This research determined the threshold value of 12 specified offensive odor substances based on the 3 point comparison sensory method. The panelist’s thresholds were calculated by taking the arithmetic, geometric mean, and 50th percentile. Three methods of calculating the odor thresholds from the same data are compared. For 12 odor substances, the panelist’s thresholds were showed logarithmically normal distribution. The 50th percentile was the best method among the three methods of caculating the odor threshold from the 72 panel’s thresholdes. As a result, the threshold values of individual odor substances, including methyl mercaptane, hydrogen sulfide, trimethylamine, and i-valeraldehyde ranged between 0.0001~0.001 ppm, while the values of styrene and ammonia were relatively higher than of other substances at 0.089 ppm and 3.2 ppm, respectively. The threshold values of the 12 specified odor substances were compared in Korea and overseas, which showed that the characteristics of sensory response varied by substance and nation.

Cruciferous vegetables including diindolylmethane (DIM) have been shown to have anticancer activity. Especially, DIM-pPhBr and DIM-pPhF used in this study was reported to have more effective and less toxic effects than DIM. However, there is no report presenting their anti-tumorigenic activity in oral cancer. In the present study, we examined the effects of DIM-pPhBr and DIM-pPhF on the cell proliferation and apoptosis in KB human oral cancer cells. DIM-pPhBr and DIM-pPhF decreased cell proliferation and induced apoptosis evidenced by western blot analysis, DAPI staining and sub-G1 population. This provides the first evidence that DIM-pPhBr and DIM-pPhF originating from cruciferous vegetables induce apoptotic cell death in human oral cancer cells to inhibit cancer cell proliferation.

A rapid, simple and reliable LC-MS/MS method, which can be used on a routine basis, was developed for the simultaneous detection of 8 penicillin antibiotics (amoxicillin, ampicillin, penicillin-G, penicillin-V, oxacillin, cloxacillin, nafcillin and dicloxacillin) in swine muscle and kidney. The antibiotics were extracted from samples with water and methanol. The extract was centrifuged, filtered and analyzed by liquid chromatography coupled with a tandem mass spectrometer (LC-MS/MS), using a C18 reversed phase column with water/acetonitrile gradient containing 0.05 % formic acid. Mass spectral acquisition was achieved in an electrospray positive ion mode by applying multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) of 2 fragment ion transitions to provide a high degree of sensitivity and specificity. The ion rations were consistent and could be used for confirmation of identity of the penicillin antibiotics. Recoveries of eight penicillins at three fortification levels (10, 20 and 40㎍/㎏) ranged from 79.8 to 102.4% and 72.8 to 103.4% in swine muscle and kidney, respectively. The coefficient of variation was than 9% in all samples. The estimated limits of quantification (LOQs) ranged from 1.0 to 3.2㎍/㎏ in swine muscle and kidney, respectively. The LOQs of this method are below the MRLs of penicillin antibiotics in animal tissues established in Korea and other countries.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the bioactive compounds of soybean snacks and to carry out a sensory evaluation of those variations which had various seasoning mixing ratio. Five soybean snacks were developed for these experiments. Proximate composition, the contents of total phenol compounds and isoflavone, and sensory characteristics of the soybean snacks were measured. There were significant differences in amounts of isoflavones and total phenolic compounds of soybean snacks(p<0.05). The seasoned soybean snacks had a higher level of daidzein and genistein contents than did control group. The total phenol compound contents of the control group was 210.3 ㎎ gallic acid equivalents/100 g, whereas those for individual soybean snacks(A~E) were 152.3, 160.2, 162.4, 158.4 and 164.6 ㎎ gallic acid equivalents/100 g, respectively. In sensory evaluation, there were significant differences(p<0.05) in taste, texture, and overall acceptability of the soybean snacks.

본 연구에서는 EFDC모델과 입자추적모델을 이용하여 마산만의 담수유입에 의한 폐쇄성 내만의 물질체류시간을 산정하였다. 마산만의 해수유동을 재현하고 이를 바탕으로 평균체류시간을 계산하였다. 마산만의 조석에 의한 평균물질체류시간은 만 북측과 돝섬 부근까지가 약 110일이내, 모도 주변 해역이 약 40일, 부도에서 외해까지 약 20일 정도로 산정되었다. 담수유입에 따른 마산만의 4개 소해역별 평균물질체류시간은 I과 II영역에서 약 81일로 감소하였으나, 마산만의 외해측에 위치한 III과 IV영역은 각각 58일과 17일로 증가하였다.

The aim of this study was to compare the concentrations of airborne pollutants (i.e., PMs, TVOC, and ozone) released from a laser printer with a new and/or a refilled toner cartridge. Also we compared the concentrations before and after attaching a HEPA filter at the outlet of exhausted air for each printer. PMs, TVOC, and ozone were released from all three different branded printers with both toner cartridges in accordance with their both a brand new and a used condition. For PMs, there were generally significant differences of concentrations between a brand new and used toner (p<0.05). Ozone level differences were found between a new and a refilled toner, but were not significant (p>0.05). For TVOC, there were significant differences of concentrations among brands, and toluene (3.46mg/m³) only was identified. The overall 70% of reduction for PMs’concentrations occurred after attaching a HEPA filter(p<0.05), and these results were pronounced for TSP. These results showed that similar levels of airborne pollutants were released from a laser printer with a new and a refilled toner cartridge. Also, these results indicate that the usage of a HEPA filter may be an effective method for reducing the released pollutants from a laser printer.

Odorous compounds were monitored and dispersion modeling was conducted using AERMOD model. for Songtan Industrial Complex (SIC) located in Mogok-dong, Pyeongtaek city. The complex odor at the target area showed an average dilution ratio of 4.5 and low ammonia concentrations were observed (78.3 ppb). Sulfide, methyl iso-buthyl ketone, methyl ethyl ketone and styrene were not detected. The toluene concentration showed as 1233.3 ppb, which was the highest in the target compounds. The diffusion effect of odorous pollutants by wind was confirmed by descending order of concentration, inner-SIC (282 ppb) > downwind site (182 ppb) > upwind site (11.6 ppb). The results of the modeling demonstrated that the complex odors on the west and, south, north and east of the boundaries were dilution ratios of 10 24 and 20, respectively indicating the north and the east of SIC were more vulnerable to odor pollution than other regions.

화경을 상, 중, 하부로 나누어 신초 및 자구를 유도하기 위하여 NAA와 몇 종류의 cytokinin 첨가 배지에서 각 부위별 화경 절편체를 배양해서 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 화경 조직에서 상부, 중부, 하부 중 소화경이 부착된 상부조직에서 다아체 및 자구 형성이 전반적으로 가장 양호 하였다. 다아체 형성은 NAA 와 TDZ 혼용배지에서 가장 효율적이었고 자구 형성은 NAA 와 kinetin 또는 NAA 와 kinetin 혼용배지에서 가장 효율적이었다. 온실에서 순화된 식물체는 정상적으로 개화하였으며 재식 2년차에 1.5개 내외의 자구를 가진 구를 생산할 수 있었다.

Safety in the nuclear facility has been a growing interest due to recent recurrences of the fatal accidents such as Fukushima accident and Chernobyl accident. It is not easy to determine the extent to what technical requirements of nuclear facility such as nuclear power plant are be likely applicable to the laboratory for use of nuclear material. All of workers in nuclear shall be recognized for the generic features of safety according to the related laws. This study surveys a status of safety control laws to enhance safety in laboratory for use of nuclear material.

JF33-01은 5.8 cm, JF33-02는 6.2 cm로 JF33-02가 더 빠른 생장을 보였으며, 배양과정중 균사가 황변이 되면서 약간의 균막을 형성하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 발효참나무, 밤나무, 버드나무에서는 거의 유사하게 나타났으나, 발효미송에서는 JF33-02가 JF33-01보다 2.5 cm정도 더 빠르게 나타났다.JF33-01(n)와 JF33-02(2n)를 대치배양 시킨 결과 뚜렷한 대치선을 형성하는 것을 확인하였다. 이는 두 균주간에 유의성이 있는 것으로 사료된다. 참바늘버섯 추출물의 제작시 버섯 세포의 파쇄와 관련된 방법의 개선이 필요하며, 본 실험을 통해 참바늘버섯 내에 혈전 분해능을 갖는 효소가 함유되어 있음을 확인하였다. 참바늘버섯의 혈전용해능은 약 30~40mM NaCl 에서 회수한 fraction(fraction 13) 에서 가장 높은 혈전용해능을 확인하였다. 참바늘_EtOAc의 경우 다른 버섯과는 매우 다른 크로마토그램을 보여주고 있어 신규물질에 대한 기대감을 높이고 있다. 또한 일반적으로 ACN/H2O 이동상의 경우가 MeOH/H2O 이동상의 경우보다 약간 더 복잡하고 피크 형태와 sharp한 크로마토그램으로 나타나 버섯에 함유한 물질들이 ACN/H2O의 이동상에서 더 잘 분리되는 것으로 보인다.

The studied results of the gasohol, which is the mixture of gasoline and ethanol, were investigated for the promotion of applications on commercially by gasoline vehicle referring to octane number, minimum water contents be involved, and separation inhibitors for protecting phase separation etc. especially for the E10 and E20. The results showed that octane number will be revised by higher value as the ethanol is added more, and it's more effect in case of be added as a mixture than individually when inhibition agents is added for the inhibition of separation. and it's reasonable for the water contents of less than 1% by comparing with experimental results and in view of regulations of various countries.

A lipase inhibitor from Desmodium oxyphyllum DC. was purified by methanol extraction, systematic solvent extraction, silica gel column chromatography, C18 solid phase extraction chromatography and RP-HPLC. We obtained the purified lipase inhibitor with 182 ng(IC50) of lipase inhibitory activity for a 0.06% yield. Its molecular weight was estimated to be 655.37 Da from an instrumental analysis of MALDI-TOF-MS and it was identified copper-3, 5-dibromo-2-hydroxybenzoic acid (C14H8Br4CuO6) by 1H, 13C NMR analysis.
