This paper discusses diverse ways of improving college English education program based on previous studies. In particular, the discussion focuses on three issues: the goals of college English education program, the content of the program curriculum, and the implementation of the curriculum. The purpose of the paper is to assess the current state of Korean college English education, diagnose its problems and weaknesses, and suggest various measures for enhancing it. The importance of taking into special consideration the characteristics of the college and its students as well as the students’ own learning needs in designing any college English education program is underscored. Given that the curriculum of English education program is developed by each college rather than by the government, the information that this paper provides is expected to help colleges upgrade their English education program.
교정교육은 수형자의 성공적인 사회복귀를 위해 이루어지는 일련의 교화활동을 의미한다. 그러나 교정교육은 수형자 개개인이 가지고 있는 문제의 다양성과 문제해결에 요구되는 기법의 다양성 등으로 그 어느 교육보다 어렵고 힘들며 효과 또한 쉽게 나타나지 않는다는 특성을 가지고 있다. 따라서 교정교육이 효과적으로 이루어지기 위해서는 문제행동 특성을 중심으로 실행 가능한 다양한 교육 프로그램이 개발되어야 한다. 이와 관련하여 상습적으로 규율을 위반함으로써 수용질서를 문란하게 하고 출소 후에는 재범을 반복하는 고위험 수형자를 위한 집중 프로그램을 개발, 실시하였다. 교정심리검사, 수용생활 파일, 설문조사 등을 통하여 상습규율위반자 특성을 조사해 본 결과, 이들은 대부분 높은 공격적 성향과 낮은 자존감을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 자존감향상을 목적으로 하는 교육 프로그램을 실시해 본 결과 비합리적 신념에 유의미한 변화가 있었고 교정심리검사에서도 T점수가 낮아지는 등 효과가 예고되었다. 현장경험을 기초로 개발된 이러한 집중교육 프로그램은 상습규율위반자의 심리적 문제해결과 향후 유사한 프로그램 개발에 많은 기여를 할 것이다.
교정처우의 목적인 수형자의 사회복귀를 달성하기 위해서는 무엇보다 수형자의 개별적인 특성을 고려한 교정교육프로그램의 실시는 필수적이라 할 수 있다. 또한 이러한 교정교육프로그램은 교정환경의 변화에 맞추어 지속적인 발전이 있어야 기대하는 효과를 얻을 수 있다. 최근 우리의 교정상황은 과밀수용의 문제와 더불어 소위 처우곤란수형자라고 할 수 있는 마약류 및 폭력범죄자의 재범률증가가 눈에 띄게 증가하고 있으며, 고령화 사회의 진전에 따른 노인수형자의 수도 함께 증가하고 있다. 이러한 수형자들은 재범률이 높으며 또한 형기도 장기화된다는 점을 고려할 때 과밀수용의 원인으로 작용하는 것뿐만이 아니라 보다 실효성 높은 교정교육의 실시를 저해하는 요인으로도 작용하게 된다. 그럼에도 불구하고 현재 이러한 처우곤란수형자에 대한 전문적인 교정교육프로그램이 마련되어 있지 않고 또한 이를 담당할 전문 인력의 부족 등에 따라 효과적인 교정교육이 이루어지고 있지 않는 것이 우리의 현실이다. 마찬가지로 노인수형자에 대해서는 아직까지 노인전용교도소가 설치되어 있지 않고, 또한 노인수형자의 특성을 고려한 교정교육프로그램은 전무한 실정이다. 오늘날의 교정이념은 사회와의 재통합으로 옮겨가고 있다. 이에 따라 교정교육의 방향도 수형자의 사회복귀를 위한 가장 적합한 형태로 정립해 나아가야 하며, 또한 사회의 이해와 지원, 그리고 협조를 최대한으로 끌어낼 수 있는 교정교육프로그램의 개발과 실시를 교정시설에 기대하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 우리의 교정환경의 변화와 이에 따른 교정교육프로그램의 문제점, 그리고 새로운 교정교육프로그램의 도입필요성 등에 대해서 서술하는 것을 목적으로 하였다.

피아노 교육을 쉽고 즐겁게 배우려고 하지만 비용적인 부분, 학습자의 능률, 교사 지도 등 다양한 부분에서 제약이발생함으로 배우기가 어렵다. 이런 취지에서 본 연구는 피아노 게임을 통해 가상의 피아노 교육 방법을 제시하고자한다. 연구결과 피아노를 기존의 방식보다는 손쉽게 배울 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the multilateral weight control program provided by the university health care center for female college students. The program was 8weeks long and composed of nutrition consultation, exercise, and behavior modification. Nutrition education focused on a low calorie and balanced diet, increasing the intake of protein and micronutrients and reducing carbohydrate and fat consumption. Evaluations were made upon completion of an 8-week program and upon follow-up at 6 months after the end of program. A total of 92 women completed the 8-week program, while 20 completed the follow-up survey. Upon completion of the 8-week program, significant decreases in body weight, BMI, body fat (kg), and %body fat were observed, and muscle mass was also reduced. The total energy and carbohydrates intake were also significantly decreased in subjects with weight loss, while the percentage of subjects whose consumption of protein, calcium, iron, vitamin B1, B6, and niacin did not meet the EAR, were decreased. The blood values of glucose, total cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol were decreased. The follow-up survey revealed that the subjects continued to lose weight after completion of the program. In addition, a Mini nutrition assessment revealed that diet quality improved, especially with respect to reductions in the consumption frequency of fried, greasy and salty food. In conclusion, the multilateral weight control program with diet education for female college students was effective for long lasting weight control and improved dietary behavior. Nutrition education for weight reduction should focus on balanced nutrition as well as lowering the total caloric intake.
This study recommends using children's literature in teacher training programs with the purpose of developing integrated language skills for primary school teachers and teaching methods for their students. First, to accomplish bifold objectives, the study develops three modules: 1) intensive listening through story books, 2) using in class dialogues through role-playing and 3) developing classroom activities. For presenting the examples of the three modules, Junie B., First Grader (at last!), Freckle Juice, and Jake Drake: Teacher's Pet are used. Next, the study presents teachers' perceptions on both using literature for improving their English skills and using literature in their teaching elementary school children. To investigate the possibility of implementing the program, the researcher surveyed 53 teachers participating in the program. The survey results showed teachers' perceptions on children's literature changed in positive ways, and they recognized that children's literature could develop their own English language skills and then would be a good teaching resource for their students. Based on the results, some suggestions were provided for the teachers, educators, and program developers.
This study develops reeducation programs to satisfy needs conducted by the analyses of potential customers and present R&D education programs. The results of this study were derived using the data collected from 200 R&D researchers and control managers occupied in research centers. By analyses of the survey, results showed that the professional R&D reeducation institution and specialized education programs according to career and position were needed. To bring solution of the researcher's reeducation, the establishment of R&D Supreme Academy is essential for effective human resource development and management in R&D.
In January, 2005, the "Railroad Safety Act" was presented, preparing the systematic equipment that allows several railroad operators to consider the railroad safety issue, and each of the railroad operative institutions accepted such situation that the construction of the emergent system of coping, resulting in the construction of the emergent system of coping with the railroad fire accident through the relevant study to improve the railroad security efficiency against fire. This study tried to present the on developing the emergent educational program for coping with the KTX fire accident, which is distributed to the spot, to the railroad emergency staff for improving the railroad security efficiency against fire through the education of systematic and efficient emergent countermeasure procedures against fire accidents the fire accident in KTX.
The purpose of this study is to collect and analyze Technical High School Teachers' opinions to find out solutions to reduce safety accidents since it is important for teachers to recognize the importance of safety. We surveyed 150 teachers from technical high schools located in Incheon and divided them into three categories and asked their opinions about prevention of safety accidents in laboratories. We also studied their experiences constructing educational environment and making instructional materials for safety eduction to improve safety awareness. Also, we studied whether school safety awareness increases through safety related activities.
영재교육에 대한 관심과 대상의 증가로 영재교육 프로그램 개발에 관한 연구가 많이 진행되고 있지만 영재들의 다양한 흥미와 요구에 부합되고 인성측면을 강조할 수 있는 지구과학 영역의 교육활동 자료 개발은 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 중학교 과학영재 학생들을 대상으로 지구과학 분야에 대한 능동적 소집단 협력학습 프로그램을 개발하고 개발된 프로그램이 과학영재들의 과학 창의적 문제해결력과 과학탐구능력 및 학습태도에 미치는 효과를 알아보았다. 그리고 능동적 소집단 협력학습 프로그램을 적용한 후 학생들의 수업프로그램에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 본 연구의 결과 개발된 능동적 소집단 협력학습 프로그램은 영재들의 과학 창의적 문제해결력과 학습태도에 있어서 유의미한 증가를 보였다. 또한, 능동적 소집단 협력학습은 학생들의 수업에 대한 흥미도와 만족도 및 참여도를 높일 수 있고 정의적영역에도 많은 영향을 끼치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 교사 설명 위주의 수업이 아니라, 학생 중심의 다양한 활동적 수업이 진행되었고 긍정적 상호작용을 위한 급우들과의 토의 및 토론을 할 수 있었기 때문이다. 이는 능동적 소집단 협력학습을 통하여 다른 학생을 배려하고 서로 조화를 이루며 의견을 주고받을 수 있도록 소집단 구성원 사이의 상호작용을 촉진했기 때문으로 인식된다.
Recently, the desire for low body weight, which is an abnormal weight construct along with obesity, has become an evident and serious problem in teenagers. In Korea, the desire for low weight is not perceived as an important problem, but it is rapidly expanding relative to the physical changes and developmental issues teenagers experience. The social atmosphere presented through mass media is the key influencer for the increasing low weight occurrence in teenagers. Because thoughts about beauty have changed among people, and since there is apparent blind interest in slim body shape and appearance, already low-weight individuals are attempting to lose weight along with obese persons. Thus, we consider it necessary to guide teenagers toward having correct perceptions with regard to weight and their own body shape, and that a healthy and appropriate weight is beautiful. Therefore, for this study, we investigated body perception, abnormal weight, attitude toward weight control, and factors related to eating behavior among teenage girls, who are considered the at risk group for overt body weight control behavior. Based on this, we have attempted to set in motion a systematic and active nutrition education program that will allow us to increase body satisfaction by educating on nutritional issues related to development, and ultimately, implant healthy body shape perceptions.
Recently the Korean government has promoted, as part of a national plan for facilitating English education, the introduction of English immersion programs into public secondary schools in Korea. English immersion programs have been installed in many elementary schools in Canada and the U.S. as a practice of bilingual education, especially to help students in the linguistic minority. The government has also emphasized that the program will be further utilized for teaching general subjects in addition to English, and that it will be installed in the elementary schools as soon as possible. This paper critically reviews the suitability and validity of the English immersion program for Korean public schools from the socio-cultural, politico-economical, and language educational perspectives. Before doing that, this paper discusses: i) the origin and the objects of the immersion program, ii) the English immersion program implemented in the U.S., and iii) the difference between the features of English Immersion programs in the U.S. and those that have been introduced to Korea. Based on these discussions, this paper argues that the English immersion program is not an optimal, nor a suitable program for English education in Korean public schools. This paper suggests some ideasfor planning foreign language education policy in the future.
If we may practice the nutrition education planned on the basis which carefully grasped the inappropriate behavioral determinants of middle-school students, it might be an effective method achieving the change in perception and behavior improving the distorted perception about the ideal body shape, so we are to suggest the 8 week program of body shape perception improvement for successful nutrition education as follows. The body shape perception improvement program is a step-by-step group consulting program. At the introduction stage, we let them understand the meaning of true beauty and body change of teenage period and forming of sexual identity. At the stage of perception conversion, we let them have the opportunity to observe the status of body perception of the teenager and self-observation. At the stage of correction, we let them criticize the distorted body image in the society with mass media at the same time with the self-reflection. At the stage of maintenance and evaluation, we suggested the behavior guidance while preparing it. Setting this as the basis, we applied the contents such as the evaluations through cultural sharing events making somethings while directly participating. As the target groups to practice education were middle school students, we considered the learning level and behavioral features of the middle school students, and composed the programs including the methods such as role play, watching real things, media production, discussions and experiences. If the program of body shape perception improvement developed at this study could be utilized at the field of schools, the teenagers can change their ways of thought naturally avoiding the view about unified appearance rightly perceiving negative self-image that the teenagers can have and if the group consulting can be practiced regularly at each school, many students may experience the change in perception, so it might solicit the improvement of health of the families and local societies as well as that of the individual student.
The object of this study is to evaluate the Korean traditional food culture education program which was developed in the prior study. In order to evaluate the effect of the program on the students’ knowledge of traditional food culture and their food habit, the program was practiced for 82 students in 4 elementary schools located in Seoul and Kyungki province during 16 weeks from Mar 1, 2005 to July 23, 2005. The pretest and the post-test were performed using an evaluation tool which is composed of evaluation sections for the perception and knowledge of the Korean traditional food culture, Korean children’s food habit and food preference for the Korean traditional food and fast food. The validity of evaluation was proved through the control group in the pretest and the post-test. Descriptive analysis and paired t-test were performed using SPSS/WIN 12.0 Statistic Package in order to compare the results of the pretest with those of the post-test after the education. The perception of the students who took the class for the Korean traditional food was slightly improved (p<0.05) and their knowledge was also increased (p<0.001) after the education while no difference was found in the control group. Moreover, the subjects’ food habit (p<0.001) and their preference of the Korean traditional food (p<.05) were increased respectively but their preference of the Western fast food was decreased(p<.01). These results indicate that the education program evaluated in this study has the effect of altering the subjects’ food habit or food preference as well as of introducing the knowledge of the Korean traditional food culture.
