        This study investigated the physical, thermal, rheological, and binding properties of faba bean protein concentrate (FBC) and FBC-anionic gum mixtures. The anionic gums used in this study were sodium alginate (NaA), low-methoxyl amidated pectin (LMA), l-carrageenan (lCA), and gellan gum (GLG). The study found that FBC successfully incorporated the minced textured vegetable protein (TVP), but the formed TVP block had a fragile and soft texture. The water absorption index decreased in FBC-NaA and FBC-LMA mixtures but increased in FBC-lCA and FBC-GLG mixtures. The water solubility index decreased by adding NaA, LMA, and lCA, excluding GLG, to FBC. Adding anionic gums to FBC decreased solubility, while the swelling power was reversed in FBC-anionic gum mixtures, except for the FBC-LMA mixture. The addition of anionic gums to FBC increased melting onset and peak temperatures compared to FBC. The G′ value of FBC and FBC-anionic gum mixtures increased with temperature, indicating their thermogelling characteristic. The hardness of hamburger patties prepared with minced TVP and FBC or FBC-anionic gum mixtures generally tended to increase upon reheating, refrigeration, and reheating after refrigeration. The study concluded that the FBC-anionic gum mixtures have significant potential for binding different types of TVPs, highlighting its practical application.

        Graphene-based materials modified with transition metals, and their potential utilization as hydrogen storage devices, are extensively studied in the last decades. Despite this widespread interest, a comprehensive understanding of the intricate interplay between graphene-based transition metal systems and H2 molecules remains incomplete. Beyond fundamental H2 adsorption, the activation of H2 molecule, crucial for catalytic reactions and hydrogenation processes, may occur on the transition metal center. In this study, binding modes of H2 molecules on the circumcoronene (CC) decorated with Cr or Fe atoms are investigated using the DFT methods. Side-on (η2-dihydrogen bond), end-on and dissociation modes of H2 binding are explored for high (HS) and low (LS) spin states. Spin state energetics, reaction energies, QTAIM and DOS analysis are considered. Our findings revealed that CC decorated with Cr (CC-Cr) emerges as a promising material for H2 storage, with the capacity to store up to three H2 molecules on a single Cr atom. End-on interaction in HS is preferred for the first two H2 molecules bound to CC-Cr, while the side-on LS is favored for three H2 molecules. In contrast, CC decorated with Fe (CC-Fe) demonstrates the capability to activate H2 through H–H bond cleavage, a process unaffected by the presence of other H2 molecules in the vicinity of the Fe atom, exclusively favoring the HS state. In summary, our study sheds light on the intriguing binding and activation properties of H2 molecules on graphene-based transition metal systems, offering valuable insights into their potential applications in hydrogen storage and catalysis.

        In this paper, we study the word of Luolü (覼縷) in several aspects of forms, sounds and meanings. Luo has three forms: 覶/覼/ . They have a same component 見 means seeing and they have different components /爾/繭which have the same meaning: reeling silk from cocoons. So the meaning of Luo (覶/覼/ ) is combing silk thread. Luo (覶/覼/ ) and Lü (縷) are cognate words with the same initials. They are synonyms that have the same meaning of putting things in order. The two words Luo (覶/覼/ ) and Lü (縷) are used together to form a synonymic compound. In case of Luo (覶/覼/ ) is not a commonly used word and Lü (縷) is normally used as a noun, thier early way of verb-using has been neglected. In that case, the synonymic compound Luolü (覼縷) has been regarded as an unanalyzable continuous word for long. As a conclusion, like Luolü (覼縷), the synonym compounding of cognate words is an important way to form binding words.

        The immunological sperm separation method is economical compared to the existing sorting method, and it is promising for the development of new technologies by reducing sperm damage. Wholemom (WM) is a sex-regulating protein that comprises on immunoglobulin G coupled with magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) that responds to surface proteins derived from the Y chromosome in cattle. Y sperms are restricted in motility as the WM aggregates them, and the magnet could separate the non-aggregated cells. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of WM treatment on the characteristics of bull sperm. After treating sperm with WM and incubation for 6 h, the motility parameters including total motility, progressive motility, velocity average path, velocity straight line, amplitude of lateral head displacement, and linearity were significantly higher in the WM treatment group than in the control group (p < 0.05). Sperm viability and acrosome reaction rates were similar in both groups during each incubation period (p > 0.05). In conclusion, the immunological sperm sexing procedure using a monoclonal antibody conjugated with MNPs did not affect the characteristics of bull sperm. This study suggests that compared to other techniques, the immunological method for sperm sexing could classify sperm quickly and efficiently without the use of expensive equipment.

        Hybrid dispute settlement mechanism is one of the characteristics of the UNCLOS. It is the combination of diplomatic measures and judicial proceedings. Among them, the ITLOS established in accordance with Annex VI, and two types of arbitral tribunal constituted in accordance with Annexes VII and VIII are means for the disputes settlement firstly regulated in the UNCLOS. Especially, according to Article 287, an arbitral tribunal constituted under Annex VII has default jurisdiction in case one or both parties to a dispute are not covered by a declaration in force, or the parties to a dispute have not accepted the same procedure for the settlement of the dispute. These means of dispute settlement have supplemented and enhanced the source of law for international dispute resolution more diversified. This paper clarifies some aspects of compulsory procedures entailing binding decisions under the UNCLOS, evaluates the applicability of these procedures to the case of Vietnam in the disputes settlement on interpretation or application of the UNCLOS raising among countries in the South China Sea.

        Many parrots are considered endangered species due to threats from human activities. Gender determination is of great importance for biological studies and the conservation of endangered parrots. However, like other birds, gender determination in parrots is hindered due to the lack of external dimorphism between males and females. A molecular approach using the chromo-helicase-DNA binding protein 1 (CHD1) gene is commonly used for sexing birds. This study aimed to determine the gender of parrots from Korean zoos based on amplification and visualization of the partial CHD1 gene. The samples of 13 parrot species were collected from three different zoos in Korea and the extracted DNA templates were amplified using CHD1 gene primers. The gender of 27 samples of 13 species was determined by visualizing the PCR products on an agarose gel. While male parrots were indicated by a single band, female parrots were indicated by double bands. The findings provide additional information, which might be helpful for the management and care of parrots in Korean zoos.

        The fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4) gene plays an important role in lipid metabolism and homeostasis in adipocytes. The objective of this study was to analyze the association between a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), g.7516G>C, in the FABP4 gene and economic traits of Korean native cattle, Hanwoo. Primers were designed to target a region of the FABP4 gene between nucleotides 7417 and 7868 (AAFC01136716). The SNP, which was detected by polymerase chain reaction-based restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method using restriction enzyme MspA1I, was genotyped in 319 animals of Hanwoo steer population. Statistical analysis showed that the SNP genotype of the FABP4 gene significantly affected carcass weight (CW, p<0.01), longissimus muscle area (LMA, p<0.001), and marbling score (MS, p<0.001). GG allele of the SNP on 246 animals in a Wagyu × Limousin F2 reference population showed a higher MS (p<0.05) and subcutaneous fat depth (p<0.05) in previous report. But CC allele of the SNP showed greater values for MS, LMA, and CW in Hanwoo steers. These results suggest that the g.7516G>C SNP located in the FABP4 gene may affected differently depending on the cattle breed and can be used as a genetic selection marker in Korean native cattle.

        제한된 토지의 효율적 이용을 위하여 건물들이 점점 더 거대화, 초고층화 되어가고 있기 때문에, 대형합성기둥에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 선행 연구를 통하여 리브를 갖는 냉간성형강재를 사용하여 구조적으로 안정적이며 경제적 인 충전강관기둥(ACT Column Ⅰ)이 기존에 개발되었으나, ACT Column Ⅰ은 크기가 제한(618×618)되는 문제가 있기 때문에 새로운 폭 1m이상 고하중용 대형합성기둥의 개발이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 폭이 커지고 접합부 형식이 단순해지는 대형합성기둥(ACT Column Ⅱ)를 제안하고, 바인딩프레임이 보강된 실험체를 중심압축가력하여 구조성능을 확인하였다. 콘크리트 충전 여부 및 바인딩프레임의 보강 폭과 면적을 변수로 한 바인딩프레임 보강 실험체를 중심압축가력 하여 실험체 최대내력 값과 KBC2016 합성구조 설계메뉴얼에 따른 설계내력을 비교한 결과 ACT Column Ⅱ이 대형합성기둥으로써 안정적으로 거동함을 확인하였다.
