was designed using the applied fuzzy membership functions from the Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy model. The linear models and fuzzy membership functions of each operating point of a given nonlinear expansion model were simultaneously tuned using a genetic algorithm. It was confirmed that the implemented Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy model could accurately describe the given nonlinear expansion model through the Zig-Zag experiment. The optimal parameters of the sub-PID controller for each operating point of the Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy model were searched using a genetic algorithm. The evaluation function for searching the optimal parameters considered the route extension due to course deviation and the resistance component of the ship by steering. By adding a penalty function to the evaluation function, the performance of the automatic steering system of the ship could be evaluated to track the set course without overshooting when changing the course. It was confirmed that the sub-PID controller for each operating point followed the set course to minimize the evaluation function without overshoot when changing the course. The outputs of the tuned sub-PID controllers were combined in a weighted average method using the membership functions of the Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy model. The proposed Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy PID controller was applied to the second-order Nomoto’s nonlinear expansion model. As a result of examining the transient response characteristics for the set course change, it was confirmed that the set course tracking was satisfactorily performed.
