이로 인해 RC 보의 처짐은 측정된 처 짐 또는 ALE(Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian) 해석결과에 비해 작게 계산되었다. 구조체의 응답이 크게 나타나는 근거리 폭발에 대해 서는 ALE 해석방법을 사용하는 것이 더 적합할 것으로 사료된다.

The demand for novel strains has been rising in the domestic market to increase the production of sclerotia from Wolfiporia hoelen. To improve strain breeding efficiency, we investigated whether single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the RNA polymerase II subunit (RPB2) gene, which may be linked to the mating type locus, are useful for distinguishing monokaryons from dikaryons in Korean W. hoelen strains. We designed a specific primer set to efficiently amplify a region of RPB2 using PCR with the genomic DNA of 12 cultivated strains and 31 wild strains of W. hoelen collected from Korea. Nucleotide sequences of the PCR-amplified RPB2 genes were determined and analyzed for the presence of SNPs among the 43 W. hoelen strains. Previously reported SNP loci were detected in the RPB2 gene of all W. hoelen strains tested. However, these previously reported SNP loci could not be applied to differentiate monokaryons from dikaryons in approximately one-third of Korean wild strains with homozygous genotypes. Three additional SNPs in the RPB2 gene, which may improve the ability to distinguish monokaryons from dikaryons, were identified by searching through the multiple sequence alignments of the 43 W. hoelen strains. The applicability of these three novel SNPs, together with the previously known SNPs, in the RPB2 gene to W. hoelen strain breeding was verified by examining the hybrid strains and their parental strains.

In gamma-ray spectrometry for volume samples, the self-attenuation effect should be considered in the case of differences in chemical composition and density between the efficiency calibration source for quantitative analysis of sample and the sample actually measured. In particular, the lower the gamma-ray energy, the greater the gamma-ray attenuation due to the self-attenuation effect of the sample. So, the attenuation effect of low-energy gamma-rays in the sample should be corrected to avoid over- or under-estimation of its radioactivity. One of the most important factors in correcting the self-attenuation effect of the sample is the linear attenuation coefficient for the sample, which can be directly calculated using a collimator. The larger the size of the collimator, the more advantageous it is to calculate the linear attenuation coefficient of the sample, but excessive size may limit the use of the collimator in a typical environmental laboratory due to its heavy weight. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the collimator size and structure according to the measurement environment and purpose. This study is to optimize a collimator that can determine the effective linear attenuation coefficient of low-energy gamma-rays, and verify its applicability. The overall structure of the designed collimator was optimized for gamma-ray energy of less than 100 keV and cylindrical plastic bottle with diameter of 60 mm and a height of 40 mm. The materials of optimized collimator consisted of tungsten. Acryl and acetal were used to form the housing of the collimator, which fixes the central axis of the bottle, collimator and point-like source. In addition, using the housing, the height of the tungsten is adjusted according to the height of the sample. For applicability evaluation of the optimized collimator, IAEA reference material in solid form were used. The sample was filled in the bottle with heights of 1, 2, 3 and 4 cm respectively. Using the collimator and point-like source of 210Pb (46.5 keV), 241Am (59.5 keV), and 57Co (121.1 keV), the linear attenuation coefficient and the radioactivity for the samples were calculated. As a result, to calculate the linear attenuation coefficient using the optimized collimator, a relatively high sample height is required. However, the optimized collimator can be used to determine the linear attenuation coefficients of low-energy gamma-rays for the self-attenuation correction regardless of the sample height. It is concluded that the optimized collimator can be useful to correct the sample selfattenuation effect.

For the spent fuel modeling, the plastic model of the cladding used in FRAPCON uses the σ􀷥 = K􀟝̃􀯡 􁉂 􀰌􁈶 􀬵􀬴􀰷􀰯􁉃 􀯠 format. Strength coefficient (K), strain hardening exponent (n), strain rate sensitivity constant (m) are derived as the function of temperature. The coefficient m related to the strain rate shows dependence on the strain rate only in the α-β phase transition section, 1,172.5~1,255 K. But this is the analysis range of the FRAPTRAN code, which is an accident condition nuclear fuel behavior evaluation code. It does not apply to evaluate spent fuel. This coefficient in FRAPCON is used as a constant value (0.015) below 750 K (476.85°C), and at a temperature above 750 K, it is assumed that it is linearly proportional to the temperature without considering the strain rate dependence, also. In order to confirm the effect of strain rate, multiple test data performed under various conditions are required. However, since the strain rate dependence is not critical and test specimen limitation in the case of spent fuel, it is needed to replace with a new plastic model that does not include the strain rate term. In the new plastic model, the basic form of the Ramberg-Osgood equation (RO equation) is the same as ε􀷤 = 􀰙􀷥 􀮾 + 􀜭􀯥 􁉀􀰙􀷥 􀮾􁉁 􀯡􀳝. If the new variable α is defined as α = 􀜭􀯥􁈺􀟪􀯢/􀜧􁈻􀯡􀳝􀬿􀬵, this equation can be transformed into ε􀷤 = 􀰙􀷥 􀮾 + 􀟙 􀰙􀷥 􀮾 􁉀 􀰙􀷥 􀰙􀰬 􁉁 􀯡􀳝􀬿􀬵 . The procedure for expressing the stress-strain curve of the cladding with the RO equation is as follows. First, convert the engineering stress-strain into true stress-strain. Second, using a data analysis program such as EXCEL or ORIGIN, obtain the slope of the linear trend-line on the linear part and use it as the elastic modulus. Third, using the 0.2% offset method, find the yield point and the yield stress. Finally, using the solver function of EXCEL, find the optimal values of α and 􀝊􀯥 that minimize the sum of errors. The applicability of the suggested RO equation was evaluated using the results of the Zircaloy-4 plate room temperature tensile test performed by the KAERI and the Zircaloy cladding uniaxial tensile test results presented in the PNNL report. Through this, the RO equation was able to express the tensile test results within the uncertainty range of ±0.005. In this paper, the RO equation is suggested as a new plastic model with limited test data due to the test specimen limitation of spent fuel and its applicability is confirmed.

Even though it is emphasized to apply safeguards-by-design (SBD) concept in the early phase of the design of a new nuclear facilities, there is no clear guideline or tools for the practical SBD implementation. Generally known approach is trying to review whether there is any conflicts or shortcomings on a conceptual safeguards components in a design information. This study tries to build a systematic tools which can be easily applied to safeguards analysis. In evaluating the safeguards system or performance in a facility, it is essential to analyze the diversion path for nuclear materials. Diversion paths, however, can be either extremely simplified or complicated depending on the level of knowledge and purpose of specific person who do analyze in the field. In the context, this study discusses the applicability of an event tree and fault tree method to generating diversion paths systematically. The essential components constituting the diversion path were reviewed and the logical flow for systematically creating the diversion path was developed. The path generation algorithm based on the facility design components and logical flow as well as the initial information of the nuclear materials and material flows was test using event tree and fault tree analysis tools. The usage and limitation of the applicability of this two logic methods are discussed and idea to incorporate the logic algorithm into the practical program tools is suggested. The results will be used to develop a program module which can systematically generate diversion paths using the event tree and fault tree method.

Bio-based alternative leathers may be produced from biomass fiber, protein polymers, bacterial cellulose, and mushroom mycelia. Of these components, mushroom mycelia are of greatest interest. In this study, the potential of Fomes fomentariusas a mushroom mycelial mat was confirmed, and the optimal strain for the development of the mycelial mat was determined. Moreover, the quality of the mycelial mat was improved by identifying an efficient culture method to increase productivity. Mutant strains whose independence was verified were obtained by treatment with gamma irradiation under various conditions. Biofilm formation by the resulting strains was examined in sawdust and liquid media and the characteristics of the biofilms were analyzed. The biofilm of the mutant strains showed results that were similar to or better than the biofilms of longevity and cypress mushrooms. These findings are expected to be utilized in future research aimed at discovering new biomaterials using mushroom mycelia.

The sewer capacity design have been based on the Huff model or the rational equation in South Korea and often failed to determine optimal capacity, resulting in frequent urban flooding or over-sizing. A time distribution of rainfall (i.e., Huff or ABM method) could be used instead of a rainfall hyetograph obtained from statistical analysis of previous rainfalls. In this study, the Huff method and the ABM method, which predict the time distribution of rain intensity, which are widely used to calculate sewage pipe drainage capacity using the SWMM, were compared with the standard rainfall intensity hyetograph of Seoul. If the rainfall duration was 30 minutes to 180 minutes, the rainfall intensity value calculated by the Huff model tended to be less than the rainfall intensity value of the standard rainfall intensity in the initial 5-10 minutes. As a result, more than 10% to 30% of under-design would be made. In addition, the rainfall intensity value calculated by the Huff model from the section excluding the initial 5-10 minutes of rainfall to the rainfall duration was calculated larger than the value using the standard rainfall intensity equation, which would result in an over-design of 10% to 30%. In the case of a relatively long rainfall duration of 360 minutes (6 hours) to 1,440 minutes (24 hours), it showed an lower rainfall intensity of 60 to 90% in the early stages of rainfall, but the problem of under-design had been solved as the rainfall duration time had elapsed. On the other hand, in the alternating block method (ABM) method, it was found that the rainfall intensity at the entire period at each assumed rainfall duration accurately matched the standard rainfall intensity hyetograph of Seoul.

PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to present a practical application method for measuring the setting time of concrete in the field, considering different concrete blending and curing environments. METHODS : In the experimental environment of the concrete setting experiment, a mold was made in the laboratory, and the curing temperature was performed at laboratory room temperature (20-25 ℃), heater (30 ℃), and dryer (40 ℃). In the field, the experimental method was performed in summer and autumn, setting experiments on penetration resistance, ultrasonic pulse velocity, and semi-calorimeter. RESULTS : The result of the concrete setting time experiment was that the early setting time was achieved in the combination of filash and slag when the concrete was mixed, and the setting time in the curing environment was the same as the early setting time in the field. The setting time measurement method shows the correlation of the high crystal coefficient at UPV with 0.99 based on PR and the good ratio of 92 % to 107 % on average. In addition, the semi-calorimeter shows a good crystal coefficient of 0.96 to 0.99 and a good setting time of 88 % to 101 % on average. CONCLUSIONS : The analysis of the setting time of the concrete shows that the curing temperature is more affected than the mixture, and it is considered that the UPV test, which evaluates the reliability of the degree of purification, is easy to sampie among the three methods.

Many countries are developing various mechanical cutting technologies to dismantle nuclear facility. However, most of mechanical cutting technologies have a problem like the degradation of tool life due to the Hard-Machining materials. To solve this problem, lab-scale test was performed with a Plasma Assisted Machining (PAM) technology and 25 mm of thickness Inconel 600 plate. Commonly, the strength of metals decreases by exposure at high temperature. And, previous study reported that strength of Inconel 600 is degraded above 500°C. This softening effect was applied to Inconel 600 cutting test. The optimal conditions such as the plasma torch power and the feed rate were determined by this study. As a result, the surface temperature of Inconel 600 was reached up to 500°C under the conditions which is 8.4 kW of plasma torch power and 150–250 mm·min−1 of feed rate. And it was confirmed that the tool life was improved under the conditions. In order to apply PAM for various Hard- Machining materials, it is necessary to investigate the softening temperature of Hard-Machining materials, the plasma torch power and feed rate.

Various cutting technologies are being developed for dismantling nuclear power plants. these technologies are including mechanical and thermal methods. For example, mechanical cutting methods include sawing, drilling and milling. But, due to the strength of material, mechanical cutting methods have limits of cutting depth and tool life. Therefore, this milling machine assisted plasma torch was developed to improve the limits. And this machine has the principle of softening effect caused by the high temperature. In this work, this developed device was evaluated in view of the cutting depth and tool life in cutting process. For this process, a plasma torch was attached to the front of the endmill processing path to heat the Inconel 600. As results, compare to conventional milling, when the plasma torch power is 6.4 kW, the cutting depth was increased by 4 mm at condition (feed rate is 100 mm·min−1, tool diameter is 10 mm, rotating speed is 1,000 rpm). And cutting length increase 2 times from 300 mm to 600 mm at 16 mm of tool diameter.

The dismantling of the reactor pressure vessel has been carried out at a number of commercial nuclear power plants, including the Zion nuclear power plant in the United States and the Stade nuclear power plant in Germany. The dismantling method for the reactor pressure vessel is either in the air or in the water, depending on the utility. In general, a mechanical cutting method is used when dismantling the reactor pressure vessel in the water. And when dismantling a nuclear reactor pressure vessel in the air, the thermal cutting method is applied. However, there is no case of dismantling commercial nuclear reactor pressure vessel by applying a mechanical method in the air. In this study, when a nuclear reactor pressure vessel is dismantled by applying a mechanical method in the air, the applicability was evaluated by testing it using a demonstration mockup of Kori Unit 1. For the evaluation, the mockup was made in the actual size of Kori Unit 1. Mechanical cutting devices used the band saw and the circular saw. In the test, the cutting of the reactor pressure vessel was performed remotely by reflecting the working conditions of the decommissioning site. The band saw cutting method was applied to vertical cutting, and the circular saw cutting method was applied to horizontal cutting. In order to dismantle one cut-off piece, mockup test was performed according to a series of dismantling processes, it consists of preparatory work, vertical cutting process, horizontal cutting process, packaging process and finishing work. The cutting speed of the band saw is 3–10 mm·min−1, and the cutting speed of the circular saw is 2–4 mm·min−1. As a result of the test, when the mechanical cutting method was applied, as is known, the kerf width was smaller than when the thermal cutting method was applied. The cut surface showed a clean state without drag lines generated during thermal cutting. However, the working time was much slower than when the thermal cutting method was applied.

For economic and safe management of Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF), it is very important to maintain the structural integrity of SNF and to keep the fuel undamaged and handleable. The cladding surrounding nuclear fuel must be protected from physical and mechanical deterioration. The structural evaluation of SNF is very complicated and numerically demanding and it is essential to develop a simplified model for the fuel rod. In this study, a simplified model was developed using a new cladding failure criterion. The simplified model was developed considering only the horizontal or lateral static load utilizing the cladding material properties of irradiated Zirclaoy-4, and applicability in horizontal and vertical drop impacts was investigated. When a fuel rod is subject to bending, a very complicated 3D stress state is generated within the vicinity of the pellet–pellet interface. A very localized stress concentration is observed in the area where the edges of the pellets contact the cladding. If the failure strain criteria obtained from the uniaxial tension test or biaxial tube test is applied, failure is predicted at the beginning stage of loading with premature through-thickness stress or strain development. The localized contact stress or strain is self-limiting and is not a good candidate for the cladding failure criteria. In this work, a new cladding failure criterion is proposed, which can account for the localized stress concentration and the through-thickness stress development. The failure of the cladding is determined by the membrane plus bending stress generated through the thickness of the cladding, which can be calculated by a process called stress linearization along the stress classification line. The failure criterion for SNF was selected as the membrane plus bending stress through stress linearization in the cross-sections through the thickness of the cladding. Because the stress concentration in the cladding around the vicinity of the pellet–pellet interface cannot be simulated in a simplified beam model, a stress correction factor is derived through a comparison of the simplified model and detailed model. The applicability of the developed simplified model is checked through horizontal and vertical drop impact simulations. It is shown that the stress correction factor derived considering static bending loading can be effectively applied to the dynamic impact analyses in both horizontal and vertical orientations.
